Best application servers?

hi
i m new to j2ee and ejb can some one tell me that which are the best Application server. other than jboss and java application server (from sun)?
thanx alot in advance

Best = BEA WebLogic
Worst = IBM WebSphere
I hear good things about JBoss too, and since it's
free (unlike the above 2) it's very attractive, SUN AS is nice, too. You can use it free of charge and unlike JBoss it has a nice GUI console and free documentation.

  • Best application servers: weblogiv and websphere?

Hi I have heard that if I want to do JSP on NT with IIS the most widely adopted middleware is weblogic and websphere is this true? Which is the most expensive and which is the easiest for a beginner to get to grips with?

If you are a beginner with JSPs and Servlets, but want to work with the J2EE component model strictly for developer purpose, have a look at Reisen, JBoss, JRun (dev edition), and Tomcat. My preferred container is Tomcat but running with Apache rather than IIS. I've spent one too many times reimaging drives after virus fiascos. If you want to get grips with the two mentioned, check their web sites... the documentation is quite vast.

I am a new mac user and I switch to mac due to the graphics that it brings. I do website in pc and I heard iweb is the best.NOW i heard that iweb will be discontinue. so what is the best application there for website using MAC OSX lion?

It is now confirmed  that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

  • WebDynpro Notification Service with multiple Application Servers

    Hello Experts,
I am currently working on a project where I have to integrate a BSP Application into a new Web Dynpro ABAP Application. On the BSP Page it is possible to edit some details (for example for a customer).
When the user start to work on the BSP Page, the Web Dynpro Page should prohibit the navigation (i.e. disable all links). After Saving the BSP page, the navigation lock is released and the Web Dynpro reloads some data, which were changed from the BSP Page.
I have a NetWeaver 7.02 so I decided to use Shared Objects and the new Web Dynpro Notification Service to realize the given requirements. On the development system everything worked fine. The Notification Service was called and it took about 2 Seconds until the Web Dynpro Application updated.
But we got serious problems on the testmachine, which uses a Web Dispatcher and two application servers. After some research we managed that the application is running, and works.
But the Notification Service takes now up to 1 Minute until it fires the registered actions. And I good frequently an ASSERTION_FAILED from the method CL_WDR_NOTIFICATION=>ATTACH_FOR_READ in the ST22 as long as the application is running.
Can anybody help me how to solve this issue. It is a real blocker for the project.
If there is another way to establish eventing between Web Dynpro and BSP I would also go for another solution. But I don't think there are many other possibilities (SAP Portal and NWBC are no options - Maybe the new Web Dynpro PageBuilder?).
    Best Regards
    Daniel

    Hello Guys,
we decided to do a workaround for the moment. We use a refresh button on the Web Dynpro screen. That is not very nice, but sufficient for the moment.
Anyway: I am still interessted in the BSP-Web Dynpro Interaction Issue. So if somebody has any ideas, please let me know.
@PageBuilder: Currently the page builder does not work on the system, because of an 403 - Error when I try to call the Application-Configurator (the SICF service is active). But I will try this also as soon as this problem is solved.

  • Advantages of using a webserver inbetween a load balancer and application servers

I am building out a new weblogic domain.
I am wondering which one of these configuration to go with:
    1. Load balancer > weblogic servers
    2. Load balancer > web server > weblogic servers
Could someone tell me what are the specific advantages of having web servers inbetween a load balancer and application servers (besides caching static data content and acting as a proxy)?
    Thanks in advance
    Srini

Other than hosting the static content, nothing much really.   We have our load balancer go straight to WL for applications without static content and route to web server if there is static content.   Easy enough to do it both ways, best of both worlds.

  • In Solution Landscape Application Servers are not displaying

  • Multiple PIA/Application servers to one database?

We're planning an upgrade to PT 8.50, FSCM 9.1 and with this upgrade we want to add access for outside customers/vendors. What's the best way to configure an internal employee site/app, and a customer site/app to one production database? Is it as simple as installing different application servers and PIAs, point them all to the one database, and configure 1 PIA as EMPLOYEE and the others as CUSTOMER? Or should we also need use Portal 9.0? I've been doing some research into this, but was hoping to hear some real-world experience and advice from anyone else that's set up anything similar.
    Thanks,
    -rob

you can have a PIA built for outside customers hitting the same database.
you can even have separate PIA hitting same app servers and db.
If you are planning on having an external site outside your firewall - for CUSTOMER (portal) make sure the external site is built to work only for CUSTOMER portal.
u might also want to design your customer ID base - using specific permissions and roles.
    hope this helps.

  • Check SITSPMON at multiple application servers at once

    Dear Sirs,
we are in a setting with close to 10 application servers. To the memory consumption and current status on my system, I need to check SITSMON on every application server.
Is there an easy way to get a STISPMON like (e.g watch memory) on all the application servers in one go?
    best regards,
    Jørgen

    Dear Jørgen,
at the moment we do not have an easy way to monitor more than one application server  within SITSPMON. I am the developer of SITSPMON and happy to read your question. I do agree in your wish to have a feature like this.
How to implement? I would suggest to provide an additional check box in the dialog panes for
    *the memory staistics,
*the HTML templates cache directory, and
    *the Mutex lock statistics.
This checkbox allows to switch between 'system' and 'application server mode' checking it will result in an enhaced table, containing an additional column for the appl server...
Do you agree? Better ideas? If this fits to your  requirement, I will implement this. And ideas are welcome always.
BTW: Did you already check the CCMS? There a technical experts monitor for the internal ITS. This might be helpful four you.
    best regards

  • Kernel Upgrade reflecting in application servers

    Hello All,
I have question regarding kernel upgrade .
while performing kernel upgrade ,we uncar the files and replace the exe file in central instance (/sapmnt/<sid>/) .
After restarting the server , it is automatically getting reflected in appl.servers too.
Can any one tell me the work around beyond it .On what basis this is exactly getting updated by default in appl. servers too ?
    Best Regards
    Rakesh

If you look in the start profile of the application servers you will find the sapcpe program that runs at startup.  This program is responsible for going out and looking to see if there is a newer kernel available at the CI.  If it does see a newer version it will copy the correct files out to the application server.

  • Do all the weblogic application servers need to share storage in order to implement high availability?

I would like to understand if a shared storage is required for all application servers that will run weblogic + oracle identity manager.  I've been using the following oracle guides : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40329_01/doc.1112/e28391/iam.htm#BABEJGID and http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/availability/maa-deployment-blueprint-1735105.pdf and from my interpretation both talk about configuring all the application servers with access to a shared storage.  From an architecture standpoint, does this mean all the application servers need access to an external hard disk?  if shared storage is required what are the steps to implement it?
    Thanks,
    user12107187

You can do it and it will work. But Fusion Middleware products have EDG to provide guidelines to help you to implement high availability.
Having a shared storage will help you to recover from storage failure, otherwise this might be a point of failure.
    Enterprise Deployment Overview
"An Oracle Fusion Middleware enterprise deployment:
Considers various business service level agreements (SLA) to make high-availability best practices as widely applicable as possible
Leverages database grid servers and storage grid with low-cost storage to provide highly resilient, lower cost infrastructure
Uses results from extensive performance impact studies for different configurations to ensure that the high-availability architecture is optimally configured to perform and scale to business needs
Enables control over the length of time to recover from an outage and the amount of acceptable data loss from a natural disaster
Evolves with each Oracle version and is completely independent of hardware and operating system "

  • How many external application servers?

Our SAP system is quite small and serves about 150 users (Netveaver 7 and ERP 2006)
We are moving our very old physical servers from hardware to a virtual environment, which is very powerful.
At the moment we use three application servers on three seperate hardware servers, and one on the central instance.
Now all servers (SAP central instance plus application servers) will be moved to one physical machine on VMware.
Does it make sense to install again more application servers in seperate Windows-VM's, or ist it ok just to use one application server at the central instance for all users? The VM-host has much more power then all existing servers together.
I didn't find any information about this question in SAP's documentation.
    best regards
    Stefan

    Hello
What matters here is the number of work processes. If you are planning to configure the target system with CI and an AS then you are losing the work processes provided by the other 2 AS's from the existing setup unless you set up the target system with more work processes for CI and AS. I would check the total number of work processes in the present setup and calculate the difference with the target configuration (CI + AS). If the target machine is powerful and if there is a need to have more work processes then I would increase the work processes on the CI and AS instead of having 3 AS's. There is nothing wrong in having more than 1 AS but there is no point in having more AS's if there is no use. If the requirement can be achievable with the help of additional work processes then I would consider increasing the work processes than having an additional AS.
You can make use of this consulting note for configuration of work processes.

  • Can't see SAP- Application Servers in Visual Studio 2003 Server Explorer

    Hi Experts
I installed SAP .NET Connector 2 in Visual Studion 2003. I can add SAP Connector Proxy to the project but I can't see SAP->Application Servers in Server Explorer window in Visual Studio. So I can't add a new SAP application server. Refreshing Server Explorer doesn't help. Does anybody know any solution?

  • Allow relay from application servers

    Hi,
Can we allow Relay for cloud application servers. If so, how can it be done. ? Plz let me know.
    Thanks

    Hi Sree_0507,
If you want to allow anonymous relay, you need to create a new Receive connector on the Hub Transport server and use the Shell to grant the relay permission to anonymous connections.
Depending on your situation, you should only add your application servers IPs instead of the default settings(0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255).
Here’s an article for your reference:

  • Application servers configuration: SAP Cook book

    Hi,
As per the Cook book for the Business Suite on HANA migration, there is no changes required on the application servers .
Its only that we will have a change in database i.e., instead of db2 , oracle we will have HANA database.
    But a few queries :
    1. If there is no change in configuration required for App. servers,  How does the Application servers connect to HANA DB
    2. Normally to increase the work process with traditional databases like db2, we need to add the memory and additional CPU in DB host server.
How does one can manage the increase in dialog work process here in HANA i.e., the memory still needs to be increased or it is handled in a different way?
    Please clarify.
