BlueTooth Exception!

Hi,
I am looking for a way to make communication between my j2me mobile app, and my J2SE desktop app via BlueTooth,
I've imported the needed class files from JSR 82, in my desktop application, but at the head of line, where it wants to discover BT Devices around, I get an Exception!
Is it imposible to use these APIs in a Desktop application?
I've inserted the codes blow! (the BoldLine throws an BluetoothStateException)
public void scanForDevices()
try
Class.forName("javax.bluetooth.LocalDevice");
try
locDevice = LocalDevice.getLocalDevice();
agent = locDevice.getDiscoveryAgent();
agent.startInquiry( DiscoveryAgent.GIAC, new Listener() );
catch (BluetoothStateException e)
e.printStackTrace();
System.out.print(":)");
catch (Exception e)
System.out.print(":(");
Thanks.

  • Bluetooth has stopped working on iPhone 4S

    For the past week I have tried all scenarios and it didn't work for my bluetooth.  Today I have updated to the latest iOS version 7.1.1 and still no result.
    My bluetooth is not finding any devices and is running always on search mode but nothing happens and no devices found although I have two devices in range that I used to connect to for the past 2 years. I am wondering if it could be a hardware failure? But the thing is that on my other device the iPad I can see my phone device but can't connect to it. Please help! Thank you.

    If the devices that you used to connect to are not listed in the Bluetooth device area, then you need to put them back into discovery/pairing mode to connect to the iPhone. Find the user guide for whatever devices you are working with and find out how to put them into discovery/pairing mode. Once you do that, see if they show up to connect to the iPhone. Many times when you update iOS on the iPhone it will remove the ability to connect to past devices. All you have to do is put them back into discovery/pairing mode and connect again. After pairing again, they should always connect when in range.
    I missed the other question. The iPhone will not pair with the iPad in Bluetooth, except under specific circumstances, such as Personal Hotspot.

    hi can anyone help please ? i have had apple products now for apron 7 years BUT have never been able to make the bluetooth work , not even when 2 products i.e. : phone and iPod are in the same room. So i stopped trying but would like to set it up between my iMac and iphone / ipad but can't get it to work, they say discoverable but just will not connect to one another. I also tried the connection code and tried without one ... NO JOY ... Is this common or am i a twit ?

    You can't connect an iPhone or iPad to a Mac via Bluetooth, except for Internet tethering.
    You're not doing anything wrong - it just isn't a feature of iOS devices.
    What were you hoping a Bluetooth connection would allow you to do?

  • Bluetooth on my iPad doesn't accept or send anything, even when paired and turned on on both items. My iPad is only a few weeks old. What's wrong?

    I've paired by iPad with my Nokia phone. Bluetooth is turned on on both items, but when I try to send a photo from my phone to my iPad, I get a message on my phone saying "it's not supported by the other device". Is there a fault on my iPad? Or have I not set something up properly? I'm at my wit's end, as I'd like to upload photos while I'm on holiday.

    Sorted! Apparently iPad is just not geared up for Bluetooth except for keyboard and headsets!

  • Bluetooth not connecting to anything to include MAC

    New car no conectivity, 2011 ACURA MDX running the same Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR tech. Tried to connect to an actual MAC at a MAC store, same thing as they could not get it to connect. Cannot connect to a WINDOWS PC running Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR tech and last but not least, was told by ATT Friday OCT 29 that APPLE will not let me use bluetooth except for a specific ear piece that they could not get to connect at the store. Called Apple support, said they world call back because they wanted to reset phone and trouble shoot, no call back even after I called back again......... So is it the phone, ACURA says yes, the MAC store said that it is the phone and Windows said the same thing. So is there a fix? If not, may have to go with waht everyone else has recomended another phone....

    Thanks for the link been there no help since the phone should connect but doesn't. So te only indicator is that the phone is bad but based on the other discussions, more than myself are having issues with bluetooth connectivity issues and we are looking for support which we are not getting from Apple or ATT

  • Which BB's support bluetooth object push (OBEX) ??

    Hi.
    I just got a BB 8700 GSM with OS 4.2.1.  To my surprise it doesn't support the bluetooth object push profile - I thought this model did support this.  I'm used to sending files from my desktop to my phone and I find this to be very convenient.
    So, I'd like to return this BB and get one that does support this functionality.  Which models support this?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    well, you can use bluetooth for that kind of files but :
    for java applications : using a jad file, if I recall correctly you can upload it on the memory card and install. You have either to install it through the Desktop Manager or install it "over the air" using the Blackberry browser to see the jad file and compute it.
    anyway, the best applications are java applications... designed for Blackberries. And in that case they come as ALX+COD files. Can be installed using Bluetooth and the Desktop Manager.
    for documents (PDF, DOC, PPT, XLS), you need an device OS 4.5 or higher in order to be able to open a file that is on your memory card. Either it's already installed on the device you buy (that's for sure for Curve II, Pearl Flip, Bold and Storm), or you'll get a 4.2 or 4.3 OS and will have to do the upgrade yourself (provided your carrier has already released 4.5 version).
    a very important thing to know : you can't send contacts with Bluetooth, except to a car receiver.

  • Ipad air bluetooth

    How can I make the bluetooth device work on my ipad air 2 - which is brand new.

    Since you posted in the iPhone forum I'm going to guess that you are asking how to make your iPad Air connect with your iPhone via Bluetooth. If that is what you are trying to do, note that the 2 devices are not designed to pair via Bluetooth except for Personal Hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. If you are trying to use Handoff/Continuity between the 2 devices note that they do not pair for that -- Bluetooth needs to be on for both but they aren't paired.

  • Bluetooth Issues iPhone 6 & MacBook Air/ Earpiece

    Having two issues,
    1)Can't get my new iPhone 6(iOS 8.2) & my New just purchased MacBook Air to sync via bluetooth
    2)Can't get my Plantronics earpiece to sync with my iPhone 6 via bluetooth.
    Any suggestions for overcoming this obstacle would be helpful

    Re #1, the iPhone is not designed to pair (or sync) with any computer using Bluetooth except for using Personal Hotspot and will only do that if your cellular plan supports it. There are some features (e.g. Handoff) that will only work if Bluetooth is on for both devices, but they are not paired. More information: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?

  • How to connect my apple devices to each other

    My apple gadgets has problem connecting each other, i am upset in my iphone 5 and ipod nano 7th gen connecting to each other in macbook pro..
    can you give me an advice to solve this problem...

    Exactly what do you want to gain by connecting them to each other?
    Apple has never used Bluetooth except to connect to peripherals. So if you want to move data via Bluetooth between them it is not going to happen.

  • Pop up message that won't go away

    After downloading an automatic update for Microsoft Office for Mac, I lost all internet access. After 1.5 hrs with Comcast. Linxsys (my router), Microsoft, India and points closer to home, everyone said--not their fault or maybe it was the router, so...I disconnected the router (only 1 computer in the house), and connected the modem directly into the iMac. (This is between the basement (modem) and 1st floor office (computer).
    I seem to have a working Ethernet...I closed the AirPort, no bluetooth except the wireless mouse and keyboard. I keep getting an error box on my screen: "Internet Connect-Could not open the communication device." I click OK and it goes away--and..then it reappears when I click on an internet link. I definitely HAVE internet access, but the error message box keeps coming back, like Freddy.
    Please help me make it go away.

    Have you tried force quitting the Finder?
    Go to Apple menu, select Force Quit..., Click Finder, press Relaunch button
    That should clear it...

  • I bought my iPhone 5 almost an year ago and since the last 2 weeks my battery lasts about 2 hours or less, while before it lastre a whole day. Can anybody tell me why is this happening or how can i solve my problem, please? Thank you.

    I bought my iPhone 5 almost an year ago and since the last 2 weeks my battery lasts about 2 hours or less, while before it lastre a whole day. Can anybody tell me why is this happening or how can i solve my problem, please? Thank you.

    You can follow these steps to save battery.
    1. Turn on Auto-Brightness - The iPhone has an ambient light sensor that adjusts the brightness of the screen based on the light around it (darker in dark places, brighter when there's more ambient light) to both save battery and make it easier to see. Turn Auto-Brightness on and you’ll save battery because your screen will need to use less power in dark places.
    Find it in the Settings app -> Brightness & Wallpaper -> Auto-Brightness On
    2. Reduce Screen Brightness -the brighter the default setting for the screen, the more battery it requires. Keep the screen dimmer to conserve more of your battery.
    Find it in Settings -> Brightness & Wallpaper
    3. Stop Motion (iOS 7) -It's really cool, but it also drains battery. You may want to leave it on to enjoy the effect, but if not, turn it off this way:
    Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion -> move slider to green/on
    4. Turn Bluetooth Off-  Turn off Bluetooth except when you’re using it to squeeze more juice from your battery.
    Find it in Settings -> Bluetooth -> Move Slider to Off
    5. Turn Off Location Services -
    This allows your phone to know where you are and give you exact driving directions, give that information to apps that help you find restaurants, and more. But, like any service that sends data over a network, it needs battery power to work. If you’re not using Location Services, and don’t plan to right away, turn them off and save some power.
    Find it in Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> Slide to Off
    6. Don't Automatically Update Apps (iOS 7)-
    If you've got iOS 7, you can forget needing to update your apps by hand. There's now a feature that automatically updates them for you when new versions are released. Convenient, but also a drain on your battery. To only update apps when you want to, and thus manage your battery better:
    Settings -> iTunes & App Store -> Updates -> move slider to off/white
    7. Auto-Lock Sooner -
    You can set your iPhone to automatically go to sleep – a feature known as Auto-Lock - after a certain amount of time. The sooner it sleeps, the less power is used to run the screen or other services. Try setting Auto-Lock to 1 or 2 minutes.
    Find it in Settings -> General -> Auto-Lock -> Tap your Preference
    Few more things that would consume battery even when not is use are the applications that run in background.
    Follow the below steps to quit all running applications.
    1) Double tap on the home button on the iPhone ( this will display all apps that are running in the back ground).
    2) Just click on the tiny red X to quit application ( if iPhone is running on iOS 6 and below) else just swipe yhour finger over the running app upwards to quit ( if running on iOS7).

  • Calendar syncing with Windows 7 64 bit

    I can sync all applications with Windows 7 64 bit via Bluetooth except calendar/datebook.  It synced one time but now gets hung up every time I try to resync.  Can anyone help me?
    Post relates to: Treo 680 (Unlocked GSM)

    Hello Bogey,
     You might want to try setting the calendar/date book conduit to desktop overwrites handheld and then trying to sync again.  If the database on the Treo is damaged, this should force the database to be reloaded from the desktop.
    Hope that helps,
    Alan G

  • Can't pair iphone 5c to ipad mini

    Both devices will pair with a Bose soundlink mini, and the iphone has paired successfully to my car Jabra. I've turned each device on/off, turned bluetooth button on/off for good measure. Both tell me to have the other turned "on and in range", [which they are and in the same room]and that the pairing was unsuccessful. House has wifi.
    Iphone 5c is 32GB  version 8.1.2
    Ipad mini is 32GB version 8.1.2
    Thanks for any help.

    No. The iPhone is not designed to pair with an iPad or a computer via Bluetooth except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. It does use Bluetooth for things like Continuity and Airdrop but in those cases Bluetooth must be turned on for both devices but they are not paired. The following has more information including a link to the Bluetooth Profiles the iPhone does support: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?

  • Solution for SuperDrive write problems...

    Recently my MacMini developed a problem whereby discs could not be written to...neither CD-ROM nor DVD.
    The error message would be:
    "The disc can’t be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
    If your optical drive develops such a problem rather than thinking that the write functions have been permanently marred -- try this:  blowing compressed air directly into the drive slot.
    I got that tip searching google for users with similar problems and, lo and behold, it worked!
    A can of such 'duster' can be found where office supplies are sold.

    And you don't want to connect to a home network thats not closed and password protected.
    Thats as bad as connecting your BlueTooth keyboard without password (see manual).
    ANYONE in your neighborhood can read the text you send over the internet/BlueTooth except for a SSL connection which also is not all too strong.
