Best web interface to maintain a table

Hi gurus,
I have a requirement to implement a web interface to maintain a Z table. Currently I am using BSP pages for that. But of course they lack the capabilities of sorting, filtering, unless they are added programmatically.
Is there other way to achieve the web maintenance interface, such as web dynpro, screen painter etc? It would be great if there is some existing component with this kind of built-in functions.
Thank you!

Any inputs anyone? Your help is greatly appreciated!

  • Empty Grantee drop-down in web interface?

    Having two schemas, sample1 and sample2, with a table in sample2 that I want visible to sample1, I want to apply the GRANT statement to that table with sample1 as the grantee.
    Using the web interface, after selecting the table Object Browser, selecting Tables from the list, then clicking once on the table of interest, then clicking the Grants link, then the Grant "button", I am presented with a dialog for issuing a grant.
    However, the Grantee drop-down list is empty! I was hoping to see "sample1" listed there.
    Issuing the statement in the SQL Command window functions appropriately, of course. The Grants page even shows them properly afterward.

    Robert,
    Good catch. I filed a bug on this issue.

  • What's the best out-of-the-box web interface for a SQL DB?

    I'm developing a Java web application that will be backed by an Oracle database. Users would like a simple web interface that allows them to accomplish what they could with SQL queries without knowing SQL. The basic operations would be:
    * displaying a database table in a table format
    * downloading the table as a text or Excel file
    * customizing the columns in a table display
    * displaying a query result set in a table format
    * constructing a query using drop-down menus
    I'd probably want to program in a simplified UI for a few common queries.
    This really looks like functionality someone should have invented before me. Question: what is the right tool for me to be using? I'm surprised I haven't found something by searching.
    It looks like I could just directly write JSP, but I think something else might be simpler. I think related functionality exists in Spring, but I didn't find exactly what I'm looking for, and Spring brings a lot of other stuff also. Nothing in my application is more complicated than this, so I'd be happy to keep things simple.

    I wouldn't write it. I would just use Oracle's FREE Apex application which does all of that and more and is fully supported even on Oracle's FREE Express edition data database.

    About Application Express
    Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX), formerly called HTML DB, is a fully supported "no-cost" option of the Oracle Database. Oracle Application Express is certified against all editions of the Oracle Database 10.2.0.3 and above, including Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Oracle XE).
    Oracle Application Express installs as part of the seed database installation with Oracle Database 11g.

    Browser Based
    Using only a Web browser and limited programming experience you can develop data centric applications in minutes. Browser-based development enables you to develop applications on most computers using only a modern Web browser.
    Rapid Application Development (RAD)
    Use simple wizards and declarative programming to create powerful reporting and data entry applications. You can create applications from spreadsheet uploads, or on existing database tables and views. Oracle Application Express includes SQL Workshop to create and manage the database objects that support your application.
    Application Express Components
    Application Builder - Database Applications
    Application developers use wizards to declaratively assemble applications organized in pages. Page content is organized into regions. Regions can contain text, custom PL/SQL, reports, charts, maps, calendars, web service references or forms. Forms are made up of fields (called items) which can be selected from the multitude of built-in types (such as text fields, text areas, radio groups, select lists, check boxes, date pickers, and popup list of values) or a developer can create their own types using plug-in support. Table update functionality is built-in and PL/SQL can be used to process data. Session state (or application context) is transparently managed and the user interface presentation is separated from the application logic so that the look and feel of an application can be changed simply by selected a different theme.
    Application Builder - Websheets
    Using Websheet Applications, end users can manage structured and unstructured data without developer assistance. Page sections contain unstructured data and are edited using a WYSIWYG editor. Reports provide access to database data by writing SQL. Data Grids can manage structured data without writing SQL. Adding columns, renaming column, and validations are defined using runtime dialogs. Each page and row of data grid data can be annotated with files, tags, notes, and links. Pages can contain sections as well as reports and data grids and all can be linked together providing navigation. All information is searchable and completely controlled by the end-user.
    SQL Workshop
    The SQL Workshop provides tools that enable you to view and manage database objects. Object Browser enables you to use a tree control to view object properties and create new objects. The SQL Command tool enables you to enter ad-hoc SQL. Query Builder enables you to create join queries using drag and drop. SQL Scripts enables you to store and run scripts. The Data Workshop enables you to load and unload text, DML, and spreadsheet data.
    RESTful Services
    RESTful Services allow for the declarative specification of RESTful services mapped to SQL and PL/SQL.
    Team Development
    Team Development helps manage the life-cycle of an application's development. It provides tracking and management of application features, to do entries, bugs, and end user feedback. Team Development is tightly integrated with the Oracle Application Express Application Builder. For example, edit page lists open feedback, bugs, and to do's.
    Administration
    Each Oracle Application Express workspace is a separate application development environment that is fully insulated from other workspaces. The administration component provides workspace management, including services (available schemas, space requests, and preferences), users (both developers and end-users), and workspace activity (page views, login attempts, and developer activity). Access is limited to Oracle Application Express developers who have workspace administration privileges.

  • Displaying a BW query in web interface

    Hello People ,
    I am trying to see a BW query in a web interface . I will tell you how am I doing it . I run the transaction RRMX which opens an excel sheet and gives me a tol bar from which I open a query . Then I choose info areas from the next window and it shows me a tree structure with two nodes
    1) Financial
    2) Industry sectors
    I expand industry sectors > retail > staff works
    This takes me to two nodes
    1)       operational
    2)       sales infocube
    I expand sales infocube and this takes me to a couple of nodes
    1)       Key business driver
    2)       Manager forcasted sales
    3)       Productivity data source
    4)       ….
    5)       ….etc
    I select key business driver and choose the “CHANGE” icon from the toolbar . This opens the query designer . There I have an icon in the toolbar which says “display quey on web” . I click that and it attempts to display the query in internet explorer .
    Now the problem is the the message that appears on the browser is
    Warning sign : variable OFPER for characterstic fiscal year/period has been converted to required entry .
    Error sign : Error when generating data provider .
    Now my question is what does this message mean ?Does this mean that the required content that I am trying to access has not been activated or there is some configurational issue ?
    Regards
    Deepak Singh

    Hi Deepak,
    It means that there is a selection screen for Fiscal period in which you have to enter the Fiscal Period. Only for the Fiscal period for which you entered the data would be displayed.
    But the best way to create teh web report is to goto Web Application Designer -> Drag and drop the "Table" webitem on the right hand side -> Assign the Query to the web item. Now execute it in browser from the Web Application designer. Copy the link and use it whenver you want it.

  • Variables in BPS populating the template built using web interface builder

    Hi All,
    I have a issue :
    I created some variables in bps0 (under a planning area) based on Fiscal Year, Fiscal Year/Period, Posting Period, Cal. Yr /Quarter and Version.
    Then I created a template using the web interface builder .
    The end user goes and puts the varaibels in the SEM template and that will run the BW queries in BW (ABAP code has been written to popluate the values entered in SEM tempalte in to BW variable screen).
    Now the problem is it works well for all values other than for #(not assigned).
    What should be done to make it work even for #?
    We do not have # as the value in master data for all the above info objects. We have # only for 0version  and for the rest I can't even see the master data as it says " master data is not maintained" .
    when I come back and look in bps0 then I see that the values entered in the SEM template are getting accumulated in selection conditionds in bps0 (when we click on the variable then when we see the selection conditions there it is getting accumulated)
    Can anyone please suggest a solution to make the # (not assigned) work and to clear the selection conditions table after refresh of the SEM template?
    Thanks
    Sri

  • Writing a web service that returns a table

    Hello Experts,
    I'm a bit new to J2EE programing and will appreciate your help.
    The main question is:
    What is the best way to return a table from a web service?
    In details:
    I wrote an EJB calling an RFC.
    The RFC returns a table.
    I've created a web service from this EJB and need to return the above table as an output parameter.
    What is the best way of passing the JCO.Table as an output parameter?
    Should I pass it as an Object (and the client will take care of the casting)
    or - is there a simple type I should convert the table to before passing it?
    Thanks for your help, Adi.

    Hi Adi,
    The way I always return a JCO table in my Webservice Interface is returning an Interface.
    Say you JCO table is a Person with different attributes in it.
    Then I create an Interface IPerson with methods like
    public abstract String getName(); etc.
    I also create an object Person with methods:
    public String getName() {
    return name;
    In my bean the I have a method:
    public IPerson getJCOPerson() {
    //retrieve the JCO table person
    IPerson pers = new Person();
    pers.setName(//name from JCO table);
    etc.
    return pers;
    I hope this helps you further.

  • Query in Web Interface

    Hello all,
    as described in the "How to integrate BEX Web application into BPS WEB Interface" i've implemented the below listed coding. In the query we ask for a from and to date. Depending on the users setting i have to build the filter value for the query. Unfortunately i have no idea, how to read inside this java script function the user setting from table usr01-datfm.
    please help. thank you.
    Dieter
    // create variable of date, get the actual date and subtract a number of days
    var heute = new Date();
    heute.setDate(heute.getDate()-2)
    // move the values to separate variables
    var jahr = heute.getYear();
    var monat = heute.getMonth()+1;
    var tag = heute.getDate();
    var heute = new Date();
    var from_date;
        from_date = <i>jahr + '.' + monat + '.' + tag;</i>
    // renew variables and to the same
    var heute = new Date();
    heute.setDate(heute.getDate())
    var jahr = heute.getYear();
    var monat = heute.getMonth()+1;
    var tag = heute.getDate();
    var to_date;
        to_date = <i>jahr + '.' + monat + '.' + tag;</i>

    Hi Dieter,
    From your earlier comment I understand you are using the principles as explained in How to integrate BEX Web application into BPS WEB Interface.
    You thus have a BPS web interface. This web interface contains a text item that calls a URL.
    This URL calls a web application.
    The web application calls a Bex query.
    Yes it is possible to use ABAP programmed userexit variables in this query.
    Please assign points if this solved your problem,
    Best Regards,
    Filip

  • Web interface to search database

    Currently I need to implement a web interface for search & enquiry of databases.
    The senario is there is a page to provide search criterion, the criterion may comes from column A from Table 1, column B from table 2 (all thse tables can be joined). After speicified these criterion, the search result can display fields from various columns of various table.
    Is there any framework does it?

    No. If there were a simple way, they wouldn't be able to charge money.
    There are free tools, but they aren't nearly as easy to integrate and use.
    See iReport / JasperReports.
    Works best with Ant and Eclipse.

    - copy the CSS
    - modify and import the fiel .CSS in my folder into the node /sap/bw/mime/BEx/StyleSheets/mycss.css
    - Assign the theme with the CSS in table UPWB_THEMES_MAP.
    This is all and doesn't work.

  • Executing the planning function while opening the web interface

    hello all,
    I have created a planning area based on multiprovider.This multiprovider is based on two transactional cube ie,COPA cube and Cost Center cube.
    This planning area is meant for enabling integrated planning.One plans in COPA cube and other plans in Cost Center cube the income statement gets planned based on this two.
    I selected planning items in multiprovider layout to display the income statement.The layout is as follows:
    <b>PlanningItem</b>  <b>Amount</b>
    Net Sales<b>:</b>    9.000,00 INR   (This comes from COPA)
    Sales Overheads<b>:</b> 200,00 INR  (This comes from Cost Center)
    Depreciation<b>:</b> 200,00 INR (This comes from Cost Center)
    Other Expenses<b>:</b> 300,00 INR  (This comes from Cost Center)
    EBIT<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Interest Income<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Interest Expense<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Operating Income<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Taxes<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Now EBIT planning item is to be calculated from the planning items as follows:
    EBIT = Net Sales-Sales Overheads-Depriciation-Other Expenses
    For this i have created a planning function which calculates EBIT.This function works properly,there are no issues in it.
    My problem is that i want this function to be executed as soon as i open the web interface for my planning application and the result should be as follows:
    <b>PlanningItem</b>  <b>Amount</b>
    Net Sales<b>:</b>    9.000,00 INR   (This comes from COPA)
    Sales Overheads<b>:</b> 200,00 INR  (This comes from Cost Center)
    Depreciation<b>:</b> 200,00 INR (This comes from Cost Center)
    Other Expenses<b>:</b> 300,00 INR  (This comes from Cost Center)
    EBIT<b>:</b> 8.300,00 INR
    Interest Income<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Interest Expense<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Operating Income<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Taxes<b>:</b> 0,00 INR
    Can anybody suggest how to go about this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Yogesh

    Hi Yogesh,
    as far as i know, there is no standard functionality for that purpose, but there are workaround for it.
    1. Modify the BSP Application.
       Go to SE80 --> Repository Browser --> BSP Application --> your WI name --> page with flow logic --> double click on page1.htm --> Event handler tabstrip --> on the drop down selection press F1 --> add a function module that call you BPS function in specific event (e.g: OnInitialization).
    2. Use WI-Exit Class / WI-Extention (ABAP OO).
    Here you need to create sub class from Class: CL_UPWB_BSP_APPL, and assign the class to your WI. You can then add a function module that call you BPS function in method:
    2.1. Load --> performed only once on intial execution of WI.
    2.2. Initialisation --> called once for each server response.
    2.3. Dispatch --> called at each action and also for each WI component.
    You can see further information in SAP how to paper:
    How to Validate manual input in WEB planning application, New BPS-Features delivered with SAP BW 3.5, etc.
    You can call your BPS function with BPS API FM (See F.Group: UPC_API)
    But there is also more easier way to realize your ebit calculation. If you define your EBIT calc. manually in layout (define with manually defined Lead column). With this way, You will always get your EBIT analog with inputed values.
    Then you add your EBIT calc.function to Layout Component in WI in property: 'Function After Data Change'.
    Best Regards,

  • How can I find out the web interface a module function is executed from?

    Hello all,
    I was wondering if anybody knows how would be possible de determine the web interface a function is being launched from, within the function.
    I've got this function that is used for a exit variable that updates the variable value depending on another variable in a web interface. The thing is that this very same function and variable will be used in many web interfaces and the "source" variable will be different for each mask.
    So, for example, mask 1 will have variable 1 as a selector variable and variable X will be updated by it. Then I also have variable 2 in mask 2 as a selector variable and variable X will be updated by it as well.
    I want to develop a code, within the function module, that depending on the web interface that is calling it, it will use a source the correct variable and for this I need to know which web interface is calling the function.
    I hope to have been able to explain myself clearly. It's a purely technical question.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards.

    Hi Francesco,
    Are you talking about that ??? )) It will explain you about to get the name of the web page when you are executing an abap function for determining the values of variables...
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/biw/g-i/how%20to%20make%20a%20variable%20even%20more%20flexible%20in%20bw-bps.pdf">How to make a variable even more flexible in BW-BPS?</a>
    This is weird: I wrote that document a few weeks ago, it is theorically published on SDN but this is not possible to find it by using the research tool... Maybe because it applies only to BPS in 3.5. I did not have enough time to migrate that solution to BI-IP 7.0.

  • Deliver report to Content Store directly with web interface

    Hi all,
    We are currently implementing a system which will use XMLP as the letter/report/document producer. XMLP will be accessed from other applications (Siebel, EBS or else) using a preformatted URL so that the user will be in context of the report/letter directly. We would like the user to generate the report using the parameters in the XMLP web interface and when the report is ready, that there was only a "Send" button which would put the report in a temporary folder in a Content Store (Oracle Content DB). We would like to achieve that without the user having to input the destination of the file, like with a WebDAV or FTP. So we need to customize XMLP to remove the "Schedule" button and change the behavior of the "Send" button.
    We would also need to be able to send the context of the creation of the report in order to be able to store it at the right place in the Content Store. In order to do that, we would pass an Id by a query string in the URL when calling the report. I know this information is stored in the XMLP_SCHEDULER_JOB table in the DELIVERY_PARAMETERS field so it must be accessible in the app as well. A BPEL process would be used to move the document to the right place.
    So, 2 questions:
    - Is it possible to change the behavior of the "Send" button? Has anybody done that?
    - How can we save the context of the execution of a report to a file at the same time we are generating the report? (parameters used, template used, etc.)
    Any clue, hint or helpful thought would be very appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Pierre-Yves

    Hi MadhuSudan,
    I couldn't find the EBS Delivery you are refering about. Is this something using the Concurrent Manager from EBS? If so, this is not what I am trying to do. I really want to give access to XML Publisher and save the output report the user has made with the parameters he used to create it in order to store it in a content store. XMLP will be accessed by EBS and Siebel through a URL.
    I am curious to look at your java program and shellscript, could you send me a link to the URL where I can find the information you were refering to?
    Thanks!
    Pierre-Yves

  • Assign User Profiles and Web Interface Transactions to Users

    Hi EM Gurus,
    Has anyone worked with not standard scenarios in SCEM?
    They are working well but I can't access them on interface web.
    In selection page (search page after logon), where choose tracking scenarios, only standard scenarios appear although I have assigned both scenarios to the user and made same configuration; Assigned and Defined Web Interface Transactions, Configured Fields for User Profiles, Defined User Profiles, Assigned User Profiles and Web Interface Transactions to Users.
    But only Standard Scenarios appear as choice of tracking scenarios that are displayed to the user as a dropdown box on the selection screen after logging on to the Web interface.
    Has anyone accessed not standard scenarios on interface web??
    Help, please!
    Thanks a lot.
    Rodrigo Freitas

    Hello Rodrigo,
    if you have assigned the scenarios to your user in transaction /SAPTRX/UCUSER you must go to the admin page and reload the profile manager.
    /admin in the URL of the WCL instead /ehsearch.
    Afterwards you should see them also in the drop-down box.

  • SRW224G4P: no web interface access

    Hi to all!
    I've read many ppl having similar problem, but mine is a little bit different.
    The web interface of my switch (SRW224G4P) used to work very well, but since some time it is not possible to access, it sends back a page that contains:
    <html><body><script>window.close();</script></body></html>
    On Safari and IE it closes the window (of course), on Chrome it stays blank.
    If I try to access via HTTPS it raises a problem with certificate, saying the certificate is for sw0.ph.cube.lan (the previous name of the siwtch) and not for sw0.voip.cube.lan (the actual name). I suspected it could be something related to name change, but even going back to the previous setting does not resolve.
    I've tried to reset to factory defaults, even reflashing with the same firmware version, but the problem is not solved yet.
    HW: SRW224G4P
    SW: 1.3.1
    TIA
    Andrea Mistrali

    Hi Andrea
    You have done everything I would have tried, except have you upgrades your Internet explorer to a very recent Version ?
    the datasheet shows that the unit supports only "Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 5.5 or later)" but I am thinking that it works best with  IE6.
    Maybe someone else has a better idea, but try using a IE version 6 and maybe not the more recent versions of IE.
    If that fails, since the product has a "5-year limited hardware warranty with return to factory replacement and 90-day limited software warranty"
    If the problem really is switch software on that switch, it sounds like a case for a replacement.
