Blur Problems (bug report submitted)

I've submitted a bug report and will submit this again since its a better version of when I sent them before. The problem is this:
- Adobe Acrobat Professional shows blur in certain situations. In another situation, the same file opens correctly. The file below is self-explanatory, i.e.:
1. This is what you see when you do a fresh start, with no pre-existing Adobe processes running. Sometimes though the blur will show up even if its a fresh start.
2. Thats what you see when the file has been closed but Acrobat Professional is still running and open.
If anyone needs the original PDF, it can be downloaded at:
http://www.2shared.com/document/P927Y4Vm/scanned-doc-2.html
In area 1, you can see the glaring difference in visual quality. The blur makes it very hard and irritating to read the PDF. Notice how the blur alternates. Some areas are sharp while others are soft. Area 2 is how it should always look like (crisp).
If you cant see this image properly, it is uploaded at:
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4113/adobeacrobatproblurbug.jpg
Adobe Acrobat Professional version, latest: 9.3.4
System: Windows XP
BUG: Adobe Acrobat Professional shows blurry PDFs in certain situations.
===
STEPS TO RECREATE THE BUG:
Use Windows XP. I'm not sure if this shows up in Vista too. I'm sure it does.
1. Download the PDF from:
http://www.2shared.com/document/P927Y4Vm/scanned-doc-2.html
2. In the Windows Task Manager, make sure there are no pre-existing Adobe processes running such as:
AcrobatInfo.exe, Acrobat.exe, Acrotray.exe
3. Open the PDF file you got in #1. Set zoom to 100%.
4. Notice the visual quality. You will probably see blurry areas in the PDF. This matches Area 1 in this screen shot:
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4113/adobeacrobatproblurbug.jpg
5. Close the file by doing: File---> Close
Do not exit the program. Go to Task Manager and verify that Acrobat.exe is already running.
6. Open the file you got in #1, again. Zoom to 100% again.
7. Notice now that the PDF does not have any blurry areas. What you see should match Area 2 in the same screenshot:

  • Bug report submitted re Input Mode affected by ACR 4.2 Mac - very annoying

Just submitted a bug report to Adobe. ACR 4.2, Photoshop 10, Tiger 10.4.10, PowerPC.
Most users in the US and the UK may not even run across this situation.
If you use a non US standard keyboard layout as your Input mode, causing ACR 4.2 to launch, either from Bridge, Photoshop, or the Finder, this switches the selected keyboard to the US standard. If you click the Cancel button in ACR, the keyboard reverts back to your custom keyboard layout; but if you click Open, the US standard keyboard remains set even after quitting Photoshop, ACR and Bridge.
It took me a while to figure out what was causing me to loose my preferred keyboard layout. It didn't dawn on me ACR 4.2 was doing it. Observing a few screen shots led me to discover the cause.
    It's most annoying.

  • Airport problems (bug report)

To put "the bottom-line up front", I'd like to know if anyone can put me in contact with Apple's Airport software engineers (or can forward this to them so a bug fix can be released). I have composed as detailed of a description of the bug as possible and all my attempted fixes.
I've been having problems (for some time now) with my airport connection dying at seemingly random times, but most often within 5 minutes of re-booting. The indicator on the menu bar will show full signal, but I will not be able to even ping my router.
This was not an issue until I installed Airport Update 4.2 (back in September). Shortly thereafter, I suspected the update was the problem, and did a complete re-install minus that update (and the ones reliant on it). Things then worked with no problems. I got brave and installed the update (in November) and since then the problems returned. I so far have not been willing to undertake another complete re-install.
This is not an issue on my Jaguar partition, nor is it on a G4 that has a wired connection to the router, nor is it one on my brother's Powerbook G4, (running Tiger on a wireless connection). Running Fix Permissions and Fix Disk from Disk Utility has no effect, (including single-user boot with fsck). Resetting the router (and cable modem) has no effect.
3rd-party software is ruled out. None was installed during my initial Panther installation when I first noticed the problem. Upgrading to Tiger is currently beyond my monetary means.
For information, my router is a Linksys (802.11b) model BEFW11S4.

    hi there--
your best bet for wanting your information to be shared is to call apple technical support at 1-800-275-2273. you can give a detailed report to a tech support agent, who will pass it along to the powers that be. you could also request to speak to an upper tier agent. then the report will be more likely to be handed over to apple engineering.

  • Sending a bug report on the OS and a sleep mode problem.

I find the bug button in Safari really convenient for sending Apple bug reports. And when other applications crash, you usually get an error dialog with a button to send a bug report. But sometimes problems arise that require reporting, but which don't fall in either of these categories. It would be very handy to have a bug "button" for the OS, or perhaps just a menu selection in the Finder menu bar that invokes a bug report dialog box. I know you can dig around and find the URL for Apple's bug report web page, but I am always forgetting it -- I suppose I could just bookmark it, but then I'd just have to dig around in all the bookmarks to find it. Better would be a utility built-in to the OS for sending bug reports (like Safari's). It could also automatically transfer necessary info about the OS rev and such.
The problem I had was this. I have a script that puts my iMac to sleep. I put the script alias on the task bar and a single click puts the computer to sleep (easier than using the menu). Unfortunately, I sometimes click it by mistake when I am trying to click an adjacent icon in the task bar, and the Mac starts going through its cycle to enter sleep mode and is impervious to anything I do to try and cancel it. I tried pressing the space bar continuously to prevent it from going to sleep, but that did not work. Worse, when it went to sleep and I woke it up again, the task bar would not appear, clicking on app windows did not activate them, Finder menus could not be selected, etc. The cursor would move, but I could not do anything else. (I wish now I had noted if the clock in the menu bar was still advancing, but I didn't think to do that.) I powered down the iMac from the power key and rebooted. Things are working fine now.
I wanted to send a bug report on this, but realized that unlike Safari, there was no button or menu selection for doing that. So here I am.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    TIA,
    Drake

  • Acrobat X Scanning Cancelled Problem / WORKAROUND / BUG REPORT

As you have read in other threads, Acrobat X on Windows has a serious scanning problem with HP and possibly other scanners.
Whereas in Acrobat 9 scanning worked reasonably well, Acrobat X seems to be unable to cope with scanning documents from the flat bed of a multifunction scanner.
So, if you are scanning from the feeder, scanning works, but if you are scanning from the flatbed, you will get a brief pause and the phrase SCANNING CANCELLED.
This is, of course, not acceptable.
The problem is that Acrobat X does not play nicely with the scanner drivers.  Previously, Acrobat 9 would "auto-detect" the source of a document, using the feeder if loaded, and "falling back" to the flatbed otherwise.  However, Acrobat X does not fall back.  If there is nothing loaded in the document feeder, the scan will be cancelled by Acrobat X.
The workaround - and I would NOT call this a "solution" - is to use only the "Custom Scan" command from Acrobat X.  When the window pops up, choose the "Options" button and select "Native Mode" and "Show Scanner's Native Interface" from the two menus.  (Acrobat X does seem to remember these settings at least within a session, so if you're scanning multiple documents you only need to do this once.)  Then scan.
You will see a new window pop up - the scanner's "native interface."  On my computer, this window shows up BEHIND the Acrobat X screen (annoyingly) so you have to watch for it and click forward.  Be sure to select "flat bed" from the "document source" menu.  On my computer, this setting is NOT remembered between scans, so you have to do this for EVERY SCAN.  Then, the document will scan, and you can do what you want with it in Acrobat X.
Needless to say, this is a long, painful, slow process, especially if you're scanning lots of flatbed items, as I do.  Hence it's a "workaround" and NOT a "solution".
The SOLUTION will be for Adobe to FIX this.  ADOBE:  THIS IS A BUG REPORT.  PLEASE LOG THIS IN AND FIX IT.  Acrobat 9 with CS5 worked perfectly, as did Acrobat 8 before it.  Moving to CS5.5 with Acrobat X broke this.  Sloppy.  Please fix!  Thank you!
    Glen Barney

I used your workaround (thank you!) but it was very annoying. Although I set up the options for a single multi-page document, Adobe gave me separate files and I had to consolidate them. I also had to fill out the options (color, flatbed vs feeder) for each page. This function was working for me at some point, so I don't know what happened to make my HP Multifunction and Adobe part ways. I hope Adobe comes up with a successful patch for this problem.

  • ODAC 11.2.0.1.2 - submitting a bug report?

    Hello,
    I installed ODAC 11.2.0.1.2 and using it with VB.Net 2010 and Oracle 11g R2.
    I have the following issue:
I created a Global Temporary table in Oracle (ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS). I populated this table with data and I can access data without problems using the connection object in VB.Net. Therefore, if I issue an SQL statement in VB.Net to SELECT FROM this table it works fine. I can get the data.
However, if I call a stored procedure from VB.Net, within the same session and this stored procedure contains the same SQL statement to select from the temporary table, then I get 0 records.
For some reason I cannot see any data in the temporary table if I access it through a stored procedure.
Is this a bug? If yes, then how can I submit a bug report?
    Thank you,
    M. R.

    Hi,
Please see the response to the same question in the ODE forum. Are you able to provide a testcase?

  • Submitting bug reports

MacLoyal, that is my moniker! I am in a state of identity crisis because iPhoto is about to force me to break ranks and seek a place of sanity with a non-Apple photo system. I had to lose the iLife integration with dot mac. I do not want to take such a drastic measure and I truly cannot afford the added expense. I already have thousands of dollars sunk into Apple and all their goodies. My investment in time is something I dare not even try to calculate.
I regret every time I had a "do you want to submit a report" box pop up and cancelled it rather than submitting each and every one with frantic demands for help to correct the mess that iPhoto 5 has caused in my life.
I dare not edit any of the photos in my library. I don't even want to rotate them. Indeed, I dread opening the program! It hangs my laptop computer up indefinitely. The only way I have found to interrupt the hang time, because I cannot even get force quit to work, is to shut the lid and put it to sleep. Amazingly, when I open it again I am not in a suspended state. However, as I stated, I'm reluctant to actually do anything with the program besides, perhaps run the slide show, once I have the program open.
So my question is: How do I send a bug report when I haven't actually gotten to the point that the computer generates the bug message? That seems only to happen with an unexpected quit.
I've noticed that the Safari pull down menu always has a "Submit bug report" message listed, but iPhoto does not have that in the its menu panel. Can I submit a report on any topic on the Safari form or is that only going to make it to the Safari team at Apple? If I can use that form, is there a limit to how many complaints I can inundate them with? I am at my wits end. . .

Of all the programs I've used of OSX IPhoto is the lamest. I really thought it should be better and every time I opened it up and used it I just couldn't get over how poorly it worked. I finally stopped using it altogether and just started using photoshops browser. Now photoshop has the bridge which seems like it would be great (haven't upgraded yet). Even with out the bugs the program just doesn't meet my simplest needs for photos. Good luck finding something that fits your needs and works well on your computer.

  • How to find my submitted bug report in Java bug database

I just submitted a bug report in Java bug database and it told me that the submission is successful without its bug ID and no email notification is received from Oracle.

    The bug's product/category is Java Plug-in in JRE7
So how could I get the bug status? Will it be fixed and how is it going on?

  • Reporting some proxy problems/bugs

Is there a way to report problems/bugs in the proxy software without having support? I believe this can be done for Java, but what about the proxy?
In our environment we are using the proxy software (currently v4.0.5, but I haven't seen these items in the release notes of the newer versions of the software) in the reverse proxy mode and have encountered what I believe may be a couple of bugs.
Possibly related to a previous poster's "Content-length mismatch" error message, it seems that some app servers respond to an If-modified-since conditional GET request incorrectly by sending a Content-length header along with the "304 not modified response" (there should be no such header in a 304 response). When proxy caching is enabled and the GZip compression filter is used, one result I have seen is the "Content-length match" error message which happens when the incorrectly included Content-length header has a non-zero value. A different result occurs when the incorrectly included Content-length header has a value of zero - the proxy response body gets truncated (completely removed).
A second issue I have seen is with the reverse proxy's handling of a POST with a trailing CR/LF which some browsers (IE) send incorrectly (there should be no such trailing CR/LF in a POST request). The proxy seems to handle the trailing CR/LF for the request/response, however if HTTP1.1 keepalive is used and the POST is followed by a GET request on the same open connection from the browser then the access log entry for the GET request will be broken across two lines.
Hopefully someone from Oracle monitoring these forums will pass these on to the proxy dev team.

Yep, I realize Safari on Windows uses Windows Internet Options to get proxy server info BUT the Windows Internet Options don't provide a place to specify the proxy login information.
As a result, when the browser contacts the proxy it usually (or should) prompt the user for the login info. Safari did the first time and I told it to save the info. Then my login info changed and rather than prompt for it again, Safari sits there and doesn't load any pages.
IE7 uses the same proxy without problems because IE uses the domain login credentials to connect to the proxy server.
Google Chrome uses the Windows Internet Options for proxy support and it prompts me to login to the proxy each time I fire it up and access a website.
Mozilla Firefox 3.0.4 will prompt me for login information if the login info it has stored won't work for the proxy connection.
Opera 9.62 prompts me for the proxy login information each time I fire it up, just like Google Chrome.
Out of all of those browsers, Safari is the only one that can't use the proxy because I can't change the login information for the proxy connection.
    Peace...

  • Bug Report Problem

I think there's a bug in the "bug report" procedure. Says I'm signed in but on next page says sign-in which takes me in a loop.

I have move my 5 x LC around, rebuild pref ?
yes, something like that. Firstly I would try to bring the LCs and XTs to default. Choose "Logic Pro/Preferences.../Control Surfaces/Rebuild Defaults".
If that doesn't help shut down all your devices and delete them from the CS-setup window. Quit Logic and delete
    ~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.cs
start Logic. When started switch on the LCs one after the other from left to right.
If that doesn't help, re-write the firmware. And if that doesn't help or if you already did all this:
    sorry!
    cheers

  • Bug report: ube_ipa: internal error when compiling with -xO5

When compiling imlib2-1.1.2, one source file causes compilation to fail with the following error message:
    ube_ipa: internal error
    cc: ube_ipa failed for loader_tiff.c
The command which fails is (probably wrapped):
    cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I. -I.. -I../src -I../loaders -I../libltdl -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/openwin/include -I/opt/csw/include -I/opt/csw/include -I/opt/csw/include -g -fast -xarch=386 -xstrconst -v -xildoff -xO5 -c loader_tiff.c -KPIC -DPIC -o .libs/loader_tiff.o
Changing -xO5 to -xO4 works around the problem. The source file in question is imlib2-1.1.2/loaders/loader_tiff.c
Patch 112756-10 has been applied, and doesn't correct the problem. GCC doesn't have any problem compiling the file.
A quick note to any Sun employees reading this: it took me 45 minutes to find somewhere to submit this bug report. Searching sun.com for "submit bug report" turned up many forum postings where people asked "Where do I submit bug reports?", a bug report form for Sun One Java Studio, and not much else. It might be in your interest to make submitting bugs easier.

Internal errors, such as the one you encountered, are generally considered compiler bugs. They indicate that the compiler reached an unexpected state and therefore bailed out. I opened bug 20703141: internal error: pic_relocs(): hh reltype? to investigate. I see the same error message emitted by the current Studio development release; I will update this thread if I find a work-around.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Bug report, how do I find out what is wrong?

my computer keeps getting bug reports stuck all over the desktop. When I print them it is 3 pages long and I dont know how to use the information from it. It only occurs when my son is using Runescape an online game. My son says he has reported all the errors when the computer prompts him to. I did find an Bug Report that seems to be associated with this problem. Our computer did shut down occasionally also, but since I switched the location of the new memory I added it has not continued. The reason I am checking with this website is because this is where the reports are going. The first part of the error report from my computer is this:

What do I need to do to fix this problem? Could it be Runescapes issue? Is there other information that is more important to this? I really appreciate any help I can get with this problem. And I am sorry for being so long. I have included the Bug Report I found that is an almost exact duplicate of our issue.

JavaJava13 Hey just wondering. Java is used for runescape on my computer, and it seems to be constantly crashing lately. Not only the game is crshing, it seems to even take down the whole computer with it. Sometimes the computer restarts and I get an error message.
"Your system has recovered from a serious error"
Java continues to add error reports to my desktop with this code: 4F530E43505002EF
    Anyone help?

try checking with runescapes FAQ/tech support. I play
WC3: RoC and i only got that same memory location
error(0xc0000005). I got that memory error when I
used a no-cd third party program when they upgraded
the server. So, my advice is check on the FAQ for
errors and ask your son if he is using
ANY third party programs. The 0xc0000005 error is a standard error on Windows that can occur for any number of reasons.
It means something in the application tried to access memory to which windows knows the application should not be accessing.

  • Problems / Bugs / Improvements we have found - Experienced users.

    Hello there,
I work for an animation / film company and After Effects is an integral part of out production services. As much as we love the program, its not without its flaws. Here are some things we have found after using After Effects day in and day out...
    Clone Stamp :
Please can you add a keyframe-able 'offset' feature to the clone stamp source region? It seems that there isn't a great way of  doing this without expressions. We found a workaround which is to offset the centre point of the tracker before we do the track, then parent the clone source region to this point. Theres a lot of people online who think the cloner is completely broken for use in video, but the problem is that theres no easy way to parent the source region to a tracker...
    Rendering :
Practically every day we turn up to work and find that a lot of renders weren't successful. This causes us lots and lots of unnecessary stress and problems. If there is any stability fixes that you can do then we would be highly appreciative. (Possibly just making it so that the ram is purged after each clip is rendered? - It seems to be a memory problem half the time even though this machine has 64GB of ram...). Renders also seem to be excruciatingly slow at times, even though were using an extremely powerful machine; is there nothing that can be done to accelerate renders and/or use more of the computers resources? We have found that sometimes if we pre-render a comp, it renders pretty instantaneously when in the render queue, whereas we have seen the same comp stuck doing barely anything in the render queue for hours..?
Additionally, can there be a way to change the render path/settings of multiple renders in one go? Unless were mistaken, it seems like each clip has to be manually set up and this is extremely painstaking when working with a lot of files! Also media encoder doesn't seem to render files accurately quite a lot of the time, not sure at all where the problem is but we have totally stopped using this way of rendering now as the renders rarely come out as expected.
    Switching between comps:
PLEASE can you create a MASTER FX switch, which will turn off ALL the effects and motion blur in the entire project (not just the comp you are in)? This would be an amazing feature as we spend SO much time just waiting for heavy comps to open just so we can add them to the render queue... Possibly this could not effects the final render, but just allow you to quickly get into a comp? We know that caps lock stops any preview being loaded but there are many limitations to this approach.
    Motion blur:
Sometimes we notice that if we have motion blur switched on inside of pre-comps, the blur is being calculated and applied multiple times, which looks horrible and takes forever to calculate... A master motion blur controller is long overdue in After Effects and programs such as Nuke have had this feature since day 1. We would love to see this feature and i'm sure there are many others who would too!
    3D controls:
We would love to see better 3D controls for positioning layers etc - if there were improvements on the 3D manipulation tools (Rotate,translate,scale...) to resemble the look of a full 3D program, our lives would be much easier .
    Mesh warp / Nulls:
It would be amazing to be able to parent points on the mesh warp to a null object, or at least give every mesh warp point a positional value. This would enable animators to create much improved 2D rigs for characters etc! At the moment the mesh warp isn't very robust and is difficult to get the desired control and effect.
    Lens blur/Depth of field:
Can you please add an easier way to see what is in focus and whats not, when using a depth pass? There is a great feature in Nuke which allows u to see where the depth of field is taking place called 'focal plane setup', but it seems that after effects is a case of trial and error when dealing with this kind of task! Would also be amazing if you could simply click the area you want to be in focus (like in Nuke )
    Duplicating comps and child comps:
PLEASE can you add an option to duplicate a comp as well as all the comps inside of it? If your dealing with complex projects it is horrific to have to go in and duplicate the comp then ALT drag the duplicate in so your not destroying other comps linked to that comp (hope that doesn't sound too confusing!). There are some scripts when claim to add this functionality but we've had no joy with any of these so far...
Multiple comps / new viewer problems
This is a big one for me and my colleagues. When there are two comp viewers on screen, please can you make the timeline switch to the corresponding comp when you click within the viewer window? Its a huge pain to have to switch between timelines when your doing this! Please can you also add the option to add real time updates in both comp viewers when you have two comp viewers on screen? It seems that only one updates in real time which can be pretty annoying...
I think thats everything for now, it would be amazing if you could rectify some of these problems as i know it would make a lot of people very happy!
    Cheers!

Some of the issues you're describing already have fixes underway. Specifically rendering and switching between comps. The Adobe folks have said that the majority of the After Effects team is working on making AE behave differently (much more quickly) in interactivity and rendering. As I've heard it described, it sounds a lot like it'll answer both of those issues.
I believe I speak for all of us who use AE every day when I say, "We cannot wait! (Well, we can wait until the bugs are squashed...but you know what we mean!)" If you missed the initial public discussion on this: Happy New Year! ~ and a question… The overwhelming response to that question was FASTER! And the AE team listened. YAY!
Please have you (and everyone on your team who cares) file feature requests for the rest of these too. It would be great to be able to have the functionality of the True Comp Duplicator script a little more robustly and integrated into AE! And the DOF thing is a biggie too. Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
The folks on the AE team do listen to feature requests and the more they get for a certain feature, the higher priority it gets.
This is just a forum for users to help each other. Granted, the AE team is great about looking in too, but feature requests are the official way for them to track these things.
And, hey, EVERYONE ELSE reading this; file feature requests too! Adobe wants us to stay subscribed and happy, so let them know what we need/want.

  • Bug Report Bounced Back

    I went to
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
I reported that the function to remove unused index keywords
is not working in Robohelp 7 (or at least my installation). The
form submission was bounced back with the message: " The e-mail
account does not exist at the organization this message was sent
    to."
I have submitted reports of many serious bugs in Robohelp 7
(including one bug that crashes the application), yet I have no
idea if they get through to anyone who cares, or if Adobe will be
    fixing the problems.

When you successfully submit a request or a bug, that comes
to us (the Robohelp team) and we verify the same. In case you find
any problem in reporting a bug, you can send across an email
detailing the bug directly to me at [email protected]
    Cheers,
