Best settings for creating a web mov. from a motion project

Hi,
I have been trying to get a crisp image online, that doesn't take a age to load. I know it's possible as I have seen sites that seem to have their settings spot on.
I am using H264 codec, which greatly reduces the file size (although it's still about 4.5mb) and the once crisp looking motion project, now looks dull.
Can anyone help? I am very new to motion (and FCP). What codec should I set my sequence to before I import the motion project to FCP and then what settings should I use for compressor?
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

You could also try Squeeze.
I've read that for highly compressed H.264 (doesn't matter for files that aren't), Squeeze has better quality. (would certainly like to hear other's experience - Squeeze seems a lot slower to compress from the review)
Here's one review ( there's a more detailed review around somewhere )

  • Best Acrobat distiller settings for creating a Web-Friendly pdf file-

    Hi
Got a big project coming up where my crew will be trying to export our indesign layouts for print pieces to pdf files for uploading, viewing and printing from our company internet site. Our documents will be a mix of text and jpg and vector images, as they originally designed for printing. We'll be reformatting them to print on letter size, etc., then saving them for our web dev area.
Is the standard job option set, "Smallest File Size", the best way to go?
Or are there specific settings that I can customize in Acrobats (resolution, downsample to, monchormatic, etc) in the blanks and create a set of job options to distribute?

    Hello,
We're pleased that you are using Acrobat software. The Smallest File Size preset is great for web and email. However, image resolution is low, which would affect printing quality. The Rich Content PDF preset might be a better choice. Did you look on this Help page for information?

  • Best settings for exporting crisp video/graphic from iMovie to YouTube?

Hi, I am working on a video for a client and after viewing on YouTube they had some issues with the type not looking "crisp," and I'm not sure how to fix it, not sure if it's a YouTube thing or something I am doing wrong.
I am working in iMovie 6/HD on OS 10.4.11. I do my "type slides" in Photoshop and import them into the iMovie as photos (JPGs). I know some text/titles can be done in iMovie but there is very little control I have over what goes where, so by making my type slides in Photoshop I have more creative control to do what I want. I have done tests and it doesn't seem to matter what resolution the Photoshop files are when they're imported, the results are always the same.
If anyone has a better suggestion for doing the type slides I'd gladly welcome them, but I think what I really need to know is the following:
What are the best expert settings to export my iMovie file as, so that when I upload to YouTube, the quality stays fairly crisp? Or does YouTube's compression just negate anything I can do on my end?
I have googled and found settings recs on other sites and other boards and tried a bunch of them and my results aren't any better than my original effort.
From another post on this board I discovered I could play with the Filters setting when exporting, and I have set that to Sharpen and also used the Brightness filter to lighten the video (it was a little dark). I uploaded to YouTube and I think it is a little better, but would still love the info if anyone has a guaranteed rec for correct settings for YouTube video from iMovie HD/6.

    Hello Brian,
Have you tried de-interlacing before exporting?
Sometimes, when I'm in a rush, I would expand the Canvas/Viewer (viewed at 100%), pick the clearest frame, and do a screen capture.
For example, with the captured image (in Photoshop), I have a marquee preset at 640x480 (NTSC). I created an action to crop, resize to 720x480, then set the Pixel Aspect Ratio to NTSC.

  • Best settings for professional printing quality .pdf from Microsoft Publisher file?

    Hello,
I have created a couble of design documents in Microsoft Publisher, and would like them professionally printed. The printer who will print them has asked me to send him the artwork as a .pdf, with crop marks, color density bars and registration marks.
I have Acrobat X Pro, and have tried to use the print AdobePDF function from within Microsoft Publisher but I am struggling to get the best quality result with all the printer marks. Can anyone suggest what are the best setting for a professional .pdf?
I have chosen 'Press Quality' print settings and that helps to make the images look good. But I cant make it work with CMYK? The Adobe printing function doesnt seem to like the 'Composite CMYK' selection needed to make the printing marks available?
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Liz

Try the "Smallest Size" Preset. As a side note, you can reduce the ppi from 300 to 150 in Image > image size (resample on) to reduce file size and keep quality.

  • What is the best process for creating a webi document?

I inherited a BI 4.0 environment with published repositories, dashboards, and webi documents.
For development purposes, I tried creating the webi document local to my machine (due to how slow it was to create the document using BILaunch pad and/or the webi rich client on the "console")
I created it as 'standalone, pointing to a local universe'; however, I can't figure out a way to move it back into my enterprise world.
I was able to convert and publish the local universe to my enterprise repository; however, because I created the document in standalone mode, it doesn't appear to want to let me change the data source to a universe.
So right now .. I have a webi document that won't let me select a universe for a data source.
Any help or proven methods for creating documents then moving them to an enterprise environment would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I don't think Acrobat, or the Acrobat SDK can help you. Acrobat cannot be run on a server.

  • Best settings for optimum resolution Quicktime movie

Could someone please let me know what settings will give me the best possible picture resolution and sound quality to make the final Quicktime master from my edit before putting it onto DVD. The capture setting was HDV 720p25.
    Thanks.

    Terry,
I am assuming that you are going to be making a Video DVD (not just a Data DVD). If this is a correct assumption then you can do this very simply:
Thanks to Shane Ross and his stock answers...
#42 - Quick and dirty way to author a DVD
Shane's Stock Answer #42 - David Roth Weiss' Secret Quick and Dirty Way to Author a DVD:
The absolute simplest way to make a DVD using FCP and DVDSP is as follows:
    1. Export a QT movie, either a reference file or self contained using current settings.
    2. Open DVDSP, select the "graphical" tab and you will see two little monitors, one blue, one green.
    3. Select the left blue one and hit delete.
    4. Now, select the green one, right click on it amd select the top option "first play".
    5. Now drag your QT from the broswer and drop it on top of the green monitor.
    6. Now, for a DVD from an HD source, look to the right side and select the "general tab" in the track editor, and see the Display Mode, and select "16:9 pan-scan."
    7. Hit the little black and yellow burn icon at the top of the page and put a a DVD in when prompted. DVDSP will encode and burn your new DVD.
    THATS ALL!!!

  • Best settings for 16:9 web deliveryI

    Hi all,
I would like to deliver 16:9 (small size) for web delivery directly out of FCP2. I have a bunch I made from DVD's through Handbreak which works and looks ok (see http://www.paparazzi-films.com/Site/Film-DVDs/Pages/Films-DVDs.html) but I now have material which is not in DVD format.
    setting advice is appreciated
    Michael

    You might also try H.264.
I just created a 15 minute 640 x 360 at 200K data rate size of 35 Meg using Compressor - that looks almost identical to the 800K data rate version.
The latest Flash 9 can play H.264 (as well as Quicktime Player) - so it is a platform agnostic solution.
This is a useful player for web display of H.264 using Flash 9.

  • Best settings for taking still frame pictures from video?

My project file has been converted to .avi and uses mp3 sound.
I like to take still shots from the action portions of the video,
but of the three options under frame hold: (hold on, deinterlace, and hold filters) which are the best to use?
are there other settings i should use when trying to unblur these images?
ps i searched the entire forum for a quick topic and came up empty.
    Thanks!!!

Just pause your timeline on the frame you want and click the 'Freeze Frame' icon.
Select Export from the dialog box that shows. You now have your typical file save box - select Settings.
Now use the drop down on 'File Type' and pick your preferred format. For a lossless image use BMP or TIFF.

  • Which is the best API for creating restful web services.

    Hi guys,
I have tried a lot of apis to create a restful web service. But none of them has perfect documentation or examples. Which is the best one that has good support and future.

"Best" automatically implies opinions and speculation; one I personally believe has a bright future is Jersey. Jersey is the reference implementation (RI) for [JSR-311|http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=311] ("The Java API for RESTful Web Services" or JAX-RS).

Can anyone give me a list of steps to make the best possible quality DVD from an FCP reference file? The film is 10 minutes long, NTSC. Or can someone direct me to some threads that address this issue? Thanks so much.

  • Best Settings For Video With Quick Movements?

The video project I'm working on contains a lot of quick movements. When I try exporting it into a Quicktime file, most of the video looks fine, but any of the quick motions have a strange choppiness to them that I've never seen before. The choppiness exists only in the isolated areas of the movement.
What settings would you recommend? I have tried numerous. Or has something gone wrong with my Final Cut Express HD?

Try the Deinterlace Filter on the dodgy bits. I can't promise it will work but it's worth trying.
    Effects>Video Filters>Video>De-interlace.

  • What is the best method for creating a simple DVD from X?

Now that I no longer have DVD SP on my system, I need to know the preferred method of creating a simple menu driven DVD. The DVD needs to have a simple (one click) since the local cable company needs that so it will trigger at a specified time. I shoot in 720p 60. The DVD is SD. I do have Toast, Compressor, and iDVD on the computer. Any input will really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Cheers.

    Thanks Luis.
Can't beleive I missed that. I am so used to using Compressor or Toast. This method works great. Thanks.

  • Best Settings for Exporting DVD Footage in a Movie File

    Hello,
I've been trying to find the best settings for exporting DVD footage into a movie file from Adobe Premiere CS6.
I recently have been using my Magnavox DVD recorder for recording VHS tapes that I made long ago for shows and various other things, and no matter what, my footage doesn't come out as it needs to be.
Here's an example of what I did recently with my own settings:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFV4sT7rHGs
I'm not expecting HD footage, I know these are tapes, but I'm playing the raw footage on my Xbox 360, and it looks better than this. I had to directly use the VOB files on the DVD for this, as trying to rip the files into an AVI or any other format with a DVD ripper didn't do anything, in fact it degraded the quality and made the audio not play in Premiere.
So what would be some good settings for exporting a sequence with DVD footage that is from a VHS into a movie file, preferably one that wouldn't degrade the quality?
    Thanks!

First, read Why not edit mpeg http://tangentsoft.net/video/mpeg/edit.html to get a general idea of why a VOB makes a very poor source file (which is a renamed MPG, with some other stuff like menu screens)
Also, Read Bill Hunt on editing a VOB/MPG file http://forums.adobe.com/thread/464549
Once you have a DVD compliant VOB on your timeline, and understanding that a standalone DVD recorder sometimes plays fast-n-loose with "compliance" per the DVD specification, about all you can do is export to standard or widescreen DV AVI and accept the fact that re-encoding an already compressed file is just not going to give great results

  • Best settings for PP mov's?

Got a few videos SD 720x486 I need to export from FCP 7 (uncompressed timeline) for use in a Powerpoint - what's best settings for PP? mov, h264, audio at 44 or 48k, what? Should we keep them at full 720 size, probably?
    Thanks
    K

ON a Mac or a PC?
WMV for the PC but learning how to embed is a function of learning how to use Ppoerpoint, not FCP's tools.
H.264? Dunno, what does the manual for PP say about compatible movie filetypes?
If you are handing these movies off to an experience PP producer, they will be able to give precise specs. If your'e doing this yourself, give yourself some extra time to work out the screwups. We have two wiseguys who insist on doing their own PP instead of letting our PP wonks do the jobs. They have never been able to figure out how to embed or link to movies and they do not understand why we tell them to have the movines in the same folder as the PP files.

  • Best Practices for creating reports/Dashboards from BW systems

    HI Gurus,
Best  Practices of creating BO Dashboards / Xcelsisus from BW systems
    Prasad

You can use the BICS connector that leverages BW queries directly.  It is listed in the Connection Manager as "SAP NetWeaver BW Connection".  You will need both the ABAP and Java stack and SSO configured between the two.  You will also need to have SAP GUI and BEx installed on the machine you are doing development on.  Note that dashboards using this connection can only be hosted in NW Portal for the time being until the next release of BI 4.x platform.
Here are some links on getting started with the BICS connector:
