Best Calc Function

Hi,
We have a cube which has following Dimensions,
Period - Jan to Dec
Scenario - Actual , Outlook (inputs)
View - YTD , MTD
YTD has a dynamic calculation to calculate Year to date value.
Substitution variable CurPrd holds the Current Period.
Now we need to change the OUTLOOK Year To Date by calculating as below,
* Say CurPrd is Apr,
* OUTLOOK Year To Date Value should be, Actual->Jan + Actual->Feb + Actual->Mar+ Actual->Apr + OUTLOOK->May + OUTLOOK->Jun....Dec
So depending on the *&CurPrd* the YTD Outlook should calculate dynamically,
Let us know the best function to use with example.
Thanks!

OUTLOOK Year To Date Value should be, Actual->Jan + Actual->Feb + Actual->Mar+ Actual->Apr + OUTLOOK->May + OUTLOOK->Jun....DecThis represents full year value as on that month. calculating this for YTD is not correct as it deviates from the definition of YTD.
Keep the YTD formula for outlook same as actual.
Better create another dynamic calc member FY_OUTLOOK in the View dimension.
I think Substitution variable CurPrd represents the current reporting month for which already actuals have been loaded.
you can write a below formula to calculate FY_OUTLOOK
if(@ismbr(Outlook))
YTD->"Actual"->&CurPrd + YTD->"outlook"->"Dec" - YTD->"outlook"->&CurPrd;
Endif

  • Using "calc' function to show if the cell is editable(EVDRE Reports)

    Hello All,
I have a question regarding using the "calc' property in my dimension 'ACCOUNT' in a EvDRE report to display the rows as calculated or input ready cells. I have developed an input template by opening a blank workbook and typing in EVDRE(). I have listed ACCOUNT to be in the rows and Time in the columns. I have listed the memberset to be members in the ACCOUNT and SELF, DEP in the Time dimension. Whenever I expand the EVDRE, I always get the cells to be 'yellow' in color similiar to the calc format. How do I differentiate between the Calculated cell and the input cell. I was thinking to use the CALC functionality similiar to the reports/input schedules written using EVGTS/EVSND functions.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi  bpc4livin,
Take note that even though you have specified the base members as memberset in your EVDRE, still you must have base level members in your Current View in the Action pane. Remember that each data cells in an EVDRE template is an intersection of the dimension in your rows and columns plus the rest of the dimensions in your application which would come in your current view if you don't define them as memberset. So as long as there is one calculated member in your current view still the cell would be marked as calculated.
You can use EVDRE's format range to format a scpecific cell or group of cells. To activate this after you typed the EVDRE and refresh the sheet, you must check the allow formatting option in the EVDRE builder that appears. I think that there is already a default format in the format range that says that if a data cell is calculated it would be colored yellow. So if you want further knowldege on how to use the format range, you could see the Using Reports Help in the See Also section of the action pane of the BPC Excel.
    Hope this helps,

  • Best Multi-Function Printer Software Compatible with OSX

About five years ago, I surveyed Multi-Function Color Laser/Scanners/Fax, etc.  I ended up with a Brother MFC9840CDW that I loved.  I had tried HP but their software was not as good, and too many features were disabled in OSX.  Brother supported almost everything and was reasonbly reliable.  While the scanning functions remains great, my old reliable Brother is getting a bit long in the tooth in terms of print quality and speed.  I am thinking of upgrading.
I would to love to find if anyone has experience with Multi-Function machines, particularly in terms of their software, for OSX.  I just picked up an HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401dw B&W, so not to put too much of a load on my color machine, and frankly, it is boss.  But it is not Multi-Function.  Can those who have experience chime in with who they think has great Multi-Function software for OSX, and even better if they have experience across different vendors to (briefly) compare.  It would be much appreciated.  Much of my focus is on flexibility and ease of scanning.

I second your inquiry. My Brother MFC7820N just died after 5 years. Was a great monochrome laser printer, scanner, and fax machine. The software always worked. I wonder how the MFC software of Canon or Epson compares?

  • Calc Function in Essbase

Can some on explain the below expression what exactly it returns as a result.i don't know this function "@JNthMbr" and "@Name".
I know that @Member function returns with the name of the member.
    (@ISMBR(@Member(@JNthMbr(@Name(@Descendants("Year")), 1))))

What's in your Years dimension? FY10, FY11, FY12, etc? Or 2010, 2011, 2012? Or Jan, Mar, Feb? Or Jan FY10, Mar FY10, Apr FY10, etc?
I am guessing that you have a Custom Defined Function (CDF) at play here with the @JNthMbr. I did a quick search at the samplecode.oracle.com Date CDF and don't see that function, so perhaps you have one custom written (they are called CDFs after all).
@NAME converts a member name to a string which I'll bet the CDF requires. If you look at the 11.1.1.3 example, it even shows passing a member name to a CDF. See: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/esb_techref/name.htm
Once the CDF is done, it needs to convert that string back into a member name. That's what @MEMBER does. See: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/esb_techref/member.htm
And then there's an @ISMBR test to see what the member value is. I'm a little unclear why all of the trouble was gone through as the members of the dimension can just be tested like this: IF(@ISMBR(membername)) So why all the complexity? No one writes a CDF for fun (okay, some people do, but not many).
Is the code figuring out a month based on a quarter? Or a Year Total? That's hard to guess without knowing what your Years hierarchy looks like.

  • I have a mac 27 inch computer and i want to know what would  be the best multi function printer to buy

i have a mac 27 inch computer and i woul like to know which multi function printer would be the most compatible with my mas osx 10.68 computer

Well, I am attending Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. I am an online student receiving my BFA. Afew months ago I received my Associates degree in Internet Specialist/Web Design at another college where I live. I just started at AAU so the only classes I've had so far are Illustrator and a design theory class. Well, the Illustrator class we've created many different things, from 3D characters(which is the assignment he had to cancel cause none of us had atleast 8GB of RAM), we've used live paint, messed with different brushes and symbols and vectors and all. We haven't gotten into the "Web Design" portion yet in this college. But from my other degree, I had to take C+, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, PHP, HTML, XHTML, CSS, we worked with Linux, Notepad++, and many other things. I absolutely love my Web Design career I have chosen and it's even better since I started at AAU.
As far as the books, I haven't really used my books in these classes because he puts up video tutorials and lessons for all of us to download and watch.

  • Best multi-function printer to work with both OS 10.3.9 and OS 10.4.6?

Now that HP's built-in obsolescence has left me looking to replace my once-trusty old psc 2175, I'm looking for another printer/scanner/copier that will do the same basics reliably & economically & with the same or better durability. (including photo card slots, plus printing via wired connection to AirPort Express) Any suggestions?
Also, since we use both G3 and G4 Macs, should I stay away from printers that specify only G4?
    Thank you.,

    Hi--
Can I ask what you did to solve it? My TiBook's internal airport is flaky and a PC card seems like the cheapest way to keep it going.

  • Bessel function best fit

    Hi all,
Quite new to LabVIEW. I am capturing diffraction images that are described by Bessel J functions. The maxima of the diffraction correspond to the maxima of the Bessel J functions ( or zeros of 1st derivative).  I wish to fit the diffraction image intensities to a Bessel J function , pixel value -> best fit to x in J(x). Has anyone previously done this before? I know the order n of the Bessel function but not necessarilly the pixel where x=0.
Similarly, I hope to fit the diffraction image of a pinhole which is an Airy Disk to use as calibration ie pixel -> m^-1.
Any help or suggestions would be gratefully accepted.
    Regards,
    Leeser

    Leeser,
Considering you are relatively new to labVIEW, your program was very well structured and seems to approach the problem in the right manner. As you correctly guessed right from the beginning, no-one it seems has attempted fitting a Bessel function to their data. The 'best-fit' VI's found in the 'Fitting Pallette' are more generally concerned with parametric, powers and exponential type functions, rather than more complex differentials such as the Bessel. In cases similar to yours, it seems that people haave tried adopting the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm which is a Non-Linear Fitting VI found in the Fitting Pallette. This is the Lev-Mar VI which Kristie Elam reccomended you using for the Airy disc. This function allows one to define the equation with which they wish to fit their data, but due to the complexity of the Bessel function, this may be quite tricky.
I have been working on an example VI which provides the basic structure of what you need to implement in to your program. The Bestfit VI converts a picture using the IMAQ functions and then plots the converted data. You can manipulate the row control to choose which row of pixels you wish to analyse. The VI then calls the Lev-Mar Best Fit function which in itself calls the Bessel Formulae VI which is a template for the Bessel Formulae that the Lev-Mar function will use in its best-fit approximation. It is within this VI that you will need to enter the neccessary formulae to produce your theoretical Bessel function. The Lev-Mar Bestfit function can then use this data to plot a Least Squares Best Fit approximation against your spectrum.
Aswell as the Bestfit and Bessel Formulae VI's, I have attached a Gaussian Example VI which gives a complete example of a Bestfit approximation using this method. Furthermore, I have attached a couple of VI's that I found which I hope may help you to develop the Bessel formulae. These include a table of Bessel roots, which you may be able to use to produce a table of the derivative roots, those found on your schematic.
I really hope this information and the files I have attached will be of use to you, I'm just sorry there isn't a direct tool with which you can produce the bestfit approximation. Keep me posted on your progress as I've been working on this for a few days now and would like to see how it goes!
With regards to the Airy disc, I would keep on with the files that you received from Kristie Elam, hopefully using the same method with both the Bessel functions and Airy disc might make things easier for you.
I hope this informtaion is of use to you, best wishes and good luck!

  • Executing the planning function while opening the web interface

    hello all,
I have created a planning area based on multiprovider. This multiprovider is based on two transactional cube ie,COPA cube and Cost Center cube.
This planning area is meant for enabling integrated planning. One plans in COPA cube and other plans in Cost Center cube the income statement gets planned based on this two.
I selected planning items in multiprovider layout to display the income statement. The layout is as follows:
    <b>PlanningItem</b>  <b>Amount</b>
Net Sales<b>:</b>    9.000,00 INR   (This comes from COPA)
Sales Overheads<b>:</b> 200,00 INR  (This comes from Cost Center)
Depreciation<b>:</b> 200,00 INR (This comes from Cost Center)
Other Expenses<b>:</b> 300,00 INR  (This comes from Cost Center)
    EBIT<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Interest Income<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Interest Expense<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Operating Income<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Taxes<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
Now EBIT planning item is to be calculated from the planning items as follows:
    EBIT = Net Sales-Sales Overheads-Depriciation-Other Expenses
For this i have created a planning function which calculates EBIT.This function works properly, there are no issues in it.
My problem is that i want this function to be executed as soon as i open the web interface for my planning application and the result should be as follows:
    <b>PlanningItem</b>  <b>Amount</b>
Net Sales<b>:</b>    9.000,00 INR   (This comes from COPA)
Sales Overheads<b>:</b> 200,00 INR  (This comes from Cost Center)
Depreciation<b>:</b> 200,00 INR (This comes from Cost Center)
Other Expenses<b>:</b> 300,00 INR  (This comes from Cost Center)
    EBIT<b>:</b> 8.300,00 INR
    Interest Income<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Interest Expense<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Operating Income<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Taxes<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
Can anybody suggest how to go about this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Yogesh

    Hi Yogesh,
as far as i know, there is no standard functionality for that purpose, but there are workaround for it.
    1. Modify the BSP Application.
Go to SE80 --> Repository Browser --> BSP Application --> your WI name --> page with flow logic --> double click on page1.htm --> Event handler tabstrip --> on the drop down selection press F1 --> add a function module that call you BPS function in specific event (e.g: OnInitialization).
    2. Use WI-Exit Class / WI-Extention (ABAP OO).
Here you need to create sub class from Class: CL_UPWB_BSP_APPL, and assign the class to your WI. You can then add a function module that call you BPS function in method:
2.1. Load --> performed only once on intial execution of WI.
2.2. Initialisation --> called once for each server response.
2.3. Dispatch --> called at each action and also for each WI component.
You can see further information in SAP how to paper:
How to Validate manual input in WEB planning application, New BPS-Features delivered with SAP BW 3.5, etc.
You can call your BPS function with BPS API FM (See F.Group: UPC_API)
But there is also more easier way to realize your ebit calculation. If you define your EBIT calc. manually in layout (define with manually defined Lead column). With this way, You will always get your EBIT analog with inputed values.
Then you add your EBIT calc.function to Layout Component in WI in property: 'Function After Data Change'.

  • What is best multifunction device for a mac 10.7?

Just spent 45 minutes at Staples only to be told "I don't know", "it should" and my favorite, "I think it does".
    What I want:
    B&W laser printer
Scan-to-pdf thru usb from printer to macbook pro on 10.7
That's it. The Samsung I have now does not scan-to-pdf.
I've heard great things about Brother, not sure which model# to look for.
    Please help!
    Thx
    Jake

I do a lot of scanning-to-pdf because I send out approvals and other paperwork with my mortgage business, and my lenders accept via email as opposed to faxing.
I'm not looking for who the leader is, I'd like to know who makes the best multi-function machine that will work properly with a mac running 10.7. I know epson is king, then canon, but I've been told brother makes a fine machine also, perhaps someone can point me to the model they've had best luck with.

  • Current best phone to purchase with Syncing in mind?

    Hey everyone,
I was looking at the Motorola RAZR and the Motorola KRZR phones as a replacement for my T-Mobile MDA, which is getting a bit bulky...
I figured before I splurged on a unlocked phone, what's currently the best slim phone (similar to the RAZR or KRZR) on the market that syncs with OSX? It's alright if I have to edit some files manually, I'm fairly proficient when it comes to root access and using vim. =)
I'd love to have a phone that syncs the address book photos, and hopefully the phone will allow for more than a single phone number per entry (which may take the RAZR out of contention!). I'm very meticulous about my Address Book and would love to have a phone that can keep up with me in that aspect...
I'm moving away from the MDA simply because I've come to the realization that I don't need a PDA today, as much as when I originally purchased the device... I'll probably keep it as a backup phone though...
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Ricky
    DC 2.0 PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks for the feedback... I did look at the isync device list, but I wanted everyone else's opinion as to the best phone.. There's a lot to read inbetween the lines on that list!
I think I'm going with a Sony W810i. I have to get it off of EBAY, but I'm sure I can sell my MDA to make up the difference...
I'll let everyone know how well it works when I get it in next week..
    =)

In particular, note the "Configurations" table at the
bottom of the page. Basically, smartphones are the
only devices that sync the Address Book photos.
However, smartphone = phone + PDA in once device, and
you stated you don't need a PDA... so you'll have to
    decide.
If you're looking for a stupidphone, and want the
best iSync functionality, you need a Sony Ericsson
    phone with Bluetooth.
Motorola phones are extremely limited in terms of
iSync. You can have multiple #'s per contact - kind
of - by changing the view options in the phone's
address book from "all" to "primary."

  • Calc time estimates, anyone?

I have a 13 dimension database that yields about 20GB of data after calculation.Block size is about 18KThe only calculation I run is a CALC DIM statement (I'd run a CALC ALL but I fix on members from some dimensions). The CALC DIM just consolidates each dimension (no member formulas and all consolidation tags are +)For my sparse dimensions, I have deep hierarchies (two, though, are flat). The database is reset and reloaded with data prior to calculation. Calculation time for one year's worth of data is 6 hours. That can't be right.Without necessarily telling me how to do it, can someone tell me what's the best calc time I should be able to achieve with some performance-tuning?

The calc time you should be looking after, shoud not exceed 1 hour. There is a way which you can bring down dramatically your calc time -however seeing the number of dims and data volume and considering your hardware, thats just about wright the time.OK, your best card in situations like this, is to use the Dynamic Calc atibute- resource, for upper level sparse members, it works miracles if you can do it wright- not affecting your reporting performance. However maybe there are dependencies in formulas (avrg) etc.The trick is to use the dyn calc in these formulas (make them dense), so they can calculate at the end.Remember the calc order in dyn calc is the oposite of regular agregations.Believe me it can make a huge difference, i use it in situations where depending the polarity of sparse dimension, cuted down the size tenfold and consequently calc times.Unfortunatelly noone is teaching thoroughly this great resource (dyn calc), so do not be scared at the beginning. You can contact me at [email protected] Yannis

  • HowTo: Business User defining Planning Functions?

    Hi all,
does anybody have experience with allowing Business users Defining Planning Functions (e.g. account A = account B - account C) and could share a rough concept? I basically think about Fox-Formulas, but this includes issues with authorization in productive system.
Are there any solutions with translating free-text-Formulas (e.g. defined in an Attribut or flatfile, see scenario below) into ABAP or FOX Code?
Thanks for sharing your ideas and experiences,
    Best regards,
    Michael
    Our scenario:
    - Business users are responsible (and authorized) for specific local Companies.
    - Values of the Chart of accounts are typed in into a input-ready query.
    - for Dummy accounts (e.g. Z01) of the local companies no planning is allowed in the plan version, but business users should be allowed to define a specific formula, such as:
    =  + *
    - these functions run at the end of the planning process in a separate planning version for translating local data into global accounts
    - At best these functions should be maintained as an attribut of the dummy accounts or as free text in a text field next to the account in the plan query, but how to translate the formula into a Fox or ABAP formula without great effort?
    - When using FOX, the issue is, that it is a different GUI and there would have to be a function for each company (there will come new companies) and so on....

    Hi Matthias,
thanks for the post. The problem isnt of keying in the formula isn't that big, this can for example be done in an attribute Char 60 with Flatfile upload for each planning process.
    My problem is more
    a) if I use FOX Formulas - the usage of fox formulas in productive system for Business User
I still think that using FOX formulas is the easiest thing to implement, but probably the hardest to run and maintain life. Are there any best practises / how tos about authorization and IP architecture for that?
    b) if I use formulas as Text - the formula parsing itself and the communication with the planning function
Here you gave me the hint of using customer defined planning functions. That's probably the best thing. I first thought about about a formula parser that is called by fox. Still, parsing free text into structured formulas isn't easy, is it? Are there any how-tows?
    best regards,
    Michael

We are currently running 6.5.1 on our NT server and have encountered inconsistencies in our aggregations when using the parallelcalc settings. We have two processors and are trying to use both of them in the calc. Has anyone run into a similar problem? Any ideas would be appreciated.
