Blending objects around a polygon

Hi,
Is there any way in indesign to blend the objects around a rectangle, circle, polygon etc (like in corel draw) ?
Is there any to create custom presets for strokes which should take any kind of objects ?
I require it for creating attractive frame borders

Yeah, looking at the sample file that you posted, you want to use Adobe Illustrator brushes to achieve that result. Here's a free video you can watch on how to do it http://tinyurl.com/myu5r2f. Once you create the artwork, you can place it into your InDesign file as a graphic.

  • Distributing objects around a circle

    Hi everyone,
    I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I post it to a wrong section.
    I'm a begginer with Illustrator and I've got a problem with distributing objects around a circle in Illustrator cs6.
    What I'm trying to do is to have these acrhed lines (as per the top three curves you can see below) go around a circle, surrounding it (don't know if i explain myself good...). I was using both blend tool and rotate tool and it doesnt work for me the way I want it. All the time its sort of upside down at the bottom of the cirle and totaly twisted on the left and right... I guess im doing smth wrong, but I just can't find anything helpfull on web..
    Would appreciate it a lot if you could helo me!
    Thanks in advance and sorry for my English, its not my 1st language.

    Cat Nat,
    A completely different way, which may be (un)usable for your purpose is to create the circle with a Stroke Weight corresponding to the width of the arched lines and then in the Stroke palette/panel  apply Dashed line with Round Caps and suitable Dash and Gap values (you may try different values until you get it right).
    You may use the free Adjust Dashes script available here,
    http://park12.wakwak.com/~shp/lc/et/en_aics_script.html
    to get an even distribution/final adjustment.

  • Rotate a Object Around Center Axis

    Hey peoples, new to flash here.  I'm using CS3 with ActionScript 3.0.  What I want is simple, and I've done some searching but nothing that can get me the right results.  I'm going to post a link that does exactly what I want:
    http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/d25a3dd46f2ff49f2ec892c425cbbd1e
    This rotates the circular object around a center point in a way that you can distort the object yet is still remains turning in a circular motion.  A simple motion tween rotating the image will only work if the object is perfectly round, so distorting the object to make it more straight or curved won't work with a simple tween.  I want to do exactly what is happening here (with my own object), is there some AS3 behind the scenes here making this turn on a center point??  Thanks for the help

    Yes, but I still don't know what you mean by the parent child relationship.  Lets say I use a simple rotate line like:
    objectname.rotation = 360;
    That should spin it, but how do I spin it correctly if the object is skewed like in the bottom right picture of my example?

  • How to always rotate objects around the same point, even using the right-click menu?

    I need some of my objects to always rotate around the same point. How can I select a point which will stay that way?
    Using the rotate tool resets after deselecting.
    Also, I'd like to rotate objects around a certain point even when using the right click > Transform > Rotate.
    Is it possible?

    Right, so this is where Illustrator falls short with respect you your need, but only in the sense that the reference point can't be made to stick. You can, however, use Smart Guides to make it so the point is easy to set at exactly the same location, (especially since your object has an anchor point there), manually before each rotation.

  • Distributing objects around circle

    I am working on Mac OS 10.4.11 and Adobe CS3 ME.
    I know it's possible to evenly distribute objects in a line. But I would like to evenly distribute objects in a circle shape. Can that be done in Indesign or Illustrator?

    Yes, it can be done in either InDesign or Illustrator.
    I'm going to give you the steps in InDesign, but Illustrator is almost identical.
    First draw the shape that you want to distribute. Position it where you would want the top or 12 o'clock item.
    Now, switch to the Rotate tool. As you do, a rotation center point appears inside the bounding box of the original object.
    This center point needs to be moved to the center of the circle that you want to rotate the object around. (Or where the hands of the clock would originate from.)
    Hold the Option or Alt key and click where the roatation center point needs to be.
    A dialog box appears.
    Enter the angle of roation. This is usually an amount that is created by dividing 360. For instance, if you want 10 objects around the circle, you would enter the rotation amount of 36 degrees.
    If you wanted 12 objects, you would enter the rotation amount of 30 degrees. You figure out what you want.
    Use the Preview amount to see what it would look like. When you like what you have, click the Copy button (not the OK button).
    You will now have one new object in position. At this point you have "primed the pump" so to speak. InDesign now knows to make a copy at a certain rotation.
    Go to Object > Transform Again > Transform Again. The keyboard shortcut is Cmd-Opt-3 or Control-Alt-3.
    Each time you invoke the command, a new copy appears in position.
    This is the classic way to distribute objects in a circle.
    There are other ways to do it that would put the object around an actual circular object.
    But you might as well learn this one first.

  • How do I view page margins and drag objects around to fit?

    How do I view page margins and drag objects around to fit?

    Hi Sime,
    Some ideas for workarounds now that Numbers 3 has lost Page Setup, Print View and Layout View.
    1. Numbers 2.3 is still on your computer unless you deleted it. Look in your Applications folder for the iWork '09 folder. Drag the Numbers '09 (Numbers 2) icon to your Dock. It will become an Alias. Right click (or control click) on it then Options > Keep in Dock. You might actually enjoy running both versions at the same time, to compare features. Just be careful which version you are running before you edit and save.
    2. Use Numbers 3 to export a document 'backwards' to Numbers 2. Be aware that features lost in Numbers 3 may not be restored by exporting 'backwards' to Numbers 2.
    3. In Numbers 3 > Preferences > Rulers
    Those Guides help you to align objects with each other.
    4. Menu > View > Show Rulers. This will show zero for the top or right left margin. Then drag a ruler guide from top or left.

  • Keep an object around for the life of the server?

    I need to keep some objects around for the entire life of the server.
    However would I make sure of that? In other words, how do I prevent them
    being gc'd?
    TIA,
    Bill

    Say I have a singleton. If it wasn't in a app server, I can, for example,
    have it instaniated in the main and hold the ref there. But in the app
    server, wouldn't such a singleton subject to gc since no one is holding the
    ref if no one is using it at the moment? If so, the re-instantiation can be
    quite expensive. How can I make sure that doesn't happen?

    If you hot-deploy your application, but you don't want your mentioned
    objects to be destroyed, put the classes in a jar in the server classpath.
    If they are in your application's ear or war, they will be destroyed and

    If you don't hot-deploy, you don't need to care about.

  • Javascript function to rotate an object around its axis

    Hello,
    I wonder if it is possible to rotate an object around its axis (eg 45 ° rotation)?
    I want to make this rotation with a button and a Javascript code!
    Is it possible? if so, have a track for me to start?
    thank you

    Possible, yes - but you will need some basic knowledge of how 3D matrix transformations work if you want to do anything complex.
    The code to rotate a node in a 3D scene by 45 degrees on the X axis is
    myNode.transform.rotateAboutXInPlace(Math.PI/4)

  • Dragging Object Around Circle in Flash with ActionScript 3

    I created a blog post that demonstrates how to make it work:
    http://flashascript.wordpress.com/2011/01/01/dragging-object-around-circle-in-flash-with-a ctionscript-3/

    Ok... I put that code in my flash project and verified that
    there are no errors in the code itself. However, when I try to test
    the movie I get the following error:
    Warning: Action on button or MovieClip instances are not
    supported in Action Script 3.0. All scripts on object instances

    Thus, when I do a mouse over on that particular country on

  • Strange rendering while rotating blended objects...

    Hello,
    I have a problem (I posted it also elsewhere but hoping for broader solution). I am creating a simulation application with cylindrical object representing glass which are moved around and rotated. When such glassy object is inside another while rotating the world it seems like its surface is inverting. I have prepared simplified example of this (http://zdch.amu.edu.pl/director/pr4.html, http://zdch.amu.edu.pl/director/pr4.dir) with a stack of cylinders with blend 60 that are in interposition with another cylinder. During animation, when seen at front for some short time one can notice a change (http://zdch.amu.edu.pl/director/Picture.png) half of the cylinders in the stack are in front of the big one and three steps further they are in the back while the other half of the stack appears in the front. As far as I tested it doesn't depend on the renderer. It may be reproduced with this code in two following frames and a 3dworld...
    first frame:
    on exitFrame me
      wd=sprite(2).member
      member(1).resetworld()
      mr=sprite(2).member.newmodelresource("mr", #cylinder, #both)
      mr.bottomRadius = 5
      mr.topRadius = 5
      mr.height = 30
      mm=wd.newmodel("ml", mr)
      mm.transform.position=vector(0,0,0)
      mm.transform.scale=vector(5,5,5)
      ml=list()
      wd.shader[1].blend=60
      repeat with a=1 to 10
        ml[a]=wd.newmodel("ml"&a, mr)
        ml[a].transform.position=vector(25,a*15-100,0)
        ml[a].transform.scale=vector(5,0.5,5)
      end repeat
    end
    second frame:
    on exitFrame me   member("lab").camera(1).rotate(vector(1,0,0),#world)
    go to the frame
    end
    Thank you for help or comments
    Nikodem

    Hi Niko,
    You're facing the "famous" Z-buffer fighting in Shockwave 3D.
    In a few words: to speed up the rendering, the 3D engine is performing a "per model" sorting instead of "per polygon" sorting.
    The good part: faster rendering
    The bad part: wrong sorting in case of (semi) transparent shaders (materials).
    There're 2 workarounds to get rid of this annoying thing:
    1) to "explode" the 3d models into a few parts to get more pivots (and better sorting):
    http://necromanthus.com/Games/ShockWave/tutorials/Z-buffer.html
    2) to use additive blending (presuming your example has a didactical purpose):
    http://necromanthus.com/Games/ShockWave/tutorials/Additive_Blending.html
    good luck.

  • Best way to MouseDrag multiple objects around a scene.

    So I am having a little trouble trying to drag 3 Box's in a scene.
    Originally I had it set up where each was relocated to an x,y translated Z and set to a HWD. Then I figured I would, instead of the mouse click on the box itself, be in the root. From there I would look through all of the root.getChildren() then made that see if it contained the x,y position.
    Then from knowing which of my root Children I clicked I did root.getChildren.get(current).setOnDragged to figure out which one was dragged.
    The code itself worked except for finding which box I was on.
    The issue I find is that I onyl have getX, getSceneX, and getScreenX. X, and SceneX produce the same value, and ScreenX is useless. I tried then to do event.getX() - root.getLayoutX() to make the contains function to work, but it wasn't working and would require me to change up more things. getLayoutX() was = 0 since I didn't set the root location, only the locations of the box's.
    From there I kept wondering if there was a better way. Then I thought maybe to loop through every element in my root or in an arrayList(Which is what I used, but realized the root.getchildren should work like the original) but the problem is it keeps only registering the last one in the list, so it just loops and that's it.
    So what I want to know is, what would be the best way to figure out what object I'm in?
    Originally I use the contains(Swing) but Swing is different, and now especially since we can register mouseEvents to each node, shouldn't we know exactly which one we are on, just by looping through each of them? I figure that's easier than having to check every single mouse position contained within, especially if I have 10000 things to check?

    I slightly modified your code for 3D.
    - added a pointlight
    - added a phong material
    - the rectangle changed to a box
    - the circle changed to a sphere
    - add scene.setCamera(new PerspectiveCamera(false));
    Without the last line it is not working.
    I tested it with javafx8.0 build 80 Netbean7.3

  • Moving objects around the page

    I want to design a 'spider-gram' using objects in Pages but I find I can't drag the circle and position it in the centre of the page. What am I doing wrong?

    Just insert the arrows as you did with the circle, making sure the text layer is not selected by clicking outside of the layout area first. You can add as many arrows as you'd like or just add one & duplicate it so that it is the same color, length, etc. Assuming these arrows will be set around the outside of the circle, you will want to rotate them using the metrics inspector. You can get precise degrees of rotation by typing a number in the box at the bottom of that inspector. Then move them to touch the circle. Once you get them all placed as you'd like you want to selected all of them & group them. If these are the only graphic elements in the document you can Select All from the Edit menu. Otherwise, click outside the layout area & drag the cursor until you see handles on all of the objects. Now, got to Arrange > Group & they will become one object, easier for any further moving around.

  • Uneven Distribution of Objects Around a Circle

    Hi,
    I'm trying to figure out a way to distribute objects in a circle but make them uneven. Well, "uneven" in that the objects begin to space out more as they approach the top of the circle like the sample shown. I know how to distribute object evenly but I'm stumped on how to make this happen. Any ideas as to how this can be achieved? Blend and Spine? Transforms?

  • Blending Objects - i.e. strawberry to jar of jam

    I am using Illustrator CS3, in Windows Vista. I once saw instructions to blend a large strawberry into a jar of strawberry jam, sort of left to right across the page starting with the strawberry and ending up with a jar of jam... I can't remember where I saw it, or how to do it.
    I've checked out the 'help' files, but 'blend' or 'make blend' doesn't work. I have two objects which are photos... I saved them in Photoshop as .psd files and placed them into AI... made the backgrounds transparent... but I can't get them to blend - one is a pic of my husband's face, the other is a pic of an apple. He eats so many apples I think he just may turn into an apple! Hence the reason for wanting to do this... please help!!!
    Thanks,

    Blend only works on vector paths. Read the help files more carefully. Or look into Morphing plug-ins for Photoshop or stand-alone programs. That's more likely to be the solution you're looking for.
