Behaviour of 'NOT IN' in Stored Procedure

Hello,
I am encountering an abnormal behavior of 'NOT IN' in my .hdbprocedure. It was working fine a couple of days ago but today it doesn't yield any result.
If I execute the same query via SQL Console ( replacing sub query for col2 with hardcoded values), it works fine. If I replace NOT IN with <> , it works fine.
I am on SP7 rev 73.
CREATE PROCEDURE "TEST".TEST_PROC" (in RECORD_TYPE varchar(2))
LANGUAGE SQLSCRIPT
SQL SECURITY INVOKER
DEFAULT SCHEMA "TEST"
AS
BEGIN
/* CHECKING FOR THE RECORD TYPE FROM THE INPUT PARAMETER */
  If :RECORD_TYPE = 'R' THEN
         items[1] := 'R';
items[2] := 'D' ;
  ELSEIF :RECORD_TYPE = 'MR' THEN
     items[1] := :RECORD_TYPE;
END IF;
/* Unnesting the array to a
table variable */
  v_table = UNNEST(:items) AS ("REC_TYPE");
Insert  into
new_table(col1,col2,col3,col4)
-- the following select doesnt
return any record in proc; whereas it returns records when run on SQL console
Select distinct  col1,col2,col3,col4
from TABLE_INPUT
where
COALESCE(col1,0) NOT in (Select Parameter_Value from T_CONFIG where Parameter_name = 'check'
                                                and pack ='GENERAL' and Active='1')
and col2 IN (SELECT REC_TYPE FROM :v_table);
END;

Thanks for your response Patrick.
Your suggestion should work too but I am curious as to why 'NOT IN' is not working now.
As I mentioned earlier that '<>' or NOT EXIST can work, but if I have to make this change then I
would have to do it in the entire codebase; just to be sure that I do not encounter this issue again.

  • Working in Sql, not working in Stored procedure

    Dear friends,
    I am puzzled about this strange working of Oracle , although I know that there is some problem with my code. I paste my code here. The delete statement is working properly in SQL Plus 8.0, but it is not working when I call this stored procedure from the Form.
    FUNCTION delete_record_treaty (

    Thanks in advance.
    All the paramaters that I pass, are correctly being passed to this stored procedure.

  • Reports in BIDS does not update when stored procedure is modified

    Hi,
    I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1, and BIDS 2008 SP1. The problem I am about to define does NOT happen when the report is deployed to the report server, but only within the report development environment (BIDS).
    From within BIDS my reports are fed by stored procedures. The problem is when I modify a stored procedure in Management Studio, and refresh the report from within BIDS, the report does not reflect the new changes made in the stored procedure. So far I have
    found one clumsy solution to this problem:
    1) Go to the folder where the project is saved on the file system.
    2)Find the ".data" file that is associated to the particular report, then delete it.  For instance, if my report name is TestReport.rdl, find the file named TestReport.rdl.data, then delete it.
    However, I would like to find a better, and permanent solution. Please comment.
    Thank you!

    Hi AmirBabazadeh,
    Base on my research, this issue is caused by data caching in the Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS). When we modify the stored procedure in Management Studio, but the data of the report doesn’t change, then it will try to cached data when reprocessing
    the report. In this scenario, we should try to refresh the report/dataset, or delete the .rdl.data file to avoid this issue as you are now doing.
    In order to refresh the data of the report, the following two methods are for your reference:
    Manual refresh: Re-run the stored procedure with Query Designer in Dataset Properties dialog box.
    Auto refresh: Set the AutoRefresh property of report to an appropriate value in the Properties window.
    Hope this helps.

  • Weird behaviour with Variables of a Stored Procedure

    Hello All,
       I'm writing following stored procedure and it is failing with following error
    "Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier"
     What's Happening?
      I've created
    Create Procedure usp_Sample
    AS
    Declare @Var Int
    Select @Var = Key From MyKeyTable Where Name = 'XYZ'
    Select * From BaseTable A
    LEFT JOIN JoinTable B
    ON A.UniqueIdentifierField = CONVERT(UNIQUEIDENTIFIER,B.VarcharField)
    AND B.Key = @Var
    GO
    Procedure got created and when you execute it you see the above error...
    If I remove the Variable and HardCode it with any value then it runs fine...
    Could someone tell me what is wrong with the variable here? (I Can't hardcode the Variable Value In the Proc).
    "BaseTable" has a field that is UniqueIdentifier and "JoinTable" has a NVARCHAR (1020) Field. But JoinTable has proper UniqueIdentifier data.
    Let me know if you need anymore info...

    Could someone tell me what is wrong with the variable here? (I Can't hardcode the Variable Value In the Proc).
    You are making the mistake to assume that just because is no error message, nothing is wrong.
    Apparently there are values in the varchar column which are not GUIDs, so saying
       CONVERT(UNIQUEIDENTIFIER,B.VarcharField)
    is an accident waiting to happen. But it does not have to blow up, just like you don't have to crash when you drive on the wrong side of the road. If you are lucky, there are no cars there in that moment.
    There is no defined order in which operands are evaluated in SQL Server, and using a variable or a constant is very likely to give you diffeent query plan.
    If you are on SQL 2012, use try_convert instead which will return NULL if the value does not convert. But Naomi is probably right when she suggest that you should convert the GUID to string, given the structure of the query.

  • How do I get return parameters from a stored procedure call?

    The Open SQL Statement has an option on the Advanced tab to specify a command type of 'stored procedure'. In addition to returning a recordset, a stored procedure can also return parameters (see http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q185/1/25.ASP for info on doing this with ADO). Is it possible to get those return parameters with TestStand? In particular, I want to be able to get error codes back from the stored procedure in case it fails (maybe there is another way).

    The Open SQL Statement step type does not fully support stored procedures. If the procedure returns a record set than you can fetch the values as you would a SELECT statement. Stored procedures require you to setup the parameters before the call and this is not yet supported. Bob, in his answer, made a reference to the Statements tab and I think that he was talking about the Database Logging feature in TS 2.0.
    If the stored procedure is returning a return value, it may return as a single column, single row recordset which can be fetched as you normally do a record set.

    You need to grant right on the table to the owner of the stored procedure directly (not via Role).
    When there are only rights via role everything is fine in sql, but it will not work in stored procedures, functions or packages.
    So as Table-Owner do:
    grant select on <table> to <procedure, package or function-owner>;Edited by: hm on 22.10.2010 08:49

  • Calling Stored Procedure without JDBC-Adapter

    Hallo,
    as it is not possible calling Stored Procedures with the parameter Typ Record in Oracle my question: It is possible connecting to DB using native java-code for example in Mapping?
    Thanks in advance,
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
    Maybe you can use the DB look up using the JDBC adapter in your mapping.
    Just check this blog for the same,
    /people/siva.maranani/blog/2005/08/23/lookup146s-in-xi-made-simpler
    As for calling an Oracle Strored Procedure, it is possible using a RECEIVER JDBC adapter, but not a SENDER JDBC adapter.
    <i> import the jdbc-driver (oracle) in an archive in Designer.</i>
    Also, this imported archive should be under any Namespace, but, it should be in the same SWCV as the one in which the mapping is being executed.

  • How to use Stored Procedures in form 6i Blocks

    Dear Friends,
    I would like to know how to use Stored Procedures while creating blocks in Data Block Wizard in forms 6i application.
    Please send me sample code of stored procedure.
    Regards,
    Khader.

    The Data Block Wizard is not for creating stored procedures. It will allow you to use a stored procedure in your form. See the help documentation for how to use the wizard.
    Here's an example of a simple procedure. If you search the database forum or the web, you will find many examples.
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE procedure_name (value OUT NUMBER ) AS
    BEGIN
    SELECT COUNT(*) INTO value
    FROM your_table;
    END;

    David,
    You can use a database control to obtain a connection from any JDBC
    Connection Pool configured in the config.xml file. The JDBC Connectionpool
    could be connecting to any database, the database control is

  • Sender JDBC Adapter - Stored procedure

    Hello all, I just read a lot of topics in this forum about this subject.
    I found two indications in contracdictions in the documentation :<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7e/5df96381ec72468a00815dd80f8b63/frameset.htm">Configuring the Sender JDBC Adapter</a>
    1. Concerning Query SQL Statement
    You have the following options:
    &#9679;     Specify a valid SQL SELECT statement to select the data to be sent from the specified database.
    &#9679;     Specify an SQL EXECUTE statement to execute a stored procedure, which contains exactly one SELECT statement.
    2. Concerning Update SQL Statement :
    This is recommended if the data has not only been read, but also changed by a stored procedure entered under Query SQL Statement.
    It is ambigous, isn't it ?
    My question is simple :
    Does somebody already use Sender JDBC Adapter with Stored procedure as Select statement including many steps :
    - update actions on database
    - select query to return data to XI adapter
    (Update statement stay empty or with value <TEST>.
    To provide more information, I have a reference table to read. But this reference table must be updated by a stored procedure before being able to be read accordingly.
    So As I can't do both process with Sender Adapter (call a procedure and execute a select statement) => I want to include both actions (updates and select) in an alone stored procedure.
    Could I get wanted data as a resultset ?

    Hi,
    >><i>Update statement stay empty or with value <TEST>.</i>
    It should be <TEST> if you do not want an Update to happen.
    Regarding Sender JDBC adapter with stored procedures, which DB are you trying to access. Sender JDBC adapter does not support Oracle Stored Procedures as they return Cursors and Sender JDBC adapter can deal with only Resultset.
    As for executing both Update and Select in the SP, though I havent tried, this should surely be possible.

    PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'TEST_PDC_RECORDSET'
    If i use Oracle's odbc i get: "Error in function sequence".
    If i use Merants (5.2) odbc i cannot retreive stored procedure list. (list is empty)
    Note.
    My stored procedure works (tested via sqlplus).
    thank u daniele

    Returning (or sending in) multiple rows directly from (or to) a stored procedure is not currently possible. I have been in contact with SAP on this subject earlier, and they suggest using a web service to do the job. I used this as a work around, calling the stored procedure from a web service. I send in VC tables to this web service, and this in turn contacts my stored procedure.
    The problem is related to the connector framework in the J2EE environment.
    I am on 7.0 sps 17
    If you use stored procedure single value parameters of type varchar, number ... then VC has no problem communicating with your procedures.
    Good luck

  • Calling stored procedure from script on remote server

    We are migrating our database to a virtual server environment. On the current dedicated environment, the database and scripts(calling stored procedures) are on the same server. In the new envoirnment, the scripts, input and output files will be on a different server. Does anyone have any examples of scripts on one server calling stored procedures on another server. Don't laugh, but the db server is currently running Oracle 9i (part of the new enviornment to move to 11g).

    sorry my terminolgy is not correct. the stored procedure is in the database and the database is on server a. The script is on server b. In your example you show how to log onto the database. That I know. In your example your example, how would you point to server b so you can log onto the database?Do you want to mean that your procedure (location A) want to call a script from location B ?
    make the script located folder as shared and ,You may try this
    //server_name/folder_name/file_name.xxxHope this helps
