Binding ArrayCollection to HTTPService method="POST" xml result

Hi All,
Firstly apologies for posting all this code!
I have the following app that adds & displays in a
datagrid the data from a mysql db, works fine so far.
#########################<START
SNIP>##########################

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns="*" layout="absolute"
backgroundGradientColors="[#0080ff,#80ffff]"
creationComplete="send_data()">

<mx:Script>

private function youveClicked():void {
mx.controls.Alert.show('You Clicked!!!');
private function send_data():void {
staffcodeRequest.send();

</mx:Script>

<mx:HTTPService id="staffcodeRequest" url="
http://192.168.0.84/amfphp/services/staffcode.php"
useProxy="false" method="POST">
<mx:request xmlns="">
<firstname>{firstname.text}</firstname><surname>{surname.text}</surname><staffcode>{staff code.text}</staffcode><emailaddress>{emailaddress.text}</emailaddress><department>{departm ent.text}</department>
</mx:request>
</mx:HTTPService>
###########################<END
SNIP>##########################
I'm thinking of Binding the the xml formated results into an
arrayCollection & then use the filterFunction to allow a user
to filter the data (is this possible?).
(Below is some code that I found in a thread & am using
to work from as an example)
#########################<START
SNIP>##########################
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="vertical" creationComplete="initData()">
<mx:Script>

import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
[Bindable]
private var dataList:ArrayCollection ;
private function initData():void{
dataList= new ArrayCollection([
{name:"school A", city:"Dartford"},
{name:"school B", city:"Pomona "},
{name:"School C", city:"Phillipsburg"}
private function filterDemo():void{
dataList.filterFunction = searchDemo;
dataList.refresh();
private function searchDemo(item:Object):Boolean{
var isMatch:Boolean = false
if(item.name.toLowerCase().search(search.text.toLowerCase())
!= -1){
isMatch = true
return isMatch;
private function clearSearch():void{
dataList.filterFunction = null;
dataList.refresh();
search.text = '';

</mx:Script>
###########################<END
SNIP>##########################
If it is possible, I need some help in integrating the
following code, (I've tried but keep getting {1151: A conflict
exists with definition staffcodeRequest in namespace internal.})
#########################<START
SNIP>##########################

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="

xmlns="*" layout="absolute"
backgroundGradientColors="[#0080ff,#80ffff]"
creationComplete="send_data()">

<mx:Script>

private function youveClicked():void {
mx.controls.Alert.show('You Clicked!!!');
private function send_data():void {
staffcodeRequest.send();

import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
[Bindable]
private var staffcodeRequest:ArrayCollection;
private function filterDemo():void{
staffcodeRequest.filterFunction = searchDemo;
staffcodeRequest.refresh();
private function searchDemo(item:Object):Boolean{
var isMatch:Boolean = false
if(item.staffcode.toLowerCase().search(search.text.toLowerCase())
!= -1){
isMatch = true}
return isMatch;
private function clearSearch():void{
staffcodeRequest.filterFunction = null;
staffcodeRequest.refresh();
search.text = '';

</mx:Script>

</mx:request>
</mx:HTTPService>
###########################<END
SNIP>##########################
What I am strugling with is BINDING the returned xml formated
results to an arrayCollection, and changing from the static xml
file example to mxl formated txt received from the mysql db on the
fly.
Help would be grate ;-)
TIA
Danny

From what I've read, it seems that a Proxy Server, such as
BlazeDS or FDS, is required if you want to use anything other than
GET or POST and set the useProxy property to true.
What is the motivation of requiring a proxy server to support
HTTP PUT or DELETE?

• How to use method POST to send XML using utl_http?

Hi,
I am trying to work out how to use the POST method to mimic submitting data from a HTML form, using utl_http.
I cannot use SOAP for this as the people I am sending the data to are just expecting an XML document to be sent to a standard CGI script running on their web server.
There is a lot of documentation on how to submit data using the POST method (using Utl_Http.Write_Text etc), but I cannot find anything that tells me how to submit form variables.
The examples on OTN say this:
"Alternatively use method => 'POST' and Utl_Http.Write_Text to
build an arbitrarily long message"
but don't tell me how to actually place the data into the required input parameters of the CGI program I am hitting.
I need to hit a URL such as
www.asite.com/cgiprogram
and pass in a parameter, eg
in_param="test+data"
I am currently doing this as a GET, which works, but the XML document I am passing in could potentially be bigger than the GET method will allow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Leon.

• Error when reading data in to ArrayCollection using HTTPService

Hi,
I am trying to read data in to ArrayCollection using HTTPService result property:
[Bindable] private var myData:ArrayCollection=new ArrayCollection();
private function result_handler(e:ResultEvent):void
myData = e.result.root.contact;
<mx:HTTPService id="post_submit"
url="test.php"
method="POST"
result="result_handler(event)"
fault="fault_handler(event)">
<mx:request xmlns="">
</mx:request>
</mx:HTTPService>
I am getting the following error when there is no "contact" record in the xml root:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
Also I am getting the following error when there is only ONE "contact" record in the xml root:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert mx.utils::ObjectProxy@280c9ca1 to mx.collections.ArrayCollection.
And it works fine when there is two or more "contact" records in the xml root.
Am I missing something?
Thanks

I am getting the following error when there is no "contact" record in the xml root:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
You'll be getting this error because it's trying to access nodes that don't exist;
there are no 'contact' records, thus when it tries to access node 'root.contact', it doesn't exist, hence it's receiving NULL when it's expecting something
Also I am getting the following error when there is only ONE "contact" record in the xml root:TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert mx.utils::ObjectProxy@280c9ca1 to mx.collections.ArrayCollection.
And it works fine when there is two or more "contact" records in the xml root.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
When there is only 1 value, it'll be returned as an object (Arrays are used for multiple items). So it throws an error as it isn't expecting a single object, it wants an Array.
This is also why when it returns 2+ records, there is no error. Multiple results will be returned as an Array, what your flex app was expecting.
My initial guess to solve the first problem would be similar to Greg's, although i'm guessing you'd want;
if(e.result != null){
instead of
if(e.result.root.contact != null){
as you'd initially want to check if anything was returned in the result, rather than checking to see if a certain node exists.
If you attempt to see if a certain node isn't null, and the node doesn't exist, it'll probably throw another #1009
For the #1034 error, you'll have to check to see how many results were returned, as Madhav has described for you.

• Posting XML via HTTP post returns "Envelope missing in SOAP message header"

Hi,
I am trying to post a simple XML message directly to the integration server using an html document, where the form that contains the XML message is a simple

So, I add my xml message like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">
<ns:PlantMaintenanceMessageType xmlns:ns="http://sap.com/demo/plantmaintenance">
<EquipmentID>SLIEQUIP5</EquipmentID>
<FunctionalLocation>KB</FunctionalLocation>
<Date/>

</ns:PlantMaintenanceMessageType>
but I get a message back from the Integration Server as:
<SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
<SAP:Category>XIProtocol</SAP:Category>

<SAP:AdditionalText />
<SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
<SAP:Stack>XML tag Envelope missing in SOAP message header (SAP XI Extension)</SAP:Stack>
</SAP:Error>
Seems like I am missing the Envelope so my Integration Server can understand my post. What does the Envelope look like or should conatain so that the Integration Server accepts my XML file ?
Thanks !

• HTTPService Request w/XML

I am getting insanely frustrated over this.
I keep getting an error from the server saying wrong_node,
and I noticed after sniffing the HTTP post the xml is out of order
then what I have written here:
quote:
<mx:HTTPService id="shareRequest" resultFormat="e4x" url="
http://box.net/api/1.0/xml"
useProxy="false" method="POST" contentType="application/xml">
<mx:request xmlns="">
<request>
<action>public_share</action>
<api_key>v6gf5ghjppgc24n6gr</api_key>
<auth_token>ghhgn556df4s</auth_token>
<target>file</target>
<target_id>{idtxt.text}</target_id>
<password>{passwordtxt.text}</password>
<message></message><emails></emails>
</request>
</mx:request>
</mx:HTTPService>
And heres what it sends:
quote:
<request><action>public_share</action><api_key>v6mx99comslgqjth5ujb1jppgc24n6gr</api_key> <auth_token>e0903lezcyy4xetzl0772ose0drl2afs</auth_token><emails
/><message
/><password>fgg</password><target>file</target><target_id>71407783</target_id></request>
Its posting in alphabetical order and this looks like its
unacceptable to the server. Is there any way I can get around this
and get it to post in the order I want? Id really appriciate any
help.

Are you sure it is the order that the server is having
difficulty with? I would not expect that, and have not seen it with
any web server platforums I have worked with. The name=value pair
structure should make this moot. Oh, wait, i see you have changed
the contentType. I know some folks have had trouble with that. I
send my xml as strings in a normal name=value parameter.

• Error while posting xml file to URL using URLConnection

Hello everyone,
I am facing an issue from long time related to URLConnection. If this would be resolved by your help then I would be very grateful to you.
One application which posts xml file to URL hangs and after waiting for 5 mins it throws 504 error:
java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 504 for URL: http:hostname.
at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(HttpURLConnection.java:715)
Same application is running fine without error on another environment from last 5 years. But on another env it is erroring out from the day 1.
We have many workarounds in place none worked.
I tried to use HttpClient from apache but that too hanged at URLConnection.getInputStream() method call.
App is running on iPlanet web server 6.1 using JDK 1.4.0_03
We still dont know why this program hangs at that particular line in only one env but many times it runs fine. That means 30% of the times it posts xml file without error but 70% times it errors out. So our program logic is to retry until post is successful.
Once this issue is resolved we will remove the logic of trying again and agian.
Please provide inputs.
Thanks,
Nitin

The HTTP response 504 means that the server, acting as a gateway, has not received a response from an upstream server in the time it expected.
I think this is problem is due to the remote server that receives the XML and takes too long to return a response to the local application that posted the XML.
Try HttpClient and set the timeout variable of the HttpClient instance used.
Here http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/jakarta/commons/proper/httpclient/trunk/src/examples/PostXML.java?revision=480424&view=markup
a Post XML sample.
NB: HttpClient > setTimeout method is deprecated. See : http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/apidocs/index.html for an alternative
Hope That Helps

• Post XML over HTTPS in a loop

HI,
I have a requirement to post XMLs over HTTPS. I also am supposed to retrieve the response XML, interpret it and do some processing based on the response status in the response XML. This has to be done for each XML.
Currently I am establishing a new HTTPsURLConnection for each XML, wrting the XML to output stream, retrieving the response from input stream and then releasing the connection using disconnect() method.
Is this the recommended approach or should I be creating just one connection for posting all the XMLs? Also, does java use some kind of connection pooling while creating HTTPURLConnection?
I am frequently getting "SocketTimeoutException Exception --> connect timed out" while processing large number of XMLs. Is this exception due to large number of connections that I am creating?
This program is running as a stand alone program on unix box.
Regards,
Jacob

• Error: while trying to invoke the method javax.xml.transform.Transformer.

Hi All,
I am working on Version 12.1.8 Build(20), I have referred SAP notes 1294013 and placed the following files
- serializer.jar
- xalan.jar
- xercesImpl.jar
- xml-apis.jar
- xsltc.jar
in the specified path.
now when i use XSLT transformation block using IllumRowsetTableWithPageBreaks.xsl i am getting an error
[ERROR] [XSL_Transformation_0]XSLTransform error: while trying to invoke the method javax.xml.transform.Transformer.transform(javax.xml.transform.Source, javax.xml.transform.Result) of an object loaded from local variable 'processor'
please guide me.

Hi Alex,
No, the case you have explained is not applicable to me. Sharing the code snippet for your reference. This is the code due to which my XSLT gives an error, if I remove these lines of code then the XSLT works fine.
<xsl:variable name="ENERGY" select="translate(ENERGY,',','')">
<xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test="ENERGY= ''">
<xsl:value-of select="0.00"/>
</xsl:when>
<xsl:otherwise>
<xsl:value-of select="ENERGY"/>
</xsl:otherwise>
</xsl:choose>
</xsl:variable>
Also, the same XSLT works absolutely fine in 12.1 but gives error in 14.0 SP05.
Warm Regards,

• Method Post

Hi to evrtybody, I'm new here.
I have a problem with method post:
I have a webapp that shows filter and report pages, I generate it with XHTML, through my Servlet.
For example when I get back at previous page, from my report page; that one results expired; so I have to refresh it.
I don't think that the problem consists in the set filter datas again, but probably in some browser configuration.
I'm sure to find many answers and to improve my java knowledge.
Thanks in advance.

Usually, with content returned to the user's browser with the POST method, this occurs regularly. It would be asking too much to consider a scheme where the objects that you need information from (such as the objects used to create your dynamic XHTML stuff in the servlet) be available in a greater web application context, such as the user's session or even the application context. If, for example, you used Struts as your framework, you would be much better off.

• Using UTL_TCP to post xml

All,
we were using UTL_HTTP for XML post and retrieve result. It kept running into transfer_timeout trouble (oracle 9.2.*)
So now we are trying to use UTL_TCP to post xml.
But I am not sure how the sequence will be.
I woulc apppreciate if you guys could point me to the right place. All the samples I saw so far are for email or ftp.
Thanks.
Steve
Steve

UTL_HTTP uses UTL_TCP underneath so using UTL_TCP yourself possibly won't solve the problem. One common reason of transfer-timeout exception is that the length of the POST data is not specified or is incorrect in the content-length header, causing the HTTP server to keep waiting to read more from your side but you have posted the whole data.
Can you post your codes that use UTL_HTTP here (if possible) and let us take a look?

• NavigateToURL where URLRequest method = POST always defaults to GET

Hi there
I'm trying to invoke a PHP URL using the HTTP POST method combined with parameters to pass to a form. The test app is an AIR application as per the code below. Whilst the default browser is launched with the URL specified, my issue is that the method used at runtime is always HTTP GET not POST. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'd be really grateful if somebody could review and point out my mistake!
Many thanks

• How to post xml - request in mapviewer

Hello,
i want to make a web page that will post xml - requests in mapviewer.
How can i send a xml request in mapviwer from a web page?

Does the mapviewer welcome do what you need?
That is index.html in oc4jhome/j2ee/home/applications/mapviewer/web/
If it does then , use the same method to submit a form using HTTP POST to
the mapviewer servlet.
It's also documented in Ch 3 of the the user guide.
"A request to the OracleAS MapViewer servlet has the following format:
http://hostname[:port]/MapViewer-servlet-path?xml_request=xml-request

• How to return two XML result sets using the function

Hi Experts,
Thanks.

So that I want to return two XML result sets if the query returns more than 50,000 records.
One XML result set with 50,000 and another XML result set with remaining records.
How to incorporate this in my function.
Have the function return a collection of CLOB then.
DBMS_XMLGEN can handle pagination so it's easy to adapt your existing code.
Here's an example fetching data in batches of max. 3 rows each, using a pipelined function :
SQL> create or replace type clob_array is table of clob;

• OAM - Method POST Not Allowed

Hi,
I have OAM setup with WebLogic Server using OHS as a Webserver. I am not complete yet but just to check I have created a sample login page which will be prompted (Or user wil be redirected) when I will try to access a resource (WebPage) hosted on WLS. I have created this page in 'Orahome_2/Apache/htdocs/login.html'. I can access this page manually on 'http://IP_ADDRESS:PORT/login.html' as following;

document.forms[0].submit();

What could be the possible reason???

Edited by: Sheeraz Junejo on 05-Oct-2009 13:30

Hi Miller,
I am using '/webgateaccess/oblix' because there is already an alias which is pointing towards access server installation directory and it was completely failing by giving an error message that 'File not found on server' and there was no file even directory called webgate inside access server installation. So I declare one more alai called webgateaccess/oblix and point it towards the 'Webgate/access/oblix' which has 'apps/common/webgate/bin/webgate.dll' file and that what we are lokkiing for is it???
Yes at this point both of my defaul Policy domains were not enabled so I enabled it but its still giving me the same error message. could you please post a link for Form based authentication tips.
Finally, I was searching and had this comment that this error can be ommit out by providing a +Execcgi rights to this directory or file explicitly using following xml (Something like);
<Location /webgateaccess/oblix/apps/common/webgate/bin>
Options +Execgi
Order Allow,deny
Allow from all
</Location>
Is it???
Thanks,
Sjunejo
