Binding model attributes disables UI elements

Hi ,
  I have created a model. and did bind its attributes to the UI elements. RFC is working fine.
But in the runtime all UI elements are disabled bydefault when i bind these to the model attributes but to the same UI element if i bind it to the local attribute its working fine...
I have tried reimpor and recreating model , and also changing the cardinality but not working...
Would not it be possible to bind UI elements to model attributes ?  By using model attributes how the UI elements can be enabled ?
Please help me out...
Regards
Sireesha.

hi,
this occurs becoz u would have bound the i/p element to a model attibute whose value is null.
to solve dis,
1)create a context attribute in ur view
2)bind  the i/p elements to that context attr
3)while executing the rfc , get the value of this context attr and set it to the model attr.
for example if u have a model attr 'name_mo ' which u have to bind to the i/p field element
create a context attr -
name_vn
bind name_vn to the i/p field element
while executind ur rfc,
Test_Input ip = new Test_Input();
ip.setName_mo(wdContext.currentContextElement().getName_vn());
Test_Input is the name of the model node that is bound from model to the view via comp.ctller

    i have to Ui element Drop down by index to which i have binded model attribute for populating the values, now i want to add a customized value to it like "choose all".
    how can i do this ??

    Create a value node similar to model node. In value node you can add element at the index wherever you want to:
    wdContext.node<nodename>().addElement(<index>,<element>);

  • How to bind the attribute in the context to a dynamic created element?

    Hi, experts,
    There are some attributes in the node context(ee_node) that contained the attribute named "ANSSA" in the view(test_view) in the WDA for abap. In the method modifyview of the view(there is a transfered parameter that represent the name of "ANSSA")
    I want to create a dynamic element(inputfield) in the test_view. The element need bind the context attribute (ANSSA).Through the transfered parameter(para), I only know the name of the attribute binded.
    How can I bind the attribute of the context in the following code?
    METHOD modifyview .
    *importing para type string.
    *importing m_view type ref to  if_wd_view.
    data wd_inputfield type ref to cl_wd_input_field.
    create one element automatically in the view.
      wd_inputfield = CL_WD_INPUT_FIELD=>NEW_INPUT_FIELD(
                                        view = m_view
                                        id = para
                                        BIND_VALUE = ???
    ENDMETHOD.
    I don't know how to replace the "???" in the method modifyview? Do you give me some hint for it?
    You can reply back to me via e-mail if you think we should discuss this internally at [email protected] or [email protected]

  • DropDownByKey UI Element and Model Attribute

    Hi
      The DropDownByKey UI Element can be linked to value attribute, which are simple types.
    Now if i try to link them to model attribute which are simple types pertaining to some model classes, its not happening.
    so my question is how to attach any DropDownByKey UI Element with Model attribute which will get data from model to which it is attached?
    thanks
    Srikant

    D.V.,
    Whether or not DDK (DropDownByKey) works with model attribute depends on type of attribute (actually, type of model class property that stays behind this attribute)
    If the type contains enumeration itself then DDK works.
    So, you have the following options (dynamically populating values set will not work here):
    1. Alter type on back-end to include enumeration
    2. Use DDI (DropDownByIndex) as suggested here
    3. Create sub-node with cardinality 1..1 (better keep singleton false), then add value attribute with the same basic type (string, int etc) and set it flag calculated to true. WD will generate getter / setter for this attribute -- just return / set original model attribute in this method. Next:
    3.a Either create new simple DDIC type for calculated attribute and define enumeration here
    3.b Or modify SVS of calculated attribute at run-time as suggested in this thread

  • On basis of drop down by key values i want to enable and disable ui elements is wda

    How to enable and disable ui elements on basis of drop down by key values as i show in screen shot i have 3 values in drop down by key on basis of those values i need to enable and disable ui elements in webdynpro abap kindly reply back

    Hi Sreedhara,
    There are many tutorials on SCN for learning Web Dynpro ABAP. If the following steps don't make sense to you, please do a search for some tutorials and read through the tutorial materials. Hopefully the tutorials will help you to become familiar with some of the basics of Web Dynpro ABAP.
    Here is how to enable or disable a UI element upon selection from a DropDownByKey.
    In your view context, create a context attribute of type wdy_boolean. For now, let's call this attribute IS_ENABLED
    In your view layout, bind the enabled property of the UI element to the context attribute IS_ENABLED.
    In your view actions, create an action-- let's call it SET_ENABLED-- and bind this action to the DropDownByKey element's onSelect event in the view layout.
    In the event handler method for the SET_ENABLED action, use the Code Wizard to read the value of the DropDownByKey selected value, then use the Code Wizard again to set the value of context attribute IS_ENABLED to either true or false.
    Now when a value is selected from the DropDownByKey, the SET_ENABLED action will be triggered and the IS_ENABLED context attribute will be set to either true or false. Since your UI element's enabled property is bound to this true or false value via the context binding, the UI element will change to enabled or disabled.
    Good luck!
    Cheers,

  • Schema Validation on attributes of an element in XML againt XSD schema

    Hi,
    I had generated artifact java classes from XSD schema file.Now i am validatiing one sample XML document by using these classes in JAXB.The XML document is validated successfully.but only elements are validated ,but not attributes of that elements.for example ,i am giving wrong element which is not defined inside the schema file,it throws validation error as expected ,whereas validation against wrong attributes of elements in XML it is not working anyway,it does not throw any validation errors,but it should throw validation errors.kindly help me to solve this issue.
    Here The sample validation code snippets :
    import javax.xml.bind.ValidationEvent;
    import javax.xml.bind.ValidationEventHandler;
    import javax.xml.bind.ValidationEventLocator;
    public class MyEventHandler implements ValidationEventHandler{
         public boolean handleEvent(ValidationEvent ve) {
              if (ve.getSeverity()==ValidationEvent.FATAL_ERROR ||
                        ve .getSeverity()==ValidationEvent.ERROR){
                   ValidationEventLocator locator = ve.getLocator();
                   //Print message from valdation event
                   System.out.println("Invalid booking document: "
                             + locator.getURL());
                   System.out.println("Error: " + ve.getMessage());
                   //Output line and column number
                   System.out.println("Error at column " +
                             locator.getColumnNumber() +
                             ", line "
                             + locator.getLineNumber());
              return true;
    Unmarshaller unmarshaller = jc.createUnmarshaller();
    unmarshaller.setEventHandler(new MyEventHandler());

    Here is my analagous 'strange' behavior. I am jaxb processing and then marshalling generated classes to XML ( following the simple Sun 'PurchaseOrder' example )
    1. This works:
    <xsd:schema....>
    <xsd:complextType name = "myName">
    <xsd:attribute name='name1'>
    </xsd:complextType>
    </xsd:schema>
    2. This doesn't:
    <xsd:schema....>
    <xsd:complextType name = "myName">
    <xsd:attribute name='name1'/>
    <xsd:attribute name='name2'/>
    </xsd:complextType>
    </xsd:schema>
    That is, using more than one attribute line within this simple complex type causes nothing to be marshalled to XML.
    Ideas?

  • Dynamic Node bind to attribute of type "STRING_TABLE"

    Hi ,
    I want to create dynamic node which is bind to attribute of type "STRING_TABLE'.
    Basically I want to create this node for inserting dynamic "TEXT EDIT' UI elements in my view .
    can sm1 help me in this regard.

    Seems like you should be able to use the API: cl_wd_dynamic_tool=>create_nodeinfo_from_struct.
    The real question is do you really need to create the node dynamically.  Why not just create a node that has the string_table attribute in it. Make the node 1:n or 0:n.  Bind this node to a RowReapter or MultiPane UI element.  Then as a child of the RowReapter/MultiPane you place your textEdit UI element.  This way, you will render dynamically how ever many textEdits as there are elements in your node.  No need for dynamic node creation.

  • JavaScript for disabling htmlb elements

    Hello,
    in my bsp application i want to change the attribute disabled of htmlb:inputfields and htmlb:dropdownlistbox. I used following javascript:
    document.getElementById('controllerID_inputfieldID').disabled = 'true';
    document.getElementById('controllerID_inputfieldID').disabled = '';
    This isn't work right, because the disabled is displayed other than I set disabled in the htmlb tag (<htmlb:inputField id = "inputfieldID" disabled = "true") and I can choice a element in the dropdownlist.
    What is the correct javascript function for disabling htmlb elements?
    Tina

    I believe that the following will work for you, although I must caution that it is not likely supported by SAP. Any service pack upgrade or patch may break this code. Use at your own caution.
    This is from a function that can disable or enable different objects using Javascript. Setting the st attribute seems to be what it takes to make it readOnly. Setting the class just applies the disabled look.
          case "DROPDOWN":
            switch(mode)
              case "DISABLED":
                window.document.getElementById(ID).st = "r";
               window.document.getElementById(ID).className = "urCoB2TxtDdl urCoB2Ro";
                break;
             case "ENABLED":
                window.document.getElementById(ID).st = "";
                window.document.getElementById(ID).className = "urCoB2TxtDdl";
               break;
           break;

  • Setting "model" attribute from java

    Hi!
    I want to write this uix code in java:
    <                                                  <table model="${bindings.DepartmentsView1}">
                                                           <contents>
                                       <column>
                                                                     <columnHeader>ss
                                                                     </columnHeader>
                                                                     <contents>
                                                                          <textInput>

    Can anybody tell me what should i write here?
                   table.setAttributeValue(table.MODEL_ATTR,???);
    ??? = ${bindings.DepartmentsView1}
    Thanx in advance: Gabor Nyerges

    setting the model attribute in java is not supported.
    The model attribute is a parse time property. At parse time it is resolved to individually bind the "real" properties.

  • Difference among Model node creation, model attribute creation and the field creation in database through AET?

    Hello Friends,
    To display the field on the View, we can create the field via 3 ways:
    1) By creating the model attribute
    2) By creating the model node using the GENIL object and using its attributes in view
    3) Creating the field in Database structure using AET
    But, i am not aware that in exactly what kind of business scenarios we use the above 3 methods to create the field.
    Could you help me out to clarify the same.

    Hi Dev,
    1). By creating the model attribute: we will use this option in case of the field is avaibla in stanadrd sap system. It might be in another under child context nodes and we will use BOL relations to access the attribute.
    2).  By creating the model node using the GENIL object and using its attributes in view: We will use this option incase of there is no standard provision to use. Means you want to create any custom assignment block with custom attributes then you can go for this option. More over we can use AET to create custom genil object. We have an option Create Table in AET.
    3).Creating the field in Database structure using AET: We will use this option incase of there is no attribute in database relevant to your requirement then we will go for AET enhancement.
    Hope this might give you little clarification..

  • Howto optionally include an attribute on an element in a JSP document ?

    I cannot find a way to optionally include an attribute on an element in a JSP document (JSPX). My JSP document is used to create an XML according to an XML schema where some element are declared as optional by the schema (default for element attributes).
    I've tried:
    a)
    <elem <c:if test="${!empty obj.attr}">attr=${obj.attr}</c:if>>
    </elem>b)
    <jsp:element name="elem">
       <c:if test="${!empty obj.attr}">
          <jsp:attribute name="attr">${obj.attr}</jsp:attribute>
       </c:if>
       <jsp:body>
       </jsp:body>
    </jsp:element>And none of them work. Any ideas?

  • Problem when mapping  model attribute to dropdownbyindex

    HI
    I am mapping model attribute ( this is mapped to Model field of RFC ) to DropDownbyIndex.
    Once i call BAPI the executed list of values populates into dropdown but it doesn't show first value, instead it puts one extra space in dropdown ( 1 blank by default + 1), when we try to select this blank value it gives error.
    Pl help me solving this issue
    Thanks!

    Hi Ravindra,
    It might be write the all code in BAPI side only.
    After writing the bapi code u can retrive thru only DropdownbyIndex.
    What ever u created means Cusomecontroller or component controller in init() method u created BAPI instance and send input to the BAPI.
    When you setting the paramaeters in init() megtod
    U can do like this.
    bapi input = nwe bapi();
    input.setparametername("firstparameter displaying onthedropdownbox");
    for example
    input.setDoc_type("orders");
    add like this.
    Hope this will help

  • XML attributes instead of elements in data contract serialisation in Rest WCF implementation

    I want to uses XML attributes instead of elements, I implemented IXmlSerializable and
    public partial class Id : IXmlSerializable {
    /// <remarks/>
    [XmlAttribute]
    public string lmsId;
    /// <remarks/>
    [XmlAttribute]
    public string unitId;
    /// <remarks/>
    [XmlAttribute]
    public string lmsPresId;
    /// <remarks/>
    [XmlAttribute]
    public string callId;
    public System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchema GetSchema()
    return null;
    public void ReadXml(System.Xml.XmlReader reader)
    //implement if remote callers are going to pass your object in
    public void WriteXml(System.Xml.XmlWriter writer)
    writer.WriteAttributeString("lmsId", lmsId.ToString());
    writer.WriteAttributeString("unitId", unitId.ToString());
    writer.WriteAttributeString("lmsPresId", lmsPresId.ToString());
    writer.WriteAttributeString("callId", callId.ToString());
    But my service help is showing request and response as unknown
    I tried even XmlSerializerFormat public partial class Id : IXmlSerializable {
    /// <remarks/>
    [XmlAttribute]
    public string lmsId;
    /// <remarks/>
    [XmlAttribute]
    public string unitId;
    /// <remarks/>
    [XmlAttribute]
    public string lmsPresId;
    /// <remarks/>
    [XmlAttribute]
    public string callId;
    public System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchema GetSchema()
    return null;
    public void ReadXml(System.Xml.XmlReader reader)
    //implement if remote callers are going to pass your object in
    public void WriteXml(System.Xml.XmlWriter writer)
    writer.WriteAttributeString("lmsId", lmsId.ToString());
    writer.WriteAttributeString("unitId", unitId.ToString());
    writer.WriteAttributeString("lmsPresId", lmsPresId.ToString());
    writer.WriteAttributeString("callId", callId.ToString());
    then I am getting everything in the xml as xmlElements instead of XmlAttributes But I am getting all the data as elements instead of Xmlattributes

    I will test it.
    I sale myself ONLY half CNY!
