Black Face Plate for Audigy Platinum

Hi. I searched this topic and it didn't look good, but wanted to further verify if anyone has ever found exhangable face plates for Audigy Platinum. I'm switching to a black Lian Li case and my white face plate looks kinda rediculous! Thanks.

You may laugh, but you can detach the plate, and spray paint it very quickly. I did this with my first i/o bay and finished it off with a nice glossy lacquer. It looks great to this day!? I later did the same with an Audigy bay.

  • Can u Swap 4G 40GB Black face plate (U2 Special Ed) onto White 4G 40GB iPod

Apologize if this has been asked (I searched, couldn't come up with anything).
Can I swap a replacement 4G (4th Generation) Black iPod face plate faceplate, which would have come on the 20GB U2 Special Edition iPod, version 1, before they changed to a color screen, onto my 4G White 40GB iPod?
Here are the 4G U2 black models specs:
    Dimensions: 4.1" H x 2.4" W x *_0.63" D_*
    http://guides.macrumors.com/iPodU2Edition
Here are the 4G regular monochrome specs:
    Dimensions: 4.1" H x 2.4" W x *_0.57" D_*

As near as I can tell the form factors are identical in height and width but the depth is shallower in the 40GB White version - what I don't know though is _whether that depth is made up in the shell or in the face plate sides_ - i.e. are the shells, the metal parts deeper/more shallow and the face plates the same depth, or are the face plates different depths?
    Thanks for anyone's advice, help!

  • Need application software for Audigy Platinum

I just re-installed my Audigy Platinum card and dri've into an XP SP3 system, downloaded the latest drivers from Creative and it works just fine (ty Creative!). I even used the optical out connection to my Denon 5. AVR and it sounds great.
However, I don't have any of the application software and can't seem to download that software from the website without having some old application software already installed. Is there a work around?
I do have the original disk for the following Creative cards (which I also own):
    Sound Blaster 6 PCI (part # 220ML0003020)
    Sound Blaster Li've!? (part # 220ML0003060)
    Sound Blaster AWE64 (part # 73330530-)
I'm reluctant to try installing any of the applications from these disks in order to enable the appropriate application software to be downloaded/installed off the web, as I don't want to risk messing up the present clean driver installation. I did try putting the disks in the dvd dri've to see if that would enable the download/install process (this has worked with other products) to no avail.
I would very much like to have the complete set of applications for this still excellent card/dri've so I can enjoy the full functionality of the Audigy Platinum.
Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    John W. Wright

    THANK YOU FOR THE ISO!!!
    It worked flawlessly.
However, I did a messy job of installing it. I had installed the beta drivers before using the iso, and then when I installed the CD and its drivers none of the utilities worked. I then tried uninstalling the utilities but the installation stalled and failed repeatedly. Luckily, I had the option to system restore, but it was on a save point in the middle of installation. So its a pretty sloppy job.
One thing: when switching between modules (EQ, or volume control, or EAX); there is a 6 second wait.
Also, EAX reverb does not work well on Soundfonts (very faint reverb, but definetely not sufficient).
But thank you very much for saving my life.

I'm trying to build a cable to connect the dri've directly to my card, as I don't seem to be able to buy the daughter card (SB00b) anywhere.
(If anyone does know where I can get a daughter card that would be really useful as well)
Only that can be found is pinout table for AUD_EXT, but it's not 44 pin but 40 pin connector. You can find it from Creative Support/KnowledgeBase by searching AUD_EXT.

  • Power splitter for Audigy Platinum

Hi, I've had a platinum ex for a long time. I upgraded my computer, including my PSU recently, and now I can't find the splitter cable for the expansion card anywhere. Does anyone know if I can get a replacement? Also, I heard that you can use a floppy dri've connector instead, but when I tried connecting one to the expansion card, it just slipped off, the pins seemed to match the slots on the connector, but the connection was loose and didn't seem right. Can anyone help?

Thanks! I still can't get the connector to stay in normally, but I just wrapped some sellotape around to keep it in and everything works fine.
...the weird thing is it used to work without it. The pins don't seem bent or anything, the floppy connectors just won't stay on. Still, it works, that's what matters! Thanks again!

  • Audigy platinum pinouts for dri

I have an original Audigy platinum with the connections for a dri've bay - which I did not purchase. My new case allows for a front panel microphone and headphone (as well as other connections) in addition to the back panel ones. After installing the audigy card in it - these connections no longer work =(
Since the dri've bay comes with mircorphoone and headphone outputs - I assume there are appropriate pins on the dri've bay connection that (if identified) - could be connected to my computers froont panel enabeling the use of these with the audigy card and not just the sound system proved with the mobo. Does someone have accurate information about the pinouts for the dri'vebay that are on the Audigy card? And, would you be gracious enough to supply me with this information.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Greetings again and thank you Jeremy for the fast response - FYI I did look for this information on the web before coming here to post. Based on what I gathered from the article you attached was that: . I could connect my front panel headset connections to pins 0, and 2 ( General purpose output , general purpose output 2 and ground) (or should they go to the ones labeled spdif?) 2. I could connect the microphone connections to pins 5 and 6 (spdif input signal and ground) I hate to be a pain but I really don't feel like messing up anything either and maybe a moment of your time can save me a lot of issues later. Thanks in advance!!! Jim Here is the content from the post so you don't have to go back and look: This is for the Sound Blaster Li've and Sound Blaster Audigy Series Only. • Replacement for Inspire 5700 + Creative Audigy Platinum

    Hi,
for many years I have been using a combination of a Creative Audigy Platinum soundcard with a Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 speaker system. I am very pleased with the quality, compatibility and easy-to-useness of this system. For games and music, I let the soundcard do the decoding and send the bits via digital connection to the Inspire system, which I set to 5.1 DIN. For DVDs, I send everything via SPDIF and let the Inspire do the decoding, either DTS or Dolby digital. Works just perfectly.
Only problem: if everything works according to the plan, I will move from Europe to the States in two months and stay there for - 3 years. Because desktop computers and probably also my Inspire 5700 system are quite tricky to ship, I decided to buy a laptop here and buy another speaker system by creative after I have a arrived in the states. Full of anticipation I checked this site to choose my future system and ... was struck by shock:
I couldn't find any system which offered the same features as the Digital 5700! All modern systems lack digital input, leave alone an external decoder and have primitive wire-remotes instead of real remotes! Why has this kind of great system disappeared? Of course you cannot buy the good old 5700 anymore, which leaves me with a great problem of how to organize a system which offers similar quality and features.
I originally planned to connect my laptop (ASUS A8JS) via S/PDIF to the new inspire 5.1 speaker set, which would then do the job of decoding digital audiostreams coming from DVDs. But well, since the new Inspire sets neither support S/PDIF nor offer external decoding, that idea has been flushed down the toilet
What do you recommend instead? I guess I will need a USB Sound Blaster in combo with an inspire speaker set. What will provide the same quality to what I had? What are the drawbacks of not having digital connections any more? How can I control sound levels of the subwoofer, center and rearspeakers, if there is no external decoder anymore? Only via software?
Thank you very much for any advice!

Thank you very much for your helpful replies! Future looks much brighter now
Where have you found the Audigy 2 NX? On their webpage, creative only list the USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor or the Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External as USB-solutions. Since I don't need the video editing capability, the Audigy 2 ZS would probably be quite an overkill. Still, the price difference between Audigy ($250) and Life! ($50) is ... drastic! Besides the video stuff and some connections, what else is the Life! solution missing? Does it have poor quality? Is there no real 3D sound, just some kind of upmixing? It's not very clear from the specifications.
The Logitech Z-5500 Digital looks very promising, too. A consequent improvement of the Inspire D-5700, just by the competition I may go for that one, but probably still need an external soundcard for 3D-sound in games.
I am not exactly an expert considering connections. So, my laptop will already have digital S/PDIF built into the headphone plug. Just from the look, I'd say this is the same kind of plug which is called "Analog/Digital-Out" on my old Audigy sound card. Now, the logitech system supports digital optical or digital coaxial as source input. Will this work with the S/PDIF headphone out, or would it require the DIN connection you mentionned? Could this be easily solved by buying an adaptor?
Looking at the picture showing the connections of the SB Life! I again am not clear at all what kind of connections there are (http://us.creative.com/products/prod...Specifications ). Is there anything compatible with the Logitech system? I guess it's no question the Audigy2 ZS is equipped with the required connections.
So, to summarize my question: could I digitally connect either my laptop or the SB Live! 24-bit external with the Logitech Z-5500, so that the latter would take care of decoding Dolby Digital and DTS sound, while the sound blaster would provide EAX and 3D sound for games?
I have also seen that Creative Labs still offers an external decoder with a lot of connection possibilities. It's just no longer part of a speaker system, but rather a standalone product: the Creative Decoder DDTS-100 for $30. Together with a good speaker system, this may be an alternative to the logitech solution, in terms of enabling to plug in other devices than just a computer (another thing I really loved about my old system).
Well, again thank you very much for your advice!

  • Install CD for Audigy 2 Platinum

So I had an ugly HD crash, and had to replace and reload.
I've had an Audigy 2 Platinum card for forever, but cannot locate the install CD which has all the goodies on it, including, apparently, some features that you can't get in the support download section, such as the mixer, the speaker setup utility, even the troubleshooting utility.
What I downloaded and installed was the driver package, and that gets the soundcard going, but any of the other updates/upgrades apparently assume you already have the mixer console and other features installed, and from what I can read here, it appears those only exist on the install CD, and it looks like..yup..no longer available from Creative.
can anyone give me some guidance?
How do I get an install CD?
Is it available any longer from Creative and I just need to ask?
    Thanks!

Re: Install CD for Audigy 2 Platinumv Download and burning an ISO..no problem.
Went with installing the audigy 2 software, but not the mediasource stuff (first selection, but not the second).
First install, got a message about a missing handler, continued anyway, found that in the speaker testing/selection section i was showing "<<no strings>>" in the "speaker/headphone selection" dropdown. ?
Also, then, discovered the diagnostics were missing.
So I did a repair, seemed to go as expected, but still same issue.
When I run diagnostics, it tells me the following fail:
    wave driver
    midi driver
    mixer driver
    mixer settings check
    So..next ste
    ps.
going to reinstall, do a reg cleanup, and go with standard install defaults. I may have gotten too picky with the custom install. I hate to let this thing just bloatware me to death, but likely have no choice.
I have audio, the card works, etc..but I had that when I had just the basic drivers installed originally.

  • Audigy Platinum only records at 48k 16 bit in Sound For

Can someone please tell me what i'm doing that's so stupid? I'm trying to use Sound Forge to record my DJ sets through my Audigy Platinum, but for some reason Sound Forge will only let me record at 48k 6 bit sample rate, and the monitoring is almost impossible - most of the time I get terrible feedback destroying my ears! If I then save something I've recorded as a 44.k wav file or a mp3 file, the sound blaster wont play it at all.
I've moved the Audigy from an older PC that died on me, and I didn't have the original disc (from 4 years ago) so I downloaded the drivers from the web, but it doesn't seem to be working too well.
Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
    Cheers.

Ok, I have some more info in this. I can get Soundforge to work when it uses the Windows Sound Mapper, but not the Creative Asio driver. DOes this help? Does it matter which one Sound Forge uses?
    Please help!
Your card supports ASIO only @ 6-bit/48 kHz (hard locked).
Are there other driver modes listed (MME Audigy, DS Audigy, DirectX)?
If 6/48 with ASIO is not enough, then use DS Audigy if possible.

  • 10dB boost for LFE an Audigy Platinum (hard- or software)?

; I read that the Audigy Platinums LFE channel?has 0dB less volume then the rest, and is therefore not working correctly on non creative sound systems.
So how can i give?my LFE signal?a 0dB boost? Any simple hard oder software solutions?

    icke wrote:
The Teufels Bass controller is at 00%.
You're probably one of the many folks who like artificially-boosted bass.
Bass redirection is not the issue, its [sic] turned on..that the LFE signal is to [sic] weak is the problem.
The bass redirection feature extracts the frequencies below the cutoff frequency from the non-sub channels, reduces them -0dB, mixes them together with the LFE signal obtained from DD/DTS sources, and outputs the mixture from the output jacks as the subwoofer output. This causes the extracted bass and any LFE signal to match without driving the line-level output past 0dB, so that the subwoofer output behaves as a LFE-level output rather than a line-level one. Otherwise any LFE signal above -0dB would get clipped at full line-level settings. Note that basically unless you are listening to a DVD, there is no LFE signal involved, but that the extracted bass is still reduced in volume.
Back to a external or software solution please.
If you like cranked bass and treble, use the soundcard's equalizer (or treble/bass controls) to accomplish this. It is best to shape this curve by leaving the "ends" at 0db, reducing the middle frequencies to get what you're after, and just turn up the speaker system to get the loudness you want (settings above 0dB can cause clipping if the soundcard is set up to output line-level).
Can i get Audigy 2 drivers to work with the audigy ?
Probably, but I'm not particularly expert on that, and it has nothing to do with your question.

  • Creative Audigy Platinum Installation Help with Pentium 4 3.2GHz HT Enab

Dear Fellows,I have recently upgraded to a new Pentium 4 machine. Once I install the operating system (Win XP) and move to the installation of Creative Audigy Platinum Sound card. All the applications are installed and the system hangs while updating *drivers*. I restarted but it corrupts the whole operating system conflicting with Display Driver, Mainboard driver as well as Windows. CD/DVD Rom also disappear. I then reinstalled operating system again. I would like to request for help and solving this issue and I dont want to get rid of Creative Audigy. I have heard complaints with Hyper-threading technology but I disabled it and the same problem occured. I tried everything e.g. latest drivers from Creative website, BIOS updates, Driver updates etc etc. The problem starts once the drivers are to be updated for Creative Audigy Platinum.Anticipating your response soon.Regards,

    Hi Jeremy,
I would like to thank you for your kind assistance with my problem.
Heres the good news, I finally managed to install and run my Creative Audigy Platinum perfectly.
Credit goes to your assitance and support.
For your info, I would like you to know what I really did.
I have an Intel Genuine 865GBF mainboard. I installed clean copy of Windows XP (SP) and downloaded and installed latest Chipset INF utility from Intel website. I guess this utility tells the mainboard what kind of hardware is configured on the board.
Please note that I did not add any PCI card except the AGP graphics card.
After finishing Windows XP, I installed the Creative Audigy Card in a different PCI slot. When windows started, it detected the sound card installed.
I simply ran the driver and programs from the Creative CD and it installed perfectly. I then updated the drivers downloaded from the Sound Blaster site in correct order.
After finishing with Creative Audigy Platinum installation. I installed other hardware devices, service packs, AV and applications.
Its the third day and everything is running well.
I just wrote the steps if someone else faces the same problem, he/she can sort it out the same way.
    Thanks again for your help.
    Best regards,

  • Headset no longer works with Audigy Platinum dr

I have a Logitech headset that plugs into the headphone and mic jacks on the Audigy Platinum dri've. On Saturday I had to do some work in my computer, so I disconnected the dri've from the card to get the data cable out of the way.
This may not be related (I hope not), but I plugged my floppy dri've in wrong and fried the floppy dri've and melted the wire to the PSU. I got a new floppy dri've and PSU. I don't believe the sound card or Platinum dri've were effected because they both work fine otherwise.
Anyway I no longer get any sound from my headphones when they're plugged into the dri've, but do get sound when they're plugged into the Creative Labs remote control for my speakers. I get no sound from my mic when it's plugged into the mic jack on the Platinum dri've either. I haven't tested it with another jack yet, but assume it'd work.
I also notice in my Windows mixer, that the option for Line In/Mic 2 is no longer there, either in the main part, or under Recording. Line In/Mic 2 is the mic jack on the Platinum Dri've.
The Platinum dri've works fine otherwise. I can use the firewire port on it and I know it's receiving power because I can see the red light in the optical connector. To be sure, I went back inside my computer and doublechecked the connections. It IS hooked up properly.
How can I get the jacks to work again, short of uninstalling/reinstalling the driver? I don't think this is necessary because the sound works otherwise. Thanks all!

The Audigy dri've works from three different cables. One is the power cable, one is the IEEE394 cable, and the last is the data cable. If the power cable and IEEE394 cables are connected, but the data cable is not fully seated, you will see power from the optical output and the 394 port will work, but the inputs and outputs will not work or be seen by the Windows mixer.
I would definitely try reseating that data cable. Also make sure that none of the pins are bent. If that doesn't work, you may want to try moving the card to different slots.
