Best approach deploying BPM processes

Hello,
What is the best approach deploying a process through different organization units, as far as I understand when a process is deployed it is associated with an OU (for example a child OU_1) and then it is deployed to a soa_domain_1 so if I want to deploy the process to another child OU_2, Do I have to create another soa_domain_2 for it?.
Thank you.

Hi Daniel I am using the 11.1.1.6.0

  • Error after deploying BPM Process due to VC-TaskUI

    Hello,
i'm trying to run a successfully deployed BPM Process with one Task created in Visual Composer. The task is consuming a Webservice from the ESWorplace. The task appears in the UWL, when I click it, this error message comes:
(The error only appears when i try to usa a webservice - without anything, just a simple UI, everythin runs well)
The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:

    It is a CE7.2 System with NWDS 7.2 SP001.
    What is the reason?
    Greetings,
    Oliver

    Problem solved.
In VC - in a datashare - I made an optional Input field of a Webservice (0...n) required (1...1). Apparently there is a bug in the Interface between VC and BPM (Start- and End-Point). Because the "made-required" Context-Node created in VC appear in BPM (in the Inputmapping of the Task) as an infinite-loop of Childnodes. This is the reason for the Error-Message.
Maybe this bug was fixed in newer SP's (I have SP01).
    Greetings, Oliver

  • How deploy BPM process with ADF form?

    Hi everybody,
I'm a newbie on BPM (11g) and ADF. I've created a BPM process and an ADF train into the same project.
I was wonder if I can deploy the ADF stuff and start to test only the train before hook up the ADF form with the UserActivity.
How I can do that? How can deploy it? Better create a jar or ear?
    Any suggestions?
    Best Regards.
    Fairlie

    Hi Daniel,
yes I have two separate projects - BPM and ADF - in the same applications.
For now, I'd like to work only on ADF project implementing the front end that I will use in next future into my BPM project.
Every time I click on Run on the main page in ADF project, JDev tries to deploy the entire application.
I need to work only on ADF for now and testing it. The soa server is on remote server.
I've tried to deploy the ADF project on remote server and I get this error:
'Weblogic Server Exception: weblogic.application.ModuleException: Failed to load webapp
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter'.
I've checked the oracle.adf.model library class path and It's ok...so I do not understand why I get this error.
What do you think is better to do? Trying to deploy the ADF with war, jar or ear...or...?
Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

  • What is the best option for my process

Hi Gurus Can any one guide me which is the best available option for my business process.
in our client process We have a Final Product(say A). and two Vendors (say Vendor1 and vendor2)
This Final Product is made up of 3 other parts Lets say B,C and D.
So The client buys Product B and Product C from the Vendor1 and Product D from Vendor2
The vendor1 supplies the both the parts(A and B) to Vendor2.
The Vendor2 Takes the Parts B, C and Joins with Part D and deliver the final product A to the client.
There is no assembly cost for Vendor2- he charges for only part D.
Can anyone tell which is the best available option for my client.
    Please help me ASAP
    Thanks

    Hi Amar,
There are many other factors that you need to take into consideration to define best approach for the process.
You have to know what type of control you want to have of the "production" of the product "A". Who is the owner of the components B and C while they are at vendor 2.
Who is the payer and how are you going to receive invoices of vendor 1 (you receive invoices for components according to the quantity of product A you receive in your company, or you receive invoices for all B and C received at vendor 2??)
Its no easy to give you a feedback without more information.

  • BPM: Error when trying to deploy an process containing a database adapter

    Hello,
We are facing an issue when we try to deploy a BPM/SOA application containing a BPM process containing a database adapter.
So, I only created a new BPM process (async process) and added a database adapter to insert something in a database, then called this database adapter in a service activity.
In the weblogic console, the DbAdapter targets are correct. I created the data source with a JNDI name, with the correct targets also.
In BPM I suppose I do not have to manually change any setting file ?
I simply create the database adapter and specify the correct JNDI name ?
when I try to deploy, I always receive the following error :

  • What is the best approach to process data on row by row basis ?

    Hi Gurus,
I need to code stored proc to process sales_orders into Invoices. I
think that I must do row by row operation, but if possible I don't want
to use cursor. The algorithm is below :
for all sales_orders with status = "open"
    check for credit limit
if over credit limit -> insert row log_table; process next order
    check for overdue
if there is overdue invoice -> insert row to log_table; process
    next order
check all order_items for stock availability
if there is item that has not enough stock -> insert row to
    log_table; process next order
if all check above are passed:
    create Invoice (header + details)
    end_for
What is the best approach to process data on row by row basis like
    above ?
    Thank you for your help,
    xtanto

Processing data row by row is not the fastest method out there. You'll be sending much more SQL statements towards the database than needed. The advice is to use SQL, and if not possible or too complex, use PL/SQL with bulk processing.
In this case a SQL only solution is possible.
The example below is oversimplified, but it shows the idea:
    SQL> create table sales_orders
      2  as
      3  select 1 no, 'O' status, 'Y' ind_over_credit_limit, 'N' ind_overdue, 'N' ind_stock_not_available from dual union all
      4  select 2, 'O', 'N', 'N', 'N' from dual union all
      5  select 3, 'O', 'N', 'Y', 'Y' from dual union all
      6  select 4, 'O', 'N', 'Y', 'N' from dual union all
      7  select 5, 'O', 'N', 'N', 'Y' from dual
      8  /
    Tabel is aangemaakt.
    SQL> create table log_table
      2  ( sales_order_no number
      3  , message        varchar2(100)
      4  )
      5  /
    Tabel is aangemaakt.
    SQL> create table invoices
      2  ( sales_order_no number
      3  )
      4  /
    Tabel is aangemaakt.
    SQL> select * from sales_orders
      2  /
            NO STATUS IND_OVER_CREDIT_LIMIT IND_OVERDUE IND_STOCK_NOT_AVAILABLE
             1 O      Y                     N           N
             2 O      N                     N           N
             3 O      N                     Y           Y
             4 O      N                     Y           N
             5 O      N                     N           Y
    5 rijen zijn geselecteerd.
    SQL> insert
      2    when ind_over_credit_limit = 'Y' then

      4    when ind_overdue = 'Y' and ind_over_credit_limit = 'N' then

  • Separate deployment of UI and BPM process.

    Hi All,
We are encountering memory issues while deploying our Fusion web application(11.1.1.5) on server with following config details:-
Weblogic server 10.3 (installable was generic for 64 bit OS),
Windows Server 2003 SP2 with 64 bit support,
    RAM is 8 GB.
As a workaround, now we want to deploy UI (ADF) separately from BPM process.
Is it feasible? If yes, then how?
Any help or pointers in this regard would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    PK

    Hi PK
Yes, and infact the more standard way to deploy any workflow application is in 2 parts. One is the actual workflow sca jar file, that has all the workflow, tasks, bpel stuff etc. And the other is full application itself with all the projects like TaskForms, any other EJB projects, util projects etc EXCEPT the workflow and deploy this as EAR. So from JDeveloper, application level menu, you can create a deployment profile and add all the projects (including taskforms) BUT NOT the workflow project in the assembly section. This is you full EAR. Then for Workflow project, you can always deploy to a JAR file. Take these EAR and JAR and deploy to any soa application server.
NOTE: When you generate JAR for Workflow, make sure NOT to check your TaskForm projects. It will show list of all projects with check boxes, do not check them.

  • R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 Upgrade - Best Approach?

    Hi,
We have to upgrade R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0
We have to do th DB, Unicode and R/3 upgrade. I want to know what are the best approaches available and what risks are associated iwth each approach.
We have been considering the following approaches (but need to understand the risk for each approach).
    1) DB and Unicode in 1st and then R/3 upgrade after 2-3 months
I want to understand that if we have about 700 Include Program changing as part of unicode conversion, how much of the functional testing is required fore this.
    2) DB in 1st step and then Unicode and R/3 together after 2-3 months
Does it makes sense to combine Unicode and R/3 as both require similar testing? Is it possible to do it in 1 weekend with minimum downtime. We have about 2 tera bytes of data and will be using 2 systems fdor import and export during unicode conversion
    3) DB and R/3 in 1st step and then Unicode much later
We had discussion with SAP and they say there is a disclaimer on not doing Unicode. But I also understand that this disclaimer does not apply if we are on single code page. Can someone please let us know if this is correct and also if doing Unicode later will have any key challenges apart from certain language character not being available.
We are on single code pages 1100 and data base size is about 2 tera bytes
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul
regarding your 'Unicode doubt"' some ideas:
    1) The Upgrade Master Guide SAP ERP 6.0 and the Master Guide SAP ERP 6.0 include introductory information. Among other, these guides reference the SAP Service Marketplace-location http://service.sap.com/unicode@sap.
    2) In Unicode@SAP can you find several (content-mighty) FAQs
Conclusion from the FAQ: First of all your strategy needs to follow your busienss model (which we can not see from here):
Example. The "Upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005"-FAQ includes interesting remarks in section "DO CUSTOMERS NEED TO CONVERT TO A UNICODE-COMPLIANT ENVIRONMENT?"
"...The Unicode conversion depends on the customer situation....
... - If your organization runs a single code page system prior to the upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005, then the use of Unicode is not mandatory. ..... However, using Unicode is recommended if the system is deployed globally to facilitate interfaces and connections.
    - If your organization uses Multiple Display Multiple Processing (MDMP) .... the use of Unicode is mandatory for the mySAP ERP 2005 upgrade....."
In the Technical Unicode FAQ you read under "What are the advantages of Unicode ...", that "Proper usage of JAVA is only possible with Unicode systems (for example, ESS/MSS or interfaces to Enterprise Portal). ....
=> Depending on the fact if your systems support global processes, or depending on your use of Java Applications, your strategy might need to look different
    3) In particular in view of your 3rd option, I recommend you to take a look into these FAQs, if not already done.
Remark: mySAP ERP 2005 is the former name of the application, which is named SAP ERP 6.0, now

  • Performance of jdbc mapping lookup vs BPM Process

    Hello fellow consultants,
I have project on AEX upcoming and now I`m deciding the strategy.
I have to implement few processes for which I will use BPM. But inside these processes I have few jdbc calls for logging to the oracle db.
Regarding the performance - what is better approach?
make these jdbc calls as a jdbc lookup in mapping
perform it as a regular part of bpm process
    Thank you for suggestions
    VB

    Hi VB,
I have a different opinion than Fouad although I can understand his point, but for me, lookUps are rarely good and well implemented and it should be used in a very specific, required and critical scenarios. This is because this lookUp connection is not manageable, out of monitoring stuff and I don't think in the mapping step is the correct moment to open a JDBC connection with partner all of sudden.
My Idea is more for the point number 2, where you have everything well explicit step by step, opening the connection being manageable, with monitoring even though it may bring one or two steps more to your BPM but I'm more concerned at this moment to follow the best practice of integration and thinking in Performance I don't think there will be a gain that would justify the JDBC Lookup.

  • Migration of Open Tasks when BPM Processes Change during major releases

    Hi
This is the most often scenario faced by many project teams during Go-Lives of BPM Processes.
We would like to migrate BPM tasks from older BPM processes to newer BPM process. And there is substantial changes done between two releases.
Though I am aware that older BPM tasks created get suspended, is there way to do the following:
    1. Use any migration tools to migrate old BPM tasks to newer BPM task
    2. Simultaneously have both Older and Newer BPM Processes run in Environment, let them co-exist till the old BPM tasks get completed
What is the recommended approach for these kind of situations, when its not possible to either of the above activities.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Srikant

    Hi Srikant,
we were facing the same issues.  We have a solution for this, but it has some prerequisites to make it work.  I actually talked about it at the DSAG (German SAP User Group) conference (see blog) and promised the audience to blog about it in more detail, but haven’t yet found the time to do so.
First very important is to understand how the life cycle works.  There are two very important documents to read:
    SAP Note 1865683
SCN Artikel Understanding Business Process Lifecycle Management Features of SAP NetWeaver BPM
With complex processes and major changes, it is very complex to maintain multiple versions.  If you read through the above mentioned documents that becomes very clear.  Also there are other complexities, for example code reuse, data, support desk issues or user training.  There are also some restrictions running multiple versions of the same process (SAP Note 1865683)
So here is in short what we did.
We keep all our process data outside the process context in a database including the state, i.e. the current process step.  When we deploy a new major version, we cancel all running process instances and then restart them with the new process model.  To restart processes we use the SAP scheduler which starts a process if a specific status value is found.
If you don’t have your process data easily available you could use the process export function in the NWA.  The export is an XML file that you could possible parse, but I haven't actually tried this method.
In the process model we have an exclusive choice gateway where can import a process to specific process step.  This happens right at start of the process.  The gateway evaluates the status value mentioned above to decide where to go.
I hope to find the time to write the blog soon.  Here I could give you a complete example how we do the reimport of processes.
I’m also very interested in other ways to achieve this, so this should be an interesting discussion.
    Regards
    Detlev

  • Best approach for IDs mapping..

    Hello,
I'd like to ask you for your experiences about classical integration problem: mapping of IDs (materials, partners...)
What is the best approach for integration between SAP and other systems? Can you give me some hints?
    Thanx, Peter

    Hi Peter,
you have 4 ways to do it:
    1. you can do it inside an integration process:
RFC call for checking a table with ID -> ID mappings
(not so good as you have to use integration process)
but very easy to biuld as this is standard
    2. table in R/3 and changing the values in a user exit
(you maintaint the data in a table in R/3)
the fastest way (no calls to other programs)
but you have to create user exits and
this is not why you (your client) bought the XI
    3. you can use this new RFC API
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/uuid/801376c6-0501-0010-af8c-cb69aa29941c
which seems to be the best approach
as you don't need BPM for this and it's a standard
    4. value mapping tables in XI...
