BIOS can't adjust HT frequency

I got a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum with BIOS 1.40 and an AMD Ahtlon 64 3200+ Winchester
So sat and did a bit overclocking yesterday, or that was, I tested how high the FSB could go, so it was not like I pushed the limits. WHen I tried raising the multiplier from 4 to 5 with FSB at 275 or 280 (can't remember) and the HT frequency at 4x, the BIOS went nuts and I cleared the CMOS...
After that everything looked fine, but whenever I try to adjust the HT frequency, the BIOS freezes. I press Enter and the pop-up window shows, though with no content and I'm not able to do anything but restart...
What's the problem? I've tried reflashing several times with WinFlash...

Don't use Enter to open the pop-up, as this sometimes has the effect you mentioned ; move the value up and down using the Page-Up/Page-Down keys and it should be fine.

  • 990FXA-GD80 can't adjust memory frequency

Hey, I have the 990FXA-GD80 motherboard, and I have an FX-8150 processor hooked up with it as well. I have the latest BIOS and driver utilities installed for the board, but every time I try and adjust my memory DRAM frequency to 1866, my BIOS/motherboard won't post at all.
I have Patriot Viper Xtreme DDR3 memory installed, no issues with it, but the BIOS shows the frequency to be set at "auto" and 1066 MHz. If I try and manually adjust the frequency and reload the computer with the changes, it doesn't post. Anybody know why this is and what I can do to fix it?

Hello! We would like to know some more about your system, if you'd be so kind. For example PSU, graphics card and how many sticks of memory, and I think processor temp according to BIOS would be interesting, too.
My thinking is, either the processor doesn't like your memory yet - and a new BIOS version is required - or the memory is not what you think it is nor what it claims to be.
Please try with a single stick if you haven't. Make sure you got right voltage for the memory; 1,65 volt if this is it http://www.thinkcomputers.org/patriot-viper-xtreme-division-2-ddr3-1866-8gb-dual-channel-memory-kit-review/

  • Can't Adjust CPU Frequency in BIOS (Z87M Gaming + i5 4690k)

I'm trying to overclock my i5 4690k CPU but the option isn't available in the BIOS. The ratio is just set to "Auto" and doesn't allow me to change it. Any one have any issues like this or any solutions? I have a "K" CPU so overclocking should be supported.
Here's a screenshot to show what I mean: imgur(dot)com/CrHEyRz.png (Sorry about having to dodge the link filter, I'm "not allowed to post external links" probably because I just made my account).
    Thanks in advance!

Some settings are selectable others need to be modified directly.
You change ratio by typing it in or +/- keys.
Or, you can always click the OC GENIE button and see what happens. It sets my CPU to 4GHz OC that seems to work, I haven't tested stability.

  • Question on P45 Platinum bios setting for "Adjust PCI Frequency (MHz)"

    System:
P45 Platinum updated to bios 1.6
Intel Q9400 CPU with Xigmatek Heatsink
    620W PSU
    8BG (2x4 slots) Cosair TWIN2X4096-8500C5D PC2-8500 1066MHz
PowerColor 1GB ATI HD 3670 Video card
System runs almost fine at the default setting.  As it boot to blank screen a few times.  Hard reset to boot into system fine.  Once a while, system just froze and need hard reboot.  But seem to stable enough (temperature around 26C)
I wanted to overclock to 3GHz.  But as I just increased FSB from 333 to 340, the system will not boot or it will boot and then locked up after logon to window.   I left everything at auto.  Do I need to set the PCI clock?  It is default at auto.

I have to constantly change the FSB/Dram ratio to keep the RAM frequency between 800-900 for it to stable.  Otherwise, the system will reboot by itself. Is that because I used all four slot of RAM?
Well, the fact that all memory slots are populated makes the matter a little more complicated, but the main problem is elsewhere:  The Intel P45 Chipset natively only supports DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 modules.  In addition to that, your memory modules are not "real" DDR2-1066 modules, but DDR2-800 memory sticks with a permission to overclock and overvolt them to DDR2-1066 @~2.1V.
Try these settings to try to raise your memory clock speed farther:
    - Enhance Setting (Try all settings here: "Enabled", "Disabled" and "Auto")
    - DRAM Voltage = 2.1V
    - DDR_VREF_A = 0.955V
    - DDR_VREF_B = 0.955V
    - Spread Spectrum = Disabled
Usually, the reduction of the DDR Reference Voltages compensates stability problems that are related to overclocking/overvolting the memory to DDR2-1066 on this board.  There is no guarantee that it will work for you, but you may as well give it shot.

Everything else is auto and Core Center is showing:
    vcore 1.21v
    memory 1.92v
    nb 1.12v
CPU temperature after an hour of usage: 23C
You don't wanna use MSI Dual Core Center for temperature monitoring.  The tool is unable to read/calculate the Core Temperatures of your processor which are based digitial sensors implemented in each processor core.  The data these sensors collect is stored in specific CPU registers that can be accessed by tools like Core Temp, Real Temp, Everest Ultimate and Speedfan (there are more tools of course).  The "CPU Temperature" value shown in BIOS and by MSI Dual Core Center are based on the readings of an analog sensor of unknown location.  It is uncertain, what this value actually refers to and it is also not very reliable.

  • X38 Platinum & q9550 - incorrect adjusted cpu frequency?

I have a core2quad Q9550 in my new X38 Platinum. My BIOS is up-to-date. My RAM is Gskill 1333MHz DDR3.
In the Cell Menu in BIOS, at the top it shows
Current CPU Frequency: 2.83GHz (333x8.5)  <-- correct speed for this CPU
    Current DRAM Frequency: 1333MHz
However the Adjusted CPU Frequency says [2667]!
    D.O.T. Control [Disabled]
    Intel IEST [Enabled]
    Adjusted CPU FSB Frequency [333]
Anyone got any idea what's going on? Is my CPU running at full speed or not?
    Thank you.

This was a pre-windows query. However, in order to follow AaronYuri's suggestion, I am now installing Vista 64. I will set everything to, well, as close as I can get to no power management

  • I7 2600k | Z68A GD65(B3) - Can't Adjust Multiplier

Hello. I'm hoping someone here can help me make sense of my motherboard because right now I'm stumped.
I just flashed my BIOS to the newest version (25.8) from the site.
I have enabled XMP and ACHI mode to support my new SSD. Everything else is defaulted to the values that came in after my BIOS flash.
My CPU multiplier is locked - I can't set it to Manual mode in the BIOS. It shouldn't be locked since I have the 2600k...so I'm really stumped here. I can go into the advanced CPU features and adjust the multiplier of the 4 cores individually, but I can't adjust the main multiplier at all.
Also, my processor isn't downclocking to 1.6GHz. It's hovering between 3.4GHz and 3.8GHz constantly even when not under load.
I'm pretty confused at this point. My questions are:
    1) Why can't I adjust my multiplier, and what do I need to do to be able to adjust my multiplier so that I can overclock my "unlocked" processor?
    2) Why isn't my CPU downclocking anymore?
Really, some general guidelines on MOBO settings would be appreciated.
    Thanks for reading,
    pittengr

Hey xmad - thanks for responding.
I did make sure that the option for OS changes was disabled. When I get home I will try the +/- keys to see if that makes a difference.
Is it true that the newest BIOS for this board doesn't jive well with Sandy Bridge? I've seen some posts from people who want to roll back their BIOS to an older version so that they can overclock their i7 2600k correctly.
I know that my i7 isn't acting right. Other thanenabling XMP for my RAM and putting my peripherals in ACHI mode for my SSD - all of my BIOS settings are stock. I haven't overclocked at all and I haven't messed with any of my CPU settings. Even with these settings, my i7 2600k hovers between 3.4GHz and 3.8GHz - when not under load. It used to downclock to 1.6GHz when not under load. Something sounds wrong here.
    Any other suggestions are appreciated.

  • I can not adjust the calendar in profilemanager

I can not adjust the calendar in profilemanager, in group settings, try to create a profile to calendar automatically adjusts for each user when it is installed on the client machine fails (failed). If the profile is set manually, the message - "The Calendar Account payload could not be installed. An attempt to create the account securely failed"

I think it might be becasue the Profile Distribution Type in the General payload is set to "Automatic Push" and you have an incorrect password for the calendar account. Try switching the Profile Distribution Type to Manual Download and leavign the password blank so the user has to enter it when they try to add it.
There's a weird thing where the calendar password field becomes "required" in Automatic Push mode in which case not only must there be characters entered in the field but the password must be correct for it to work. Not great for a profiel intended for more than one person.
    Good luck,

  • Firefox crashes on opening even in safe mode so I can not adjust any settings - Crash ID: bp-6c9dc360-32db-4a34-968b-9474f2121230.

I have a 64 bit windows computer running Windows 7. For the past few months Firefox has been crashing on opening - occasionally opening on my husband's profile but not mine. I am now using IE9 running as administrator but would prefer to use Firefox.
I can not adjust any of the settings, plugins etc as I can not open the program at all. After the first attempt I have go to the task manager and stop firefox.exe. Then on my next opening attempt I get the error messages again. I have sent off numerous crash reports to Mozilla.

    That looks like a problem with a component of your Nvidia display driver: [@ @0x0 | nvd3dum.dll@0x3a7434 ]<br />
I'm not sure how to fix this as an internet search on this file doesn't give any real solutions.
First make sure that you have the latest drivers for your graphics display card.<br />
If it started after an update of those drivers the see if you can role back to the previous version of the drivers.

Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.
By camera you mean "iSight" try the suggestions in the article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 and on EZJim's Website.  If no help, post in the iSight forum area.

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • How can I adjust the font size of my printouts?

I have an HP Officejet 4500 all-in-one printer and a new HP pavilion Slimline computer.  Since I changed to this computer, my printouts have very small font size making them hard to read.  How can I adjust the font size of the printout?  Is it a computer or printer function? I appreciate the help.

I, too, am frustrated.  This seems like something that would easily be handled within the application software.  However, none of the fixes I've been offered have been very helpful.  My cousin sugested using Control C and Control V to move the text to WORD.  Once in WORD, you can manipulate the text on a WORD page...sometimes.  I've had good and bad luck with this method.  It still requires working in two different programs to get it legible.  Does anyone else have a 4500  All-in -one with this problem, or is it only me?  Thanks,  [Edited for Personal Information]

  • Is there a way to change the master text length in FCP? The default length is 10 seconds, which is too long. I can easily adjust the length but I don't want to do it each time, and I don't want to adjust one and then have to copy and paste this length.

Is there a way to change the master text length in FCP? The default length is 10 seconds, which is too long. I can easily adjust the length but I don't want to do it each time, and I don't want to adjust a text clip and then have to copy and paste this each time. Ideally, there should be something in User Preferences but there is not. Thanks.

Maybe some one else can pipe up with a solution, but this would literally take 2 seconds to do for a new project.  And you can create a "template project" that includes this "text" clip.  Save this project and then to a get info and check "stationary pad."  When you double click on this file, fcp will open with a copy of this project and you just need to do a save as.
I've been working with computer editing systems for longer than i can remember and at a certain point you just have to adapt your workflow to the limitations of the software.

How can I adjust text size in ibooks dictionary?

    Hello Eoradec2012,
It sounds like you are using the Define function in iBooks and you are wanting to increase the size of the font on the page showing the definition. The size of that text can be controlled in the Text Size section:
To adjust the font size, follow these steps:
Go to Settings > General > Text Size.
Drag the slider to the preferred size. The text on the screen will adjust as you move the slider.
