Bex Reports date problem

Hi all,
We have created some queries in BEX. If the date field is not containing data even in the middle of the rows, it giving error as
"ERROR BRAIN 299
ERROR ERROR reading the data of infoprovider
ERROR SQL0420N Invanlid character found in a character string argument.."
Please suggest anything.
If you fill all the rows with some date data , it is executing.
Please help what to do incase of no data for date fields.

If there is no data for other fields, it displaying as # and Unassigend.
But for date fields , if there is no data, it is giving error message.

BEX REPORT:DATE FIELD THROWING "X"

Hi,
We have a report which is being executed on an infoset.The data is being pulled from ECC and SRM systems.There are primarily 2 issues with this report
1)Purchasing Group descriptions are not being pulled.Instead an abbreviation is being seen in the report.It looks like currently ony short description is being pulled.Is there a way to pull the long description/medium description for this particular infoobject "Purchasing Group ".Please advise on this issue.
2)We have date fields, SC create date(Shopping cart),First Approval date and Last Approval date and Requested Delivery date in the report.
But the issue is First Approval date and Last Approval date fields are throwing up"X" in the report.Also,Some times ,it appears that ,the date field is being populated in the underlying ODS but in the report ,it is throwing up"X"
Also, some information on the date fields at infoobject level.
The date field is defined as a keyfigure
Type/data type is Date
Data Type is u201CDEC-Counter or amount field with comma and signu201D
But whether it should be u201C DATS Date field (YYYYMMDD)stored as char(8) .
Please provide some resolutions to work around this particular issue.

Hi Amar,
As far as 'text' is concerned, check the following changes.
-ensure that medium or long text is maintained for that field.
-in Bex, under th display tab for that field, select 'text view' as Medium length text or Long length watever is maintained. (its standard by default).
this should solve your text problem.

In CRM 2007 we have a BSP application with a BEx frame that displays BW reports.
When we want to jump to a CRM activity from a BW report - we right click the report and use the "go to --> activity" feature of the context menu.
The problem is that the context menu is always being displayed in the same place.
So if a user right clicks a report that is located at the bottom of the web page - he has to scroll all the way up to see the context menu.
The context menu is suppose to appear at the location of the pointer when performing right click - but it doesn't.
I hope i made the problem clear
has anyone encountered this before ?

Asset Aquisition report date problem in indian fiscal year style (urgent)

i am developing asset aquisiton report in which i should get
the record of asset depending on indian fiscal year (1st april to 31st march).
so that means if i enter 31.03.2006 then i should get all the asset records
from 01.04.2005 to 31.03.2006.
how to do it. its very urgent. plz if aany one has done this scenario for
asset aquisition report then plz send me the code.

the data is displaying in MP.
What are the possible ways to check it and to get data in Report.

Assuming you are getting this issue now and earlier same query has worked for you.Two quick ways for investigation and for getting the results are
1--> Delete the cache of your query, and then try running the query again.
2--> If cubes used are BWA indexed, try running the query with and without BWA, see if you are getting same output.If outputs are different , reindex the cube, this should solve your issue.

Reporting dates problem

hello,please help me with this. i have 2 dates date1 and date2. i want to get the difference between these dates.
i created 2 formula variables off date char. and make it replacement path and give the char. name.ok.then i created a formula and i did this
date1 - date2

Hi,
Since it's Char type InfoObject it's not possible to create a formula in the query. You need to find No. of Days in the data modeling only.
- Create a Key Figure InfoObject (INT Type),
- Add in the Infoprovider
- Do the transformation. Pass the two dates to the New InfoObject , Calc. Date2 - Date1 as Result
- Use the New Object in the query.

How bex report take data

Hi Friends,
We loaded data to cube it was successful,again i loaded data which was modified in source system and before loading this time i deleted the previous request.
Now in cube only one request is there and in bex report data was reflecting correctly.
This cube data is used in SAP BO reporting means they built reports on cube then in their report it is not reflecting .
i have two questions here.
1) Apart from cube where data will be stored in bw server if it happen how to delete the complete data in bw server?
2) how bex fetch data from cube? ( because the way bex retreaving is differ from bo report retreave)
Pls can any one tell me.

As for my Knowledge data will be stored in two palcess , One is cube (nothing but F& E tables) Another one is PSA. But PSA data is not used for bex. So we will use only on cube data.
Bex report will bring the data from OLAP processor, it will bring data from data base tables(F&E).
once you run the query first time it will fetch data from data base(F & E tables) to olap processor and copy the same data in olap Cache then send to Bex Analizer.
second time you run the same query then it will fetch data from olap chase .

Bex Report Designer - Large amount of data issue

Hi Experts,
I am trying to execute (on Portal) report made in BEx Report Designer, with about 30 000 pages, and the only thing I am getting is a blank page. Everything works fine at about 3000 pages. Do I need to set something to allow processing such large amount of data?

Hi Sauro,
I have not seen this behavior, but it has been a while since I tried to send an input schedule that large. I think the last time was on a BPC NW 7.0 SP06 system and it worked OK. If you are on a recent support package, then you should search for relevant notes (none come to mind for me, but searching yourself is always a good idea) and if you don't find one then you should open a support message with SAP, with very specific instructions for recreating the problem from a clean input-schedule.

Navigational attribute data not visible in BEx Report

Hello All,
I am facing following problem in one of my BEx reports:
I am fetching data from an ODS. With other columns of ODS, I have also to show few navigational attributes( which are master data of some info-object) . In report the corresponding data in navigational attributes is not visible for few records, although when I see the master data of this Info-object (whose navigational attributes I have to include), in Adm. Wrkbench the data is visible. I wonder what step is missing.

Hi Roberto,
While trying to activate the Infoobject's master data (by right-click) I get the following message,
"Lock NOT set for: Loading master data attributes"
And the data is not activated.
Can you please suggest what needs to be done.

Concatenation of Data from 4 infoobjects into a single cell in Bex Report

Hi,
I have loaded ODS with the description data. The source system for loading the ODS is the flat file. The ODS data should be a replica of the flat file.
In the flat file, there is a description field corresponding to a particular ID. This Description is greater than the standard 60 char length. So, I had to split the description while loading the flat file using single line routine in the Transfer Structure.
So, while loading different the data, I split the description field data from the flat file into 4 infoobjects and the flat file data was loaded into the ODS.
Now, from the reporting point of view, I need to display the entire description data from the 4 info-objects into a single cell in the Bex report.
Please suggest a solution for this.

SAP Crystal Reports data source connection problem using sap business one

Hi,
I m facing a problem regarding: SAP Crystal Reports data source connection problem using sap business one
I am trying to create a Crystal report but when I try to configure a new connection it does not work.
I select Sap Business One data source and try to complete the information required to connection but it does not list my companies databases, what is the problem?
Our Current SAP related software details are as follows:
OS: Windows Server 2008
SAP B1 Version: SAP B1 9 (902001) Patch 9
SAP Crystal Report Version: 14.0.4.738 RTM
Database: MS SQL Server 2008 R2
I have also added some screenshots of the issues.
Please have a look and let me know if you have any questions or any further clarifications.

There is problem with SAP Business One date source.
I had faced same problem, I used OLEDB Data-source, and it worked fine for me.
So, try to use OLEDB.

Bex Report issue - transaction data of type Char not dispalyed complete

Hi BI Expers ,
I have one issue related to Bex reports here
I have complete data loaded in DSO , there is one field Job Title which is having a length of 60 char . When I am executing the report in Bex Analyzer , the value for Job Title is getting truncated after 30 characters . Although full 60 chararacters are loaded in DSO still I am not able to present them in reports .
Can some one help here , whether this is Analyzer limitation or is there some setting to fix this issue .

Hi Anurag,
Check the Output length of the object that is giving out put as 30 charecters.
And check in Business Explorer tab option for BEx Description short, medium or High.

XML Publisher to Excel Report : Date format problem

Hi,
I am trying to create an Excel report with XML Publisher. I have an issue with the Date Fomatting.
In the XML template, I have set the "Date" column in date format. But the excel output report "Date" column returns as "General text" (string) and it is sorted as text, not as date.
Can anyone please help me out?

Did this post solve your problem? I have the same issue that I need to solve.
I have an xsl-fo template with dates in it.
The dates are in english.
My excel is setup to use danish.
When I export to excel it knows the month jan, feb, mar, apr, ... which are the same in danish and english.
But months where it differs like may (danish maj) the cell is a general text instead of date.
Is there anyway you can set/transform the date in the xsl-fo template so it does not care about the language in excel?

Not able to access the Date variable in Bex report after SP upgrade

We have upgraded the support pack to 27 and after that we are not able to access date variable in Bex report.
We are not able to restrict the Posting date on variable, we are getting the message "Operation failed! No detailed error information from backend available".

carry out basic checks like RSRV for the field,query ,Infoprovider on which this query is based..
Check whether there is any in consistent value in the posting date..
check whether objects are active correctly..
else serach for SAP note or raise OSS to SAP..

Keyfigure dsiplay problem in BEx Report

Hello Experts,
In my BEx report i need to display keyfigure values as a whole numbers instead of fraction.I have selected 0 in decimal place of keyfigure properties but the problem is if I have a decimal it gets truncated instead of round figure. Eg. for value 153.65 report shows 153 but I need to display as 154.

To be more specific suppose u r having a key fig say KF having the value 153.65.
Don't set any decimal place for the KF. Just go to the properties and hide it
Now create a new formula and set the decimal places to 0 in the properties and use the following formula.
( FRAC ( 'KF' ) < 0.5 ) * FLOOR ( 'KF' ) +
( FRAC ( 'KF') >= 0.5 ) * CEIL ('KF')
