BI apps 7.9.6.3 on Linux 64 Bit
Has anyone had any success in installing OBIEE (11.1.1.5), DAC (10.1.3.4.1), Informatica (9.0.1 hotfix 2) and Oracle BI Apps (7.9.6.3) on Linux 64 bit?
We have been provided 2 physical Linux servers (say A & B) and 2 virtual server (say C & D) for the same. We were able to install obiee 11g on linux el5 machine (A). We were able to also install the Informatica server (9.0.1 hotfilx 2) and DAC server on the machine (B). As per e-delivery, Bi apps 7.9.6.3 is not available for linux 64 bit platform, hence we have downloaded for windows and planning to install on windows machine(C).
Has anybody have idea, whether how could we install bi apps 7.9.6.3 on Linux as our OBIEE 11g is installed on Linux machine(A).
Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay
User 861326 is misleading. BI Applications 7.9.6.3 IS supported on Linux 64 Bit. It is only the client tools that are windows only. The server components are all supported on platform Linux x86_64. I have installed Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Release 1 (10.3.5), Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5) (64-Bit), Informatica PowerCenter 9.01 Services, Datawarehouse Administration Console Server on RHEL 5.5. Yes you have to install of BIApps with your selected Analytics modules to generate the RPD, Catalog, informatica repository, dac repository into obiee on a windows machine then copy the files to the linux server. But this is a "one off", you can uninstall it from your windows machine afterwards. Once you have copied all the files to the linux server you dont need the install on the windows machine anymore. But you will need that or some other windows machine for the client tools.

Apps allways wanting to install on 64 bit linux
Ive got Air installed on 64bit Ubuntu by following the instrcutions here
i then went and installed BBC iplayer
everything worked fine.
but when i try to download somthing from bbc iplayer, it says that i need to install the app, I click ok and air redownloads the app before saying that i allready have it, do i want to lauch it?
to launch the app i have to stop it as its most likly allready running, then allow air to lauch it which finally completes the download....
how can i make it so that Iplayer sees that i allready have it installed and just start the download
works fine on my 32bit laptopInstalling AIR Runtime and/or an AIR application from broswer is known as 'Seamless Install'. This feature basically detects whether AIR runtime is already installed on the system and behaves accordingly.
Unfortunately, this feature is not yet supported on 64-bit Linux distributions.

Webgl app i use running on win7/linux crashes now in ffox linux v21. what broke?
I get a complete crash when a tab containing a "sampler2d" source texture is displayed in the webGL app I write code for and use. The same app runs fine in windows 7 firefox v21, and in linux chrome.
Can I regress back a version of firefox so that I can work?Thank you, FredMcD... One shot, worked perfectly. Chose the MSI over the EXE installation.
It'll be good getting back to using Firefox ... chrome is rather a pain in the arse...! -
How to install Pro*C on App Server 10g rel 2 for Linux
Hiya,
Pro*C on the database platform seems a straight forward install.
Can anyone please tell me how to do the install of the Pro*C onto the App Server platform, so we can test and execute the programs there? Are there instructions for this?

Tony GriggJust unzip all Instant Client zip files in the same directory, they all have "instantclient_11_2" as first path element,
so everything will end up in the right place in this directory.
If your Instant Client directory has a different name, unzip the package somewhere and move all files and
directories in it to your instant client directory.

How to Use Associated App to open a file in Linux command line?
Hi all,
I know in windows i call always run:
Runtime.exec("start aPicture.jpg");in order to use the default picture viewer to view the pictures
Runtime.exec("start aEmail.eml");in order to use the default email viewer to view the .eml file
is there a simular command in linux as well? does it depend on different distributions as well?
thank you.is there a simular command in linux as well? does it
depend on different distributions as well?In linux it's different because the handling is done by the desktop environment. KDE has it's own file associations and Gnome has it's own. There might be some way to start a file like that, but you first need to see which DE is installed (if any) and start it using that DE's method.
But I don't know how to do it, even though most likely it's possible.

Unins tall Oracle Apps 12.1.1 in Ent Linux
Hi
This is the first time that I tried to install EBS in Linux. The installation resulted in errors. So I want to try it again after uninstalling. Friends, can anyone give me a step by step method to do a clean uninstall of EBS and Vision Database in Ent. Linux. Appreciate any effort.
Thank you
Regards
JacobAli,
I have installed a EBS 12.1 fresh database successfully on Linux redhat 5.3, now our development need a vision database. could i keep the current installation and install vision data into same database? or should i remove the current installation and reinstall a new vision? You cannot install a vision demo database in an existing fresh installation, and you will have to clean your previous installation and do a new vision demo database installation.
Thanks,

Java apps lock up on Windows 7 64 bit
3rd party Java apps and apps I've developed all seemed to be very buggy on one of my 64 bit windows 7 machines with JRE 1.6. I can run them in an XP VM on the same computer with no problems. Some apps lock up immediately and others it's just a matter of time before they lock up. I've searched and searched but haven't seen this issue anywhere else and don't have this problem on my 64 bit Windows 7 machine at home. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? I'm at a loss and since it's my work PC with the problem I have to test Java apps in the XP VM which is a pain.

2.0 App's don't load after a bit, then reboot my iPod
Everything starts ok, I use or load up half a dozen or so apps one after the other, nothing fancy, and they are fine, then I try one more and the splash/loading screen for the app appears as normal but a second or two later the app quits to the homescreen, I try again on any app and the same thing happens, none of the new apps will load now. If I try again and again for about another half dozen tries not only will the app not load but the iPod reboots completely which takes a while.
This stinks, it should not be possible for an app the take down the iPod OS, I thought this was why Apple was doing this through the iTunes store so they could make sure the apps were quality controlled so something, either that or the new 2.0 firmware is to blame, though either way I think a new firmware maybe needed, I don't know, this just shouldn't be possible.
I really don't see what a full restore will do to help this considering that's what it did when it installed this firmware, so I have no idea if I can do anything to help fix this, anyone got any clues?
PS: This guy is having the same problem, though I don't know if he has discovered the rebooting bit as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88E341eKCBQWell, I had a similar problem with my iTouch 32, I uploaded 2.0 early Sat morning, and all was well for a few hours until I loaded apps for the first time. iTouch was slow and some not all apps would crash and revert to home screen. It eventually got to the point that the screen would freeze and become unresponsive until it rebooted itself.
I then attempted to dock to iTunes and wouldn't be recognized. My fix was as follows:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1594547&tstart=0&messageID=758 4586#7584586
See this link, my post is at the end of page 5, just look for my name. However you may want to scroll to the bottom of my post in that thread and try the P.S. option for manual restore first. Quickly docking and undocking can't be very healthy for the device. -
Tip for installing App Dev CD into WLS on 64-bit windows
Hi All,
After pulling out some hair, I thought I'd share this tip.
Scenario:
You are installing WebLogic 10.3.x on a 64-bit Windows platform, but are using a 32-bit JDK. You want to install the Application Development CD so that you can extend your WLS domains with the JRF, EM, etc.
Symptoms:
You run setup.exe, the installer prompts you for a location of a JRE/JDK and you give it the 32-bit JDK location. The installer then quits without so much as a peep.
Solution:
Instead of running setup.exe, navigate to install\win32 and run that setup.exe instead. The same thing works for installing the SOA suite.
Hope this saves someone else some time too.
JohnThanks for the help - I edited the C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\test_domain2\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd file as follows:
@REM set BEA_JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\jrockit_160_24_D1.1.2-4 (I commented out this line)
set BEA_JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24 (I added this line)
set SUN_JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24 (this line was already here)
After confirming ENV's:
Path=C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_24\bin;C:\app\bschamac\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\
JAVA_HOME=C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_24
I then restarted WLS, but the C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.sh still says:
JAVA_HOME="C:/Oracle/Middleware/jrockit_160_24_D1.1.2-4"
SO I think I am still hosed.
