BIP and Siebel server - file system and load balancing question

1. I just need to understand whenever the reports are generated through BIP, are there reports stored on some local directory (say Reports) on the BIP server or Siebel File system? If on a File system how will archiving policy be implemented.
2. When we talk of load balancing BIP Server. Can the common load balancer be used for BIP and Siebel servers?

Hi Sravanthi,
Please check the below for finding ITS and WAS parameters from backend :
For ITS - Go to SE37 >> Utilities >> Setting >> Click on ICON Right Top Corner in popup window >> Select Internet Transaction Server >> you will find the Standard Path and HTTP URL.
For WAS - Go to SE37 >> Run FM - RSBB_URL_PREFIX_GET >> Execute it >> you will find PRefix and PAth paramter for WAS.

  • Image: display from local drive, upload to server file system, and display from server

    Hello,
    I am using jdev 11.1.2.4.0...
The requirement is that users would like to upload images from their local drive to server drive and they would like display images from server drive later.
We don't want to keep images in database. I am not sure what the solution should be; however, I plan to ....
    1. create a table to keep an information of images -- image_id, image_location (server drive), image_filename
    2. create a page where users can enter image information and specific filename from a local drive (I think I will use inputFile component) and provide the preview button to display an image on screen before save it. To save data is to save information to the database and copy an image file to the server drive (the destination location for image files is predefined.)
    3. create another page where users can browse information from the database and display an image for a selected record by getting from the server.
    I need suggestions on...
    1. how to display an image on page from the local drive?
    2. how to copy a file from a local drive to a server?
    3. how to display an image on page from the server drive?
    Thank you.

Where Timo saves images to the database, you save it to the file system (examples on how to do this from Java are available plenty if you just Google for it). Similar to Timo you then use the image tag to display images. The difference is that you can directly add the URL from the database table.
The benefit of using a database to host images is that you are not dependent on file server structures though

  • APEX 2.1 and server  file system interaction methods

    Hello experts
I am building a web application using APEX 2.1 that would be used by a few hundred users as a secure and auditable portal to a word document file library.
The main use case is that an authenticated user will find links to documents he/she has been granted access of various levels (read only or read/write).
All the files are stored on the server file system.
I have a couple of questions:
1.some file" when placed in an HTML region source does not work. Is this normal ?
2.Will I have to import the entire file library (very large in size and number of files) into APEX so I can access them from APEX or can I simply use the simple anchor HTML tag above.
    Many thanks. Zemus.

  • Crashes and read-only file systems

Notice: I apolgize for the long post, I've tried to be as thorough as possible.  I have searched everywhere for possible solutions, but things I've found end up being temporary workarounds or don't apply to my situation.  Any help, even as simple as, "have you checked out XYZ log, it's hidden here", would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks
I'm not sure what exactly caused the issues below, but they did start to happen within a day of running pacman -Syu.  I hadn't run that since I first installed Arch on December 2nd of this year.
    Setup:
    Thinkpad 2436CTO
    UEFI/GPT
    SSD drive
    Partitions: UEFISYS, Boot, LVM
The LVM is encrypted and is broken up as: /root, /var, /usr, /tmp, /home
All LVM file systems are EXT4 (used to have /var and /tmp as ReiserFS)
The first sign that something was wrong was gnome freezing.  Gnome would then crash and I'd get booted back to the shell with all filesystems mounted as read-only.  I started having the same issues as this OP:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=150704
At the time, I had /var and /tmp as ReiserFS, and would also get reiserfs_read_locked_inode errors.
When shutting down (even during non-crashed sessions) I would notice this during shutdown:
    Failed unmounting /var
    Failed unmounting /usr
Followed by a ton of these:
device-mapper: remove ioctl on <my LVM group> failed: Device or resource busy
Nother of these errors had ever appeared before.
After hours of looking for solutions (and not finding any that worked) I was convinced (without any proof) that my Reiser file systems were corrupt and so I reformatted my entire SSD and started anew - not the Arch way, I know   I set all logical volumes as EXT4.
    After started anew, I noticed
device-mapper: remove ioctl on LVM_SysGroup failed: Device or resource busy
was still showing up, even with just a stock Arch setup (maybe even when powering off via Arch install ISO, don't remember).  After a lot of searching, I found that most people judged it a harmless error, so I ignored it and continued setting up Arch.
I set up Gnome and a basic LAMP server, and everything seemed to work for a couple of hours.  Soon after, I got the same old issues back.  The System-journald issue came back and per the workaround on https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=150704 and a couple other places, I rotated the journals and stopped journald from saving to storage.  That seemed to stop THOSE errors from at least overwhelming the shell, but I would still get screen freezes, crashes, and read-only file systems.
I had to force the laptop to power off, since poweroff/reboot/halt commands weren't working (would get errors regarding the filesystems mounted as read-only).
I utilized all disk checking functions possible.  From running the tests (SMART test included) that came as part of my laptop's BIOS to full blown fsck.  All tests showed the drive was working fine, and Fsck would show everything was either clean, or
    Clearing orphaned inode ## (uid=89, gid=89, mode=0100600, size=###
Free blocks count wrong (###, counted=###)
Which I would opt to fix.  Nothing serious, though.
I could safely boot back into Arch and use the system fine until the system decides to freeze/crash and do the above all over again.
The sure way of recreating this for me is to run a cron job on a local site I'm developing. After a brief screen freeze (mouse still moveable but everything is otherwise unreponsive) I'll systemctl status mysqld.service and notice that mysqld went down.
It seems that it's at this point my file systems are mounted as read only, as trying to do virtually anything results in:
unable to open /var/db/sudo/...: Read-only file system
After some time, X/Gnome crashes and I get sent back to shell with
    ERROR: file_stream_metrics.cc(37)
    RecordFileError() err = 30 source = 1 record = 0
    Server terminated successfully (0)
Closing log file.or_delegate.h(30)] sqlite erro1, errno 0: SQL logic error or missing database[1157:1179
rm: cannot remove '/tmp/serverauth.teuroEBhtl': Read-only file system
Before all this happened, I was using Arch just fine for a few weeks.  I wiped the drives and started anew, and this still happens with just the minimal number of packages installed.
I've searched for solutions to each individual problem, but come across a hack that doesn't solve anything (like turning off storing logs for journal), or the solution doesn't apply to my case.
At this point, I'm so overwhelmed I'm not even sure where exactly to pick up figuring this issue out.
Thanks in advance for any help

Did this occur when you booted from the live/install media?
What is your current set up? That is, partitions, filesystems etc. I take it you have not yet reinstalled X but are in the default CLI following installation?
If turning off log storage didn't help, reenable it so that you may at least stand a chance of finding something useful.
What services, if any, are you running? What non-default daemons etc.?
Does it happen if you keep the machine off line?
Have you done pacman -Syu since installation and dealt with any *.pacnew files?

  • OES11 SP2 - Linux File System and NSS Pools & Volumes

Planning to install our first OES11 SP2 server into an existing tree - the
idea is to run this new OES11 server virtualized on VMware ESXi 5.5
The existing tree has two physical NW6.5SP8 servers running eDirectory
Version 8.7.3.10b (NDS Version 10554.64). One of the existing Netware
servers is used for DHCP/DNS, File Sharing from three NSS volumes and
Groupwise 7.0.4 whilst the second server is used for FTP services and
eDirectory redundancy. Ultimately the plan is to have two virtualized OES11
SP2 server with one for file sharing and the other for making the move from
GW7 to GW2012. And we're planning to stick with NSS for file sharing on the
    new OES11 SP2 server.
I've come across a couple of posts for earlier versions of OES which
recommended not to put the Linux Native OS File System and NSS storage
pools/volumes on the same hard drive. Apparently the advice was a result of
needing to allow EVMS to manage the drive which could be problemmatic.
I've read the OES11 documentation which says that "The Enterprise Volume
Management System (EVMS) has been deprecated in SLES 11, and is also
deprecated in OES 11. Novell Linux Volume Manager (NLVM) replaces EVMS for
managing NetWare partitions under Novell Storage Services (NSS) pools."
So I'm wondering if there is still a compelling requirement to keep the
Linux Native File System and NSS pools/volumes on separate hard drives or
can they both now safely co-exist on the same drive without causing
headaches or gotchas for the future?
    Neil

    Hi Willem,
Many thanks for the further reply.
So we can just use the VMWare setup to "split" the one physical drive into
two virtual drives (one for the OS and the second for the pools).
And I've seen posts in other forums about the need for a decent battery
backed cache module for the P410i controller so I'll make sure we get one
    (probably 512Mb module + battery).
Can I ask what is the advantage of configuring each VM's virtual disk to run
on it's own virtual SCSI adapter (by setting disk1 to scsi 0:0, disk2 to
    scsi 1:0, and so on)?
    Cheers,
    Neil

  • New Macbook and Linux(ferdora) file system ext3

    Hello all.
I am getting a new Macbook.
My home file server runs Fedora Core5 with a file system of ext3.
Will the Mac be able to have read/write access?
I did not know if anyone has any experience with this?
I want to use the mac as my day to day computer but keep much of my files on my home linux box. That way I can keep adding drives.
Also.. under linux I can map a drive or folder to any folder
I want .... so that the network drive appears to be a folder in the file system and not new drive.
Is this possible in the apple world?
    Thanks for the insight.
    T

I am in the LINUX world.
I am moving to a Apple world just for my "interface" and form factor.
I use notebooks as my primary computer. You cannot beat the form factor and the "cool" factor of the macbook.
Getting linux to work on a laptop with all of different configs is difficult. I have 2 that work but they are not as "slick" as the macbook.
therefore I am planning to use a macbook as my primary computer and have linux (fedora) running on my home based computers, File server, guest computer etc.
Thanks for your help. Samba would work. But I was hoping for a more direct connection and the ability to mount a drive/folder in my mac filesystem. - which I do not know the mac file system at all.
Thanks again. I am off to google somemore... and see what I turn up.

  • System with load balancing server

    Hi All,
We are having SAP NW 7.0 Portal and back end we have R3 implemented in a cluster environment.  The system object in EP have used "System with Load balancing" template; using the LOGON group and the other related parameters.
But we have some problem with the ITS and WAS parameters; since we are using some Transaction iViews.
Let me explain.. for the R3 cluster we have 2 systems PROD1.domain.ext and PROD2.domain.ext. Now in the system object in portal, how to specify the parameters for ITS and WAS parameters? Since the host name in these we need to specify a single server which defeats the basic purpose of having clustered environment.
Can any one please help in resolving this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sravanthi

    Hi Sravanthi,
Please check the below for finding ITS and WAS parameters from backend :

  • Need utilities class for application server file system (i.e. unix etc)

I need to do things to directories and files on the application server.
Is there an SAP class with methods for the application server file system (i.e. unix or whatever) with functionality similiar to what is provided by the methods of CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES for the presentation server?
Is there a group of SAP functions for this task?

You may have a look at Thomas Jung article: [sdn contribution : ABAP Server Side File Access, by Thomas Jung|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/7a13f367-0401-0010-47ba-eab0b15cf31c]
Moreover, in release 7.10, it could be possible that SAP introduced input and output stream classes (to mimic java classes), so I guess there could be the ones for application server file system.

    Carol,
TREX is a separate product. During installation and configuration of TREX you connect it to the portal. The search iViews of the portal will use the configured TREX server to do the actual search:

  • Routing and caching layer vs. F5 load balancer or both.

We have 4 WFE servers farm, For load balancing, I can see following option.
Purchase the F5 load balancer, don't use the RM.
Have a one more server that will do Routing using RM and caching. Don't use the
     F5 load balancer.
Have both F5 load balancer and RM
I am wondering what approach we should take. I have read a lot of articles in MSDN, all suggests that we should have a routing & caching layer at front of WFE server. Considering we have just 4 WFE Servers do we need to have a separate routing and cache
layer along with F5 load balancer. I am really confused here.
    Regards Restless Spirit

Using Request Management isn't a replacement for using a hardware load balancer.  It will be used internally within SharePoint to route things appropriately.  It depends on the number of users your farm will support, but you may or may not need
a dedicated distributed cache / request management layer.  Refer to this
diagram to see where your farm fits in.

I have recently updated my CC programs to the latest version (CC2014) and now all of my files wont open by default into their respective programs, only if I open the program and go to file>open and open the file from there. How can I fix this?
I have tried 'Open with' and the version of the program now installed on my computer isn't even suggested as an option and when I browse for it, the file wont open with it anyway

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

revert back to Maverick that is what I had to finally do. This was the worst upgrade I have ever seen. Hopefully you have Time Machine backup and can revert back. It was pretty painless except for a few issues. I will wait until Apple gets their stuff together on this upgrade or may never will.

Select your Hard drive by Make & Model and check the SMART Status (lower right of the right window). Choose "Repair Disk" . This ONLY examines and repairs the Directory area of the drive, but may improve things a bit. If errors cannot be repaired, you may need a stronger tool, or a new drive.
