Bex 3.5 : hide variable screen popup running SAPBEXrefresh

Hi all,
We need to create a simple tool specifying a file list of excel workbooks containing queries to be refereshed.
Thanks to the doc of "boeke" and the precious Peter Knoer's posts, I've done the following :
> log on BW,
then for each workbook in the specified file list,
> open workbook,
then for each query of the opened workbook ,
> get Variables from the "SAPBEXqueries" worksheet
> Run SAPBEXsetVariables ("Memory and reuse variable values" option is ticked on)
> Run SAPBEXrefresh
..and so on
Everything works fine, except that each time the SAPBEXrefresh runs, the variable screen pops up with the "free caracteristics" input. I've nothing to input in there : and if click on the run button (F8), it continues correctly.
How can I get rid off this variable screen popup from the refresh process ?
Thanks in advance for all your helps,
Sylvain

Hi sylsyl ,
I guess you need variable screen at starting level. but when you refrest result set it should not show.
if it is the requirement, you will have two different buttons to refresh.
1) variable refresh
2) normal refresh
Instead of using normal resfresh you might use variable refresh.
so please use normal refresh. it will be solved.
Regards,
Ranganath.

  • RRI Problem : Variable Screen Popup while Jumping  to Target Query

While jumping from Source to Target query (both are BEx queries), Variable Entry Screen of the Source is popping Up again during Jump, which after pressing Execute (F8) without entering any values, displaying Target Query results correctly. My Target query is having one and only variable on Inv Doc Num of type Replacement Path and I am not supposed to get any variable Screen Popup during Jump. How can I suppress this reappearance of Variable Screen??. I have tried with Delete Options etc in RSBBS  Assignment rules and searched for OSS Notes but not succeeded so far. I am on BW3.50 SP20. Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Jr,
I am not having the same variables in the Target at all. In fact the characteristics for which variable screen appears in the source are not there in target. I mean Posting Date, Billing Month...Etc are not ther in the Traget. In the Source Query Rows, I have Inv. Doc No as one of the Characteristics. No variable is defined for Inv Doc Num in the Source Query.
I am not getting your question"From which cell..??". If I select any perticular Cell in the Inv Doc Result Rows of the Source Output, During Jump it will return only the details of that particular invoice only? Is itn't?. But I want details of all those invoices, that appesrs in the Source Output. That is why, I am selecting my Jump target from the GOTO botton (Red Arrow like Symbol in BEx Tool Bar), and choosing my Target.

  • BEx Analyzer Query Selection Variable Screen Issue

We are in the process of applying support packs to our system--BI7.01 and we are going from SP04 to SP10.  After the application of support packs, when we execute a query (or a workbook with attached query), the query variable screen that normally appears does not, the query just executes without being able to filter/enter selection criteria.
We are using BEx Analyzer 3.5--long story about not upgrading to BEx 7.x.  In our systems without support packs, the queries/workbook execute as expected.  I've tried making a variable mandatory in one of the queries as a test and the selection screen then appears; however, we have hundreds of queries.
I've searched SDN and OSS and have found some similar issues, but not a solution.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hello Michael,
Thanks for the informationit's funny as I think I was stumbling upon this notegoing support pack by support pack--when you posted it.
We applied to our development system and we are now getting the selection screens, so it does appear to resolve the situation.  Thanks again for the information.

  • Issue with variable screen while running query on portal or in a workbook

    Hello
    I have a peculiar problem. The query has a variable on a char which is a combination of date+time = 20100817 12:34:45.
Now, when I give a range as selection, for ex: 08/01/2010 - 08/10/2010 the query incorporates it as 20100801 00:00:00 - 20100810 00:00:00 and it gives all the records for this range.
    1. Now, I save it as a workbook. Then if i open the workbook and run it, the output is 'No data found'. Its saying that it cant interpret 20100810 00:00:00 as a number.
My question: I know there are no master data values specifically for 20100801 00:00:00 & 20100810 00:00:00.. but still the query works when i just give the dates. And it dosent work when i run the workbook.. why??
    Regards.

    Solved it myself.

  • Reg. Variable screen while loading bookmark

    HI Friends,
We are working with WAD in SAP BI 7.01 ( With SAPKW70105 patch).
We are having some issue with variable screen display while loading bookamark.
Actually user wanted to show the Variable screen while running report, So we explicity switched on the "Display Variable" in web template
Even we have the option called "While loading Bookmark" in webtemplate.
We have given the option as HIDE for "while loading bookmark. This option is working fine, if the report doesnt have the mandatory fields in the selection screen. At that time if we create bookmark and click on created bookmark means.. it will show us the report without showing the variable screen (Selection screen).
But if the report is having mandatory fields in the selection screen and if we create the bookmark, click on the same.. it will prompt the selection screen (which we dont want to ).
So can anyone please help on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ravish

    HI Friend

  • How to display the variable screen with report in the same page together

our customers want to design a web application use BEx
they want the variable screen can be displayed with the report result in the same web page together
so they can modify the variable filters any time and refresh the report with new variable filter
i have tried the navigation area, but it seems only use new filter to the data athough get,we can't change the filter we input in the variable screen.
is there any way to display these together?
    even I can use BSP.

I think to display var screen with the report is not possible.(At least it will not be static). You need to refresh the report and choose the varibale at that time.
Other option could be to bring all the possible value in the report and provide your user with the filter value. But this will make your report slow as you may have to bring more data in the filter.
    Thanks...

  • How to hide OC4J screen

    hello
i want hide oc4j screen that runs along with forms. can i do it? my intention is to just hide the black screen. any idea pls...
    thanks in advance

Andreas, I think he's asking how to hide the OC4J Windows Batch window that appears when you want to run a Web forms Application Server instance on your Windows platform in order to test your forms.
Here is a thread talking about starting it automatically when Windows is started:
Re: Forms 10g installed and running on Windows Vista
You can make it start minimized if you alter the OC4J shortcut properties, setting the Run property to "Minimized". That makes it appear minimized on the Windows Taskbar. I don't think you can have it running without appearing there.

  • Variable screen not seen when running BEx Analyzer

    Hi Gurus,
when i execute my query in BEx Analyzer for some reason i dont see my variable screen and it gives me a message saying variable values not entered. If i run the same report in RSRT i do get my variable screen. It was all find till yesterday and for some strange reason i dont get to see my variable screen.
    Can anyone help me
    Surya

    What version are you on?
Did you try resetting personalized variables? You may have hit that by mistake, happens a lot here. Not sure that would be the case with no values entered however.

  • How to hide some variables on variables screen in web report (in WAD)

I need to hide some optional variables (not all of them) on variables screen in web template.
Hiding the whole selection screen is not an option, since users have to populate other variables and some variables are mandatory.
Web template is based on a query that can be run in BEx Analyzer by superusers - and there they need all variables. I want to use the same query both in BEx Analyzer for superusers and on the Portal for regular users. For portal version though I need to hide some of the variables on the selection screen. Is it possible at all?
I would like to avoid creating two separate queries - one for Analyzer and one for Portal.

if the variables are optional and mandatory both avaialble
then there is no chance that u can hide them
the only option is to create a save as QUERY and remove those variable.
it is not possible to just hide the variable screen...
if u hv used they will be displayed....
if u dont want it dont use it...
and if really using another query is not advisable as u said
the only thing i can say is that... try to interact with ur security person
ask him u need to create several authorization objects for several variables
    if that is possible
    let him create those
assign those specific authorization object to specific user id
use it for specific variables u need
tat way super users with specaial authorization can acess the same query and can see specific variables
regular users withouts authorization of variables can see rest of variables.

  • Variable screen performance in BEx - post upgrade to BI7

    Hello,
We have recently upgraded to BI7 - SP16.  We are using the 710 gui, patch level 3.  Bex version is 3.5, patch level 6.
Since we have upgraded, we have been experiencing a major performance hit when opening the variable screen of a query, as well as navigating within the variable screen.  We are using the Excel version of BEx.
When we were on 3.5, opening the variable screens only took about 5 seconds, now it takes 30.  To use F4 for the dropdown lists, in 3.5 it took about 3 seconds, now it takes 15.  To enter multiple selections, it took 1 second, in BI7 it takes 15.
Our users, needless to say are getting very frustrated with the performance.  The query execution time is comparable to when we were on 3.5.
I have this open as a high priority issue with sap, but they have yet to come up with a fix.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Charla

    Hi
    check this notes:
Analyzer variable screen: Performance and documentation
    SAP Note Number: [1044219|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bw_bex/~form/handler%7b5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d31303434323139%7d]

I think note 1044219 is important for you:
    1. The BEx Web Analyzer executes queries before the system displays the variable dialog. This cannot be avoided.
    2. You cannot prevent the BEx Web Analyzer from saving variables in the workbook and using them again when you reopen it.
Additional it includes other notes and hints regarding performance in variable screen and F4 help.

  • Variable screen not popping up in BEx Analyzer

    Experts,
I'm facing a wierd situation while executing queries in 3.5 BEx Analyzer. When the query is executed using 3.5 BEx Analyzer varibale screen does not pop and report strats running wide open. The Varible input is optional. But if  the report in executed using Web (From the 3.5 Query Designer) variable screen pops up. This happens with the same user ID.
Please let me know if you have any ideas, could this be something realted to authorizations. In the meantime, i'm trying to change the varibale to mandatory and see if the variable screen pops up.
    Thanks

    Hello
The standard behavior is not show the variable screen if it has no mandatory variables. In the webtemplate you may have the parameter forcing to show the variable screen added in the code. It is something like  "force variable screen". Please check if you can see that parameter.
    regards

  • Variable Screen Does Not Display in Bex Web Analyzer after first time

We recently upgraded from BW 3.1 to BW 7.0 (without upgrading specifically to 3.5).  We are having a problem with our Web Bex Analyzer not showing the variable screen although the variable screen is displayed successfully when running the same query from the Bex Analyzer.  Based on feedback from other posts regarding similar topics, we modified the 0analysis_pattern template to ensure that Display Variable Screen was checked on.  We are finding that when we open the Web Bex Analyzer and do a New Analysis, the first query we try to run will always have the variable screen displayed successfully.  Any susbsequent queries we try to run by clicking on New Analysis in that same open window will not show the variable screen and will start executing open ended.  This is occurring regardless of whether the query has mandatory or optional variables and we have confirmed that there is no personalization set for the variables being used.  We have tried it with several different queries and the results are consistent.  The first query you run shows the variable screen successfully and any queries run after that do not.  Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated as we have exhausted our resources researching and troubleshooting this problem.

We did open an OSS note and heard back from SAP.  We made the recommended setting, see their response below, but as they stated, it will only show variable screens for queries that have at least one mandatory variable entry after the first query is opened.
    Response from SAP:
Please check if the following setting is made within your template --
In the 'Standard Actions' of the Web Template, do you have the setting
'Action Before First Display' set to OPEN_VARIABLE_DIALOG
The behaviour of the variable screen is different if you use mandatory
variables and optional variables. If you have only optional variables,
the Display Variable does not force the variable screen.
Also, using the parameter VARIABLE_SCREEN=X only influences the
web application at STARTUP. This would not come into affect when you
use the 'New Analysis' button. This button resets the dataprovider so
this would not affect the variable screen and would not redisplay the
    variable screen as you require.

  • BI 7 Bex Query - User exit variables after variable screen re-processed

User exit variables are not re-calculated after the variable screen is called up to re-run report with a new selection.  Is there some way to force the user exit variables to change?   I am aware of note 1064273 but this doesn't seem to help in these circumstances.
    Example:
My Bex Query uses OI_FYPER for a static characteristic selection and  I have defined a customer exit formula variable which uses the values in OI_FYPER.
All works fine when the query is run first time but if the user calls up the variable screen to change the selection and re-run the query, the customer exit formula variable is not re-calculated (customer exit is called but only with ISTEP = 3).
Software version is NS2004S (BI 7.0)  SPS10, BI ABAP SP11, BI JAVA SP10, BI Front End Package 1401 rel 354.

hi.. i just came to know about this in another thread..
I_STEP 3 does not have I_VNAM stored. So, to access values at I_STEP3 :
    data: l_range TYPE RRS0_S_VAR_RANGE.
    if I_STEP = '3'.
read table I_T_VAR_RANGE into L_RANGE with key VNAM = 'OI_FYPER'
    if SY-SUBRC = 0.
    ...code as required...
    endif.
    endif.
    Customer-Exit for analysis Authorizations: i_step = 3, i_vnam is empty

  • Variable Screen for 3.5 BEx Queries In EP 6.0 Iviews

    Friends,
Does anyone know how to force the variable screen in an EP 6.0 Iview based on a 3.x BW.  I have a query written in Web BEx with several optional variables.  When I launch this from Web BEx it stops at the variable screen.
The problem is that when I run this query from an Iview in EP 6.0 it bypasses the variable screen and goes directly to the data.  In the web application designer I can set the flag to force the variable screen, is there a similar feature in Web BEx or is there a parameter setting in the iView that would work?
    Thanks
    Kevin

  • BEx Analyzer variable screen not showing for user

    Hello,
I have a BEx query that shows the variable screen to enter the query parameters when I run the query but when the user runs it, he is not given the variable screen and therefore cannot enter the variables.  Both the user and myself are running the query in BEx Analyzer (Excel).
The user is new to BEx.  Is there perhaps some security or role setting that needs to be changed?  Something else?
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Paul,
I am also facing exactly the same problem as you were facing. Could you please tell, whether your problem got solved? If yes, then would you please provide the solution for the same?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sanjeev
