Best date format

Hi all, this message is related to a previous one that I 've posted.
I wonder what is the best date format to use when converting from VARCHAR2 to DATE.
The VARCHAR can be for example
1, (01/01/01), or
2. (01/01/2001)
The currently format used (I want to point that is used for commercial purposes) is 'DD/MM/YYYY HH:MI:SS'.
With the aforementioned format after testing I came to the following results;
For the first case produces error date (01/01/0001) whilst with the second works fine.
If I use a format like 'DD/MM/YY' then date is succesfully converted, but could this produce any other unexpected results?
Please make your suggestions.

The correct format for the decode is 'MM/DD/RRRR', see the following examples where I convert a string to a date and then reconvert it to character for display.
1* select to_char(to_date('01/20/05','mm/dd/rrrr'),'mm/dd/yyyy') from dual
SQL> /
TO_CHAR(TO
01/20/2005
SQL> edit
Wrote file afiedt.buf

hi, i'm using final cut pro and no matter what format i export my video in, be it quicktime, mpeg2 or avi, there's still a slight degradation of picture quality when i import it into encore. mpeg2 by far suffers the least. but is there a best video format i can export from final cut to adobe so dat there's minimal loss in quality?

Sure, export it as an uncompressed AVI or QT file.

OLE Automation , date formatting

Hi everybody,
i have a problem with OLE automation for "date" formatting.
The cell value is correct ( DD/MM/YYYY) , but in some cases the cell option is "Date" ( this is the correct option ) and in other cases the cell option is "General". This last option is wrong because the value is left-justified, meanwhile the "Date" option is right-justified.
I wish to have the "Date" cell option always. (right-justified)
Is it possible to set this option with statement "SET PROPERTY OF..." ?

SET PROPERTY OF H_CELL 'Value' = '01/01/2012'.

SSAS Cube parameter date format change

Hi Experts,
I am new to SSRS report creation. I have a parameter which is fetching date from cube. The date format from cube is YYYY-MM-DD.
I want expression to change the date format to DD/MM/YYYY.
I have used this expression - =Format(CDATE(Parameters!DimPromoUBUBStartDate.Value),"dd/MM/yyyy")
but it is not working and getting the following error,
"unable to cast object of type 'System.object[]' to type 'system Iconvertible'

According to your description, when you convert the "YYYY-MM-DD" formatted data from the parameter and change the format, it throw the error above. Right?
In this scenario, the reason why you get this error because you set allow multiple values in that parameter. When we allow multiple values in a parameter, all select values will be put into a array when processing even you only select one value. And
the CDate() function can't convert the object[]. So please unselect the allow multiple values in parameter. If you want to keep multiple values selection, you can only convert one element from the array. For example: CDate(Parameter!XXXX.Value(0))

Date format in OBIEE 10g Calender Control

Once date selected in Calender, it is taking Date-Time format automatically.
i.e when we select 20/01/2013 in calender and select GO button, then it takes '20/01/2013 00:00:00'. How can we change from Date-Time format to Date format only.

Error while parsing date format

Hi Friends
I am using db2 as backend for my project and currently facing an issue with the parsing of the date.
The date being returned from the db is in the format - yyyy-MM-dd-HH.mm.ss.SSS000 and the return type is String.
when i try to parse and convert it into a date object. i get the following error
java.text.ParseException: Unparseable date: "2011-05-30-20.23.25.319000"
the code to format is as below
String dateTime = "2011-05-30-20.23.25.319000";
java.text.SimpleDateFormat format = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd-HH.mm.ss.SSS000");
Date date =format.parse(dateTime);
please provide your comments as to what i am doing wrong here.and if possible let me know the solution.

Email Submit and Data format

I have been reviewing the following document and have 1 question.

Is there a way to customize the data format using a submit button?
I may have the requirement to have end users submit data through an email submit button, but the client wants the data in the format Fieldname [delimiter of some sort] Fieldvalue, is this possible? Would you need to manually edit the xml in the form to do this? Any pointers would be appreciated.
The only options I see in the attributes of the email submit button are:
XDP
XML
PDF
URL encoded data

Currently we are using Acroforms and would use these forms originally.
In the future, this would be used with LiveCycle so it would probably be an XFA/LiveCycle Designer form. I believe in this case, the best solution would be to do this through a submit using Form Server components of LCES.

We are a SAP implementation team. We are @ Blue Print stage. My client is a RETAIL Business Gaint. Client has 50 % of Transaction data and Master data in Oracle data base. Now we are moving to BI 7.0 and also has plans to use SAP-BCS.
We would like to map all the existing Oracle tables to BI. Provide any clue regarding the best Data flow (From Oracle 10G to BI 7.0).

You have mentioned that you have a Oracle 10g system as a data inflow which perfectly sets the platform to extract the data from the Oracle system to SAP BW system.
This Can be done through the DB connect ,through where you could select the necessary tables and form them as a datasource in BI system,further creating the usual BI objects on top of the DS.
Once the Data is in BI ,we could pull the BI cube or form a replica of the cube in BCS application format to use it in the BCS environment.

Invalid date format for 'Created' field in the getVersions web service Response.

Hi all,
I am trying to get all versions for selected document by calling getVersions method Versions.asmxweb service, but getting ‘Created’ date attribute value is in the format "29-05-2012 12:01"
but I am expecting either one of the following date formats.
1.      yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss or yyyy-MM-ddTHH:mm:ssz
2.      MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm a   (a means AM/PM)
3.      MM/dd/yyyy
4.      yyyyMMdd HH:mm:ss
where do I need to change?
what are all the formate will be support by SharePoint?

Per my knowledge, you can get the date format for ‘Created’ field as “MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm a”.

Saving rights and date format in Forms - Acrobat Professional 8

Hi Forum,
I have designed a form for a client in Acrobat 8 Professional, and enabled viewing rights in Reader. There will be a lot of people using this form that are not in any way computer literate, and the client has requested that I do the following:
1. I have set up the date format (in a date-of-birth field) to dd/mm/yy, limited to 8 characters, and a Tool-tip explaining how the date must be written. However, if you enter the date by mistake as 01/01/2001, it will be allowed, and appear as 01/01/20 (instead of coming up with an error message saying the 20 is wrong and it should be 01). I understand that to the form, there's nothing wrong with this date, but is there any way I can get a pop-up box to appear if either '19' or '20' appears as the year, and indicate to the form-filler that they should check what they've entered?
2. They want the user, when the document is opened in Reader, to NOT be allowed the 'Save' feature, but only allow them to 'Save AS', so as not to overwrite the master document, which will be stored in a folder. The information in these forms are of a sensitive nature, so they don't want it getting saved by accident into the master document for anyone to see.
I would be delighted if you were able to give me any ideas on the above.

For #1, you can, but it would involve some custom JavaScript programming to replace what Acrobat uses as the Keystroke/Format scripts.
For #2, you cannot set up the document or Acrobat (Reader) to prevent a Save but allow a Save As. The best way to do what you want is to set up the appropriate file permissions using the OS's file system to prevent users from changing the file. A quick & dirty way is to simply set the file to read-only, but this is often easy for a user to undo.

Hi Peter,
As far as i remember, I had the same issue.
Once I matched the date format in reporting client using SU01 on default tab with CRM date format, I did't see the error again.
Did you try restarting the Browser & also relogin GUI.
Else lets see what else can be done.

Date format convert error in XML interface based Adobe interactive forms

Hi experts,
I am using XML interface based Adobe interactive form in Web Dynpro ABAP. The form just contains some date fields and numeric fields.
When I test the WD Application, the date fields appear like 0000-00-00 at the first time. And then I set the form input disable, and get the XML from the form, at the same time I get the warning message, 'date format convert error'. By the way, I have set the edit pattern, display pattern and data pattern of the date field to YYYYMMDD, but there seems no effect.
Could you tell me how to set the default date format in date field Or clear the 0000-00-00?
And another question, all of the numeric fields in the form appear like 0.0, how can I set it to empty when the form initialize?

Thank you for your reply.
I have tried every possible changes on the Date field, locale, pattern. But still no effect. When the PDF come up in the WDA program, the date field is still '0000-00-00', and then I export the XML date of the form, there is also '0000-00-00' in the interface field.
I can't clear the '0000-00-00' in initializiation event using javascript because if I need to open the form again, if I do this, the value user input could be cleared.
I also try using Javascrip like this
if this.rawValue == "0000-00-00"
{ this.rawValue = ""; }
The code above can't clear the initializiation zeros too.
Have you used the XML interface based online Adobe Forms? I have used XML PDF forms for output before, that's perfect. But the input forms seems so strange.
