BLOB CLOB IN JDBC With JDriver for Weblogic

Hi
I am trying to use BLOB columns in Oracle DB with JDBC JDriver for Weblogic. This JDriver is a JDBC 2.0 Driver.
I am able to insert a EMPTY_BLOB() column but not able to update the same.
I get the following exception:
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-03115: unsupported network datatype or representation
when i attempt to SELECT the BLOB column for Update.
Can anybody help.
Thanks in Advance.

  • Setting isolation level with JDriver for Oracle/XA

    edocs (http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/oracle/trxjdbcx.html#1080746) states that,
if using jDriver for Oracle/XA you can not set the transaction isolation level
for a transaction and that 'Transactions use the transaction isolation level set
on the connection or the default transaction isolation level for the database'.
Does this mean that you shouldn't try to set it programatically (fair enough)
or that you can't set it in the weblogic deployment descriptor either? Also anybody
got any idea what the default is likely to be if you are using an Oracle 9iR2
database? Is this determined by some database setting?

however, for oracle it may not be helpful to change it. Oracle provides two
isolation levels. The default is always READ_COMMITTED. The other
setting is SERIALIZABLE, but this hurts performance, and is also problematic
in the way oracle implements it. For instance, even if you set SERIALIZABLE,
oracle will not lock read data. It will allow other transactions to read and/or
alter data trhat another ongoing SERIALIZABLE transaction has read. The
only way to really lock read data in oracle is to issue oracle-specific SQL in
your select: "SELECT ..... FOR UPDATE".
All in all, you should collect a strong case for why you can't proceed with
READ_COMMITTED first. Then you should research oracle's recommendations
(and their problem record) with SERIALIZABLE.

  • JDBC CONNECTION POOL FOR WEBLOGIC 8.1 TO ORACLE 8.1.6

I am having problems with my connection pool. When I try to use the classes12 driver I get periodic TNS:connection closed errors and I can not set my initial pool size very high because one will fail with this error. When I try to use the ojdbc14 driver I get a character set not supported error. I am using the nls_charset12.jar file
I am running weblogic 8.1 sp2. I am connecting to an Oracle 8.1.6 database.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi, thanks for your assistance. Here is the log dump. You should add a 1-second login delay for the pool. (loginDelaySeconds=1).
Oracle can get swamped and ocasionally fail valid connection requests if
too many are sent in a short time, such as when a pool is being initially
populated. This setting will put a delay between successive connection
requests, and should solve the problem.

  • JDBC TX Settings for Weblogic Portal Content Repo Datasources

I have a scenario where I require two WLP content stores for the application. If I set the individual datasources to Support Global Transactions = True, then the application throws TX errors: ...Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Connection has already been created in this tx context for pool named PMRestDataSource. Illegal attempt to create connection from another pool: portalDataSource.
What I did to solve this was isolate the Content Repo datasource from the portalDataSource (in fact, it is in a separate database schema from the portal framework artifacts in the Production environment), and set both of the Content-specific datasources to Support Global Transactions = False that fixed the issue.
The question I have is this: Is there any reason I need TX support for datasources that exclusively support connecting to a WLP Content Store?

    Hi Rahul,
Did you try the Bulk Import option in Workshop / Service Bus Console for the WSDL? Generally, this takes care of the dependent resources
    For Bulk Import, you can:
    a. From Editor:
    1. Select a Project and then a folder > right click > select Import > Oracle Service Bus - Resources from URL
    2. Give the URL of the WSDL file (I guess it would be http://10.131.29.86:7001/ServiceWeb/MailingListServiceService?WSDL), a resource name, and select WSDL from the drop down
    3. Click on Next / Finish. I believe the editor does an introspection, finds the dependent resources (if the exists, see additional comments below) and imports them into the environment
    b. From OSB Web Console
    1. Start a session
    2. Go To create New Resource and Select Bulk Imports. Rest of the steps remains the same
Additionally, you may also want to check:
    a. Whether the xsd document mentioned in the import statement is accessable. For this, from your development environment, open a web browser and type in the URL (ei. http://10.131.29.86:7001/ServiceWeb/MailingListServiceService?xsd=1). If it is accessable, you may want to save it for manual referencing, in case Bulk Import does not work
    b. Check if the XSD file thus obtained has any other import statements, refering to some other schemas. In that case, you may have to repeat the exercise for all dependent schemas, till you have covered the list.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vivek

  • Best Practices for JDBC with RAC Oracle Thin Driver non-XA Weblogic

Does anyone have experience on setting up your application server's JDBC connection pools for RAC?
We are using Weblogic 10 which supports load-balancing between connection pools at the application level, but I believe the listener is load-balanced on the Oracle CRS side as well.
    Is this recommended / not-recommended?

We use JDBC connection pool. However the load balance
configured at the database. JDBC uses load_balance=on

  • Configuring Weblogic's jDriver for Oracle to use in distributed transactions

Here is some errata to the instructions at "Configuring XA JDBC drivers" section of the online beta documentation:
              http://www.weblogic.com/docs60/adminguide/managetx.html#1041268
The sample JDBC connection pool using Weblogic jDriver for Oracle should be:

Here is an example of an additional XA connection pool for a second database instance:
              <JDBCConnectionPool

Please note the different "rmid" values for the 2 different database instances. Note also that the above sample only applies for Beta 1. Instructions may change in the future for Beta 2.
Also, all the names of the data source properties shown in "Table 8-2 Data Source Properties for WebLogic jDriver for Oracle" should start with lower case.
The Beta 1 online documentation will soon be updated to reflect the above. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

  • JDBC 2.0 method not implemented error using bea jDriver for MS-SQLServer 2000

I'm trying to reconfigure WebLogic Portal 7.0 (Platform 7.0 SP2) to run on MS SQLServer

by Portal, hence I'm using the BEA jDriver for SQLServer.
I'm now getting the following error when starting up Weblogic Portal which requires

Has anyone else come across this problem and know how to resolve it. I have tried
using the MS JDBC Driver on the off chance that it would work, but this also produced
SQL Exceptions with the persistance store and would not work at all even after
    syncing with the EBCC

    Jim,
Thanks, I'm awaiting for my account to be enabled with customer contract support.
When this is done I will raise a case and send files as requested.
In the mean time it's worth noting that these settings have been made. Connection
to the DB is fine, the createDB, loadads, loaddocs and sync etc all worked fine.
The problem only exists when restarting the server and the portal persistance
store is trying to be refereshed. Once EBCC is re-synced all the DB access works
    fine.

  • JDriver and weblogic.jar for the wlserver 6.1 sp2

    Hi all,
After I download the jDriver for Ms sql 2000 server, I set the classpath as
    document told, I test
it using the utils.dbping it works fine. But when I try to use it with the weblogic
    server 6.1
I have the problem as following:
I included the jDriver classes in the classpath of the startWeblogic.cmd as
    set CLASSPATH=.;.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;.\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\weblogic\mssqlserver4v70\classes
    saved the startWeblogic.cmd file
Then I start the wls with startWeblogic.cmd(the new classpath). It starts fine
Then I setup the connection sql pool using the weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver
    It says "No suitable driver"
I found that in the weblogic.jar(shipped with the weblogic 6.1) and in the jDriver
classes, there are two files which have the same name is weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver.
    Because in the classpath
.\lib\weblogic.jar comes first so weblogic server takes weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver
of the weblogic.jar rather than in the jDriver classes directory. So I thought
the matter of changing the order in the classpath (.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;C:\weblogic\mssqlserver4v70\classes;.\lib\weblogic.jar")
will solve the problem, but when I changed the oder in the classpath the weblogic
server did not start AT ALL with the following errror.
    ------------------Begin error----------------------------
    C:\bea\wlserver6.1>"C:\bea\jdk131\bin\java" -hotspot -ms64m -mx64m -classpath

I wonder how can I use the jDriver with weblogic server?
Do you have any idea what I have done wrong or how to get around with this problem?
    Please help
    Thanks in advance

    It works now.
    Thanks Laurent.

  • BEA WebLogic jDriver for Microsoft SQL Server

Will BEA continue to support current and future installations of WebLogic jDriver for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 even though BEA recommends to use the JDBC driver available from Microsoft? A written response is necessary in order to determine our future product development direction.
Thank you for your attention regarding this matter.

Actually, this driver is already documented as deprecated. We intended to remove it from a future
release (most likely, the release after WLS 8.1).
The plan is to ship another driver out-of-the-box. We have been evaluating various drivers
for features, quality, and performance. We are pushing very hard to have this replacement
driver available in 8.1SP01, which will also ship with the WLI/Portal/WLW GA (announced to
ship in July). The most likely candidate is already in testing both at the WLS level and
with the layered products. It also did quite well in an internal performance comparison.

Thank you for your attention regarding this matter.Hi. We intend to deprecate it. We may or may not fix bugs that are found in it in future, and will likely
not do any more development on it, such as implementing any JDBC 2.0 methods. It will be in
our next major release (8), but may not be in future ones.

    Hi,
I think the error is pretty clear: Make sure that you have a valid
license file in your bea directory, it should be named "license.bea".
You need a license for using the jDriver.

Yes, you have to specify it as java.sql.Types.OTHER and use the
    getObject() method to obtain it.

I had already created the ssl-jdbc connections for Weblogic 9.2 with Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 based on the documents above.
    My questions
    1. the connections are not using the desired ports. The TCP listener is using 1521, and TCPS listener is using 1522, and 2484. However the connections do not use the configured ports. Is it normal?
    2. If using the unassigned port is the normal case, where can I limit the port range?
    3. How to prove the connections are in SSL?
