Blurry PDFs

When Copying File to Clipboard or Taking a Snapshot and pasting into Excel the report becomes very blurry. I have no issues when looking at the pdf document online or printing but when copying the words all blend together and it is difficult to make out the text.
I have tried ensuring that the preferences/smooth text is correct, I have tried editing the image in excel, and I have tried repairing Adobe Reader incase that was the issue but the issue persists.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have a Photosmart 7510.  Ever since I replaced the Ink Cartridges with non HP product, the saved PDF file is always blurry.  It doesn't matter if re-installed the driver or updated the adobe, it is still blurry.  Don't want to replace the ink cartridge back to HP brand until I find out this is the source of the problem.

If I change a pdf page in Photoshop CS2, when I resave it to Acrobat 7 it comes out blurry. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks for your email. It's text that needs editing.

Yes. Don't open it in Photoshop. When you do, you ruin the file.
Photoshop is not an all-purpose PDF editor. It rasterizes (ruins) vector PDF data. This is why you see blurriness.
If there is a graphic in the PDF that need to be edited, right click on it while in Acrobat. It will send the individual graphic to Photoshop for editing and then return it to Acrobat.

  • Blurry PDF Snapshots in Office 2010...?

    Hello,
I'm an IT Support Administrator for a company and a user presented an issue to me after Office was upgraded from 2003 to 2010 on his computer.
He is using Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional and Adobe Reader X. It's very common for him to take a snapshot of a PDF file and then copy it Outlook 2010 or Word 2010. Since the upgrade to 2010, whenever he takes a snapshot of a PDF and copies it into Outlook or Word, the overall image is blurry.
The PDF's consist of mostly text and everything in the snapshot is just blurry. Anybody have any idea why this is and if there is a patch or update out there (or in the future) that could resolve this issue?
I've included two screenshots below; one is a snapshot created from Adobe Reader X, the second is an image taken from Win7's Snipping Tool.
    All input is welcome!

Anybody else see this issue before?

I just noticed this issue today. I have been taking snapshots on a weekly basis for reports with no issues previously. Something must have happened with an update, MS or Adobe, I have had updates for both in the last week.
Anyhow, changing the snapshot resolution did not work for me.
But after pasting the snapshot image from a PDF into a Word doc, I right clicked the image and chose to Edit Picture. Immediately without doing anything, the image became clear.
Strange, nothing like adding another step to what was a simple process.

  • Importing Blurry Pdf Files

    Hello,
I am trying to place an 11 x 17" pdf file into my Indesign and it shows up really blurry.  It looks fine when opened in Photoshop. The image was originally an AutoCad structural drawing (blueprint) put into pdf.  I re-printed the pdf as a high print quality image.  Is there a setting in AutoCad that I need to change when printing to pdf to get these images to show up clearly in InDesign?  Thanks!

Take two or three steps back.
We're not familair with how you created the pdf from the AutoCad, either via Printing to Adobe PDF or the software has pdf creation built in.
In either event, that original pdf should not have been opened in Photoshop. Photoshop would have rasterized the type, no longer actual vector type but pixel based, dependent on the resolution when opening in PS.
Was there a need for Photoshop?

  • Blurry PDFs, appearing corrupted

I've recently started noticing that PDFs on a few sites are appearing corrupted, with all the text blurred in a big mess of lines. I'd assumed it was because the sites I was downloading them from were broken or they were getting corrupted somehow in transmission, but I've just discovered they can be opened fine in Adobe Reader.
Today I've had trouble with several of the PDFs on this site, the dark blue ones toward the bottom especially: http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/guidance/resources-for-those-we-regulate/c ampaigners-in-referendums/uk-parliamentary-voting-system-referendum
The open fine in Adobe Reader, but are garbage in Safari/Preview/Quickview or anything using the OS rendering.
    Anyone know a fix?

I seem to have a similar problem.

  • Blur Problems (bug report submitted)

I've submitted a bug report and will submit this again since its a better version of when I sent them before. The problem is this:
    - Adobe Acrobat Professional shows blur in certain situations. In another situation, the same file opens correctly. The file below is self-explanatory, i.e.:
    1. This is what you see when you do a fresh start, with no pre-existing Adobe processes running. Sometimes though the blur will show up even if its a fresh start.
    2. Thats what you see when the file has been closed but Acrobat Professional is still running and open.
If anyone needs the original PDF, it can be downloaded at:
    http://www.2shared.com/document/P927Y4Vm/scanned-doc-2.html
In area 1, you can see the glaring difference in visual quality. The blur makes it very hard and irritating to read the PDF. Notice how the blur alternates. Some areas are sharp while others are soft. Area 2 is how it should always look like (crisp).
If you cant see this image properly, it is uploaded at:
    http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4113/adobeacrobatproblurbug.jpg
Adobe Acrobat Professional version, latest: 9.3.4
    System: Windows XP
BUG: Adobe Acrobat Professional shows blurry PDFs in certain situations.
    ===
    STEPS TO RECREATE THE BUG:
Use Windows XP. I'm not sure if this shows up in Vista too. I'm sure it does.
    1. Download the PDF from:
    http://www.2shared.com/document/P927Y4Vm/scanned-doc-2.html
    2. In the Windows Task Manager, make sure there are no pre-existing Adobe processes running such as:
    AcrobatInfo.exe, Acrobat.exe, Acrotray.exe
    3. Open the PDF file you got in #1. Set zoom to 100%.
    4. Notice the visual quality. You will probably see blurry areas in the PDF. This matches Area 1 in this screen shot:
    http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4113/adobeacrobatproblurbug.jpg
    5. Close the file by doing: File---> Close
Do not exit the program. Go to Task Manager and verify that Acrobat.exe is already running.
    6. Open the file you got in #1, again. Zoom to 100% again.
    7. Notice now that the PDF does not have any blurry areas. What you see should match Area 2 in the same screenshot:
    http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4113/adobeacrobatproblurbug.jpg
    -End-

The choices in Bridge > Preferences > Advanced > International > Keyboard are limited, and they do not allow for choosing custom keyboard layouts.
I need the custom keyboard layouts for a variety of reasons, such as being able to type in seven languages with my most used one without switching, two Russian layouts to allow for two non-standard ways of encoding Russian fonts, etc.

  • Printing a PDF created in Indesign results in blurry text.

    Hello All,
I am in need of assistance.
I have created a flyer for one of my companies products in In-design.
When I print the project directly form In-design the print looks great and the text is nice and crisp.
However, when I export the project to a "Press Quality" PDF, and print it the text comes our blurry and "dirty"
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days now with no luck.
I have tried multiple different setting during the export to PDF form In-design, all resulting in the same issue.
What is strange is when I print the PDF in black and white the text look just as good as if it were printed directly from In-design in colour.
I looked around online and found allot of posts regarding this issue but no definitive results.
I have also checked the colour of the text and it is 100%K.

    What color is the text?
Can you show some screen shots?

  • Why is the footer blurry when I convert my document to a PDF?

When I am viewing my document in Pages (using the Club newsletter template) my logo in the footer looks fine.
However, when I convert the document to a PDF and then view it as a PDF, the footer looks blurry, as though there are two of them.
I've tried deleting and repasting and using a different format for the logo (e.g., jpg, png), and nothing seems to work.  Could it be a sizing issue?  (obviously I have to shrink my logo quite a bit to get it to fit into the footer....)
    Help appreciated!
    Thanks!

In your version of Pages, I went into layout mode, selected the footer, and enlarged it enough to cram a 180 dpi 1024x768 image into a thumb-sized image. In the Wrap Inspector, I selected make background objects selectable, and enabled in background. I turned off Object causes wrap.
I then chose Format > Advanced > Move Object to Section Master, and exported to PDF Best. At 400% enlargement in Preview, the image and footer looked normally sharp.
Here is a screen grab of that PDF footer image at 400%.

  • Printing to pdf is blurry in Acrobat 9 Pro

I'm running Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.  When I print a PDF document using the Adobe PDF printer, the resulting PDF appear with blurry text and images.  Why is this, and how do I create a clear PDF?

    Dear user,
I would like you to first check your Print Quality parameter from 'Properties'->'Layout'->'Advanced'->'Graphic'->'Print Quality'. You must have more dpis to get better output. Also check the resolution of Transparency Flattener preset from 'Advanced'->'Output'->'Transparency Flattener'.
If possible, Can you please forward us the original and output  PDF at [email protected]
Looking forward to resolve your issue.
    Thanks

  • When I send a newsletter as a pdf the photos are blurry.

When I send my newsletter made with Pages as a pdf the photos all look very blurry. I tried larger size files and same problem. I sent the original template with the Apple default photos and they are blurry as well. I've only looked at them on our two computers, both Macs. I size my photos no larger than 800 pixels on the longest side @72dpi. I have received a pdf newsletter made with Pages from someone else, and the photos look fine.

Are you using the shadow tool in your document ?

  • Why does my high res photoshop image appear blurry when placed in InDesign and Exported as PDF?

    Hi there,
I have a problem I've been trying to solve for days but just can't find the answer anywhere on the internet.
I have a large, good quality photoshop file (2268 x 979 pixels, resolution 300 pixels per inch). When I place it into InDesign, the image appears OK (I've changed my display settings to HIGH) - I then resize it in InDesign to 10% and the file still looks great! Then, when I export it as PDF (high quality print) it looks blurry.
Does anybody know why? The strangest thing is, I've placed other photoshop images in the same InDesign file and they look crystal clear. It is just this one I am having trouble with. I've saved it in the same folder as the other pictures, I've tried placing it as psd. , jpg. , photoshop pdf, png. everything...
The image looks great in both photoshop and indesign, only when exported as pdf it looks awful.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Many thanks in advance!
    Weronika

It's probably the extreme reduction -- you're throwing away 90% of the image pixels and interpolating, and then using jpeg compression on top.

  • Acrobat 9 - Save PDF as Optimized leading to blurry print jobs

Hi, I am looking for some insight into PDF's with optimized savings. I had a print job recently where some pages came out blurry and some pages did not. The previous job I did had no issues but the files files took a long time to send. SO this time I thought I would use the optimize option in Acrobat 9 to make the files smaller to send. I had the client check the quality on their end and of course the screen resolution was fine. What I am after is an answer to if the reason for some of the pages printing blurry was because of the optimize option I used when I sent them. From what I have quickly researched it seems that optimize does lead to blurry images. But if so then why did msot of the pages come out clean an d crisp and some of them come out blurry. Is that normal in this case? I am saving my PDF's originally from InDesign CS5 with printers marks and bleed. This is what I sent  the first time but of course like I said this time I saved them as optimized in Acrobat 9. It is the only thing I can think of to cause the blurry printing. Is it solely due to the save setting or could it be that the printers Acrobat version was earlier tham ine and this caused troubles? Appreciate any insight so I can avoid this again.

All pages were ready for high quality print - all imiages were at least 250dpi, most were 300dpi. All fine for quality print.
Optim was just standard which I should have changed. ANy idea why some pages were blurry and others weren't? <- Nothing to do with original resolution since they were all fine as stated above.
edit: Just got my own copy of the job. It's not really bluriness, it's more that all the fonts have a slight fuziness around them. Has to be from the optim save I did, but still weird that not every supplied PDF turned out like that. Each PDF I get I make sure open in PS and make sure they are CMYK then save as an .eps and then use Adobe Distiller to open the .eps and save again (to make sure no fonts bomb on the printers side). This does not cause loss of info, so it's only the optim save which I should have insisted on only being used a digital proofing PDF and not to send.

  • Blurry text in Acrobat X Pro when creating PDF from Word 2010

I created a  PDF document from Word 2010 and while most of the pages and formatting looks fine, about 1/5 of the pages have blurry Arial 10 pt text (it looks as if it was Arial bold out of focus). Has anyone experienced this problem?

  • Images fine in InDesign, blurry when export to PDF

I am having a problem with one InDesign document. It doesn't happen to any other document, even with the same types of graphics.
There are several .tif images that print out fine straight from InDesign, but if I export to a PDF-- even high-resolution-- the images are blurry. Text is fine in both cases.
    Help?

Peter, if they interact with transparency and go through the flattener at high resolution they can be upsampled ... I pointed this out before, blog post here
    http://indesignsecrets.com/flattening-fun.php
THIS SHOULD NEVER BE DONE THOUGH!
All in al the OP had 100 ppi images and that's why they look blurry in the PDF - because they are not high res.
