Bind ADF table to EJB method that takes a argument (operation)

Hi Oracles
I can bind a ADF table to a EJB method that takes no arguments, and then JDeveloper calls the method a accessor. I would like to bind another ADF table to another EJB method that takes a argument, but there I have some problems. First of all JDeveloper will not allow this, can I work around that? Then obviously I have to pass the argument to this EJB method some how..?
Do you guys have any way of fixing this? Is the only way to not bind the ADF table, and do it in code in the background, and how do I do this?
Best regards
Søren

Thank you!
I found it, and if I drag it to my JSP, it gives me these options:
- Create Methods
- ADF Link
- ADF Button
- ADF Menu Item
- ADF Toolbar Button
- ADF Image Link
- Create Parameters
- ADF Parameter Form
I have one ADF table that is bound to a data control, and based on the selection on this table, I would like to show data in another table based on a EJB method that takes a id from the selected object from the first table. Either on the same JSP or on another JSP, whatever is easiests.
Can you help me do this? Then I hope I learn something in the process :)
Best regards
Søren

  • How to write a method that takes two arguments of same type

    Hi,
    I seldom do anything "advanced" in generics, but I've done my reading, and thought that I had an understanding of the basics, but I'm stuck on this. How do I write a method that takes two arguments that must be of exact same type.
    I've tried something like:
    public class GenericsTest1 {
        public static <T> void compare(T first, T second) {
    }But the compare method can in this case be called with e.g.
    String arg1 = null;
    Long arg2 = null;
    compare(arg1, arg2);I can restrict the call to something like GenericsTest1.<Long>compare(arg1, arg2), but I don't want to do it in the location that calls the method, and the method can still be invoked with subclasses of the specified type. E.g. this is valid (but I don't want it to be valid):
    Number arg1 = null;
    Long arg2 = null;
    GenericsTest1.<Number>compare(arg1, arg2);So I then changed the method into something like this:
    public class GenericsTest2 {
        public static <T, E extends T> void compare(T first, E second) {
    }It feels like I'm half way there now. Compare can't be called with e.g:
    Long arg1 = null;
    Number arg2 = null;
    compare(arg1, arg2);But this is still valid:
    Number arg1 = null;
    Long arg2 = null;
    compare(arg1, arg2);Hmm... So what to do? I only want the method to be callable when arg1 and arg2 is of exact same type. Everything else should give a compilation error.

    Ps. No, I don't have a need for this, I'm just curious.

    dannyyates wrote:
    I haven't gone through everything you've written, but I would expect that in the first instance, it's inferred <T> to be Object. This is a good reason to parameterise the class rather than the method wherever that makes sense.Thanks for you reply, but as I said this isn't related to anything that I'm going to use. I just want to know if it ca ben done with a static method and generics.

  • How to get selected row from a non-bind ADF table

    Hi,
    I have an ADF table that is based on a collectionModel built programmatically. The collectionModel is this:
    model = new SortableModel(new ArrayList<ArrayList>());
    Hence, it is not a binding table. My question is how to get the selectedRows from a non-bind table.
    I am used to building binding ADF table and I know we can get it from voiterator.getCurrentRow, since the selectionListener is set to the binding....collectionModel.makeCurrent
    <af:table value="#{bindings.ItasLookupTypesVO1.collectionModel}"
    selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.ItasLookupTypesVO1.collectionModel.selectedRow}"
    selectionListener="#{bindings.ItasLookupTypesVO1.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
    </af:table>
    I am thinking maybe I need to write my own selectionListener, but need more advice/ideas of what's the codes in the customer selection Listener to get it from my SortableModel.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    -Mina

    I'm not sure if this works in your case, but check out the selection listener I write in this blog http://wp.me/pcBZk-eu
    You should use the selection event and check the added set. This should give you access to the selected row.

  • How to bind ADF table with a collection of elements using backing bean.

    Hi Experts,
    My JDev version is 11.1.1.6.0.
    I need to bind ADF table with a collection of elements using backing bean.
    My backing bean consists of 6 lists of strings, where each list represents a column of table. How can I populate the entries of table with these lists.
    Thanks
    Gopi

    Hi,
    Create an object representing the row (setter/getter). Then have a list of these objects. Drag and drop the table and point its value to the list and the type to the row object

  • Help with Creating a method that takes a string of arrays?

    i just begin my intro to programming and im a little stuck we had to write a program yesterday and i managed fine then today we had to work with arrays and i dont know much about arrays so im hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. This is what he wants *"Create a method called "printReceipts" that takes a String array of names (first names only) and prints out a message to customers using their name and telling them what customer number they are. The method should work with an array of any size."*
    Im not asking you to do it for me just i gues point out what methods i need to change thanks
    package edu.nmhu.cs245;
    public class Assignment1 {
         private String messagePrefix1 = "Hello ";
         private String messagePrefix2 = ", \n";
         public String[] getName() {
              String[] names = new String[] {"Lonny", "Gil", "Hosein"};
              return names;
         public String getCompleteMessage(String name, String message) {
              String completeMessage = messagePrefix1 + name + messagePrefix2 + message ;
              return completeMessage;
          * @param args
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              Assignment1 a = new Assignment1();
              String[] names = a.getName();
              for (int i = 0; i < names.length; i++) {
                   String printReciepts = a.getCompleteMessage(names,"You are customer number#" +(i+1));
                   System.out.println(printReciepts);
                   System.out.println();

    Focus! You should know what every single line of code is supposed to do! And they should all add up to a larger goal.
    Don't just put in stuff that seems like it's part of a relevant example.
         public String[] getName() {
              String[] names = new String[] {"Lonny", "Gil", "Hosein","Sam"};
              return names;
         }Are you supposed to do it that way? Or did it come with the assignment? It's (probably) fine for a homework assignment, but it's hardcoded data, which in practice one normally doesn't do.
              String completeMessage = messagePrefix1 + names + messagePrefix2 + messageSuffix ;Why do this? You're supposed to produce a receipt per use, not for all users at one.
              for (int i = 0; i < names.length; i++) OK, good. You could have used a foreach loop but this is fine.
                   String printReciepts = a.getCompleteMessage(names,"You are customer number#" +(i+1));What is "getCompleteMessage"?  You didn't define it.  Do you think that it is created implicitly because of the local String variable you created called "completeMessage"?  It doesn't.           String2 a = new String2();Don't call your class "String2".  It doesn't mean anything.  Name it after the assignment or something.           a.printReceipts(names);"names" isn't defined.  There's a local variable called "names" in the getNames method, but it doesn't exist when you call this and it's unavailable anyway.  You probably meant to do           a.printReceipts(a.getName());

    Hi,
    Modify your method to call super.doDML() after initialization of mandatory attributes as below:
    protected void doDML(int operation, TransactionEvent e) {
         oracle.jbo.domain.Date dt = new Date();
         if(operation ==DML_INSERT){
              //PRE-INSERT code begins
           EntityDefImpl cmSubscribers=CmSubscribersImpl.getDefinitionObject();
           CmSubscribersImpl newSubscribers=(CmSubscribersImpl)cmSubscribers.createInstance2(getDBTransaction(),null);
           Number n=new Number(1599);
           newSubscribers.setCreatedBy(n);
           newSubscribers.setCreationDate(dt);
           newSubscribers.setLastUpdateDate(dt);
           newSubscribers.setLastUpdatedBy(n);
           //PRE-INSERT code ends
           super.doDML(operation, e);
           //POST-INSERT code if any
         }else
            super.doDML(operation, e);
    }Sireesha

  • How to Call a method that takes in a parameter from JSF Fragment

    Hi,
    When we want to call the getter method of a backingbean field in a JSF Fragment we merely do a #{bean.fieldName} which will ensure that a getFieldName () will be invoked on the bean....and the value is returned.
    Now Suppose i have a method say
    String method1(String) and i wnt use this method in the JSFF. How woudl i do that because this method is taking a parameter so i cannot do a plain #{bean.fieldName}
    Any ideas
    Thanks
    Karthik

    Hello Karthik,
    You can achieve it using an EL hack. If the managed bean implements map, then an expression like #{bean[myParameter]} will call bean.get(myParameter) and you can then redispatch to your other method.

  • Re: EJB Control not working with methods that contain arguments

    John,
    I'm not qualified to answer your EJB control question, but before you
    become too disillusioned with page flows I'd like to mention that the
    request scoped data form and and the return-to="page" issues you
    mentioned have been addressed for the next service pack. We've
    introduced the ability to specify a page flow scoped form bean which
    lives for the life of the page flow, and we've clarified the return-to
    values to include both "currentPage" and "previousPage" which should
    clarify the expected behavior.
    I hope you give it a try.

    How to add a new row programitically to this adf table.
    I dragged and dropped 'Create' from operations menu on to jsp.
    But on click of that.no new row is being added to the current table.
    On click of a button in u.i I want to add a new row to the table.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    Hi,
    The source code is as below.
    <af:table value="#{bindings.students.collectionModel}" var="row"
    rows="#{bindings.students.rangeSize}"
    emptyText="#{bindings.students.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}"
    fetchSize="#{bindings.students.rangeSize}"
    rowBandingInterval="0"
    filterModel="#{bindings.rscGroupsQuery.queryDescriptor}"
    queryListener="#{bindings.rscGroupsQuery.processQuery}"
    filterVisible="true" varStatus="vs"
    selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.rscGroups.collectionModel.selectedRow}"
    selectionListener="#{bindings.rscGroups.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
    rowSelection="single" id="t1"/>
    <af:commandButton actionListener="#{bindings.Create.execute}"
    text="Create" disabled="#{!bindings.Create.enabled}"
    id="cb1" partialTriggers="t1"/>
    Please let me know where am I doing wrong?
    On click of this button,it is not adding a row dynamically.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

  • ADF Table: LOV Iterator Issue

    I have an editable ADF Table, with a column that contains an LOV (Select One Choice). This LOV gets it's data from another View Object. We have an LOV Maintenance screen that populates the LOV's View Object with data.
    My problem is when you insert new data into the LOV's View Object, then go to the Editable ADF Table which contains the LOV Column, the new LOV Data does not show up in the Select One Choice. However, if I open up a new browser window and open the application, I see the new LOV data. Also the new LOV Data shows in the database. This is telling me the LOV's iterator is not updating properly.
    However, since i have an ADF Table, the LOV along with all other columns are bunched into a Tree Binding and respectively the ADF Table's Iterator (In the page bindings). Thus I don't know how i can directly access the LOV's iterator and refresh it.
    How do I refresh the LOV iterator?
    Currently we're on ADF 11.1.1.3.

    Another Edit:
    Okay I got this workaround functioning properly... It was a combination of settings that need to occur. I'm not crazy about it because it seems inefficient -  but it works.
    1.) I exposed the View Row Imp Class of my ADF Edit Table View Object (and Included Accessors). Included Accessors so I had programatic access to my LOV's View Accessors. I had two Accesors so i could have a switching LOV on my LOV Attribute.
    2.) Then in the RowImpl class, I went to the LOV Accessor getter methods, i did this below, so we refresh the View Accessor.
         * Gets the view accessor <code>RowSet</code> ActiveSmsModules.
        public RowSet getActiveSmsModules() {
          RowSet rs = (RowSet)getAttributeInternal(ACTIVESMSMODULES);
          rs.executeQuery();
          return rs;
            //return (RowSet)getAttributeInternal(ACTIVESMSMODULES);
         * Gets the view accessor <code>RowSet</code> AllSmsModules.
        public RowSet getAllSmsModules() {
          RowSet rs = (RowSet)getAttributeInternal(ALLSMSMODULES);
          rs.executeQuery();
          return rs;
            //return (RowSet)getAttributeInternal(ALLSMSMODULES);
    3.): After that, I had to go to my ADF Edit Table's Iterator (In the bindings), set Refresh to Always. I'm not sure why but it didnt work without this setting.
    4.) Then in my ADF Page Backing Bean, which holds the ADF Editable Table, i had to run this code once when the ADF Table gets rendered. Basically, re-execute the ADF Edit Table's iterator query. Then refresh the LOV UI Component. The LOV object was bound with a getter and setter in my backing bean.
            BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
            DCIteratorBinding iterator = (DCIteratorBinding)bindings.get("UnvPracSmtView1Iterator");
            iterator.executeQuery();
            AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(getSmtSmsCode());
    It would be easier to be able to simply access the LOV's iterator through the ADF Table's Tree Bindings, but there doesn't seem to be a straight forward way to do this. If anyone has any other solution to this, please let me know!

  • How to create multiple new rows in ADF Table?

    Hello,
    being new to ADF Faces/BC I managed to display data in an ADF Table and create new entries using the "CreateInsert" operation (one at a time).
    Now, the next task is to create multiple new rows at the same time, set some default values and display the new rows in the ADF table. Then the user will enter additional data and commit the new rows.
    Where do I step in? In the EntitiyImpl? Can this be handled declaratively or do I have to implement custom method(s) in the AM?
    Thanks

    Or use inlined iterators to layout the dataonly issue with pivot table is it doesn't display header for left columns unless u take ur cursor there.
    tree table is completely different kind of view - imo.
    didn't get much help on inlined iterators - can u plz post more details on this?
    thanks.

  • Unable to capture the adf table column sort icons using open script tool

    Hi All,
    I am new to OATS and I am trying to create script for testing ADF application using open script tool. I face issues in recording two events.
    1. I am unable to record the event of clicking adf table column sort icons that exist on the column header. I tried to use the capture tool, but that couldn't help me.
    2. The second issue is I am unable to capture the panel header text. The component can be identified but I was not able to identify the supporting attribute for the header text.

  • How can I implement a get method that lets me divide two values, Help plz

    I need to implement a method that divides the values return by two other methods but I keep getting an error message, I think its divide by zero error ( I am not too sure on the exact error msg as I do not have java installed on this pc as yet), here is my example,
    I have two get methods that take an int value so say
    getValueOne() as method one
    getValueTwo() as method two
    Now I have a third method that does the following,
    Public int getValueThree() {
    int value =0;
    value = (getValueOne() / getValueTwo())
    return value;
    I am not two sure on the exact code but it does something like this and I get an error. Could someone please guide me how I can successfully implement a get method that divides two values that are returned by two methods.
    Thanks,
    Zub

    Hi, thanks for your reply. Right, how can I go about to throw an exception? I can definitely give the exact code and error message tomorrow when I can access my home pc.
    And you are right there are some values that are zero! I am not very sure what throwing an exception means to be honest. Could you please give an example?
    Thanks...
