Blank timeline panel.

I'm using Premiere Pro CS4 on Windows XP. The timeline panel is blank, no lines or words or anything, blank as in not turned on, and I can't figure out how to activate it. I can't drag video clips from the project panel to the timeline panel either.

You will also find links to many
free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.
Cheers

  • Premiere Pro CC Feature Request: Shortcut for 'Close Other Timeline Panels'

I'm about to post a feature request, but wanted to see if anyone else is interested in this request too. Adobe told me that getting support on the forum first is a good way to push the request through.
    Here's the very simple FR:
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature:
Keyboard Shortcut for 'Close Other Timeline Panels'
How would you like the feature to work?
It was a great touch to add this contextual menu item to Premiere Pro CC, but it's a little clunky without being able to assign a keyboard shortcut to it.
It's usage would simply close every other Timeline Panel except the active one upon pressing the shortcut.
The default could be something not currently in use like Ctrl+Cmd+W (since CMD+W closes the active panel), but customisable in the Keyboard Shortcuts panel.
Why is this feature important to you?
This is something I have to do very frequently while editing, and since I (and many others) edit largely with the keyboard, a shortcut would be very useful and speed up workflow just a tiny bit.
Anyone else interested in this (admittedly fairly boring) feature request, let me know!
    Thanks!

Thanks for the support and video Kevin!
cscooper2013: I totally agree with you, I can't see any reason why any action should be exluded from having a shortcut. I've submitted this simple request because I feel like it's more likely to get done on it's own.
Maybe make a separate FR for that?

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Editing audio in a Timeline panel

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/editing-audio-timeline-panel.html

Or, go into the audio units format of the timeline and manually adjust the audio portion of the cut to hit as close to a zero crossing as possible. Jim's way is the easiest, and sufficient for most people, but if you need perfect cuts and not a quick fade, it is possible to do it in Premiere Pro.

  • Slow gui redraws in timeline panel

    Hi everyone,
After Effects is an absolute pleasure working with and it is one of the most used Softwares in our Animation Studio.
As compositing lead I'd like to ask a performance related question, that would greatly improve our speed.
We work on Workstations, that apart from single core performance are quite fast as I would think. (see above)
Working in the timeline panel with dozents (hundrets) of layers though is quite slow and laggs when the left part (with all the text, blendmodes etc) has to be redrawn.
Interestingly it is not the amount of layers that is crucial: Havin 50 Layers is as slow as having 200 Layers. The amount that is shown slows the redraw down.
Turning off columns eg layer colors, blendmodes, etc speeds up the redraw considerably, but is not an option since its slows or workflow. Decreasing the size of the panel speeds it up considerably, but we need the overview.
Now I would think the graphics cards we have are quite top tier and suspect opengl performance would be the crucial factor here. Though I also read somewhere these redraws are  dependent on cpu single-core performance.
My question now is quite simple: I would think redrawing gui or parts of it even if there are lots of texts and buttons on it would be feasable and fast on such systems. Is there something we can do to improve the performance? Loosing parts of seconds and seconds everytime we scroll or click on layers adds up to a lot of time (and ultimately frustration ;-) )
    Looking forward to your replies!
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Szalam,
We dont have the cards in the same workstation. I meant we have both type of cards on different systems. Both have the lags.
I am talking about split second lags .. when i scroll up and down for example, it updates the panel every half second or so.
When there are only few layers in the timeline panel it updates it instantaneously and probably dozents of times per second. (selecting, expanding, etc)
Timeline panels refreshing every half second doesnt seem like much of a lag, but makes working on large comps quite unprecise in our experience ;-)
Actually this thread I found states our problem exactly (though no solution):
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5300130
One thing I noticed is that one cpu-core goes up to a hundred percent when scrolling the timeline on large (simple!) comps. Is this the problem, that the updates cant be calculated fast enough by the cpu? We also have workstations with single-core speeds of 3,6ghz, they have the same problem... mh
    Thank you!

  • How to restore original Premiere Pro CC interface and how to drag video to timeline panel?

The trial version I downloaded does not have the video and audio tracks on the timeline panel. I tried playing around to find them but this is what happened instead.
May I know how to restore the original interface?
Also, how do I drag videos to the timeline panel when it does not have any audio or video track line that I can work with, unlike the CS6 version I was using?
    Thank you.

    Hi Erica,
    To restore:
From the menu items choose  Window > Workspace> Reset Workspace
To add video to the Timeline:
Select File > New > Sequence and create a sequence. Drag video to new sequence.
    or
In the Project panel, drag your video to the New Item . This will create a sequence that best matches your clips properties.

  • Timeline panel issues

Hi - hoping someone can help here.
    1. I recently "bumped" the timeline panel such that it is no longer nicely seated in the usual position. I have tried dragging it around but it just won't "slot" into position. The problem with this is that I can't use the entire workspace efficiently
    2. Can someone tell me whet the vertical blue shaded bar is, about 2/3 of the way across the timeline?
    Thanks in ad advance!
    Jacques

    Thank you so much!
Any chance you know the answer to my second question about the blue shaded column under one of my video layers?

  • CS5 Timeline Panel Question.

Seems I always have a few stray "timeline no sequence tabs" in my timeline panel whenever I start a new project. Anybody know the reason for that? Only a minor annoyance to x them out. But what might I be doing to cause this?
    TIA points will awarded.

Right. I think this only affects new projects; if you were to open a project that only has one sequence after your project with six sequences, you'd get only one sequence tab. However, creating a new project would create a timeline panel with as many sequence tabs as were open in the previous project.
Note that this also affects the Project Panel: if you open bins into tabs, you'll get much the same behavior. Drove me crazy the first time I saw it--my new project opened up with something like 8 Project Panel tabs!
Thanks for the points. I think I'll redeem them for a milkshake.

  • Yellow Line below Work Area in Timeline Panel

I know that a red line below the work area in the timeline panel means that rendering preview files is necessary before playback, and that a green line means that rendering preview files is completed.
Can someone fill me in as to what a yellow line means. Clips seem to playback without difficulty when the line is yellow and the sequence imports into Adobe Encore without difficulty.
    Thanks.

As per Curt's answer, you might want to compare your Project/Sequence Presets, and the specs. of those Assets. They should match. If you need help getting the exact specs. of those files, Properties Panel should help you. If not, G-Spot will likely give you all you need.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Timeline Panel

After changing the layer to smart object, the position keyframe is gone. Transform is replaced. All the keyframe in position is gone too but the layer is still moving. Are we able to keyframe the position and transformation at the same time?

solved, I deleted the configuration.xml file and restarted
    flash :)

  • In the Animation Timeline panel menu "create frames from layers" is not showing.

I am watching a tutorial on basic animation and when it gets to the point where they say to open the "Animation Timeline Panel Menu" the panel that opens for me is not the same one in the tutorial.  I am supposed to click on "create frames from layers" but that is not an option.  I'm confused as to why my panel is not the same as the one in the tutorial.

It could be that you are using a different version of photoshop. Some of the older versions were split into two versions a standard version and an extended version, in most of those versions, it was required to have the extended version to use video editing features.
Perhaps you could tell us what version of photoshop you have and what operating system.

  • Premiere Pro - timeline panel problem

Recently, I first install the premiere pro into my my PC wint window 8, after I import the video clip, but I could not drag that video into the timeline panel for editing

In order to get you clips on the timeline you need to make a sequence first.
Quickest way to do this is:

  • My CS5 Dreamweaver has a blank Browserlab panel, are there settings to correct this?

I recently had to upgrade my operating system from 32-bit Windows 7 to 64-bit Windows 7 to get Flash Catalyst to work. After re-installing the CS5 Creative Master Suite, I cannot get to the Browserlab. The Browserlab panel is completely blank in Dreanweaver. Are there settings anywhere I can change to re-connect? It was working in the original setup under Windowss 7 32-bit.

What URL address do you use when you're still creating something on your computer? I can sign in to Browserlab, but you cannot browse your computer to let the program find it. I tried starting with "c:/" and it did not work. I also tried "file://" and "file://c:". Nothing works.

  • Blank tool panels?

I'm running Fireworks cs5 on a mac, OS 10.6.4. Installed as a trial to full version via serial #.
Fairly consistently during designs, I will open the Properties panel to find it completely blank. All the usual, obvious things have been tried, ie closing/reopening panel (I have panels set to auto-collapse), clicking within the blank panel, selecting things on the artboard, etc.
Now this morning the kuler panel went blank. See image. Up until then it had just been the properties panel.
The only remedy is to quit FW and then restart. But of course, at some point I'll get a blank panel again and have to restart again.
I've reinstalled FW but blank panels remain. Am I the only one experiencing this? Searching online for similar problems gets almost no results.
    Thanks

This is a generic occurance on any program on windows basically asking you not to touch it until it has figured it out. It is a result usually of system resources being too low, meaning you need to upgrade your computer ideally in order to see less of the problem. If you press Ctrl+k, it prings up preferences. goto the Preformance panle, and if you can, set the memory usage for photoshop to what it says is an ideal range above it. This could help if you don't have anything else running with photoshop. Note that you must restart photoshop for the options to take effect here.
Also note that interactiing excessivly with windows during a "program not responding" period can cause the program to completely fail and loose your work. It is best to leave it along until it goes back to normal, then quickly save your work, then keep working.
