Best color matching settings for canon pro9500

I tried different settings for printing 13x19 photos. Printer color management, photoshop color management with different color options. Always a difference with preview... Help please. I have no problem when printing with my old ip6700d!

1. Calibrate (I use ColorVision's Spyder http://aps8.com/spyder.html , but any hardware calibration device will be better than calibration by eye).
2. Set the Working Space to sRGB.
3. Set the Color Management Policy for RGB to Convert to Working to be sure you are converting content to sRGB. (2 & 3 addressses pfigen's concern about making sure all images are sRGB.)
4. Make sure your monitor is set to use the ICC profile generated by the calibration device.
5. Turn off Proof Colors.
6. Embed profiles or not, but if you do use the sRGB profile. Whether it gets used or not is another story.
As far as B&W, pfigen suggests Gamma 2.2, which would seem to be right for PC. Mac users might consider Gamma 1.8.
This should work well for most situations, but guaranteed consistency is an impossible task at this point.

  • Best Color Management Settings for Web in CS3

I've seen tons of info on what color management settings can be used in CS3, but most seemed to favor work for printing. I'm just wondering what settings people think are best for color and B&W photo web work in particular... I already have both the monitor and PS set for 'sRGB IEC61966-2.1', but other than that, there seems to be a lot of opinions. I just want everything to have the best chance of looking the same on other comps as it did on mine. I also have Proof Setup set to 'Monitor RGB'.
    Thanks,

  • What are the best Color "Display Settings" for both my Macbook Pro Retina and Thunderbolt Display??

I have recently purchased a Thunderbolt Display for my MBPr (early 2013) and was wondering what were the best settings for both to obtain an equal color and graphic appearance. I want to have them identical for working on graphics and illustrations.
    Thanks

I have the same laptop. There's nothing you really need to do to optimise the system. Perhaps just install the cuda drivers.
It runs premiere like a dream.

  • Color management settings for the best print output

Color Management while Printing has been one of the challenging areas which has been discussed a lot over user forums and has been a painful area in terms of clear understanding while taking print outputs.
Here is an easy-to-understand KB (Knowledge Base) article ‘Color management settings for the best print output’ to help you get the best from your printers using PSE and bridge that knowledge gap.
This article explains color management in Photoshop Elements, how to get better prints, and addresses some of the following issues like horizontal/vertical streaks in print output, too dark or too light print output, ICC profile problems and Color differences between prints from PSE and other applications.
    Thanks,
    Garry

    Thanks Noel.
Yes have shared in PSE forum as well. But I usually drop such posts on PS General forum so community moderators as well as our power users who mostly use both PS or PSE or are aware about can communicate to their students, audiences etc.
The idea is to reach out the message to as many as folks via relevant forums. Most of my otehr posts have found mentioned only on PSE forum.
Thanks for the feedback Nice to hear such a great feedback within 5 mts of publishing

  • What is the best iTunes Equalizer settings for Bose QC15 Headphones?

What is the best iTunes Equalizer settings for the Bose QC15 Headphones? An image of those settings would be great.

I'm a bit of an audio geek, so I can tell you that YES whatever sounds right is what you want, but NO those settings are not very good. The general setting is "OK" but the values are extremely out of range. Take that setting and reduce the distance between the sliders and you're getting there. Look for example at how the other iTunes presets are made, the don't go that far from the horizontal middle, and for good reason.
When you play a recorded song, the song has usually been put through an extensive process of mixing, EQ and mastering before you got it, in order to get the best balance of all frequencies, to ensure the best sound accross a wide range of speakers and headphones, and to ensure the most important details and instruments are audible when played together.
All speakers are different, and that's where the idea of an EQ for the listener is introduced. The idea is to tweak the overall sound from your music player (iTunes) to compensate for the strengths and weaknesses of your speakers. Which to be honest, is a bit much to expect form a typical music consumer.
The iTunes EQ has a set of horizontal lines representing 3dB (volume steps) each. In my experience you should not boost or cut more than 6 db at the most - and that's a lot! I stay at around 0-4dB. The extreme options are there to cut noise from bad recordings or emphasize a detail you can't hear very well.
    So here's basic EQ lesson:
The EQ represents the range frequencies in sound that the human ear can hear. Actually they go beyond that - most people cannot hear the far left and right frequencies. The range of frequencis start at "deep" or "low" frequencies at the left (bass) passing through the Midrange (midtones) in the center, to the (treble) at the right.
Your speaker has a limit to how many frequencies it can play at once before it starts to lose detail - meaning one sound will drown out in order to make room for another. So don't over-EQ your sound or it'll ruin it.
    How to tweak an EQ:
    1) Start by playing a well-produced piece of modern music  - it'll most likely be well mixed and employ a wide range of frequencies. I'm into heavy metal but for this I'd probably go with some average pop music, because metal is so noisy it gets hard to pick out the details.
    2) Set you EQ to FLAT - zero all accross the board. It'll sound pretty flat and boring unless your speakers are very "flavoured" or "colored" already.
Sliding any of the EQ bar up, will increase or boost the volume of the frequency the bar represents. You can't really add frequencies that aren't there already - you're just adding noise in that freqeuncy and that will "fill up" the available frequencies on your speaker, causing that "drowned out" effect I was talking about.
Instead, slide them down from the center, and you're cutting the volume instead. This is better because it'll leave more "room" for the other frequencies. You can always use the Preamp slider at the end if you're worried about loudness (but I wouldn't).
    3) Start by tweaking the 500 and 1K slider. This represents the middle of your ears' range of hearing and the most noticable change. It should most likely go downwards - this will take the "canned" sound out of your music and that'll be apparent quickly. Go ahead and slide that down as far as -6dB.
    4) Now work outwards from the center forming a "v" shape, where the top tips of the V end at the 64 slider and the 8k slider. The very far left and right sliders (32 and 16K) should dip down again to about 0bB. Trust me, these are almost non-important in most music. You can tweak thos last if you feel it's needed.
    5) now it's time to start playing round with the V shape. Go ahead and try sliding the sliders a little up or down between 125-250 and 1K to 4K. You may find that some need to move a lot out of the average "V" shape before the sound is good. This is what my iTunes EQ settings ended up looking like for my Motörheadphones "Motorizer" headphones:
    Hope it helps.

  • What are best Mpeg encoder settings for making DVDs?

In switching from PP1.5 to CS3 the procedure is different for making DVDs and we have to encode mpeg files that later get picked up by Encore DVD build proces. What are the best mpeg encode settings for making the DVDs?
    Thanks,
    Chuck Taylor

    Question:
If you are doing a video that is small enough that you are not worried about size, what is the absolute best quality encoder settings? Would a Continous Bitrate result in a higher quality file generally? VBR is for trying to make a smaller file I assume.
I'm frustrated with even white letters on black titles that have some flicker. I just don't seem to get the smooth quality I desire.
Should I look at a different encoder?
If you output PP3 to an AVI and then import it into encore, isn't there a reduction of Q. due to the save to the AVI file?
    thanks.

  • Best in-Aperture settings for iPad

    Hi,
Does anyone know what is the best in-Aperture settings for optimum iPad photo quality ? (Maybe able to do a 2x zoom without pixelating)
Currently my previews are set to *"Fit within 2560x2560"* and Quality is set to *"10 High"*
However, in this settings, i realized that iTunes automatically "OPTIMIZES" the pictures.
Therefore, has anyone found the perfect settings ?
    Regards
    Nycky

Doesn't matter, iTunes will still Optimise them. The process doesn't just resize them it also converts them to the format used on the iPad.

  • What are the best imovie, mpeg4 settings for making dvds?

What are the best imovie, mpeg4 settings for making dvds?

    • iMovie'08 to 11
    - Share to Media Browser - AND as Large (or Medium) - HD or other resolutions degrades the final result
iMovie'08 to 11 are not the tools of choise if quality is important as they all degrade the picture by discarding every second line when going from, Event's to Project's and this can not be mended.
iMovie HD6 and FinalCut delivers 100% of what any DVD-Authoring program needs.
    • DVD is as standard MAX - intrelaced SD-Video - and can not be any better than this
    • iDVD does only care about TIME / Duration as
iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1) and iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (but not always for short movies e.g. up to 45 minutes in total)
    • Best Performances
(movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD (Can be best for short movies)
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6)
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
Menu can take 15 minutes or even more - I use a very simple one with no audio or animation like ”Brushed Metal” in old Themes.
    About double on DL DVDs.
    • iDVD Does Region = Zero (to be played everywhere)
    • Frame rate - DVD can be in two types PAL (25fps) and NTSC (29.97fps)
If Your material is 30fps then keep to NTSC (29.97fps), if 25fps keep to PAL.
One can feed iDVD the other frame rate - BUT RESULTING DVD WILL BE BAD
I use JES_Deinterlacer (free on Internet) to convert all material to the same and final frame rate
    • NTSC - US etc
    • PAL - EU etc

  • Best RAW Image Processing for Canon Digital Rebel XT - PS Elements 6??

I'm new to RAW image processing and image editing. I just bought a Canon digital Rebel XT. It comes with Canon Digital Professional 2.1 software. I also have Aperture upgraded to 1.5.6, which I have tried on JPEGs from an earlier digital camera that only gave me JPEG files. Since Aperture doesn't give me as much editing diversity, I purchased the newly released Photoshop Elements 6 (and I don't have any experience with Photoshop). Thus, I now have 3 different RAW image processors. Does anyone have some experience with these 3 to suggest which one is best? The learning curve looks pretty steep, and it would be helpful to know which of these to focus on, at least initially.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Now that you have the Canon DPP installed i would update it to version 3.2 which is at Canons site.
Now, DPP has the best conversion quality for Canon RAW files. I used it a lot and although limited in what adjustments you have, it offers the essential adjustments and I liked it a lot.
Aperture also does a great job with Canon RAW files, but version 2.1 is even better
Photoshop Elements 6 I have not used but I do use Photoshop CS3
Personally for RAW I prefer Canon DPP over Adobe Camera Raw
And I prefer Aperture over Adobe Camera RAW too.
Now that Aperture has improved it's RAW conversion immensely and it offers tethered shooting with the XT, I am using Aperture exclusively to process RAW files.
An application like Elements or Photoshop CS3 are great if you want to do more advanced layered work and layer blending effects, however, for sepia , black/white, general image color & saturation or desaturated effects and good RAW conversion? I am all about using Aperture.
Now although I use it on a MBP, I will only do edit and color judging when attached to a cinema display or any good LCD with a DVI connection to the laptop.
But in conclusion, for RAW adjustments may as well focus on Aperture and use Elements for the few edits that Aperture does not allow.

  • Best export format settings for mac

    Hi,
I have a mac OS Lion 10.7.2 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. I'm new to premiere pro and video editions and have just finished my family's vacation video clip edition, that contains photos and videos.
I have tried several export format settings, but the only satisfying one was MPEG2-DVD with preset "Match Source Attributes (Highest Quality)". The problem was that it seems to be specific for DVD, that's why it was generated two separated files, a m2v for video and a wav for audio.
I would like to play it on my mac and I couldn't do it with the players I have installed: QuicK Time didn't run it and VLC ran without audio.
    I have 4 questions:
Is there a player that can play both video and audio? Or is it just for DVD purpose?
If not, what would be the best export format settings to have a HD 720p video with best quality? All the other settings produced very low quality videos, even in very huge size! I have tried flv, mpeg, mov...
Do I need any specific codec for it?
I have already installed perian codec. Wouldn't it be possible to export for AVI format? Why doesn't it show on my format options?
I have searched many forums and didn't find the solution yet!
    Does anybody have any suggestion?
    Thanks a lot, Guilherme

    Hello guys,
I've created another sequence to build my video. Now I am using a AVCHD 1080p30. My video contains photos and videos. The videos are 720p, but my pictures have very high resolution, 3968x2232. I won't edit them because there are lot of pictures. So, my question is: What would be the best format for this sequence? mp4? mpg? mpeg? mov? I thought that they are very similar! Are there big quality differences between them? Size is not a problem, but if the formats don't make big differences on the final product, the smaller one could be sufficient?
    Any tips?

  • Where are the Color Matching buttons for Speed Grade CS6?

I just purchased CS6 and all of the online videos talk about the new color matching feature.  But I don't see it anywhere.  How do I enable this feature?

Thanks for the reply.  It took 50 minutes on hold and 20 minutes with the Indian tech support before they finally gave me the same answer.  It's pretty $hitty of Adobe because on the website, they list these features under CS6.  All the videos talking about the new features of CS6 show it and never once do they mention this feature is only available with CC.

  • Best Airport Basestation settings for iPhone speed

Hi all, I thought I'd start a thread to capture the best settings for the Airport Basestations to get max speed for iPhone when using Wifi.
I've found there is a big difference in network speed between a Mac and the iPhone even when on the same WiFi network. Try any of these tests on your iPhone and your Mac:
    http://i.dslr.net/tinyspeedtest.html
    http://iphonespeedtest.com/
    http://testmyiphone.com/
    Background from this article:
    http://www.iphonefreak.com/2008/07/dsl-reports-offers-iphone-friendly-speed-test .html
Here's my experience to date (all subjective, no measurements yet).
    - WPA2 and any form of network encryption slows down the transfer speed to the iPhone
    - I'm currently using no encryption but MAC address filtering on the Airport BS
    - Basestation in bridge mode
    Please post your results

    Answered my own question:
The answer is set your Wifi to B only and all the speed problems with the iPhone 3G will be fixed! There seems to be a problem with the 802.11G on the iPhone in my experience.

  • Best HD export settings for YouTube

I am looking for some info on what export settings to use for YouTube with HD video. I want to export everything in 1080 (not 720) so I can also upload to Vimeo. Can someone please explain (or link) to me how I should export.
This is my first time using HD video, I shoot in 24fps onto HDV tapes.
I am not sure what else I need to know (or do) to export in the best quality.
    THank you in advance!

Any other input for this topic?
I have been searching around for the past week for a solid export setting.
I've tried the above settings but I have yet to see the final product because it takes FOREVER to export (the estimated time just keeps going up and up, never down).
I found a setting a few weeks ago and used it but I cannot find it again. It did not take too long to export and the final product looked amazing both in Quicktime and on YouTube/Vimeo.
Anyone that would like to share their settings for an upload to YouTube/Vimeo, please do, I am in need.
    Thanks!
