Bindings problem (EJB3 - ADF  Faces)

Hi Forum,
I have a static fieald in a entityBean (EJB3) with its accessors:
private static Double totalQty;
I have this method in a session bean:
public Double TotalsSaticValues(){
return VOrderLinesFulladj.getTotalCHF();
And I want to show the value in a outputText component like this:
<af:outputText value="#{bindings.TotalsSaticValues1.inputValue}">
<f:convertNumber groupingUsed="false"
pattern="{bindings.TotalsSaticValues1.format}"/>
</af:outputText>
The problem is that when the page loads, the TotalsSaticValues() method is not called and of corse the value is not shown.
I have to create a button to call the method:
<af:commandButton actionListener="#{bindings.TotalsSaticValues.execute}"
text="TotalsSaticValues"
disabled="#{!bindings.TotalsSaticValues.enabled}"/>
And when I click, the value appears !
What I have to do to call the method without button ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
create an invokeAction in the executable section of the pagedef file and point it to the method you otherwise execute from the button.
The invoke action is invoked when the page loads

    - to re-create the WAR file with "platform=Glassfish" in the deployment profile but with the same result
    - to create an EAR file with "platform=Glassfish" in the deployment profile but with the same result (I have read in the ADF docs that for ADF applications deployment of WAR files only works witin EAR files)
    From my knowledge the ADF Faces Component demo should be deployable on the certified and supported version of Glassfish as it consists of ADF Essentials features only.
    Anyone already succeeded with deployment of ADF Faces demo application on Glassfish?
    regards

    Okay, so my problem was that the URL I was using was the OC4J launch url (http://host/applicationname and my welcome-file-list was
    <welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>LoginPage.jsp</welcome-file>
    </welcome-file-list>
    I tried these two variations
    <welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>LoginPage.faces</welcome-file>
    </welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>faces/LoginPage.jsp</welcome-file>
    </welcome-file-list>
    and neither of these worked either. (I did restart the OC4J node between each attempt.)
    I finally created an index.html file for the application with an automatic refresh content="0;URL=faces/LoginPage.jsp" and this is working.
    Should the welcome-file-list have worked? Am I doing something wrong here?
    Thanks for the help. Mark

  • ER - Problem with ADF Faces filter when running ADF Faces within a portlet

    I am attempting to get ADF Faces to run within Oracle Portal, i.e. within a portlet using the JPDK.
    This, I am sure you are about to tell me, is not something that is fully supported, as yet.
    However, I have been successful in getting MyFaces to run within a portlet, by customizing the form tag.
    MyFaces, it seems, keeps track of the current viewid by storing it in the session, then uses this within the viewhandler and navigationhandler to determine the next view to load, based on the faces-config.xml navigation entries.
    By customizing the form tag it is then possible to retrieve this viewid from the faces context and outputting it in the form's action parameter.
    It is also possible, with a few more customizations, to run JSF RI within a portlet, i.e. by adding a custom viewhandler and loading a session variable with the current viewid from the faces context, then retrieving the viewid and outputting it as the action string in the customized form tag .
    Unfortunately there does not appear to be any way of getting ADF Faces (EA19 version) to run as a portlet, with either the RI or with MyFaces.
    I have configured a basic .jspx document in the <showPage> tags of the provider.xml file.
    This uses only the form tag and a few input tags and works when executed directly within my portlet project in JDeveloper (http://localhost:8988/TestJSFAppContext/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx) using a redirectfilter (*.jspx htdocs -> /faces/htdocs).
    It is not possible to run ADF Faces with RI as a portlet since customization of the ADF Faces ViewHandler appears not to be supported.
    When attempting to run this with MyFaces as a portlet, however, I get the following message:
    oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl verifyFilterIsInstalled
    WARNING: The AdfFacesFilter has not been installed. ADF Faces requires this filter for proper execution.
    I am having difficulty in understanding as to why this is happening but am guessing it must be something to do with either redirect URLs or due to the .jspx files being under /htdocs, i.e. the ADF Faces renderkit is checking that the ADF Faces filter is configured but the check fails since the filter does not execute.
    I have configured the filter in web.xml, as detailed in the documentation:
      <filter>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <filter-class>oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter</filter-class>
      </filter>
      <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
      </filter-mapping>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
      </servlet>
      <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
      </servlet-mapping>and have modified the provider.xml file as follows:-
          <renderer class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.RenderManager">
             <renderContainer>true</renderContainer>
             <renderCustomize>true</renderCustomize>
             <autoRedirect>true</autoRedirect>
             <contentType>text/html</contentType>
      <showPage>/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx</showPage>
             <editPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditPage.jsp</editPage>
             <editDefaultsPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditDefaultsPage.jsp</editDefaultsPage>
          </renderer>with the following tags also set:
       <session>true</session>
       <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams>In order to ensure that the session stays alive so that the views are retrieved.
    As I say, the page loads OK when run directly within the JPDK project within JDeveloper, with a redirect filter (*.jspx -> /faces/*.jspx) but not when run from within Oracle Portal.
    In fact I have found that this filter is very sensitive, i.e. ADF Faces will not run in any project unless the configuration is exactly as above.
    It seems that the MyFaces team have got around the problem of maintaining session state with redirections but that ADF Faces needs the page URL that is passed in to the filter to be consistent.
    Is there some way around this, i.e. some kind of customization that I can implement to get the filter working?
    Thnks

    I have found a way to go round the problem.
    I use the servlet 2.4/jsp 2.0 route and then
    change the web.xml header to the servlet 2.3/jsp 1.2
    format. Everything then works fine after this!
    Please fix this for production.

  • Problem using ADF Faces Runtime 11 Library

    Hi All,
    I am trying to use tr:Command link to open a dialogue.
    When i run my application including only the JSP Runtime, JSF 2.0, JSTL 1.2 and Trinidad Runtime 11 Libraries my application seems to work fine and a popup is opened.
    However when i include the ADF Faces Runtime 11 library the popup is opened in the same window as a web page.
    The same problem is also encountered when using tr:table with ADF Faces Runtime 11 library.
    The height of the tr:table changes dynamically with the number of rows displayed but when i include ADF Faces Runtime 11 library a fixed height is displayed for the table.
    I need to include the ADF Faces Runtime 11 library for fetching data from application module.
    Can anyone help me out or explain why this happens.
    I am using Jdeveloper 11G.

    Hi John,
    I am actually migrating a project from JDeveloper 10G to Jdeveloper 11G. As u suggested i have removed the ADF Faces Runtime Library from my classpath and included the ADF Model library. When i run my application i am getting the following exceptions.

  • [EJB3 - ADF Faces] entity bean design

    Hello,
    I have an existant application that use database view (very complex) to retrieve and display values from some tables.
    I have to reproduce the same thing with EJB3 ans ADF Faces in a web application.
    What is for you the best way to design entities beans ?
    1. Create some buisness objects (entity beans) and feed them with a query thru the database view ?
    2. Create a unique entity bean with only attributes who are used by the db view ?
    In this case, the entity bean will be used only for this query.
    3. ?
    I think the best solution is the first one.
    But in this case, how to display the result of the query in an ADF Faces table?
    With the 2nd solution the query returns a list of object which will be used by the adf table. That would be much easier.
    Thanks for your help.

    The popup dialog is used for looking up a value of fields on the form. I have fields "location id" and "sub location id", the popup has cascading drop down lists where I choose which ones I want, then return those values from the popup and display the selection in readonly text inputs. Other inputs also exist on the form. Together they all make the input parameters to the session facade's query.

  • Problem with adf-faces

    I have installed the adf-faces EA13 in JDeveloper 10.1.3 preview and have problems
    using it.
    When I create a page with the servlet2.3/jsp1.2
    option the adf-faces libraries do not show up.
    They show up when I use the servlet2.4/jsp2.0 option
    but I get tons of errors when I try to run a test page.
    Here are the errors:
    Please help.
    Behnam
    Project: E:\develop\JSFStockWS\JSFStockWS.jpr
    Error(2,9): Element 'web-app' used but not declared.
    Error(2,63): Attribute 'xmlns:xsi' used but not declared.
    Error(2,164): Attribute 'xsi:schemaLocation' used but not declared.
    Error(2,178): Attribute 'version' used but not declared.
    Error(2,218): Attribute 'xmlns' used but not declared.
    Error(2,219): Can not build schema 'http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee' located at 'http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd'
    and many more lines

    I have found a way to go round the problem.
    I use the servlet 2.4/jsp 2.0 route and then
    change the web.xml header to the servlet 2.3/jsp 1.2
    format. Everything then works fine after this!
    Please fix this for production.

  • Problem with ADF Faces; Bean (session scope) keeps Data after Session ends

    Hi,
    I have a project, which was transferred from an myFaces-project to an ADF Faces-project. Since i´am working with the ADF Faces the data in my beans (which are all in session-scope) won´t vanish after a logout.
    1) I have a method in one bean, which clears the user data (name and passwd), for example, but after a logout (redirecting to the login-page) I just have to push the loginbutton to get in the app. as the last user logged in. The bean is cleared, but where does the data come from. When the app was working with myFaces, this did not happen, the inputText and the inputHidden were empty.
    2) I have a af:table, which displays max ten lines. If the last user watched the elements 21 to 30 in that table, the next user who watches the table gets the same elements shown and not the elements 1 to 10. That shouldn´t happen in a different session.
    3) I have some listboxes in one page, where a user can make some decisions. If i logout and in again, i can see the decisions last made in these listboxes.
    All that happens with beans in session scope!
    Thanks for the replies (i hope) and excuse my bad english,
    Santiago

    Hi
    If this is the case , you can explicitly make all ur session data objects null.

  • [DUPLICATE]strange Session Facade method calling behaviour (EJB3/ADF Faces)

    Hi,
    I have a custom query in a Session Facade bean. On my search form I have a popup dialog and when I return from the dialog, the query in the session facade is called for no explicable reason. In fact it seems to get called several times at different events, but I only want it to be called when I click the button it's bound to. Why is this happening?
    The only partial solution I have at the moment is to make one of the method parameters of the query a boolean value that indicates whether I want the query to actually run or not, if it's false I just return from the query. I set this parameter to true in the backing bean when the search button is pressed.
    Can someone please point me to a better solution?
    many thanks
    R

    Hi,
    as mentioned in teh other posting of your, make sure the refresh condition is set so that it doesn't execute the query on postBack

  • Non numeric @Id being treated as numeric (EJB3/ADF Faces) [Please Frank]

    Hi,
    I have a non-numeric field (varchar2) defined as such:
    public class DepartmentV implements Serializable {
        @Id
        @Column(name="DEPT_ID", nullable = false)
        private String deptId;
    ...When I run the program, I get the following error:
    Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2006.8 (Build 060829)): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException
    Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01722: invalid numberThis is because the column in the table has some non-numerics in it. However the column is defined as varchar, and in the EJB it is defined as String, so why is it being treated as a numeric and how do I fix it?
    many thanks

    Hi,
    tried to reproduce in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 with no success
    @Entity
    @NamedQuery(name = "Testtable.findAll", query = "select o from Testtable o")
    public class Testtable implements Serializable {
    private Long age;
    @Id
    @Column(nullable = false)
    private String idf;
    private String name;
    public Testtable() {
    public Long getAge() {
    return age;
    public void setAge(Long age) {
    this.age = age;
    public String getIdf() {
    return idf;
    public void setIdf(String idf) {
    this.idf = idf;
    public String getName() {
    return name;
    public void setName(String name) {
    this.name = name;
    Works as designed

  • ADF faces logout problem

    Hi.
    I've a problem with ADF faces that I didn't had when I was using the JSF reference implementation. W're using Jboss as a container, but that has nothing to do with this.
    Basicly, the users triggers a logoff by clicking a link that leads to the "logoff" JSF page.
    This page has exactly this content, and nothing more:
    <%-- Tag libraries --%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/tlds/refdataportal.tld" prefix="r" %>
    <%
    org.mycompany.Util util = new org.mycompany.Util();
    util.logoff(request);
    response.sendRedirect("Goodbye.jsp");
    // code DOES reach this point
    %>
    The logoff function does this:
    // invalidate faces
    FacesBean.releaseContext();
    // invalidate the current session for good measure
    HttpSession session = request.getSession(false);
    if (session != null)
    session.invalidate();
    // force the old session to go to the eternal fields of session objects
    request.getSession(true);
    The redirect to Goodbye.jsp is needed to force a "JBOSS" logoff as well.
    Goodbye.jsp is a JSP page (** not ** JSF) which a simple goodbye message.
    Anyway, since using ADF I get the stacktrace shown below.
    I did try to call release() on AdfFacesContext, but that didn't help.
    Do note that we actually reach the line "// code DOES reach this point" shown in the logoff JSF page above... so the redirect() statement is executed.
    Anybody knows how to deal with this?
    Remember, it used to work perfectly fine with the reference impl.

    Falco Paul

    Hi!
    Unfortunally your suggestion didn't work. I did however discover that the exception is only thrown if one uses ADF faces components. There is no error message if reference implementation components are used (even if using the ADF faces renderer class).
    Anyway, this is what I trie:
    I first did a a regular faces responseComplete() call, as I figured that could be the missing action, but again I got the same exception:
    java.lang.IllegalStateException
         com.sun.faces.context.FacesContextImpl.assertNotReleased(FacesContextImpl.java:382)
         com.sun.faces.context.FacesContextImpl.getExternalContext(FacesContextImpl.java:110)
         oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.context.AdfFacesPhaseListener._releaseContextIfNecessary(AdfFacesPhaseListener.java:129)
         oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.context.AdfFacesPhaseListener.afterPhase(AdfFacesPhaseListener.java:60)
         com.sun.faces.lifecycle.LifecycleImpl.phase(LifecycleImpl.java:211)
         com.sun.faces.lifecycle.LifecycleImpl.render(LifecycleImpl.java:117)
         javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet.service(FacesServlet.java:198)
         oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl._invokeDoFilter(AdfFacesFilterImpl.java:356)
         oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl._doFilterImpl(AdfFacesFilterImpl.java:325)
         oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl.doFilter(AdfFacesFilterImpl.java:190)
         oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter.doFilter(AdfFacesFilter.java:87)
         com.abnamro.crd.admin.PortalFilter.doFilter(PortalFilter.java:113)
         org.jboss.web.tomcat.filters.ReplyHeaderFilter.doFilter(ReplyHeaderFilter.java:75)
    Then later I tried this actually calling the faces "sendRedirect" function shown below (that is: prior to calling the logoff() code), but again I got the same Oracle exception (see above).
    // helper method: redirect to some URL (which may be either absolute or relative)
    public synchronized static void redirect(String url)
    ExternalContext external = getExternalContext();
    if (external == null)
    return;
    try {
    external.redirect(url);
    catch (Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    responseComplete();
    So... unfortunally I did still not get much further...

  • ADF faces update problem

    Hi all, I'm using ADF faces + toplink. I have developed a form that first inserts mandatory fields of a record via persistEntity function and later in same page after inserting mandatory fields of record, I want to update empty fields of record that are firstly entered via persistEntity and which are not mandatory fields ... but ... in same page mergeEntity does not work as a result couldn't update the rest of the record in database. Both persistEntity and mergeEntity is binded to same field (<constructor-name.result>) of constructor.
    I have watched from logs through processing of unit of work ... there is no update expression in logs like below :
    [TopLink Finer]: 2006.05.11 04:30:35.546--ServerSession(1693)--Thread(Thread[ApplicationServerThread-0,5,RequestThreadGroup])--client acquired

    [TopLink Finer]: 2006.05.11 04:30:35.546--UnitOfWork(2556)--Thread(Thread[ApplicationServerThread-0,5,RequestThreadGroup])--release unit of work
    please tell me , why mergeEntity does not update the rest of the record after successful insert via persist entity in same page!?
    best regards...

    Hi Frank, thanks for your interest to my problem :-)
    I have passed this problem... I'm using session facade there is no problem in this point. I'm using ADF Faces + Toplink + Session Facades model clearly.
    The problem is ; there is a database table which contains 30 fields and I want to get user input in one page so first of all I designed a page which gets input for only mandatory fields (not null) after returning successfully insert (a new record), I'm using the same record for other fields which are not mandatory. Because there is a newly created record, by using this record I want to update the rest of record. But mergeEntity method does not function well. I have controlled all of the fields in pageDef of this page. All are exists, but mergeEntity which points the same constructor method with persistEntity in pageDef does not function.
    anyway, I passed this problem by means of creating new object and bindings this to mergeEntity method.
    best regards...

  • Problems with combination of ADF Faces, Tomahawk, Facelets and MyFaces

    Hello,
    I am trying to combine all things named in the Subject and run into several problems:
    1. ADF Render Kit forces the Tomahawk Components to be rendered in a wrong way or stop there functionality.
    Example 1: The clickable parts of the t:dataScroller Tag can not be accessed because an empty a Tag will be rendered after the outputText.
    Example 2: The t:commandSortHeader Tag can be clicked but the table content will not be sorted anymore.
    The given examples works if i remove the default-render-kit-id element from the faces-config.xml
    2. The ad:table Tag runs into an ClassCastException, only when I put a simple example code snipped into my xhtml file.
    Code snipped:
    <af:table>
    <af:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <af:outputText value="Firstname"/>
    </f:facet>
    </af:column>
    <af:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Lastname"/>
    </f:facet>
    </af:column>
    </af:table>

    I followed all steps for the ADF installation and the suggested steps for using ADF with Facelets.
    Used versions:
    - Oracle ADF Faces 10.1.3 Early Access
    - myFaces 1.1.1
    - Facelets 1.1.1
    - oc4j 10.1.2.0.2
    Has somebody try to use these things together, too?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Hi,
    Inside our fusion applications(ADF/Webcenter) using combination of JSTL and ADF Faces is good practice or pitfal?
    To suggest a a rule of thumb: Try ADF Faces on-board functionality first before reaching out to JSTL. The difference between JSF in general and JSTL is that the JSTL expressions are evaluated at page compile time wheras JSF expressions are evaluated deferred. This difference may have an impact to PPR refreshes and the data rendering (which in many cases I assume you can fix by setting the ADF Faces component content delivery to immediate instead of deferred). On a training slight I flagged JSTL with a "heads up" alert because of this

  • JDeveloper ADF Faces Problem: Expression language

    Error(): Expression Language not supported in compile time attribute test
    I have followed an ADF Faces example from the Oracle Website. Concerning a database + ADF Faces
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/cioroianu_jsfadf_v4.html
    I followed the tutorial correct but everytime i try to run it. I get following error:
    Error(): Expression Language not supported in compile time attribute test
    It has something to do with following line of code
    <c:if test="${subscriber == null || !subscriber.loggedIn}">
    The error appears on every page where "<c:" appears.
    I have imported the right class library
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
    Does anybody have any idea what i can do?

    Dear Tim,
    What a chance!!! I've got the same problem as you?!
    I've tried almost everything, but still haven't succeeded to solve it!
    Hopefully someone can help us.
    Greetings

  • Problem in implements ADF Faces: Detecting and handling user session expiry

    Hello everybody
    I´m trying to implement a method to handle user session expiry as explained by frank nimphius in his blog.
    http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2007/08/22/adf-faces-detecting-and-handling-user-session-expiry/
    I have implemented the class bellow and add the filters in web.xml. However when I add the JavaServer Faces Servlet to sign the filter, my hole application get nuts. I try to publish the applicatoin in the OAS and it seems that it already starts expired.
    Someone konw what I´m doing wrong?
    I use the filter
    <filter>
    <filter-name>ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>adf.sample.ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter</filter-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>SessionTimeoutRedirect</param-name>
    <param-value>SessionExpired.jspx</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </filter>
    then I add
    XML:
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter</filter-name>
    <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
    </filter-mapping>
    package adf.sample;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import javax.servlet.Filter;
    import javax.servlet.FilterChain;
    import javax.servlet.FilterConfig;
    import javax.servlet.ServletException;
    import javax.servlet.ServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.ServletResponse;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;
    this is the class
    public class ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter implements Filter {
    private FilterConfig _filterConfig = null;
    public void init(FilterConfig filterConfig) throws ServletException {
    _filterConfig = filterConfig;
    public void destroy() {
    _filterConfig = null;
    public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response,
    FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException {
    String requestedSession = ((HttpServletRequest)request).getRequestedSessionId();
    String currentWebSession = ((HttpServletRequest)request).getSession().getId();
    boolean sessionOk = currentWebSession.equalsIgnoreCase(requestedSession);
    // if the requested session is null then this is the first application
    // request and "false" is acceptable
    if (!sessionOk && requestedSession != null){
    // the session has expired or renewed. Redirect request
    ((HttpServletResponse) response).sendRedirect(_filterConfig.getInitParameter("SessionTimeoutRedirect"));
    else{
    chain.doFilter(request, response);
    I'm really having trouble controlling user sessions. if someone know where I can get materials to learn how to implements session in Jdev ADF + BC, I´m very grateful.
    Thank you Marnie

    The class works fine.. the issue is when I add the this code into web.xml
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter</filter-name>
    <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
    </filter-mapping>
    bellow the web.xml
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <web-app>
    <description>Empty web.xml file for Web Application</description>
    <context-param>
    <param-name>javax.faces.STATE_SAVING_METHOD</param-name>
    <param-value>client</param-value>
    </context-param>
    <context-param>
    <param-name>CpxFileName</param-name>
    <param-value>userinterface.DataBindings</param-value>
    </context-param>
    <filter>
    <filter-name>ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>view.managedBean.ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <filter>
    <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>

    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter</filter-name> ==> the problem occurs when I try to add this code
