BFILE use in Oracle Forms

Can anyone tell me how to get BFILE Datatypes to work in Oracle Forms 6i? I am able to create and build my table with BFILE datatypes and create and build my directories. However, when I build my form in runtime, I execute my query and it bring up an error message "Can not execute query".
Could someone please tell me how to build forms in Oracle Forms 6i so that it can use BFILE Datayes?
Thanks!

JavaBean does d othe job for you but it requires signing process; I used it when I was working on forms6i for our project.
I could use another approach that is the file type command executable which it stays in client's PC to do it and it does not requires signing at all since I am now working on the Java EE project for downloading and launching the third party tool in client's PC.
I plan to write a article for forms use, which could do all the heavy WebUtil can do, but not need to go thru the signing process.

  • Modifying properties with a file for Web Service Stub used for Oracle Forms

    I have created a stubbed-out web service in JDeveloper (10.1.3.4) and imported into Oracle Forms.
    However, I would like to use a properties file to call the appropriate endpoint based on if the environment is dev, test, UAT or prod. I see that a properties file is referenced in the _Stub class. Here is a snippet of code from that class file:
    public CriticalChangeWS_Soap11_Stub(HandlerChain handlerChain) {
    super(handlerChain);
    setProperty(ENDPOINTADDRESS_PROPERTY, "http://epw-01.gds.graebel.com:8087/CriticalChange.svc/Soap11");
    setSoapVersion(SOAPVersion.SOAP_11);
    setServiceName( new QName("http://tempuri.org/","CriticalChangeService"));
    setPortName( new QName("http://tempuri.org/","CriticalChangeWS_Soap11"));
    setupConfig("wsquery/proxy/runtime/CriticalChangeWS_Soap11_Stub.xml");
    How can I use the XML file to set the ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY?
    Thanks.

    Hi Frank,
    I got the following two lines of code just to check if WebServiceConnection was able to read the connections file alright.
                String urlString = wsc.getWsdlUrlStr();
                System.out.println("WSDL URL: "+urlString);
    I am not using urlString for further processing.
    The output is
    WSDL URL: http://<host>/PSIGW/PeopleSoftServiceListeningConnector/MyService.1.wsdl
    java.lang.NullPointerException
            at java.lang.Class.isAssignableFrom(Native Method)

            at oracle.j2ee.ws.common.jaxws.runtime.GenericJavaType.create(GenericJavaType.java:118)
    The WSDL Url pointed to is the one that I configure in the connection while deploying the App.
    Ran a test and WSDL Url is accessible by the app.

  • Uploading a file into unix using a oracle form

    We have multiple excel sheets in process which are being processed. But currently, we ask users to keep them in a Windows folder and then we have a job that picks it up and moves it to unix.
    Was looking for an approach where in if i have an input txt field in an Oracle form which will take user's desktop location as input and move the file to the unix location.
    The rest of the process of processing the file is in place.

  • How to create dll file and jar files in oracle forms ? and how to use in oracle forms?

    pls teach me....

    Your question is more related to batch programming.
    From what I understand, you want to add 100 [ :o ] jars to the classpath to execution and you probably don't want to write all the names in the batch file. There's a simple way of adding jars by running a loop. The code should look like the following:
    dir /b "%LIBDIR%\*.jar" > temp.tmp
    FOR /F %%I IN (temp.tmp) DO SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;"%LIB_DIR%\%%I"
    del temp.tmp

  • Migrating Oracle forms to APEX 3.2 without using Forms2XML tool

    Can we migrate Oracle forms to APEX 3.2 without using Forms2XML tool?

    Hi Anoo,
    In order to convert Oracle Forms to Oracle Application Express, using the Forms Conversion utility in Oracle APEX 3.2, you are required to convert your Forms Module (FMB) files to XML format, using the Oracle Forms to XML conversion tool, Forms2XML. I would recommend that you review Chapter 4 [Converting an Oracle Forms Application|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/migrate.32/e13368/appmgr_forms.htm] , in the Oracle Application Express Migration Guide Release 3.2
    If you have any further questions relating to the Oracle Forms to Oracle Application Express conversions, I would recommend that you refer to the [Application Express|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=137] forum.
    I hope this helps.

  • Printing a Oracle PDF Report from within a Oracle Form on Linux

    Is there a command I can use in Oracle Forms to invoke a shell script to open a PDF output report stored on a physical location on the Linux server and print it to the printer?
    What I'm currently trying to do is send a Report called within Oracle Forms 10g to "DESTYPE=FILE DESFORMAT=PDF DESNAME=directory/filename.pdf". I'm storing all the information about the file and printer information prior to it being run with the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT. What I want to happen is as soon as it finishes generating the file, I want (behind the scenes) is it to locate the file, open, and print it automatically, but never show the output to the user on the screen.
    I know with the "DESTYPE=cache DESNAME=filename DESFORMAT=PDF" that it puts the info in the Reports Server / Cache directory, but also opens it in a separate browser window of which you can select the printer at that point. I don't want to do that in this option.
    I previously tried to use the "DESTYPE=printer" option but, the issue with it has to deal with fonts. I do not want to store fonts on every printer, given the different types of printers our users have. I can print to the printer but the fonts are all messed up so, not an option.
    So, basically I'm trying to replace that option with generating to a PDF, then I don't have to worry about fonts, since I have them all working, then I can just open the PDF file on the server and send to the printer. I was wondering if that is an option available in Oracle Forms when calling reports. I figured that when someone sends the option of "DESTYPE=printer" that it must be calling some shell script on Linux that handles this. I'm just not seeing it.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Chris

    Ok, one final question because I want to see how far this can go.
    Can I issue this command via the HOST inside the form? Basically I'm telling it to open and send the file to the printer. The vFileName is the directory/filename stored on the Linux Server. I can execute this command on the command line of Linux and it works
    HOST( 'lpr -P gt-ybs-ps /u11/app/as10g/tools/web/html/pc_rp00120100210035258.pdf');
    I promise this is my last quesion.

  • How To Use Recursion In Forms?

    I have the following table
    Table name: Project_Details:
    Coulmns:
    Project_num Number(6) PK
    Project_Title
    Project_status
    Parent_project_Number Number(6) FK (It’s a foreign key for the project

    Am using the Oracle Forms Builder to develop the following screen with the following data
    Project Number: ……….
    Parent Project Number: ……..
    Childs Projects:
    I have the following case that I don’t know how to implement:
    Example:
    The user create the following Project Numbers
    Project number: 100 >>> Original or parent
    New project 105 >>> Child of 100
    New project 107 >>> Child of 105
    New project 109 >>> Child of 107
    So when the user re query 100 the Childs project filed should have 105,107 and 109 as a recursion of parents as shown below.
    Screen Result:
    Project Number: 100
    Parent Project Number :
    Childs Projects:
    105
    107
    109
    Another query with project number =107
    Screen Result:
    Project Number: 107
    Parent Project Number : 105
    Childs Projects:
    105
    100
    If any body has any idea in how to implement this idea using oracle forms and SQL please help me. Its urgent..
    Thanks in advanced..

    Hmmm, looks like you can't update a connect by prior view. That's a shame.
    Anyway, here's what you need:
    CREATE TABLE test
    (child number
    ,parent number);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (1, null);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (2, 1);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (3, 1);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (4, 2);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (5, null);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (6, 5);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (7, 6);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (8, 5);
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW test_hier_vw
    AS
    select lpad(' ',2*(level-1)) || to_char(child) hier
    from test
    start with parent is null
    connect by prior child = parent;
    SQL> select hier from test_hier_vw

  • Can Oracle Forms access SAP R/3's Oracle 9i Database?

    I have an SAP R/3 with an Oracle 9i R2 database.
    I would like to access the contents of say KNA1 in Oracle 9i.
    Has any one try to integrate SAP R/3 using an Oracle Forms, say formaple, to maintain or just search/enquiry customer details in the table called KNA1?
    Any discussion is welcome.

    If it's an oracle database and you have a username and password that is able to connect to the database, then yes, you can connect Oracle forms to it.
    Beware that you don't breach any support agreements with SAP, though or alter any data within the system that might cause corruption!

  • Question on Dynamic Query Data Source and Form Folders in Oracle Forms 6i

    Hi there -
    I have one interesting requirement in Oracle Forms.
    This is what I wanted to do.
    1. Have a LOV and Go button on Form.
    2. From LOV, I will select a pre-defined custom table and click Go.
    3. Based on the selected custom table, I have to populate the Block (Tabular Format).
    4. User should be able to do update, delete, insert on this block.
    5. User should be able to use the Oracle Form folders functionality (select only necessary column and save views etc. Std folder functionality).
    6. If user selects a different custom table name in the LOV on top, I need to refresh the data from the block based on this new table. Remaining functionality should be as it is (steps 3 to 5).
    You can see here, I am going to have dynamic query data source (Table Name as well as column mapping) on the block. I do not know before hand how many columns the user selected table has!
    This is what I have planned for this so far but I have some major questions before I can move on with this design:
    1. I am going to create a table structure with fixed number of column in form (40 cols assuming that the custom table will not have more that 40 cols). (Kind of limitation but it's okay as of now).
    2. Dynamically populate the block based on the table name selected by the user from LOV. Dynamically change the table column names based on the table selected etc.
    3. Perform insert, update, delete using PL/SQL package.
    So far it looks okay.
    Now my real question is,
    Can user still be able to user "Folders" functionality here? I have never done this kind of development before and I doubt the dynamic column naming, dynamic column data source will really work for "folders"!
    Also, I am not really sure whether user will be able to save these "folder" queries?
    Okay so form experts, can you ppl suggest me if this is really going to work? Are there any better ways to do this?
    Initially I tried to do this in OA Framework but I got stuck at because as per OAF developer guide "I cannot user OAF personalization for dynamic items, regions etc".
    For more info on that thread see this link...
    Re: setUserCustomizable issue!
    Thanks in advance for the help.

    Any suggestion anyone?

    Of course you found another one. Each .and every Oracle database client home (such as developer, app server) has one.
    Don't just change the port - the tnsnames.ora in the dev home does not point to a database service. It only points to an extproc [external procedure called by a database]. You need to put a database service entry into that file similar to the one in the database home. (Easiest solution - copy the tnsnames.ora from db home ... after you've made a backup)
    And please don't tell me you are using Developer 6i - a simple Google search would verify that the networking is incompatible.

  • EAV modelling approach on database tables and how to use it in Forms Dvl

    Hello,
    I am dealing with two tables in data modell which are structured on EAV ( Entity-Attribute-Value ) modelling approach.
    Survey( Survey# number not null,
    Start_Date_Of_Survey date not null ,
    End_Date_Of_Survey date null,
    Sts_Of_Survey varchar2( 4 ) not null ,
    Contractor_Partner# number not null, -- reference foreign key, to Partner's Table
    Survey_Report CLOB ) ;
    Survey# primary key of Survey.
    Meta_Survey_Parameter_Register( Parameter# varchar2( 40 ) not null,
    Additional_Parameter_Desc varchar2( 240 ) null,
    Type_Of_Value varchar2( 60 ) not null,
    Data_Type varchar2( 10 ) not null,
    Unit varchar2( 10 ) null,
    High_Value varchar2( 20 ) null,
    Low_Value varchar2( 20 ) null );
    Type_Of_Value Is restricted to : ATOMIC_VALUE, INTERVAL_VALUE_FROM_TO
    Data_Type is restricted to: Date, time, number( X,Y ), varchar2,
    Unit is varchar2 value not resstricted: for example: %, kg as kilo, m as meter, m/s as meter per second, null
    This table is meta table so it suppose to be used as some register - static part of the schema.
    Then I have table which attaches Parameters to the Survey as the association table
    Survey_Parameters( Survey#, Parameter#, Value, Comment );
    Primary key( Survey#, Parameter# );
    I need to implement this in Forms and Reports.
    My question is how to implement it to maximally make good use of Oracle forms 10g or 11g features and Oracle Reports 10g:
    a) when fulfilling the survey and use of parsing rules supplied in Meta_Survey_Parameter_Register
    b) at the producing as the survey report with reports
    c) in data analyisis in data warehouse impementations.

    Hello Craig,
    Thank you Craig for your answer.
    I must confess that I am also not familiar with EAV theoretical background and concept. Till recently I even did not know that this kind of problem could be placed
    in theoretical background called EAV. This put smile nad releive on my mind. Because since this moment I do not feel this kind of problem as some exception or
    some exceptional tools or data design ( object modelling and object databases ) suppose to be used. This way I can still counted on concepts in RDBMS databases
    and applications. Well I guess so.
    Let me comment and answer on your text between your lines.
    I am only conceptually familiar with EAV modeling, so I don't claim to be an expert! ;-) Given the abstract way in which data is stored with EAV, I would suggest that you first create a SQL Query that will produce the desired record set.
    Ok. But I guess you have in mind to transform vertical set of values to horizontal ( pivoting, transposing )?
    View has cast operator that transform data type of each parameter from general ( e.g. varchar2 ) to the one that is registered in the
    Meta_Parameter_Register. This way it is provided to get the survey with the list of assigned parameters in horizontal shape?
    Once you have this, you can either use the Query as the source of a Database View and then base your Forms data block on this view or you can use the query in a Procedure and base your Forms data block on the procedure or lastely, you could use the query directly and base your Forms data block on the query using the "From Clause" option.
    Ok, I think I understand it.
    So When I have horizontal list there is challenge during
    - insert
    - delete
    - update
    operations how to handle these operations to transform to vertical operation.
    This could only be done with Forms data block based on procedure and instead of triggers?
    The simplest option would be to create a DB view and base your block on the view. You will not be able to update the data however. If you need to be able to change or add new data, I would suggest you use a Procedure based block. Take a look at these links for additional information on using Procedure and From Clause based blocks.
    Ok Craig, sounds like it makes sense.
    IT seems your suggestion is caling for some simpler example with the same characteristic of the problem.
    Like two tables:
    Master( Master#, ..... )
    Detail( Master#, Detail#, value_low_or_just_value, value_high, data_type )
    Forms: How to base a block on a FROM clause Query
    Forms: How to base a data block on a Procedure
    Ok,
    Hope this helps,
    I see your point and it makes sense , it is only the challenge to see how much of flexibility I can reach and how cheap workarounds are to preserve
    the level of flexibility in the tools that are not naturally supporting EAV ( like forms and reports ).

    Sure...
    We are on the line.
    I am sure there is someone else in the community that experienced this kind of challenge.

  • Oracle Forms Sizing

    Hi gurus.
    Somebody have a sizing tool for an Oracle Forms Application?
    I need to prepare a server to run an Oracle Forms Application. I have almost 700 users that will use this Oracle Forms Application.
    Somebody have any idea or some suggestion?
    Thank you.

    We have 2000 users and about 300 - 400 active at any time.
    We used two load balanced dual processor single core dell's with 8GB of memory. No issues.
    Even when we push the user limit it holds up.
    Also Linux, 32 bit OS and 32 software while the hardware is 64bit.
    App Server likes memory and CPU
    Hope this helps

    Mercury used to make a load testing tool for this, but the cost was very high. It was called Load Runner.
    HP took them over but I don't know if they have a product that works with iAS
