Bootcamp package contents

I went into bootcamp package contents and modified info.plist so that I could install 32bit windows but now my bootcamp won't open. I swear I backed up info.plist but I can't find it anymore. Can you uninstall and reinstall bootcamp? If not, how to fix this? Info.plist is still there and it seems like it is the unmodified version but still bootcamp will not open.

You need to code sign it using Xcode command line tools. It does not partake well of modifications.

  • I am trying to Show Package contents of iMovie and it freezes at the hr.lprog folder

While doing a virus scan my machine would freeze on the file
    Applications/iMovie/Contents/Resource/hr.lprog/Title-SidewaysDrifting.nib/keyedo bjects.nib.
Bitdefender said to send them the file.
I am able to "Show package contents" of iMovie, and open the Contents and Resources folder. When I try to open the hr.lprog folder, I get the spinning beach vball of death and I have to reboot my machine using the power button.
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this and how to fix it?
Is the hr.lprog folder just the language files for Croatia? If so, can I safely delete them, or is there more to it?

My guess would be that your hard drive has become corrupt, and the corruption is affecting something about that folder or its contents such that when the Finder tries to display them, it crashes. I would recommend immediatelyrepairing with Disk Utility. Also, if you don't have any backups, now would be a good time to start, before something bad happens.
If repairing the hard drive doesn't work, I would try deleting and reinstalling iMovie.
Also, note that I don't recommend BitDefender. Read my Mac Malware Guide, and if after reading that you want to have anti-virus software, use one of the programs it recommends. BitDefender has performed poorly in my anti-virus software testing, both in the first round and the second round of testing.

  • Window blank when I click "Show Package Contents" in Pictures folder

Long story short, I have two iPhoto libraries - one on an old laptop and one on a new MacBook Air (10.6.4). I have been trying to copy the old iPhoto library from the old laptop to the new laptop (so that I would be able to access both libraries on the new laptop by holding down option when starting iPhoto and selecting one or the other).
I copied the old iPhoto library into the "Pictures" folder on the new laptop. Then I did some ill-advised tidying up (I know, I know, I'm an idiot) in that "Pictures" folder. As I understand it, inside "Pictures", there should be an "iPhoto Library" folder but that has now gone. In fact, there is nothing in "Pictures" at all. When I right click on "Pictures" and select ""Show Package Contents" I get a blank window.
I have the two iPhoto libraries (old and new) elsewhere on my hard drive - in a folder I created in the home directory ("Pictures 2" > "iPhoto Library"). iPhoto can read the two libraries from there no problem. But I cannot drag and drop the libraries into the "Pictures" folder, where they should be, because I get an error message: "You can’t open the application “Pictures” because it may be damaged or incomplete". When I click on "Pictures", it doesn't open in Finder but iPhoto opens up showing whatever library I used last.
Someone on the iPhoto forum suggested that I post this problem here: "That sounds very like the Pictures Folder has had it's Execute bit set and the Mac now thinks it's an application. The solution to this is a trip to the Terminal. Post this here: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1339 and someone will give you the Terminal commands to fix that." So I'm hoping that someone here can help me out!
Let me know if you need any further info. The other thread is here:

    Many thanks.

I'm having the same exact problem. I have an older macbook pro and I was trying to copy the iphoto library to my new imac. I was stupidly messing around with the pictures folder on the comp when things weren't migrating correctly, then it suddenly changed from a folder to a package and I got the same error when I tried to delete. Any suggestions?

  • Iphotos Package Contents: What are all these folders for? Is it too large to back up in the cloud?

Dear experts,  I am quite a newbie when it comes to understanding the Mac filing system, as I originally came from the PC world.  There's lots of things I dont understand in the iMac file viewer and how to organise and backup my photos is an important issue for me.
I know that if I want to look at the original photo files on my iMac, I can right-click on users/myname/pictures and select "Show Package Contents".
Question 1 - What are all these folders for?
Please can someone explain what is the difference between all the folders I see?  Some of them seem to be exact duplicates of the others e.g. Masters, Modified and Originals all seem to have the same content.  So here is a list of folders that I see.  What is in them?, or what is their purpose?
    Data
    Data.noindex
    Modified
    Originals
    Apple TV Photo Cache
    Attachments
    Auto Import
    Backup
    Caches
    Contents
    Database
    iLifeShared
    iPod Photo Cache
    Masters
    Previews
    ProjectCache
    Thumbnails
    Question 2 - Which photo folder should I back-up?
If I want to keep a physical backup of my photos, which of the above folders should I copy to an external hard drive?  (I use Get Backup to automatically  copy all important new or changed files to an external drive)
Question 3 - Using the cloud: What is the best way to backup my large photo library in the cloud safely?
I would like to have some kind of safe backup in the cloud for my photos.  However the size of the iphoto library is huge at 165GB.  Even the Masters folder is huge.  It is 130GB.  Is it possible to back up files of this size in the cloud?  I have a couple of services called photo streaming and Dropbox, but they don't seem to be able to handle this kind of size.  Photo streaming only works with 1000 photos (as far as I can tell), and my Dropbox probably has a limit too.  I guess it's about 5GB.  I am already using about 3GB of my Dropbox space for other files.  I would consider both paid and free solutions.
Many thanks to all the experts for your help!

know that if I want to look at the original photo files on my iMac, I can right-click on users/myname/pictures and select "Show Package Contents".
Don't do that. That's like opening the hood of your car and trying to figure out what all the different bits and peices are and which you can yank out and dispose of. Simply, there are no user-serviceable parts in here.
    So, your Question 2:
You back up the iPhoto Library as a single unit.
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
    Your question 3:
There is no good back up to the Cloud. There are a couple of reasons for this. One is that the datasets are so large and the cloud services shapre their download speeds. This means restoring can take days to complete. Then, and this is the big problem, the iPhoto Library needs to sit on a disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Bluntly, no servers online are formatted appropriately, and if the Library is written to - by an incremental back up, for instance - there is a very high likelihood that the library will be corrupted.
    Your Question 1:
The Library you're describing there sounds like one that has been updated a few times. Not everything you list there is a folder. Some will be aliases.
    The Data folders hold thumbnails.
The Masters and Originals folders hold the files as imported from the camera
The Previews hold the versions of the edited photos that are accessed via the Sharing mechanism.
I think if you look losely that you'll notice that one of the Data folders and one of either the Masters or the Originals folders is actually an alias.
Everything else is a database or cache file of some form. All are required for iPhoto to work.

  • Iphoto package contents is separate from iphoto after hard drive recovery

I have moved some of my previous iphoto libraries to an external hard drive. It fell and was not usable and did nor want to open any of my fikes. It was rceovered and I've received it back. The package contents are now seperate from the iphoto icon's on the hard drive. If I want to open it, it asks me to upgrade to the new maverick's version iphoto library. I click upgrade but then it saus that my iphoto library needs recovery and that it will quit and relaunch by itself. If I press quit the whole process starts anew. What should I do to be able to view my iphoto library? Please please help!

Dear Larry. Unfortunately I have just copied all my old libraries to this external hard drive and was about to back it up when it fell. This was still the previous Iphoto app before I updated my mac to mavericks. I now run OS X 10.9.2. The folder in which I received back this hard drive shows: folder "2012 iphoto". In this folder all the package contents lies together with the older iphoto app. In other words, if I right click on the iphoto icon, there is no option to "show package content:, because I assume it is not in it and is seperated. I hope I explained this correctly?
If I now double click on the iphoto icon, iphoto starts up and it shows me the following message: "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.". I then click upgrade, and the following message appears: " An inconsistency in your database has been detected. The application will now quit, relaunch, and restore your database to a consistent state. This may take some time." It only shows a tab with "quit". If I pres quit, iphoto closes and reopens with the first message showing again. This continues untill I choose the option to not upgrade...

  • How do I recover an iMovie project that "disappeared" from iMovie, but its' thumbnail/package contents is still in Finder?

I created an iMovie project and finalized it, but when I tried to look for it, it was gone in the iMovie project library. I can find it on"finder", and open package contents etc, but it won't play in iMovie. How do I recover it? Its really important!

I think the trick is to 'Considate source media' on the new library.  See:

  • Flex Mobile 4.5.1: Package contents and URLLoader

On Flash for web and desktop (Projector debugger), one can use a URLLoader to load local URLs (eg files off your hard drive).  This is very useful for some development purposes, as you just need to make sure any external files (JSON & PNG) are in the same relative path as the SWF, and you then don't need to worry about different code paths whether you're loading these external files from local storage or http.  URLLoader operates the same whether loading locally or remotely.
Is there any way to easily get the same behavior on a Flex Mobile 4.5.1 app (specifically for an iOS target)?  Again, this is useful because in my live app, these external files will be loaded from our web server, but for testing purposes I would like to be able to run in a server-less mode and include them with the deployed debug IPA file.  My first problem is that I cannot seem to figure out how to deploy these files to the application in the first place - I tried adding my external-files folder to the Flex Build Path as an additional Source folder, but they still don't show up under the Package Contents for iOS tab.
Any ideas?  Are there any include-extra-files-in-package options in the -app.xml?
Or is there no way to use URLLoader for local storage on mobile, and I am stuck with using Embed?  (I guess besides Embed I could manually deploy the files to the iOS file system and use the AIR api for access, but that's still a different code path, defeating my goal - we have a decent bit of code built around the idea that URLLoader is agnostic)

Edit: Realized my original answer wasn't correct, the files were being pulled in from another setting.
After some experimenting, the answer is YES, and it's actually a bit unexpected: Just in fact adding the external files folder to the Flex Build path | Source Path actually pulls them all in.  It seems those directories are passed to both mxmlc and adt.  Unexpected surprise.

  • How to restore package contents for preview.app after Mac OS X Lion upgrade

since installing Mac OS X Lion I have been totally unable to run Preview.app. After having attempted to troubleshoot the problem I discovered that the package contents for the Preview application no longer existds on my hard drive. Does anyone know where I can obtain a another copy of the preview application? or how I might go about restoring the package contents for Preview in order to run Preview.app?

Use Pacifist to extract it from the InstallESD.dmg residing inside the Install Mac OS X Lion.app.

  • Trying to understand  app info size vs package contents info size

Help needed with a basic question:
The disk space size shown in the info panel for an app: What is it a measure of?
Does it represent, and should it be the same as, the size of the app's package contents folder?
I have several apps whose sizes shown in their info panels are Much less than the sizes of their corresponding package contents folders.
    One example is:
The info panel for Preview.app shows size: 40.7MB.
The info panel for its Contents shows size: 70.2MB.
    What's going on?

  • Photos shown in the Package Contents are not visible in iPhoto.

I am using iPhoto '08 (7.1.5 (378)) and have suddenly found that the last 3 years worth of photos are not displayed in iPhoto while they are still visible in the Package Contents (using Finder).  The folders (with event and image content) for 2012 through part 2009 are in Originals, Modified and Data but do not get picked up by the iPhoto application.  I have backups upto April 2011 i.e. no backups for a considerable number of photos since April 2011.
I have searched previous discussions whereupon I have tried using the re-build option in iPhoto Library Manager (it re-builds with the photos missing) and all the re-build options available when launching iPhoto with the Option+Command keys pressed (with seemingly very little activity).
Has anyone had this problem? Have I missed a relevant discussion?  Does anyone know how I can re-instate my missing photos and events in iPhoto?
    Thank you in anticipation.
    Martin

When you repaired the libary did you check the option ot recover orphane3d photos in the iPhoto Library folder along with rebuilding the database file and repairing file permissions and?
If that doesn't help the try the following:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • Clear old files out of Project Package Contents

Under project settings > Apple iOS > Package Contents are listed a ton of old files that have been removed / renamed etc. I can still check them off, but they no longer exist.
How do I clear or refresh this list? All these files at one time lived in an "assets" folder that was included in the packaging. The assets folder still exists, but many of those files have been deleted. Sadly, the FlashBuilder UI doesn't seem to want to refresh and get rid of those old items. How can I do that?
    Thanks

    Hey Andy,
I do not have a solution but I am having a similar problem. I opened up a project yesterday and the audio sequences were actually in pieces all out of order with large chunks missing. If someone has a solution, perhaps it will apply to both of these situations.

  • Android package contents in Flash Builder 4.5 : file list doesn't update

I keep hitting what looks like a bug in Flash Builder 4.5, and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen it or can help me find a workaround.
The problem occurs when I choose Export Release Build... and try to build an APK for Android. In the second screen of the wizard, under the Package Contents tab, there's a file list and you're supposed to select the files you want in the package. Simple enough. The problem is that this file list does not consistently reflect updates to the project file structure. So I usually see an outdated file list, which might or might not have all the files I actually need to put into the package.
There doesn't seem to be a way to force the wizard to rescan the project and rebuild this list. I've tried restarting Flash Builder, deleting bin-release-temp, cleaning all projects, and a few other things besides. So far nothing works. (The Flash view always picks up my changes within a few seconds.)
It seems like my only option is to use the command-line compiler. Not the end of the world, but I'd rather that the wizard just do what it's supposed to do.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked, but that doesn't seem to be the problem in my case. I've attached a screen shot showing the problem – the list of source files in the Flash view doesn't match the list of source files in the Export Release Build wizard. The red boxes highlight one of the areas where they differ.
The file I want to include is StagesLoader/assets/game/assets.swf. (The directory StagesLoader/assets is included into the project as a separate source path.) As you can see, the "rooms" folder in that directory is available in the export wizard, but "assets.swf" is not.

  • How to search package contents?

Is there any way to get Finder to search package contents?
I'm trying to find some duplicate audio files that are buried in the Media folders inside some GarageBand files. I know I can use the contextual menu to "Show Package Contents", but I don't want to search each of them manually.
I've tried searching for visible or invisible (even though I don't think package contents actually qualify as invisible files). Anyhow, that didn't work. I also tried searching using the "file exists" criterion, but no dice.
I can see the file right there in the Media folder, and I can't get Finder to even recognize that it's there, let alone find any duplicates. This is pretty frustrating. I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

    Cool!
I DL'd EasyFind, installed it, and gave it a try. It works like gangbusters, it's dirt simple, completely intuitive, and FAST!! No more dealing with that stupid Finder that forces me to select "Name" as the preferred search criterion every time I want to search for a filename...which accounts for >95% of all my searches.
    Problem solved. Thanks!
