Best of way of storing texts for JEditorPane.

I'm developing a small GUI. It has a combobox and a JEditorPane. I want the editorPane poupulated with text (html if possible) according to the selection of the combobox.
My question is now: Whats the best way of storing those texts???
It should be static text, (explanation of the selection) so it can be hardcoded. Should I just create another class that only contains the texts?
So this is not a 'how can I...'-question, but more a 'what's the way to..'-question!
Let's hear some opinions! ;-)

Thanks Mike, I am still exploring on this issue. I shall try that cache funda.

If you would like to put a DB in between LD an MS-Excel, simply configure
Caching
for the DataView that retrieves the spreadsheet. LD will automatically
catch
the DataView in your cache database (SQL Server or Oracle). The only
drawback
is that your data will only be as recent as the last cache refresh.
Before I made the MS-Excel demo, I did look at other Java-COM bridge
products.
JCOM was by far the easiest to use. The way the custom function is written,
it
retrieves the whole worksheet. If you want to write another custom function
that
takes row and column parameters, I'm sure it would be much quicker.

Hello,
I am working on a solution to use Excel Files (yes, multiple) as Data

of one

out out
in XML. As I understand the input (XQry) and output (XML) is what fits
properly
in Liquid Data, the problem is with the efficiently using/accessingmultiple
Excel
files as Data Source with Liquid Data.
I have been thinking following versions:
1. Let it be some intermediate DB (say SQL Server, or...) communicate
with Liquid
Data and let SQL Server communicate with MS Excel. So aviding direct
communication
between Liquid Data and Excel (but how it to be?).
2. Let Liquid Data communicate with Excel directly but use some efficient

of it (but what?)
Can anyone please help me with this issue? As this decisions is going

  • Best way of storing content for home network?

I have a 3rd gen Apple TV and a family with numerous iPada, iPhones and Macs. We also have a finite limit on our internet data consumption. I'm looking for the best way of managing my kids' movie downloads so that they don't keep downloading the same movies to different devices, consuming our data allowance in the process.
Ideally I'm looking for a way of connecting a hard disk to the wireless network so that we can download direct to that, using one of our macs or iPads, and then have the Apple TV stream from there. But that seems harder than it should be, if not impossible. At the moment we all have our individual libraries on our devices but often both kids want the same movies so that means the same movies getting downloaded twice.
Using family sharing we can share each other's purchases but each family member has to end up with their own copy of the movie in their library on at least one of their devices if they want to watch it, which means downloading multiple times.
Is there a way of achieving a home network with a core storage device shared amongst the family members which can be used both for streaming to iPads and appletv?
    Thanks
    James

Thank you Rudegar that is helpful. I hadn't realised that you could get an iOS app to control a NAS, so that could fix it for me.
Can multiple users with different libraries store their movies on the same NAS? And would any user then be able to play a movie stored on the NAS by using AirPlay to stream it to the AppleTV?
    What NAS would you recommend?
    Many thanks, James

  • Best Reliable way to make slideshow for PC presentation

I am working with a company that is making a presentation slideshow with music to play at the beginning of an event.
Right now there is a lady doing it on a pc with PowerPoint.
Is there a nicer way in my mac to do it?
It has to play full screen, via a pc, thru a projector.
    thanks Laura

    Laura:
If you don't need the Ken Burns effect it's my opinion that you'll get the best quality slideshow by creating it in iDVD. Open iDVD and create a new project. Select your theme and click on the "+" button at the bottom to create a slideshow section. Open it, double click on the slideshow button text, and go to the Media/iPhoto pane. There you can select an album or individual photos and drag into the slideshow organization pane. Select your slide transition and music playlist from iTunes (again the Media pane). If you want iDVD will let you add titles and/or subtitles to selected slides. Again that's just my preferences.
Numerous iPhoto users have reported that the syncing of the slideshow to the music selected does not work as intended. It seems to be a bug in iPhoto. (With the new Quicktime update that may have changed, I don't know).
    Good luck.

  • I need to know the best, safest way to convert video for Mac.  I just had home movies converted to a DVD format a realize now that I need another step to burn them to my computer.

I just had home movies converted to a DVD format a realize now that I need another step to burn them to my computer.  This is for a Christmas present!  Help.

I don't think you need to use a ripper program to read a home movie DVD. Those are primarily for copy-protected commercial DVDs, right?
I think you just need to transcode the DVD files using a utility like Handbrake, which is free and fast.

  • Best way to handle text files in OD10g

We have a requirement to store reports in text format into a database field, to be able to view the reports, and to print them if desired using Forms 10g. What is the best way to handle this?
    - define the field in the database as clob or blob?
    - if CLOB is the choice, what tools to use to upload CLOBs to the database (since webutil transfer is for blob only)?
    - in Forms 10g, can one use the Forms data type LONG for CLOB?
    - can you do Forms search on clob and blob fields?
    - how can reports that are stored in fields be viewed without first downloading to the client workstation?
    - in Forms 10g, what is the best way to view text files residing in local PCs: "host notepad myFile"?
    Thanks much for your reply!

Take a deep breath. Relax. All is fine.
iDVD does not look at the size of your video file, it looks at the length. iDVD can accomodate up to 2 hours of movie
iDVD gives you different options depending on the length of your movie. Although I won't agree with your friend about reducing the length of your movie to 15 minutes, if you could trim out a few minutes to get it under an hour that setting in iDVD (Best Performance though the new version may have renamed it) gives you the best quality. Still, any iDVD setting will give you good quality even at 64 minutes
In FCE export as Quicktime Movie NOT any flavour of Quicktime Conversion. Select chapter markers if you have them. If everything is on one system unchecked the Make Movie Self Contained button. Drop the QT file into iDVD

  • What is the best way to add text to an image

I used the draw ap div to add text to an image.  will that cause any problems?  If so, what is the best way to add text to an image?  Thanks!

APDivs will kill your design unless you fully understand the css behind the scenes and plan accordingly. They really are completely unnecessary in the vast majority of situations.
An easy way to add "web text over an image" would be to use the background-image attribute in css for a standard <div> tag, then just add the text within that same <div>.
Something like this in the css (if you are using a 300x300 pixel image)...
    #yourdiv {
         background-image:url(yourpic.jpg);
         width:300px;
         height:300px;
And then this in the html...
    <div id="yourdiv">Your text here</div>
You would then position the <div> using css margins, floats and padding. Using position:absolute (APDivs) is typically something that will blow your design to pieces if the viewer changes their browser settings.

  • Best way to edit text in Motion 5?

I am using Motion 5 and a Template (from Motion VFX), and had trouble editing the text in this one text field. I couldn't just click in the Canvas and edit the text; it would just create another text box.
I am trying to get out of the habit of just clicking on the canvas, and I want new ways to edit text.
I searched and I found one way. I would use the "Find and Replace" tool (Command and F), and then search for the text string, and have it edit it. Is this the best way in everyone's opinion? Are there other ways I can edit text fields? Any tips?
    Thanks,
    Craig G from DC

Select the Text "layer" in the layers column; select the Text tab in the inspector; select the Format button at the top and change the Text in the Text field at the bottom.
BTW, that text field is publishable for FCPX from the disclosure triangle that appears when you mouse over that space with the "Text" header.

  • Best Way to Edit Text in InDesign Originated Document without InDesign?

We are contracting out to have some of our sales literature translated into various languages by non-creative professionals (college students, stay at home moms, etc.), so they do not have any professional software.  We originated these documents in InDesign CS4.
What is the best practice/way/workflow/software to allow these individuals to efficiently translate our material?  If possible, it would be nice to allow them to edit the document to replace English text with Mandarin, for example, as no one in the office speaks a bit of Mandarin.  Is this the kind of thing for which InCopy is used?  Are there other options with less expensive price tags?
Thanks in advance for any insights.

Exactly, how is this question related to a pdf workflow?
Yes InCopy could be used to do this. This topic is best discussed in either an ID forum or InCopy forum:

  • Best way to view Text files from Mac on iPhone 4?

What is the Best way to view Text files (loaded) from my Mac onto my iPhone 4?
Will any of the "readers" (e.g. Kindle, Kobo) allow me to put my own text files onto my iPhone and read them easily?
    Thanks

I actually purchased GoodReader because it is easy to transfer files without iTunes.  I dislike the file sharing through iTunes.   You can use a Mac or PC.  Once I was in the app I clicked the "Wi-Fi" symbol which brings me to "WiFi-transfer."  It will show this --
    "WiFi status: ON
Use one of the following addresses exactly as you see them
    1. IP-address: http://192.168.0.98:8080 <-- Local LAN address the iPhone is broadcasting on.
    2. Bonjour-address http://Myname-iPhone.local:8080"
All you have to do is type one of those addresses into your browser. (Safari, etc.)
It will take you to a page that has iPhone Connection and a list of options.  You can either create a new directory within the application or use an existing one to upload a text file.  It's rather simple, you just select "Choose a file to upload" > Select your file > Press upload > Start the app and see your text/pdf/whatever file.
You can also connect to a server to download a text file, browse the web, or enter a url.  I see it also has an ICloud folder which I'm not sure if it integrates with Apple's iCloud or not, I think it does.  I'm not affliated with the app and I'm not saying you have to buy it, I'm just a happy user.
If you don't want to buy this app let me know I'll keep looking for a free or cheaper one for you if you want.

  • What is the best way to manipulate text?

What is the best way to manipulate text in Photoshop?  Let's say I need to edit an "A" and I want to stretch out the bottom corners of the letter, while not moving the upper portion (wide bottom, skiny top)... what is the best way to do this?  I know the "skew" function somewhat moves corners, but I want to take the binding boxes (while in the skew function) and move them individually so it doesn't affect another corner. Is this possible (or am I just crazy?!?!)?

Not sure I get all the nuances of what you want, but have you tried invoking Free Transform, (CTRL+T) then holding down CTRL while clicking/dragging a corner handle?

  • What is the best way to format Videos for ipod touch?

What is the best way to format Videos for ipod touch? Used Quicktime Pro/ Export (iPhone setting). Videos aren't as crisp as downloaded Videos. Compressors /ipod video Setting also looks crapy (with bitrate med & High). What should I use?

Visualhub is a transcoder with multiple input and output formats with specific setting for iPod,iPod touch. Costs around $19-used to work great but recently everything I convert suffers audio crash than closes out the player. Hopefully they will fix it.
Elgato H.264 hardware transcoder is $99 dollars(USB stick that plugs in to Mac)-speeds up encoding of any file quicktime can handle, settings for apple tv, iphone/touch, ipod,Sony PSP. Worth the cost if you transcode a lot of video for the Touch or own an elgato HD tuner. Files work flawlessly and look great.
Mpeg streamclip-free. Works great, has presets or can customize the output.

George - Thanks you so much!  Actually, i'd love for the text color to be red font color.  Could you send me the script for that? And I assume I just copy and paste the script into the field properties (see screenshot)?

What are the best ways to create space for the download of Yosemite.  I can't install it as I don't have enough space.

Did you empty Trash?  Very important!
How much space do you have available?  Click in the HDD icon on the desktop, COMMAND+I.
    Also try a Safe Boot:

  • Best way to prepare photos for iPhoto printed book

    Hello,
I was wondering what would be the best way to prepare photos for iPhoto printed book on a Macbook Pro so to achieve the most realistic results to what's on the screen
ie. which software should I use to change photos from RGB to CMYK, photoshop or iPhoto itself. I'm guessing maybe the autofix feature in iPhoto? (I don't have Aperture)
Secondly, which monitor color setting should I set the screen at? I'm guessing it's either Apple RGB or Colour LCD, maybe even ColorMatch RGB?
Any any other tips that people can give in achieving the most realistic results to what you have on the screen when your printed iPhoto book gets sent back. I don't want the mid tones to disappear or become too bright because the gamma and color settings were different to what they use at the other end.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
The situation has changed a little, our original photos are in RAW format and some of them are slightly over saturated in the higher tones.
I've read on other threads that it is a good idea to run the 'Enhance' tool on all photos before sending the iPhoto Book away.
Since iPhoto's 'Enhance' tools seems to do a lot of helpful things like sharpen, adjust the levels, etc it also seems to notch the contrast up and this would prove destructive for the lighter and darker tones not captured by the camera's dynamic range.
So as I've been advised it's best to use Apple's own tools before sending the iPhoto Book away, so I'm going to download the trial of Aperture.
Does anyone have any more recommendations on which monitor colour profile setting to use etc. I've also read that iPhoto prints best from JPEGS so the RAW will obviously need changed. Will Aperture automatically save to Profile name: Camera RGB Profile after I've done some editing there?
What would be the best way to prepare RAW images in aperture where some of them might need an Image Overlay in Photomatix then imported back to Aperture for printing an Apple/iPhoto style Book?
    Many thanks

  • Best way of creating request for a query

    hi,
what will be the best process to create the request for the query.
1.go to rsa1-> transport connection -> select query -> select  BEx bus-> create the request, then change the query and save
                                                                                    OR
    2. change the query first and assign the request in the transport connection
    Please help me put.

    Hi,
You would get problems when you transport it by the second method, like the Variable might get missed out when you edit the query and save it to the request.
First method through Transport connection is the best way to do it, to make sure all the objects are collected.
