Better control of Layer Properties reveal/hide: HOW?

If there's one property I want to see, and only one, but it's an obscure one, how do I hide all other properties for that layer?
What if there's several of these properties that are a little obscure (no shortcut) and I want to see only them?
How do I only see the items I want to see in a Layer, and close all others properties?
How do I then see all properties and then add one of these properties to the desired view state, and now collapse back to only the properties I want plus this new one?
How do I save these view states for future return?

I don't even know the lexicon to ask this question properly, so excuse me getting this wrong, but please understand my intent.
I just want to work MUCH more efficiently and can't find a way to even search for this kind of information without wasting hours learning about the UU shortcuts etc that I already know for the layer properties that do have their own shortcuts for revealing and hiding them.

SS is a third of the way to the goal.
Fails at:
1. Showing ONLY the selected items. It shows their trees, too.
2. If the item is the top of the tree, one might expect the use desires to see all in that tree. NO. Tree is selected and shown with shortcut, but closed. Even if it was previously open.
3. As soon as you start editing keyframes, the selection state of these properties is changed, so this is a One use shortcut. After that you're going to get lost, and need to open all properties, Shift-Select the desired ones and SS again.
4. There's no way to save Selection Sets. And certainly no way to re-reveal them.
Imagine the joy of being able to Tap: SS4, for example, and bring up the properties stored in this preset?
"But how would you store a selection set?", I hear you ask.
Easy, like radio stations of old, in car stereos. Select Desired Selection Set. Tap SS4........ holding the 4, until there's a "BEEP". Selection Set is now set.
Come on Todd, it's 2015.
How hard is it to put property selection sets in AE, and correct for the rest of the issues above?

Controling default shape properties...how?

Is there a way to control the default settings for a new shape? I would like it to be in line with no color fill (default seems to be floating with a green color fill).
I don't think there is...but thought I would ask.

You can change the size, shape, color, stroke, etc. of a shape but I can't find a way to set inline as the default. Change the color, wrap, etc. to your choosing & then go to Format > Advanced > Define Default Shape Style then delete the object. Repeat with an image/photo, a text box & a table.
Now, save this as a template then, in Pages > Preferences, select this template as the default for new documents. All of your new documents will have these settings for inserted objects, images & tables. Unfortunately, the settings won't apply to any other templates or "foreign" documents you open with Pages.

How to control custom button display or hide in toolbar

I had been added four buttons in Acrobat Tool bar.
Now I find a function AVToolButtonSetComputeEnabledProc in SDK that this function only control the button enable or disenable.
Now I want to control the custom button display or hide, how can I to do?
Does this SDK have a API to achieve my need?

As of Acrobat X, we no longer support dynamic hiding/showing – only enable/disable.

How do I Reveal/Hide Hidden Layers for viewing with Acrobat Reader (iPad)?

I've created a document in Quark Xpress with multiple layers which I then exported to a PDF. Using Acrobat Pro I created hotspots which revealed/hid these layers on rollover. It works perfectly on the desktop version of Acrobat Reader but not on Acrobat Reader for iPad (where the hidden layers are automatically switched on and touching the hotspots does not hide them). Does anybody know a good work around to this?

There are many features which are possible in the desktop version of Adobe Reader which won't work in Reader for tablets. I think this is one of them. Probably no workaround possible until the feature is updated.

Measure a particular Layer Properties (width & height) through coding

I am working on the Apparel Model images. Everyday we work with different models. Once done with the shooting process, we make the required correction on it so obviously we come across height issues at the retouch (Photoshop CS5) end.
The following steps will describe the process on how we do it. We have a template for the image cropping (Template's Width X height: 3700 X 5000 pxls). Usally we used to drag the template to the apparel images then will make a proportianate tranform for the template according to the model's height and crop it. this is what we are doing in the manual process. We have an idea of creating a script for this category. the same steps will be executed by the script. First Select the appropriate folder which will be processed by this script. application will open the images one by one. Steps: Open the Template image, copy and paste it on the another document. According to the Model's height make a proportianate transform to the template layer (In this step, we need to know about the particular layer properties for ex: (if the activeDocument's height is 3000pxls. the tranform will happen proportianately to the template layer).
My Question is How do we measure a particuler layer properties and how to access it through coding?
My Second Question is : How do we get the properties data and how it will be applied through coding?

Open the Template image, copy and paste it on the another document.
Copy/pasting via Script is not such a great idea, the method duplicate may be a better fit to duplicate a layer into another file or group.

Layers habe a property called bounds, this describes the left, top, right and bottom coordinates.
It may be prudent to set the unitRulers via the Script to make sure they are always the same units (px, pt, mm …).

FW8 Slider controls missing on properties box

The slide controls in the properties panel for such things as
text size, transparency, grain, edge size etc. are suddenly
missing. When I click where they should be, the screen goes blank
and I have to press the escape key to return to fireworks.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? I uninstalled
FW8 and re-installed it. I restarted the computer completely, tried
turning off all other running programs, reducing the color set to
16 bit.... Nada.
I DID recently change from a CRT to an LCD display
(widescreen) but do not know if the missing elements happened at
that point or not.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can make
changes to the values by typing them in, but it is pretty tedious.

I notice that the javascript files got uploaded by NetFinder as binary files and got the ".bin" suffix appended to them. I bet that's the problem...they should have been uploaded as text files.
NetFinder says it uses the file mappings in "Internet Config" to determine how a file gets uploaded. Do you know where those mappings are in OSX (I don't see a system preference called "Internet Config" anymore).

Better control over the creation of thumbnails

While i have nothing against the current method of generating thumbnails with ADDT, I feel we need better controls as to how our thumbnails are created. By all means, the current option of generating thumbnails on the fly can remain, but I feel we need a tab on the image upload behaviour that allows us the developers to determine how our thumbnails are created.
This will mainly happen during the image upload process. For example, in order to get uniform thumbnails, a developer could decide that he wants to crop his thumbnails to a certain size so that they can look good in a gallery. This i feel will come in pretty handy for those who are using Spry to create a photo gallery. At the moment, the one way you can create thumbnails on upload is to create a custom trigger and enter the required code to be executed after the file has been uploaded.
So this feature will be welcomed i feel by many who are not too happy with the current method of generating thumbnails.

Well said Emmanuel since the ADDT thumbnails are only created when requested by the display thumbnail server behavior. So some additional flexibility would be welcome. For example, when you do not wish to use the server behavior. Till then, we just have to use a custom trigger and to some ADDT users, thats advanced stuff.

Controlling OCG display properties

I am trying to automate the set up of my layers (OCG's) in Acrobat.
Apparently, according to the JavaScript Reference (and Thom Parkers tutorial - http://www.acrobatusers.com/tech_corners/javascript_corner/tips/2006/create_use_layers/)
there is no way to control the View/Print settings of the OCG layer via JavaScript.
What I want to do, is set one OCG, to print only and the other to view only via JavaScript - but there isn't a documented way to do this. Apparently you can only do it the layer's properties window.
Does anyone know of a workaround to setting this property?
I am working in a 'Trusted Environment' and using app level JavaScripts to set this.
I suppose, I could put a script in the WillPrint and DidPrint document actions to toggle the state of my layers before and after printing - but I thought that actually setting the layer properties would be 'safer' and more reliable.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

UPDATE: Okay well so it turns out I can add a Watermark to a file - and in doing this I can set those properties.
However, even though the book says that a watermark is an OCG - it does not show up in the layers tool...?
It does show up in the OCG array when you ask for this.getOCGs()....
so it is some kind of special OCG - or I just don't understand layers well enough.
Anyways, this helps. Though after you add a watermark there is really no way to control, except to remove it or interact with it through the limited OCG object properties for it.

Photoshop Elements select tool, when targeting layer or multiple layers the layer properties box pops up. Having to very carefully and repeatedly select and highlight layers to move, or merge when using Move Tool. Win 8, Adobe 12, Intuos 4 w/ updated dr

This issue has been going on for several weeks.
The Move Tool is not functioning properly when selecting and TARGETING a layer or multiple layers, as the Layer Properties box pops up requiring me to close it and try again.
How to reset or is there an update and fix for this issue.
Using Win 8, Elements 12, and Intuos 4 Pen and Tablet.

To reset the tool I suggest click on it once and then look for something like this in the bottom half of your window:
In the above picture I have marked one section in red box. You need to click on it to get the option to either reset the only tool you have clicked or to reset all the tools in the editor window. Of course you have to be in Expert Mode to get this to work.

Better control flow?

Actually this is a general question I've been wondering for a while...
As the title states, I'm looking for a better control flow statement for what I planned.
I have 4 variables that determine types of pipe in a program in my main class. There are 6 possible pipe types.
For example Type 1 would have plastic grade = 5-7, color = 2, inner reinforcement = yes etc.
My main method determines which type the client chose, (if it matched one of the types or not so if all 4 were true then it matches x type.)
It's going to get really ugly if I use ifs and I don't think using a case statement would work.
Any suggestions in what I can use?

Unless you're just referring to getting user input and using it to look up a pipe >type?That would be what I'm doing, if I could figure out how to get the input variables from my applet class to the class that sorts out which pipe they picked.
Except the variables had to be defined within a method so the try catch statments could be added to them to catch the nfe as most of them are converted from String to int.
Let me suggest you to use nested switch case to solve the problemHmm, ok, I'll look into that. Would nested ifs suffice?

larger than the
designated size of the layer. In Firefox, the layer stays the
preset size
and does not expand with the table within. How do I get FF to
expand like IE
does ?

Program error when opening layer properties

Hi! I have a really difficult problem in Photoshop. Whenever I try to open the layer properties I get the error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error." Can i place controls from the properties dialog of an express vi on the front panel?

I'm using the spectral measurements express vi in my vi and I'd like to put the "window" and "number of averages" controls from the properties dialog on the front panel. However, there are not outputs on the express vi icon for these parameters. Can I place controls for these on the front panel somehow or do I always have to go into the block diagram and open the properties dialog to change the values?

The way to do this is to right click on the express VI and select Open Front Panel. This will convert it to a standard subVI. then go into the subVI and replace the Spectrum Averaging and Spectrum Window constants to front panel controls by right click on them. Right click the icon and select Show Connector. Wire the new controls to a free terminal on the connector. You may have to add additional terminals if there aren't any available to wire to the new controls.
