Bounded and unbounded taskflow in ADF

dear all,
What is bounded and unbounded task flow in ADF?
Regards,
Sam

As pointed out, you can read this in the doc. But the quick answer is a bounded task flow is a reusable flow with a single start point. An unbounded task flow is usually the top level entry into your application in which any point in the task flow could be the starting point.

    .) all forms (and template) are in the unbound task-flow (adfc-confi.xml)
    .) one form can be called with an parameter from another form - problem solved with an bound task-flow (task-flow-definition.xml) - it works very good
    With "Create ADF Menu" (on adfc-confi.xml) the JDev create
      root_menu.xml
      <control-flow-rule> entries in adf-config.xml
      <managed-bean> entrie in adf-config.xml
    The code from the breadcrumbs.jsff looks like
      <af:breadCrumbs value="#{root_menu}" var="rootMenuNode"

        </f:facet>
      </af:breadCrumbs>
    I have now two problems:
    1.) by navigation between the pages(in the definition of the unbound task-flow (adfc-confi.xml)) the breadcrumb displayed only the current page but not the history way.
    2.) after call the form with an parameter (need bound task-flow (task-folw-definition.xml)) all breadcrumb informations are cleared - nothing is displayed
    can anybody help?

    Hi,
    the generated menu model only works for unbound flows. You can call a bound flow from such a menu, but this doesn't show breadcrumbs within the bound taskflow. For this you need to specify that the bound taskflow creates a breadcrumb model and then it will only show what is within. Have a look at the taskflow section in the developer guide.

  • Java:comp/env bound and unbound at the same time

    I have a ServiceLocator class which has a method that looks up and caches EJB remote home objects. I am occasionally getting a NameNotFoundException from this method telling me that env is not bound when I try doing a lookup using a JNDI name such as "java:comp/env/ejb/MyEjb". What is so odd is that this lookup is working for other JNDI names under java:comp/env, as well as in other cases when using the same JNDI name which causes the exception. It appears that env is bound in some cases but not in others.
    This only occurs when I restart my JBoss server after a client has opened an HttpSession. If I also restart the client then the error doesn't occur. The client is a VB application which calls my JBoss web application's Servlets. I'm using JBoss 4.0.1.
    Can anyone give me a suggestion as to where I should look for the problem? Thanks in advance.

    A little more information:
    The ServiceLocator is a Singleton object which runs as part of the server, and has its InitalContext bound the first time it's used (this happens in the ServiceLocator Singleton's constructor). The weirdness I'm experiencing is that it completes several lookups successfully before bombing on a lookup which uses the same JNDI name of a lookup that previously worked -- it literally works on one call and then fails on the next. The difference between the times it works and the time it doesn't is that the successful ServiceLocator method invocations originate within Servlets or EJBs and the unsuccessful invokation is made from within a JMX component. Still it's the same ServiceLocator Singleton, with the same internal InitialContext, so it would follow that the InitialContext would never lose a binding, regardless of the type of component that calls the method which does a lookup.
    To further illustrate here's the scenario I'm dealing with:
    1. The server is started.
    2. The client is started.
    3. All is well -- the client calls the servlets, which either (a) call the ServiceLocator to get EJBs or (b) invoke JMX services (MBean methods) which call the ServiceLocator to get EJBs.
    4. The server is restarted.
    5. The client makes a call to a servlet.
    6. The servlet makes a call to the ServiceLocator method to get an EJB, and within that EJB the ServiceLocator is again called to get another EJB:
    a. Lookup of java:comp/env/ejb/EJBOne is successful
    b. Lookup of java:comp/env/ejb/EJBTwo is successful
    7. The client calls a method on a JMX service (MBean) which internally uses the ServiceLocator to get an EJB. In this case the lookup fails:
    c. Lookup of java:comp/env/ejb/EJBThree fails with the following exception stack trace:
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: env not bound
    at org.jnp.server.NamingServer.getBinding(NamingServer.java:491)
    at org.jnp.server.NamingServer.getBinding(NamingServer.java:499)

    at javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(InitialContext.java:351)
    at com.mycom.util.ServiceLocator.getRemoteHome(ServiceLocator.java:119)
    etc...
    7. The client receives the error and calls another servlet to refresh itself. This servlet looks up the same EJB which the JMX service was trying to lookup, and this time the ServiceLocator has no trouble finding it:
    b. Lookup of java:comp/env/ejb/EJBThree is successful
    In the ServiceLocator's lookup method I have added debug code to show the HashCode of the InitialContext being used, and in fact it is the same InitialContext being used each time.
    What I think is happening is that normally in my application when the JMX components invoke ServiceLocator methods these methods are never doing lookups and are always getting objects previously cached by lookups made by previous ServiceLocator method calls made the Servlets or EJBs. In other words the above scenario is the only time a JMX component is invoking a ServiceLocator method in which the requested object isn't already cached and the lookup actually needs to happen. The "java:comp/env" name is somehow not available within the context of JMX, and hence the lookup fails.
    So it appears that within the context of normal (non-JMX) components the JNDI name "java:comp/env" is bound to the InitialContext, but within the context of a JMX component the InitialContext temporarily loses this binding. Is this the really case? If so can someone point me to a reference in which this behavior explained?

    Than I add this managedbean in the Taskflow too. There is no exception, but bind variables has not been set.

    Hi,
    most likely the managed bean got created in the adfc-config.xml file. If then it has a scope of pageFlowsScope, then it cannot be found. Move the managed bean or use it with a scope of requestScope or backingBeanScope

  • Unbounded Taskflow Structure Good Options?

    Hello, i'm developing a fusion web application with jdeveloper 12c and i have some issues with my bounded taskflows and my unbounded taskflow.
    I have a lot of bounded taskflow (one big per functionallity). I started to develop the app when i was learning adf so now i know i have some things that are not done in the best way.
    Now i need to have my unbounded taskflow with a structure like this
    home
    - employee
      - create
      - edit
      - view
    I have a taskflow where i determine which crud option is being called but by now i have every crud page in just one big task flow.
    home
    - employee (with a big taskflow).
    Additionally i want to bookmark the link when im editing or viewing
    So, i was wondering if anyone can give me an advice about which will be the best way to achieve something like that.
    I dont need the code just the proof of concepts to do this.
    Thank you.

    Hello, how are you?
    Well, for the structure you can see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cInX_FMZJaQ
    The video shows how to create the structure, the herarchy, the way you can set the pages and how to create a template that changes depending on the page you are.
    For the create, edit and specific functionalities, you can google what you need exactly.
    Normally i google for adf task flow but you can be more exact like: creating a record with adf task flow .
    Hope it helps.

    Frederico.

  • Calling bounded task flows imported as ADF libraries

    Hello,
    I have a main application referencing many bounded task flows included in ADF libraries.
    Is there a way to make the application not throwing exceptions if one of these libraries including the called task flow is not found?
    The first question is how to catch the exception "Caused by: oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-02001"
    The second problem is that once an exception is thrown , the only way to make the application work again with that task flow is to redeploy the whole application with the missing library in the proper place.
    It seems it is not possible to just add the library at run-time.
    Redoplying an application also seems to invalidate all the current open sessions.
    Could you give me suggestions or best practice on making the main application more indipendent from the libraries?
    Thanks.

    Hello Frank,
    It seems there's no way to catch the exception thrown when dinamically calling a bounded task flow in a (missing) library. In facts, I added the single page of the main application as default exception handler activity. I also tried to catch ALL exceptions in the Launcher class below, but I had no luck at all. Task flows are called dinamically from this common piece of code (appropriate for the UI Shell template):
    try {
    if (newTab) {
    TabContext.getCurrentInstance().addTab(title, taskflowId);
    } else {
    TabContext.getCurrentInstance().addOrSelectTab(title,
    taskflowId);
    } catch (TabContext.TabOverflowException toe) {
    toe.handleDefault();
    } catch (ControllerException ce) {
    System.out.println("The flow arrives here " + title + ": " + taskflowId);
    } catch (RuntimeException re) {
    System.out.println("The flow arrives here " + title + ": " + taskflowId);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println("The flow arrives here " + title + ": " + taskflowId);
    I also tried to call the task flow in a remote application, but TabContext.getCurrentInstance().addTab(title, taskflowId) expects the taskflowid to be part of the main application, not of the remote app, since addTab() always add a "/" before the taskflowid String passes as parameter.
    So again my question: is there a way to profit by the dynamic features coming along with the UI Shell template, where task flows can be really referenced and called each time at run-time, no matter if libraries containing these task flows are present or not when deploying the caller application?
    I also repeat that from the tests I have done it looks like I can deploy the caller application without the referenced ADF libraries in their place (containing taskflows that should be called at run-time on user actions), but the problem in this case is that after that moment there's no way to fix the problem by just adding the missing library, that is you cannot place the library where it is expected to be and expect the caller to work after next call; this will just not work until next deploy of the calling application when libraries are in place . We also don't want completely separate web applications. We need task flows integration with the chance to modify and deploy these taskflows as ADF libraries at run time, separately from the caller of the taskflow, without needing to restart/deploy the caller application everytime a libraries changes or a missing library is added.

  • Cannot run a page from outside the context of an unbounded taskflow

    JDeveloper 11.1.2.1
    I have a JSF page placed on one and only one unbounded taskflow (adfc-config.xml).
    When I want to run that page from the application navigator or from the design editor I got an alert that I have to select a starting activity out of two choices. Both choices point to the same unbounded taskflow. The file adfc-config.xml exists only ones in my application.
    Why JDeveloper offers these choices although the context is set by the only one taskflow ?

    When cpu=100% and memory increases, jconsole constantly returned similar trace:
    In all trace, I see that common is:
    oracle.jbo.server.QueryCollection.populateRow(QueryCollection.java:2203)
    oracle.jbo.server.QueryCollection.fetch(QueryCollection.java:2088)
    Therefore, I believe that function populateRow make infinity loop (or fuction fech make infinity loop, called populateRow), but I don’t know populteRow or fetch code.
    tomcat Version: 5.5.16
    Jdeveloper Version: 10.1.3.0.4
    Adf Business component Version: 10.1.3.36.73
    Java version: 1.5.0_05
    Please, any oracle ACE could help me?

    Feb 28, 2008 10:25:53 AM oracle.adf.view.faces.webcache.component.UICache getFragmentFromCache
    INFO: fragment (Facturacion.jspx:_id4) fetch: cache missIn this example, I belive that user is resuming the Facturacion.jspx page. In my code I have this line:
    It’s corresponding to menu.
    I have looking this documentation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/web_cache002.htm
    In this documentation, first access, the cache miss, but the following times the cache could hit. . When my server gain cpu and memory I look that the following times the cache always miss in all pages. Subsequently tomcat no reply and the malicious thread, execute Armageddon trace. This behavior of the cache is strange, right?
    I’m sure that I’m making anything that fetch in queryCollection make big loop.
    I have redefining getRangeSize and CurrentRow of my CustomViewObject (all viewOjects about my applications extends CustomViewObject and CustomViewObject extends viewObject) and I looked correct rangesize (not -1). I got system.out.println(getFetchedRowCount()) in createRow and obtain 13 or 15. I belive that It’s correct.
    Another example of problematic trace is (in this case is in preparemodel):

  • Is it possible to change the font size and weight in an ADF table?

    Is it possible to change the font size and weight in an ADF table? I have tried to change the various font size and weight settings for a table and its columns and they seem to have no effect on the font size or weight in a table row.

    You would use skinning to modify font-size & weight for the table.
    In addition to the link suggested by Vinod,
    Take a look at http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/01/adf-skinning-in-jdeveloper-11g.html

  • File Sender FCC doesn't allow repetitive segments and unbounded together

    File Sender FCC give me error if I use the repeatitive structure and * (Unbounded) together. Here is the recordset  structure  UNH,1,BGM,1,DTM,1,NAD,1,CNI,1,STS,1,RFF,*,DTM,1 for which I am getting the error "Conversion of file content to XML failed at position 0: java.lang.Exception: ERROR consistency check in recordset structure validation (line no. 12: missing structure(s) before type 'DTM' "
    If I use the recordset structure UNH,1,BGM,1,DTM,1,NAD,1,CNI,1,STS,1,RFF,2,DTM,1 then I am able to parse the file. But My requirement is that I will expect variable no of RFF segments in my structure. If you guys could help me that would be great.

    Hi Mohammad
    In this case try to maintain the following in content conversion parameters.
    Key Field Name = Key
    <xml>.fieldFixedLengths      = 1,......................
    <xml>.fieldNames                 = Key,.................
    <xml>.keyFieldValue            = 1
    <xml>.keyFieldInStructure    = ignore
    <xml>.endSeparator            = ,
    Think this should solve your problem.

    Hi,
    I have a question on how to create tooltip on Previous and Next button in ADF UI.
    The tooltip for Previous button shows previous record id and previous record name.
    The tooltip for Next button shows next record id and next record name.
    How can you get previous and next record info easily when you are on the current record?
    Thanks,

  • What is in bound and outbound.

    what is in bound and outbound.

    The application document is created. The first step in the outbound process involves creating an application document such as a purchase order or sales order and saving it in the database tables. This step is no different from the way in which these documents are normally created. It is the following steps that have relevance to EDI. The document is
    created and leaves some hooks for the EDI process to begin.
    The IDoc is generated. The application document just created is now formatted to an IDoc format. At this point you can think of IDoc as yet another format in which the application document has been represented. For example, think of how a date can be stored in different formats—imagine a date as a document with three components: day, month, and year. In one case, you represent it as MM/DD/YYYY, a standard American way of representing a date. To make it meaningful for a German partner, you have to represent it as DD.MM.YY. IDocs follow a similar concept of representing information in different ways. The data in the application document format is suitable for the application modules, screens, and internal programs. A document in an IDoc format is suitable for processing by EDI components, as later sections explain in more detail.
    The IDoc is transferred from SAP to the operating system layer. The IDoc created in Step 2 resides in the SAP database repository. This IDoc document must be passed down to the operating system layer for processing by the EDI subsystem. In Step 3, the IDoc is transferred to the operating system as a text file. The document is still in an IDoc format. The only difference is the medium of storage.
    The IDoc is converted to EDI standards. The IDoc format is an SAP proprietary format. For EDI purposes, the document in IDoc format has to be converted into an EDI standard format. Third-party software called a translator carries out the transformation process and reports status back to the SAP system. SAP refers to these translators as EDI subsystems, and has certified several subsystems for connectivity to SAP. SAP takes no responsibility for translation. Thus, from SAP's perspective, after the IDoc is delivered to the subsystem, SAP does not have control over the process, but it maintains the status reported by the EDI subsystem.
    The EDI document is transmitted to the business partner. After the document is
    converted to an EDI standard format, it is transmitted to a trading partner based on the partner's EDI settings. This step is not part of the SAP EDI architecture, but is mentioned here to describe the complete process from a business perspective.
    The EDI subsystem reports status to SAP. When an IDoc is under the control of the EDI subsystem, the subsystem can optionally report the state of processing at various milestones back to the SAP system. This mechanism is always recommended because it provides complete visibility of the process from within SAP, and the user does not have to be involved with the intricacies of the EDI subsystem.

  • How to create and configure proxies in ADF mobile using OWSM client agent?

    Hi
    Can anyone please tell me how to create and configure proxies in ADF mobile application using Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) Lite Mobile ADF Application Agent. I read it in mobile document that,
    For secured web services, the user credentials are dynamically injected using ADF Mobile uses Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) Lite Mobile ADF Application Agent to create and configure proxies, as well as to request services through the proxies. The user credentials are injected into the OWSM enforcement context when proxies are configured.
    I am new with this OWSM, can anyone please give me some hints like how to proceed further for implementing authentication using OWSM lite mobile ADF Application Agent??
    Thanks in advance
    Raj

    Hi Juan
    The demo is very useful, and in that Shay describes about the remote login using a regular ADF webapplication as a secured one and deploying it into the server. But I would like to know how to create a local login using OWSM client agent? .
    Without creating a regular ADF webapplication, how can i call secured webservices(i.e., by using OWSM client agent how to create and configure proxies to call secured webservice, where the user credentials are injected into webservice request by OWSM client as mentioned in ADF mobile document)??
    Regards
    Raj

    Hi Sreeni,
    See any delivery that is inbound i.e. bound to come in like Returns from Customer or Delivery from a Vendor to us or any other delivery which is coming to us.....
    Similarly any delivery that is outbound i.e. bound to go out like the deliveries we do to customers are Outbound deliveries
    Reward if helpful
