Behavior of Skydrive Onedrive

I copy a PDF file, on my Windows 7 computer, using Windows Explorer, to the Onedrive icon.   Leave the house and with my Windows 8.1 laptop try to access the file.   The Skydrive app doesn't show the file entry, however using www.skydrive.com and
a account login I can access and read the file, via Web site launch of Microsoft office online.
If the file exists in the Cloud, I don't understand why the Windows 8.1 Skydrive app cannot see it?   Unless it's a bug or a planned enhancement.

Good thing it only applies to cats and not humans, otherwise bad programmers all over the world would have to have this conversation:
Girl: Are you sure it will be ok?
Guy: Don't worry, I know what I'm doing... my integers never overflow. Just relax and trust me.
Lol!! Hahaha
@Anikom15 You can get the needed info on google, this is a very common topic (its is a FAQ at comp.lang.c FAQ). For example look at http://www.fefe.de/intof.html
EDIT, now re-reading your last message looks like you question now is in a more general sense. You can look at something like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbitrary- … arithmetic , but the final solution (bignum, or safe overflow, using bigger types) is per case basis. For example, if you know that you are limited to 64bit sizes you can use it (simple use a 64 bit type) if the needed type is not available you can create then (using for example two smaller types), as I said all depends of the user case.

  • A suggestion for the mouse setting through persistence via SkyDrive/OneDrive: Add a check button to let the user tell if the mouse settings should be "restored" every time the user logs in a "different" computer using the same Microsoft Account.

Every time I log in one of my 2 computers with Microsoft Account, I have to change the main button (left/right) setting, because the settings persistence via SkyDrive/OneDrive.
I have different main mouse button settings in the computers.
Those settings shouldn't be changed, if the account is not a new one, after all, if the user has different settings in old accounts, it means there must be a reason to do it (because of hardware and/or furniture restriction).
Thus, a check button in the mouse settings' window that let the user tell if it should be changed or not would be welcomed.

  • SkyDrive (OneDrive) Issue

    Hi,
I have two Microsoft IDs. That’s why I have two IDs for SkyDrive (OneDrive) as well.
I want to configure both SkyDrive on my Windows 8.1 Desktop for auto synchronization.
Please help me how to do it?
    Regards
    GN Jha

    Hi GN Jha,
    Arnav Sharma is right.
SkyDrive is built into Windows 8.1.
First, you can't switch between accounts in the SkyDrive app.
Also, when you sign in to a PC with your Microsoft account, you're automatically signed in to SkyDrive with that account.
You can still get to SkyDrive files for a different account by going to the SkyDrive website.
    Hope this helps.

  • Skydrive (OneDrive) Icon in System Tray Caused by KB2849636

KB2849636 installs an update that puts a Skydrive icon in the system tray, and there is no way (that I know of) to remove it. I've since removed KB2849636 but assume It'll stick around for a while, has anybody come up with a solution that allows you to disable
    this icon?

    Hi,
If this issue still persists, as a workaround, we may just remove this icon from system tray:
Change how icons appear in the notification area

  • Can I transfer my contacts and photos to Skydrive/Onedrive?

I have a widows 7 laptop & a windows 8 tablet.   I would like to get my contacts to my tablet. I have iCloud Control Panel on my PC that is linked to outlook. Any suggestions?

OneDrive is from Microsoft.  You'll have to ask them how to import your contacts to it.  I assume they could be transferred from Outlook, since that's Microsoft's flagship contact manager.

  • Can someone help me find a way to send RAW photos to Skydrive/Onedrive retaining their original file designation, i.e. NEF?

I can obtain RAW files (NEF) from my camera.  I can then upload them to my computer and keep their RAW format. All of this is done through the cords with the iPad. However I am unable to load any of my photos up to any 'cloud' service.  The iPad converts all of them to some type of JPG file.  Is there a method or app that will help this process?  My goal is to protect my RAW images until I can do something with them. This includes the iPad for initial copy and I was hoping to use a cloud service for an additional copy.

Both replies help to understand the restrictions of the iPad. JimHdk seemed to be a better technical reason for this issue.  The reality is I am not looking for more explanations as to 'why not'.  Is there a way around this?  I have read about a couple of apps that handle RAW files better.  But I am not sure if they will facilitate an export of the RAW file to any of the cloud services.  When I upload pics from my camera, they show up in 'camera roll' not iPhoto. If I use iPhoto the whole process is nothing but JPG.  I have to assume then the pics when then uploaded to my PC is acquiring them from 'camera roll' which leaves a collection of files in their original file format.

  • [Forum FAQ] SkyDrive synchronization issue after upgrading to Windows 8.1

After Windows 8.1 released, users may encounter the issues about syncing files in SkyDrive. There are the error messages you may find:
Error 0xS00705B4: This operation returned because the timeout period expired
Sorry, the action couldn't be completed because the file hasn't finished uploading. Try again later
Error 80070490: element is not found.
Many SkyDrive folders in library like SkyDrive [1], SkyDrive [2] …
We just would like to point out some possible causes of this issue and give you some suggestions to troubleshoot it.
    Cause:
Location was messed up during upgrade.
Pending uploading or downloading task blocked in synchronization.
    SkyDrive was hang.
    GPO blocked the syncing behavior
The user profile folder was relocated after upgrading.
    How to fix:
Suggestions 1: Checking the consistence of locations on both registry key and SkyDrive properties:
Right click SkyDrive -> Properties -> Location tab
Open regedit.exe, locate to the following key and check the location.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SkyDrive
    Suggestion 2: For many SkyDrive
    folders:
Check which one can be explored properly with right files and relocate the SkyDrive folder via changing the settings in
    suggestion 1.
Or create a new folder for relocating SkyDrive’s.
Suggestion 3: End the Skydrive.exe process and restart in command or disconnect and reconnect your MS account in SkyDrive to clear the pending task:
Press Win+R to open run, and type following commands one by one:
    %windir%\system32\skydrive.exe /shutdown
    %windir%\system32\skydrive.exe
Log off your MS account in SkyDrive and log in again to check the issue.
Suggestion 4: Check the GPO settings in both gpedit.msc and regedit.exe:
In GPO: If User Configuration –> Administrative Templates
–> Desktop -> Prohibit User from manually redirecting Profile Folders
is enabled, please disable it. Don’t forget to force update the policy changes: run command
    gpupdate /force as admin.
In regedit: if DisablePersonalDirChange is set to 1 under
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer, please change it to 0 and start the SkyDrive to check the results.
At the end, we can’t assure that these suggestions can fix all such
issues. If you need further help, it’s ok to feedback here or submit a new thread with the
    SkyDrive.exe.err.**.log under C:\Users\[Your name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\SkyDrive\logs
    uploaded for research.

  • Office 365 (Word) and Onedrive comparability issue

I have successfully used MS Mesh / Skydrive /
OneDrive for years to sync my documents/PDFs folder between my desktop, laptop, phone, and iPad.  A month or so ago I purchased Office 365 and it caused all sorts of havoc in my Onedrive folder.  The thrust of the issue seems to
involve Office 365 and Skydrive getting in the way of each other while trying to keep the documents up to date.  As skydrive tries to upload changes to a folder with Docs in it, a few of the documents will not update (leaving the red mark on the document
icon instead of the blue check-mark showing it is up-to-date).  Office 365 share point will also give a list of documents that it was unable to sync (the list matches the trouble files in Skydrive).  Once this error hits a file, all of the content
for the document is zero'ed out (and the file size decreases to 0 KB).  Thankfully, thus far this has only caused me to lose data from old, unimportant files.  This morning I lost data from an important file, but I had a backup of it saved in my
    email.
I've tried a bit of my own trouble shooting.  At first I thought that the issue revolve around documents created in earlier editions of Word, so I created a folder in my Onedrive that was populated only with Office 365 Word documents, but this
    did not resolve the issue.
It seems as if this problem affects documents randomly.
My hunch is that it occurs when Office 365's sharepoint tries to update a file at the same time Onedrive is updating the file.
I also use the iPad app PDF expert to access my skydrive folder on the iPad (because I store PDF's in the folders as well), but I don't believe it to be the issue because: (1) it worked perfectly fine before I installed 365, and (2) the problem
with Onedrive and Office 365 persisted after I disabled PDF Expert's sync with the Onedrive.
Note: Office 365 worked fine until I used it to upgrade the version of Office installed on my computer.
I do not want to be forced to keep my Word documents separate from my Onedrive folder as I store numerous non-Word documents in my Onedrive folder as well and need to save them in folders with Word docs.
    Thank you.

    The solution is very simple.
You have to install Microsoft OneDrive from the Mac AppStore. It synchronizes your OneDrive folders to the Mac. Afterwards, you usually find a OneDrive folder in your Home folder. From there, you can access all files as usual. If you change any file, it will be synchronized in both ways (Mac to OneDrive, OneDrive to Mac).
I use this on a daily basis and have no problems with it.
    Have a nice day!

  • OneDrive Sync Settings with Domain Account Roaming Profile

This question seems to have been asked in various manners online including here at TechNet but it has never actually been answered that I can find.
Home domain using Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, client is Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit with Update 1. Logged in as a domain user account with a Roaming Profile and Folder Redirection connected to a Microsoft Account.
Under PC Settings > OneDrive > Sync Settings, everything is greyed out and disabled. I wasn't too bothered about it previously however with Windows Phone 8.1 out now it means that I cannot use Tab Sync with Internet Explorer 11 on the phone.
I have a GPO which excludes the following folders from the Roaming Profile to both allow Folder Redirection to function and also to allow the OneDrive app to function: "Downloads;Pictures; My Pictures;Music; My Music;Videos; My Videos;Dropbox;SkyDrive;OneDrive"
I am using the Primary Computer attribute with a second GPO which limits profile redirection to the users primary computer.
When logging on to my Primary Computer with the Roaming Profile activated, all of the Sync Settings are disabled but on another machine which is non-primary and therefore my roaming profile does not sync, I can connect my Microsoft Account to the local
profile generated on this machine and all of the Sync Settings are available, clearly linked to the Roaming element of the profile.
Is the non-functionality of Sync Settings on domain accounts with Roaming Profiles by design or by virtue of the fact that things are trying to steer away from Roaming Profiles now? I love the Sync features but in that they don't sync everything (3rd party
Application Settings for example) there is a need for both features to exist in parallel.
There is a new section in Group Policy to limit the use of the Sync Settings features for Enterprises which wish to prevent users from using these features so I don't understand the reason for it to not function at all for anyone.

  • This Whole Adobe CC Controversy And a Happy User :-0

I'll make this short....I'm reading all the negative about the CC thing and can't help myself wondering if I'm the only one who's absolutely loving Creative Cloud? I guess I'm going to offend many who seem to have (in their minds) some valid reasons to "hate Adobe" for this new subscription plan. I have a full membership for the 50 or so bucks a month and find every penny spent more than worth it.  Yes, I'm a relative newbie to total immersion in Adobe products and of course can't speak from the mind of 'long-time' users and pros... so understand where I am coming from, and my position. This is me... not you. LOL
The No. 1 gripe (of many) seems to be the cost. 49 whatever dollars a month.  Ok, I too wish it were less... of course!. I wish everything I pay for was less. My mortgage, my car insurance, my electric bill, etc.
But 12.50 a week for me to have total access and continued updated versions (at no added cost) of all the majors such as Ps, Illustrator, Indesign, Muse, Premiere, After Effects, and Edge, is well worth it.... for me.  WHY?
First... yes, I call it $12.50 a week instead of $600 a year because psychologically it helps, and reminds me that I can p_ss away 50 bucks a week on total useless nothingness that gets me just that at the end of the week..... nothing.   AND...
One thing that is not in dispute is the quality and power of Adobe apps... and for those who have not used them, or tried them, or know of their capabilities, like me.... we spend an eternity trying to find other apps that can do what they do.
Oh, "this one can open PS files".  Or, "I wish this one can save as an AI file". And on and on... SO.... I probably wouldn't be exaggerating if over the last 5 years I have invested in many..... many of those $89, $125, $190  with all those yearly
upgrades to deal with. And some of them are quite good. Even better in some small areas or so, do some things better the Adobe apps.  I said "in some small areas or so".
So, in my quest to find and use equivalent software, I easily spend over $600 a year.  Another words... it all balances out for me.
The No. 2 gripe/fear/concern I see is the security of the files created on CC apps. If the subscription is cancelled what happens?  The holding us hostage. You know story, so I need not repeat. And I too have this little annoying something in the
pit of my stomach having me feel the same way.  Now, I'm gonna say that no, I'm not and Adobe professional with 1000's of files and many clients as many of you so please understand this is MY situation.... I'm not attempting to convince or change
how you are feeling, and what you have to deal with. But.... I do, and can empathize with the crowd on this because I do a certain amount of web design for a dozen or so clients, plus other various services... and of course there's MY websites and
marketing materials, which I DO have many 100's of file that I WILL be porting over to CC apps over time. So I'm sort of there with you on that up to a point. I had to resolve it in my mind this way.
I remember when I first became aware of cloud storage. WHAT!!!???? put my files on WHAT!???  WHERE????  a... the... cloud?  What the hell is a 'Dropbox', 'Carbonite', etc... and then came 'GoogleDrive' and 'Skydrive'/'OneDrive'?????????????????????????
NO G_D DAMM WAY I'm backing up my stuff on any of these things.... what if...?   what if....?    what if...?   and the security? and the outages? and the this and that and this.  I'LL NEVER TRUST THEM! What if they go down? What if they're hacked?
    What if?....
Well, I'm totally Cloud Crazy now.... I'm all in!.... for all the positive reasons that exist... (I love carrying my world around with me on my Galaxy). I resolved it this way.....  again, this is my head.... I thought to myself, well if Google and Microsoft's
servers go down or disappear from the planet, I'll be in good company when things begin to globally collapse. I'll just twist in the battery to stoke up my e-cig and flow with it. Yes, it may sound a bit trite, but the world is changing fast. It is what it is.
I can't change it. The big Corp's are in control and as long as I get the service and quality for an acceptable price, well, I'll bite and save myself some stress.
So..... Adobe? I have to put Adobe in the same category in how I thought about the 'Cloud Storage' thing that scared the hell out of me. Life's a gamble. Every time you start the car, there are 100's of possibilities and scenarios that can occur.
Is Adobe going anywhere soon?  I don't believe so. Is Adobe going to do/change something so drastically as to hurt my business, or existing files? I don't think so. Now where would that leave them? So... I'm in. And what do I have?
I have a LARGE selection of applications that are quite frankly the best of any thing out there. Perfect? So show what 'thing' you've found on this planet that is.  I have free upgrades to all of those. Well, now I don't have to pay for all those others
I spoke of.  Even after the JUNE 2014 major upgrades, there have been almost a half dozen more on the various apps. hhhhhhmmmmmm free.  I LOVE to open my CC tray app and see "UPGRADE".  I have applications that help me learn more
and grow... because of the what seems like endless features of these programs.  One of my very favorites is MUSE... I have used ALL ALL ALL the equivalent software and yes, some have some slick features... but NONE, in the end have nearly
the sophistication of MUSE. What would take me days of a site creation with those others, takes me only hours on MUSE.. even with the learning curve.
I have endless tutorials from Adobe (I dig Terry) and from 100's of talented uses of ALL the apps from around the globe at my finger tips. NO OTHER software does. I love the integration, the Typekit font features, the Marketplace.
And I have, finally, applications that don't freakin' crash on me what seems to be 50 times on a long session. Yes, I've crashed CC apps a couple of apps a couple of times. But I know computer limitation was the cause.... ( I push it sometimes)  These are
the most SOLID applications I have ever used since my Commodore 64 and Atari St days.......  :-\   And that gives me something else... peace of mind when I'm into my 4th hour and didn't even think "uh oh, I better close out and re-start before......
I could have been more detailed, very much more detailed on what I like about my CC experience, but you get my point. So, for me, it works! And for 5 others that I know that moved to CC that seem to be in my category of user, they're lovin' it too.
Oh, one more thing... I had the need on three occasions for Adobe support, and I have to tell ya. I was initially hesitant to make the call because of what I read. But I did. Sorry to the folks who had a bad time, but.... On all three occasions, they were
absolutely perfect and helpful, resolving all and everything I needed. I was shocked!
So that's my little story... (did I say at the top that I'd make this short?) Thanks for your time... I just felt compelled to say something positive. It's been a long time since I have felt kind of excited about using a puter....  My $12.50 a week, and the CC
has given that back to me too.
    Thanks
    Cliff
PS... to lazy to proof this, so forgive any typos, or miserable grammar.

You have summed up very well how I feel too. CC is great!!!

  • How do i share files from my pc to my mac

I need to know how to get a pic off my pc and transfer it to my mac wirelessly. I was trying to sell something online using my mac, and the pic i needed was on my pc. I tried to "share it" but was not able to get into my pc. Any suggestions?

Normal Windows file sharing should be picked up by a Mac, and vice versa. Usually if I have a lot of trouble doing it one way, I'll try it the other way (in this case if I had trouble seeing the PC from the Mac, I would turn on file sharing on the Mac and pick it up from the PC and copy the file to the Mac.)
Another easy way is to use Internet file sharing like Dropbox. Install Dropbox on both computers and copy the file across that way. Or if you don't want to install anything, simply use the web page of the file sharing service (Dropbox, Box, Microsoft SkyDrive/OneDrive, etc) on both ends to upload and download the file. There are lots of ways to do it.

  • Daily Errors in the System Event Log

Once a day, presumably due to scheduled maintenance task running, on our Windows 8.1 systems (set up with local accounts) we're seeing the following DistributedCom messages, ID 10010, logged:
The server {BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The server {1B1F472E-3221-4826-97DB-2C2324D389AE} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The events are logged about 30 seconds apart.
A search of the registry reveals the first event is related to SkyDrive, specifically "Automatic Maintenance task to enable SkyDrive file sync to make progress while in Connected Standby" while the second seems to
also be related to sync maintenance ("SyncEngineCOMServer Class").
On a system with a local account, and on which no SkyDrive access is needed/wanted, what's the method to disable the software that's apparently still trying to access SkyDrive?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes for anyone who actually came to this thread for the topic, going off on a tangent is confusing as at a glance we think what you are talking about is relative to the topic and we then have to waste time reading many irrelevant comments to figure out you're
going off a tangent. Thnks for that!
Really?  You think going off topic AFTER arriving at the definitive answer is a real problem for you?
Then you complain that the off topic talk interferes with your totally unrelated question?
New to internet forums?  Hint:  Start your own thread.
To summarize this one:  On a system where the user wants no part of SkyDrive / OneDrive, there's a scheduled task that remains and tries to access the online resources.  Someone at Microsoft forgot to get rid of it when OneDrive is disabled.
    Simple as that.

  • Nokia Lumia 820 issues after Lumia Black update...

Before updating to the Lumia Black update:
    1. Was able to connect the Nokia Lumia 820 to my home PC using Windows 8.1 and it was able to see the device and files on it as well as sync music from Windows Media Player to the device.
    2. Was able to connect to the Nokia Lumia 820 from one of my Office PCs using Windows 8.0 and was able to see the device and files on it.
As well as to manually install Windows Phone 8 applications or install the Windows Phone 8 applications via Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate from either PC.
After the Lumia Black update, Neither PC can see files on the Nokia Lumia 820 nor can any application send files to the Phone's Memory Card or Second Memory Card. (SD Class 10)
Very frustrated with the Lumia Black update. Lumia Amber worked just fine.
I haven't changed anything as far as I know on my Nokia Lumia 820 device to cause said issues nor have I abused the device in any way.
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    Thank you,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Simply wanted to add 3 new audio tracks to the Music files via Windows Media Player but cannot even connect the device like it did less than 45 days ago when everything was working properly.
All my music files are on the SD Card because the file space needed is more than the 7.3 GB on the base memory for the unit. (Something like 8.1+ GB at the present time of 29.8 GB... which is the formatted size of the 32 GB SD Class 10 card.)
When the Nokia Lumia 820 is connected to my home Windows 8.1 computer, Windows knows about it but cannot finish the handshake to see the device and the 2 memory areas on the device.
Have to determine which programs that I have installed after the initialization that I want to restore.
The problem at the moment is that turning off the unit loses ALL Music Album Data but the songs are still there. This seems to have been caused by Lumia Black Update but not sure if that is true or not.
Have a lot of stuff to backup before resetting the device. Perhaps could upload everything to SkyDrive / OneDrive then restore the data after a full reset of the device.
I have all my cell phone contact data backed up but would like to backup all text messages too.
I have 2 custom applications that I have developed but are not yet setup using the Windows Phone 8 Development License as released products... that will be done soon.
Cannot backup the latest pictures on the phone... not many since the last backup but there are pictures that are not restorable that I would like to keep.
Would rather not have to do a complete reset but may have no choice.
    Thanks,
    BillNew

  • Filter Manager failed to attach to volume...

Filter Manager failed to attach to volume '\Device\HarddiskVolume52'.  This volume will be unavailable for filtering until a reboot.  The final status was 0xC03A001C.
System is Windows 8.0 Pro 64-bit. Error seems to occur daily, around the time of a backup operation. Backup errors regard failure to backup Skydrive directory. From other threads, it seems this error involves VM disks. Since I am not running VM on this machine,
that would be most disconcerting if the error does not involve Skydrive (onedrive). The number of errors matches the number of directories skipped.
All users on machine show Onedrive folders in Explorer. Could the Skydrive folders be remnants somewhere, perhaps the registry, that can be removed.

Please see information in this link:

According to the guide above, we can view the Details of the event log, find its process ID (PID), then find the realted process\service with the PID which causes this issue, you can use Task Manager, it will be mostly cause by Windows Search service.

I can connect to my account from the phone (nokia 701Belle + updates) and I can also reach my account on internet, but it is not possible to have a connection through my Nokia Suite. Have tried it on my win8, win7 and vista, same result/problem.
It is not possible to make a new account in Nokia Suite.
Some weeks ago I have updated my f-secure on all maschines.
Moderator's Note: The title is edited as a new topic is created.

Nokia Suite connects to the server account.nokia.com and auth.gfx.ms. For these servers, SSL 3 was disabled on October 15th 2014. As of today, these servers require TLS 1.0. Nokia Suite does not use TLS 1.0 but only SSL 3, because Nokia Suite uses the QT framework 4.7.4. Up to that version, the QtNetwork class QSslSocket used SSL 3 and not TLS 1.0 as default protocol. You can test yourself via a terminal command and OpenSSL:
    openssl s_client -connect account.nokia.com:443 -ssl3
which simulates the behaviour of the Nokia Suite. Therefore, the initial request of the Nokia Suite is rejected with a SSL/TLS handshake-failure. Because of that, Nokia Suite gives this wrong error message. Hopefully, Nokia enables SSL 3 again. Edit: added workarounds
1st Workaround – use another tool
If you skip the creation of an account and ignore that wrong error message, you are still able to use the Nokia Suite. Only these features need an account:
    Software Update:
    A) Software Recovery Tool (requires Windows 7 or newer; does full reset)
    B) Nokia Software Updater (updates; does not work for devices since 2011)
    Nokia Music: MixRadio » Settings » Purchase-History …
Nokia Store: download from its webpage …
Purchase History: view on its webpage …
    Upload to SkyDrive/OneDrive:
    A) Transfer my Data (for contacts),
    B) Microsoft Outlook 2013 (for contacts and calendar), and/or
    C) Micro-USB cable (for photos)
2nd Workaround – replace a DLL file (3rd Edit: added exit step, reduced to just one DLL)
exit the Nokia Suite via right-click in (bottom, left) Windows Notification Area (system tray)
download this modified version of ssleay32.dll …
replace this file at C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Suite\
A previous version of this workaround forgot the step of installing the ‘Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013’. Later, this step was added. As of today, this installation step is not required anymore because the DLL was updated and does not need that package anymore. If you still face an issue, report here in this thread! If everything works, please, just give kudos by clicking at that star on the right.
    3rd Workaround – update to Nokia Suite 3.8.54 …
