Bluetooth Mouse stops working after software updates

Hello,
I've been using a Bluetooth mouse with my X220 Tablet for several months now. After fiddling with device manager to ensure that the Thinkpad Bluetooth device does not have the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" setting set, things were working perfectly.
However, after running through some windows & Lenovo updates, the mouse now seems to work for a while, but after any idle time, the mouse stops working. Turning the mouse off & back on seems to cause it to reconnect, and it works until the next time it goes idle for 2 minutes.
I've gone through device manager, and made sure both the Bluetooth & USB Root devices are set not to power down (per http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Bluetooth-mouse-stops-working-from-time-to-tim... ), but still no luck.
The software updates applied from the Lenovo System Update tool were:
ThinkPad Power Management Driver: 1.67.04.05
ThinkPad Power Manager: 6.64.4
Lenovo Solution Center: 2.4.002
Intel G1/G2 Display Driver: 9.17.10.3347
Also, some windows updates  which don't seem related (mostly security), but I can lookup the list of KB numbers if helpful.
Are there any known issues with the power manager updates that might affect this? If so, what's the best way to revert to the last working version?
Thanks!

Try doing a PRAM reset and see if that helps, also put in new batteries as that may make a difference.

  • Natd stopped working after Software Updates: Bogus VLAN injections?

Software Update installed three packages on the iMac today:
    Safari 3.1 Update (Universal)
    Security Update 2008-002 (Universal)
    AirPort Extreme Update 2008-001
This machine (running 10.4.11, fully updated now) is my connection-sharing gateway the internet for my wife's MacBook, a Linux box and a TiVo unit.
Comcast ==(ethernet)== public-IP iMac ==(wireless)== private IP MacBook, Linux, TiVo
I ran my usual firewall + Internet sharing script after the mandatory reboot.
The iMac's broadband connection worked fine for local programs (Safari, ssh) but none of the machines with private IP addresses on the LAN could see the outside world. The machines on the home LAN could see each other fine -- ping, ssh, etc. Time to start testing!
When I pinged an external machine from the Linux machine, the DNS lookup succeeded after a delay, but it seemed that no ICMP responses came back. Actually, packet tracing with Wireshark showed that the responses had come in with an extra four-byte header field I had not seen before: something called "802.1Q Virtual Lan" inserted between the Ethernet II header and the Internet Protocol header. Sample packet dump (slightly edited):
     No.:  20
     Time:  00:04:56.746703
     Source:  64.233.187.99
     Destination:  192.168.1.2
     Protocol:  ICMP
     Info:  Echo (ping) reply
Frame 20 (102 bytes on wire, 102 bytes captured)
     Ethernet II, Src: AppleCom_54:1b:30 (00:17:f2:54:1b:30), Dst: FirstInt_94:75:8f (00:40:ca:94:75:8f)
      *802.1Q Virtual LAN*
         *001. .... .... .... = Priority: 1*
         *...0 .... .... .... = CFI: 0*
         *.... 0000 0000 0000 = ID: 0*
         *Type: IP (0x0800)*
     Internet Protocol, Src: 64.233.187.99 (64.233.187.99), Dst: 192.168.1.2 (192.168.1.2)
     Internet Control Message Protocol
Looking further back in the trace, it turned out that the DNS delay had the same oddity. The Linux machine sent out a request to the primary DNS server, got back an immediate response with the extra "802.1Q" field, waited 5 seconds, sent out a DNS request to the secondary server, got an immediate normal response (without "802.1Q"), then immediately used the returned numeric address for the pings. It's as if the Linux machine ignored the packet with the extra, interposed header.
I traced HTTP traffic to google.com and saw a similar pattern:
    1. bogus 1st DNS response
    2. delay
    3. good second DNS response
    4. sent HTTP SYN packet
    5. got back HTTP SYN/ACK with extra "802.1Q" field
    6. multiple retries of steps 4 and 5.
I suspect that one or more of the software updates is inserting this VLAN stuff into NAT-ed packets over Airport. The receiving machines drop the packets because they expect the Ethernet II header to be followed by the IP header, not 802.1Q data.
An old discussion thread ([VOIP VLAN using 802.1q frames causing massive dropped packets|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=378673#1833386]) talked about a similar problem.
Here are the NAT-related commands from my firewall script:
      natd -u -dynamic -interface en0
/sbin/ipfw add divert natd all from not me to any via en0
      sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1
Question: is there a known workaround to get the MacOSX network drivers not to insert 802.1Q VLAN headers?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello faab:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I am afraid to indicate that you probably will need to wait until you are back and have the software install DVD.
There is really no way to tell what happened. To fix it, however, you really need the DVDs.

  • In-line remote & mic stopped working after software update!

Hi guys. I don't know the proper name for it but you know the headphone jack on unibody MBPs is compatible with the iPhone headphones, which have remote and mic. You can make calls and control iTunes.
Shortly after the latest update which give you the App Store, the function has stopped working all together! Does anyone else have the same problem or am I an isolated case?

Try resetting the PRAM. Info here:

  • Airprint has stopped working after software update

I installed new updated software to Photosmart plus e-all in one model B210a (firmware TAL1FN1207AR) yesterday and now my ios devices will not print.  I can see the printer, can send the print job, but it never arrives at the printer. In the Print Center of the ios device, it shows status of "printing" but it never changes and no print output happens. The printer is working fine from network pcs.  I have tried powering down the printer and restarting, but that made no change.  The ios devices are running ios 5.1.1.  This has not been a problem until I installed the new HP software on the printer.  My rounter is a LInksys WRT54G.  Can anyone help me sort this out?  Thanks.

    Hi jsw404,
Have you tried rebooting the router? If not, I would take these steps: Turn off your device, printer and router. Bring the router online first, giving it 30-45 seconds to boot up. Then turn on your printer, and then your mobile device. See if this resolves your issue.
    I was an HP employee.

  • Web Dynpros stopped working after software update

Hi. Please forgive me if this thread is not in the good forum, I was not exactly sure where to post.
Yesterday we updated several "packages" in our portal using the Software Deployment Manager (SDM). Today, all our Web Dynpro applications won't work. It is almost clear to me that some jar files must be missing on the portal, but I can't say which ones and where to get them.
Here's the error I get on the portal when an iVew contains a WebDynpro:

Looking at SDM's log viewer, I found that an error occured during "SAP J2EE Engine Deployment", whcih seams to be related to my problem.
What should I do? I guess I could try reinstalling some "packages", but which ones? I am no expert with this so any help / clue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot !

The problem has finally been fixed. I wasn't aware that some SCA downloads had to be "approved" so many were missing (this is why some jar files were missing in my upgrade). Amoung those SCAs was J2EE-Core. So we reinstalled many previously installed SCAs with the "new" ones and everything's working fine this morning.
    Thanks for your support guys.

  • ISync has stopped working after software update

iSync does not start anymore. The icon bounces for a short time, but the application itself will not run. The advice in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1476343&tstart=0 did not help.
This first occurred today after installing the 10.5.3 OS update and its surrounding updates.
Anyhow, I figured out a workaround to make it start: Open the iSync package in the finder folder "programs" and double click the iSync program in the directory "Contents/MacOS/".
But this is not how the update wanted it to be, right? ;o)
Does anybody know what happened and how to cure it?

  • Bluetooth mouse stops working when adding a printer: 10.10.2

    Hi,
I'm using a MacBook Pro 2012 Retina, upgraded to 10.10.2.  Since upgrading to 10.10.2 I have been unable to connect to my Canon MG6150 that is plugged into the USB port of the Time Capsule (3TB).  Those problems will be detailed in a separate post.
I have tried deleting the printer and creating a new printer and when I click on the + and get the window to select a printer, the bluetooth mouse stops working - the message comes up to show "Connection Lost".  I have to select the printer manually and only when I have returned to the main Printer window in Settings & Preferences does the mouse connection work again.
Weird.  Between this and not being able to set up the scanning features again (that used to work), I'm feeling underwhelmed...

sounds like an IRQ conflict. See if disabling plug and play in the bios solves it. Arch's kernel provides this already.

  • My wifi stopped working after a update last year and I have updated since, can this be fixe

MMy wi fi stopped working after a update early last year and I have just made do since then by using i pad at home. I was going to upgrade my phone but need to clarify if it was the upgrade that broke my wifi and can it be fixed? I have heaed of Apple replacing phones affected by this problem. Please help

Try the suggestions here to see if they resolve your problem:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
If those solutions don't work your iPhone 4s has developed a hardware problem. The permanent solution is to get it replaced. I have not heard of Apple replacing long out of warranty iPhones.
You can search the internet for heating and freezing solutions that might work (at least for a while).
    For example, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj10bz5bI6A

  • Airport EXPRESS doesn't work after software update on Airport EXTREME

My Airport Express stopped working after I did my software update for my Airport EXTREME the other day. It lost the connection to my Airport EXPRESS and so I did a hard reset and tried to redo the whole profile but after many, many hard resets, I still can't make it work.
Airport Setup Assistant shows that the setup is complete and everything is fine. But if I select "Extend my wireless range", after the setup, my Airport Express won't even appear anywhere. If I select "Join my wireless network" then it will appear with a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address under my Airport Utility. It will also show up on my iTunes but I can't open it using Airport Utility and iTunes spends a long time searching for it and then gives up. In all the above cases, the amber light remains flashing and the green light never comes on. What else can I do to fix this??

Either change the channel that the phone is transmitting on or change the channel the Express is transmitting on. You can do the latter in Airport Admin Utility; the former depends on your phone.
