I suspect your metadata is incomplete. Please refer to the bi_checkconfig utility to test your metadata. This can be found on the documentation section of the BI Beans section of OTN:
Displaying Information about your BI Beans Client Configuration using the bi_checkconfig utility
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bib/htdocs/904/tech_notes/bicheckconfig/bi_checkconfig_tn.html
This will allow you to test the structures in your metadata to ensure each object (dimension, cube) can in fact be queried.
Hope this helps

    This is the patch: 2529822
"Best Practices for Tabular Cube Aggregation & Query Operations". Thanks very much for your advice.
I followed the instructions in the document, but it did not seem to make a difference when
trying to follow the tutorial instructions and using the SALES measure.
However, I selected the stock price measures and it worked ok.
Is there a size limit here? I am looking at Oracle OLAP and BIBeans to replace our Cognos installation,
which is expensive and unreliable on unix. Of course our managers and customers want every dimension
across a huge fact table to be available for end users...

Actually I am following the example downloaded from www.iafsoft.com (http://www.iafsoft.com/downloads/index.htm presentation number 32106). The example involves only a one dimensional and one measure simple cube which resides in Analytic Workspace. It was demonstrated in one of the Oracle OpenWorld sessions in SF back in November 02. So I trust that it will work.
    The environment I have is
    Oracle 9.2.0.2.1 (Enterprise Edition)
    JDeveloper 9.0.3
    Windows 2000 (SP2)
    256M memory
(all these run on the same laptop)
In this environment JDeveloper can connect to the database, can access the catalog owned by BIBCAT, can display cubes owned by BIBDEMO, can query data residing in AW through OLAP_TABLE, and can also see the dimension and measure that reside in AW from the presentation wizard. So all this convinces me that installation is ok.
Here's how the error occurs: In the presentation wizard, I select the measure from the left window and move to the right window. I then click the "Next" button to display the layout editor. Then when I click the "Next" button, the wizard won't go to the next step. If I click the "Finish" button instead, the error message will show up.
I am really stumped (for the last several days already) as to w[i]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

    Younés

This error is fired when the code cannot generate SQL for one of the dimensions of a cube. Do you have a dimension without any hierarchies? It may help if you could list each dimension along with its hierarchies and levels.

Action: Check the underlying error stack to find the root cause of the problem.
Essentially, an error is returned from OLAP. The error should be listed further down in the error messages. Most likely there is a problem with your metadata for the dimension you added.

  • Oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: Could not create Java class

    Hi,
Have created a customization in one environment which works just fine. When I deploy it to the next environment I get the error message:
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: Could not create Java class
    Things I have checked:
    1) Imported the personilzations
    2) bounced apache
    3) confirmed the $CLASSPATH
    4) clear the cache
What else can be causing the this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Move the all class files to respective java top. if you moved all class files to java top cross check once.
    Thanks,

  • ADF Faces: !-- ERROR: could not create stylesheet for oracle-desktop.xss

    Hi,
I'm using ADF Faces EA6. Sometimes when I create the EAR, it doesn't include the file "oracle-desktop-ea6-ie-6-windows.css" which muest be present in the "adf/styles/cache" directory. If I check the source code from the browser, it starts like this:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"><html dir="ltr" lang="es-ES">
    <head><title>Sistema de Seguridad</title><meta name="generator" content="Oracle ADF Faces"><!-- ERROR: could not create stylesheet for oracle-desktop.xss --><script type="text/javascript" src="/fmv/adf/jsLibs/Commonea6.js"></script><script type="text/javascript">_defaultTZ()</script></head>
Please note the comment: <!-- ERROR: could not create stylesheet for oracle-desktop.xss -->
    Does somebody know the reason?
    TIA,
    Brian

If everything is set up properly the css will get generated if it doesn't exist. You do not have to be running in the IDE for the css to be correctly generated. Running the app first is generating the css before you deploy, so you've taken away the symptom but not solved the problem. If you try running on another browser, for example, you'll probably run into the same problem.
Does your ear get unzipped when you deploy? Do you have a writable file system for the css to get written to? There is a known issue with WebLogic where it doesn't expand the EAR.
Please check to see if there are errors in the logs.

    Hi everyone,
I am a JDeveloper newbie and got my first taste of it now.
I cannot run my app using the embedded OC4J and so with the app server after deployment (using the end-to-end web app using the default tech scope 9.0.5.1). I am always getting the above subject error. I've seen only around 4 threads in metalink and the answers are not that straightforward.

    Hi!
I'm also a BC4J newbie, and encountered a similar problem while working with JDeveloper 9.0.3.4., but not until the app was deployed to an OAS.
The first time the app was executed was from within the IDE (embedded OC4J) and there was no issue with creating the tables in the state_management schema. However, when the target and state_management schemas were dropped and re-created (to simulate installation on production)and the app was finally deployed to the OAS (10g), the app would fail trying to get nextval from the sequence (in state_management). However, when running again from the embedded OC4J, the sequence and table were created OK. Afterwards, once the sequence and table were created, the OAS instance could process requests fine. One difference in running the two instances is in the login user - the two users that are mapped to the app's security role are different: in the embedded case it's admin/welcome, in the other a plain "jdoe/jdoe" user. I wouldn't think this would matter, as BC4J uses the credentials of the internal connection to access the state_management schema, but if that's not it, then... ?
What credentials would the first app user have to have? The idea of a separate schema for the BC4J tables is that the users don't have to have a create any table/index/sequence privilege... Would you have any thoughts on how to fix the problem?

Sorry for my mistake. Actually, after executing some SQL command, I see that the HR schema already applied into my system. For example:

  • Could not create task file

    We are installing SAP R3 4.7 sr1 on Linux SuSE SLES9, 32/bit.
Problem: During the installation of DI, phase Database Load (Pst Processing), installation stopped , and in the log file said
Could not create task file tmp/sapinst_instdir/.../SAPREPOS.TSK
Anyone with the similar problem? Solution?
    Best regards,

    Hello:
I do not know exactly what of the following elements contributed to fix the problem, but
following is the list of changes we did in a 3rd try to install R/3 on Sun Solaris.
    1.  Get latest SAPINST.
    2.  Use a different installation directory, which is permitted by the use os a new SAPINST.  We used something outside /tmp, which is used by default by the SAPINST that comes with the CDs.
    3.  Delete the whole installation and start again, because by just using SAPINST in the middle of the installation, the problem was not fixed.
    4.  Change the SID from DEN to DE1.
    5.  There was an answer in sdn about the problem telling a linux user to use another environment variable that was for HP-UX, but since it was suggested for them, we took it, just in case. That was also done in the middle of the installation when the problem was happening, but did not fix the problem.
    6. We did not install the oracle patch 9.2.0.7 because the patch is the one that looks for a bunch of sun patches, that although we already had them, since the error we were getting was oracle related, it was decided not to do that for now.
    7.  Smile and go ahead without desperation.
    Regards,
    Juan
