Blob in classic report - broken images in translated application

Hello,
I have an application containing a classic report with a blob column displayed as inline images. The application's UI is translated and published (from en to de in my case) according to APEX docu. Everything seems to work fine so far but all classic reports with blobs show broken images in the translated application.
The report query is something like:
SELECT  IMAGE_NAME,
        CATALOG_MIME,
        CATALOG_FILENAME,
        CATALOG_LAST_UPD,
        ID,
        dbms_lob.getlength(CATALOG_IMAGE) CATALOG_IMAGE
FROM    IMAGE imgThe images are displayed by using the format mask "IMAGE:....inline" on the CATALOG_IMAGE column and the generated image URLs (<img src="...">) look like this:
In primary language (App ID 251, working): http://server/pls/apex/apex_util.get_blob?s=724178467531162&a=251&c=6844840372320206&p=5305&k1=288447&k2=&ck=7475F2F4A0CFA99CC137C9F9008CE3F9&rt=CR
In translated app (App ID 151, broken images): http://server/pls/apex/apex_util.get_blob?s=724178467531162&a=251&c=6844840372320206,151&p=5305&k1=288447&k2=&ck=4576169EC6C9645C83E321610FE4BE6B&rt=CR
Also by entering the broken image URL directly the server says: "The requested URL /pls/apex/apex_util.get_blob was not found on this server."
Is this a bug in APEX (using 3.1.2), anyone else encountered this? Is there a solution or workaround?
Thanks for infos,
Stefan

Follow-up by myself:
I found a workaround for this by using the apex_util.get_blob_file_src function instead of declarative blob support. The code generated by this seems to work also in the translated application.
Btw, the original problem remains in APEX 3.2, as just tested at apex.oracle.com. I've made a test comparing declarative blob support to apex_util.get_blob_file_src in the sample application in my workspace (SMEINDL), application id 50912, page 3 (products). If anyone is interested, please have a look at it.

  • Broken Images in XE Application

I have a form that uploads photos (jpegs) for the most part its working fine.
However, lately I am seeing 1/2 to 3/4 of the photo.
It was discovered using Oracle Reports. The data from XE is loaded into tables on our network. I created a report (PDF) displaying the data and pictures from the XE application.
Oracle Reports is giving me a REP-1818 error. Some reports work fine with pictures. The ones that are not working, I loaded from the table to the file server and viewed them. That's when I found that 3 of the 5 pictures are incomplete (broken).
What is the cause of broken images?

  • Viewing a BLOB Data (Including Compressed Data) in Classic Report APEX 3.2

    Hi All,
I have a table with a BLOB field.
That blob field is containing image with .tiff format.
I need to display those images in APEX 3.2 Classic Report.
Am able to achieve this by following the instructions in the below link.
    http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/db/apex/r31/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm#t4
Now my problem is, Some of the image in my table is in compressed format.
So those images are not displaying in the report, rather it is giving a message called 'No Preview Available'.
How can i extract those images and display in the Classic Report.
Please help me to achieve this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sakthi.

What kind of compression are we talking about here ?
    <li>If its some kind of native image compression methods, then you could try the ORDImage utlity, here's a thread which discusses that : {thread:id=1048248}
If its compressed using zip or some file compression utility, you may need to load the java code(into the DB) that can uncompress it for you and then call it from procedure which then uncompress'es it(using java class) and then send it back as an image(programmatic way way of showing images in apex).
There posts should be of assistance
<li>Extract XML from docx . Forget the post title , this post has some code which uncompresses a zip file in the database(ignore the rest of the post, if irrelevant).
<li>Another posting about the same requirement, but with code for unzipping which you can adapt
<li>If you are not in a hurry, this Oracle-Sun Java documentation explains the whole process of compression/uncompression with code that you can process within the database(from PLSQL using java wrapper)
<li>The simplest is the PLSQL Package UTL_COMPRESS utility (also ) , which wouldn't need any extra coding for compressing/uncompressing binary data.this<a/>) , which wouldn't need any extra coding for compressing/uncompressing binary data.

  • Display image in classical report

    Experts,
Please share how to display image stored in SO10 in to a  classical report??

    Hi
    check this
In the transaction OAOR, you should be able to insert your company Logo.
GOTO - OAOR (Business Document Navigator)
Give Class Name - PICTURES Class Type - OT..... then Execute
It will show you the list, then select ENJOYSAP_LOGO.
On that list, you will find one control with a "create" tab.
    Click std. doc types.
    Select SCREEN and double-click.
It will push FILE selection screen.
Select your company logo (.gif) and press OK.
It will ask for a description- for instance: "company logo".
It will let you know your doc has been stored successfully.
You can find your logo under ENJOYSAP_LOGO->Screen->company logo.
Just run your ALV program, you should find your company logo in place of the EnjoySAP logo.
    FORM TOP-OF-PAGE.
    CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_COMMENTARY_WRITE'

  • Problem with download link for a BLOB Column in a "Classic report"

I am having a problem where I cannot make a download link for a blob column function in a "classic" (non-interactive) report. I went through the tutorial on this topic and it was great help it working out the minor bugs, but I get a 404 error (apex_util.get_BLOB not found). For testing purposes I went ahead and created a an identical report on the same page that is an "Interactive report" and it works like a charm. Same query, same BLOB formatting Mask, pulling data from the same table. So, it really doesn't seem like an issue with the grants, since both reports should be executing as the same user.
I know it sounds like the obvious answer is to just go with the interactive report and my problem is solved, but the rest of this site uses classic reports, and I don't need the sort features of an interactive report, and the slightly different style of the the report really stands out even if I turn off all the bells and whistles. I don't want to change the css to make them look identical, I just want a regular report to work.

I eventually found another post: APEX_UTIL.GET_BLOB was not found on this server
In this post there is the suggestion of putting "dbms_lob.getlength("var")" after the date field in your select. So I changed my query to have it at the end, and now my format mask (DOWNLOAD:table_name:ATTACHED_FILE:FILE_ID::FILE_MIME_TYPE:FILE_NAME:::attachment:Download) works like a charm, in a classic report.

  • BLOB download from report region in translated application does not work

We created an application (APEX 3.1.2) with a base language dutch (300) and a translated application en-uk (3001). The problem is that in the translated application downloading BLOB's from a report region does not work and results in an error (page cannot be found).
The query source for the region is:
    select naam
    , dbms_lob.getlength(bestand)
    , mimetype
    from bos_documentatie
The column 'dbms_lob.getlength(filename)' is defined as a 'BLOB Download Format Mask' with the following setting:
    DOWNLOAD:BOS_DOCUMENTATIE:BESTAND:NAAM::MIMETYPE:FILENAME:::attachment:Open
The URL's to the BLOB documents are different between the dutch and en-uk application:
    dutch:
    http://nldvnr01ux002:7792/pls/xvapexd/apex_util.get_blob?s=4260101889649158&a=300&c=12455124581749125&p=1001&k1=Application Multi Language.doc&k2=&ck=A24A5EA6903C5A9603B86D30F128F4DE&rt=CR
    en-uk:
    http://nldvnr01ux002:7792/pls/xvapexd/apex_util.get_blob?s=4260101889649158&a=300&c=12455124581749125.3001&p=1001&k1=Application Multi Language.doc&k2=&ck=7FF0C64FDD48A4D7A6892CFB2B6BCA57&rt=CR
As you can see the c parameter for the en-uk version has a '.3001' at the end, the internal ID of the translated application. I don't know if this can be the cause of the problem?

    Hi Peter,
Thanks for the suggestion. However we have a lot of APEX applications build in that same APEX version (one development database) and upgrading now to a higher APEX version would mean we would have to re-test all our applications and upgrade all our test and production environments, just for this bug. And, maybe the higher APEX version may not solve our problem.
    Thanks and regards,
    Patrick

  • Display a blob column in a classic report

We are using Apex 4.0, and trying to display a blob on the report using: decode(nvl(dbms_lob.getlength(ci.photo),0),0,null,'<img src="'||apex_util.get_blob_file_src('P2_PHOTO',ci.ci_nbr)||'" height="75" width="75" />') img. What appears on the report is:
    <img src="apex_util.get_blob_file?a=101&s=4433607511119466&p=2&d=4632627567686552&i=6506227756338792&p_pk1=1202016&p_pk2=&p_ck=B45D690EDA38F565BB6AC2BC859E2F0F" height="75" width="75" />
I am following the example in apex.oracle.com, your help will be much appreciated.
    David.

Thanks for the response Jeffe, I did change the attribute to standard report column and I think it is going the right direction but now I am a blank box with a smaller box in the upper left corner with a red x in the box. If you have any ideas about this one that would be great.

  • Apex 4.0 interactive reports and images

    To the community,
I haven't had a chance to do a decent search before bed, but I was wondering if anyone had links to good examples on OTN, someone's blog, apex.oracle.com etc, but I thought I'd put the question out there overnight.
I have a table that contains my blob/mimetype/filename information, and I'd like to create a sample interactive report that displays the image in the blob in all three formats - standard interactive report, using the icon view, and using the detail view.
Note I'm not referring to images that may be in the repository or file system - but within in a table.
For whatever reasons I was losing the battle this afternoon, I was just wondering if anyone knew of good concise examples, such as this for using images in form & classic report pages.
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/apex/r31/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm
    Cheers,
    Scott

I have finally replicated the solution, with the help of the following thread
    Confusion with get_blob_file_src
found when searching "broken image" as one of the keywords.
Such a horrible and non-intuitive solution to get images displayed in an interactive report!
Hopefully the Apex team can work on improving this in future releases...

  • Link for BLOB column in report?

    Hi all,
I wonder if it is possible to declare a blob colum (displayed image) as a link.
What I try to do is to display images in a report and give the user the option to just click on the image an get a popup window where he/she can change or delete the image. As far as I have seen this is not possible with the standard link declaration. You can fill in the link parameters but this has no effect on the generated page.
    Thanks

  • Highligh current row not working for classic report in 4.1

    Hello experts,
One of our customers is migrating applications from APEX 3.0 to 4.1.
All their applications use classic reports because interactive reports didn't exist in 3.0.
The end users of the applications like the row color changing when they hover there mouse over the rows (highlight current row) and they insist on keeping this "functionality" in the applications.
For some reason, this "functionality" doesn't work anymore after the migration to APEX 4.1.
I thought it was something theme related so I created a new application with a classic report, tried some APEX built-in themes, and with none of them, I manage to get the highlight current row working.
For interactive reports it is not an issue.
Is this an undocumented no-longer-available feature of APEX 4.x or has there changed something which caused this functionality to stop working??
    Regards,
    Bart

    Hi,
I created a service request for this issue, and the support analyst that helped me confirmed that this is a bug:
"I have created the bug :
Bug 13584762 - ROW HIGHLIGHTING NO MORE WORKS IN CLASSIC REPORT IN APEX 4.1
While working on the problem , I have found the following solution in order to make the Row HighLightng work in APEX 4.1
    In the apex_4_1.min.js (file located in images\javascript ) , Search for :
    function setRowHighlight(a){apex.jQuery("#report_"+a+" .highlight-row").live("hover",function(b)
and replace "hover" by "mouseover mouseout" :
    After the modification :
    function setRowHighlight(a){apex.jQuery("#report_"+a+" .highlight-row").live("mouseover mouseout",function(b)
A refresh in the browser may be necessary in order to "reload" the file apex_4_1.min.js"
I implemented the suggested workaround and this solved the problem!
