BPM process interactive activity(JSP) - external webservice method interac

I am using Oracle BPM studio 10.3.1.0.
I have one external web service published on glassfish application server, I have introspected it in my BPM process using its WSDL.
Now one of my BPM process interactive activity is there, which is represented by one JSP, I am giving some input to my JSP.
I want this input to be passed to the web service method as a parameter, and it should fetch the output, so basically I want to invoke the web service method, could you please guide me how to do it?
Thanks & Regards
Ashish

Hy Ashih
I dont know if this is best way to do that, but I have a similar situation here, and I'm using AJAX do call the webservice method by BPM and retrieve data.
Something like this:
1 - Create the XMLHttpRequest() object in your jsp (if you need I have the entire code)
2 - Create the a JavaScript method for to call the OBPM method in your component
function mymethod(arg1, arg2, arg3)
xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function()
                                                  if( xmlhttp.readyState==4 )
                                                       document.getElementById("AnyDIV").innerHTML = xmlhttp.responseText;
     var resp = "<f:invokeUrl var='YourComponenteName' methodName='YourMethodName'/>";
//Incude how many args your need here
     resp+="&arg1=" + arg1;
     resp+="&arg2=" + arg2;
     resp+="&arg3=" + arg3;
     xmlhttp.open("POST",resp,true);
     xmlhttp.send(null);
3 - You'll need a div html tag called "AnyDIV" to receive the BPM answer
4 - On you BPM component, in YourMethodName method (needs to be ServerSide = no), create two args, the first is httpRequest type (name request), and the second is httpResponse type (name response) (fuego lib)
5 - Type the code below in your BPM method to send info back to the JSP
//getting the args
String arg1 = request.getParameter(string : "arg1");
String arg2 = request.getParameter(string : "arg2");
String arg3     = request.getParameter(string : "arg3");
//Do the webservice call here, prepare the html answer and put it into an string variable
strReturn = "bla bla bla";
//Send the anwser back to the jsp
response.bodyTextContent(arg1 : strReturn);
Or you can do this using xml answer and deal with the tags with javascript
that's it

  • BPM processes,receiving signals (events) & correlation to existing instance

    Hi,
    BPM 11g/SOA Suite 11g (R1 PS2)
    I am wondering whether it is possible to receive signals (EDN events) into a running process instance. The documentation describes how a process can be started by an event. I would like to be able to feed an event (signal) into a running process (just like we do with correlation in BPEL processes). Is that possible - and if so, how?
    Along the same lines, can BPM processes receive messages through externally exposed WebService operations - into correlated process instances? For example: I have started the process to create a new employee in the organization and I want to inform the process instances taking care of this employee that she will start on a later date than originally assumed (or not at all because she has accepted another job). I know the unique employee id for this new hire. How can I configure the BPM process such that this incoming call after the instance has started is fed into a Receive activity in the process instance working on this employee?
    Maybe a similar is question would be: can a message catch event be used without a corresponding message throw event - to catch incoming messages asynchronously and not related to a message sent by the process instance.
    thanks very much for your insights,
    Lucas

    I also tried DB Adapters and it is not working for my scenario. Needed help/pointers from a BPM Guru \.
    As per my business scenario, If there any update in the database (offline approval. not using worklist) then i should complete the running BPM process for approval.
    1. To achieve this, I created a adapter to poll and it is working in polling. What is not working is picking the update in process and mark is closed/complete.
    2. I tried using Catch Event with continuation mode (but it needs throw event to begin with).
    3. I also tried ‘Receive event’, which also needs start event for continuation.
    4. If i use Initiate mode for catch event then it initiate a new process and mark it close and does not do anything with original process (having this catch event). This catch event is still waiting.
    5. If i use “receive” event with Initiate mode then jdeveloper is giving compilation time error saying that some service is not referenced in composite.
    6. I have also tried other options of using “Sub-process” or another process and invoking it but nothing seems to work.
    Any help/pointers? Thanks a lot.

  • Invoking A BPM Process

    Hi All,
    1. What is general architectural practice of exposing a BPM Process? We are into development and currently calling BPM processes directly using WSDL URLs generated by EM.
    2. In how many ways can we expose a BPM process? For e.g. a) Web Service b) EJB Service ???
    3. What is most widely used method/architecture of calling a BPM Process?
    4. What is most widely used tool/API to call BPM process?
    Thanks.

    A BPM process 'start' activity can have many implementations, only one of them is 'Message' (i.e. a web service interface).
    A process can also be instantiated using a 'signal' / event if you're adopting a loosely coupled, event driven architecture (read about Oracle Event delivery network).
    To see all your options, right click on your 'Start' -> Properties -> Implementation -> Implementation type

  • BPM Process not getting started

    Dear All,
    I have created a BPM Process, and have attached a webservice with the start event.After deploying the Process DC I am getting my start webservice in my wsnavigator. When I am executing the start webservice I am getting the following error.
    Web service returned error. Fault Code: "(http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/)Server" Fault String: "Process start has been triggered."
    But my process is inprogress but not getting proceeded to the next step , it is stuck in start itself.
    how can i make my webservice work?
    Regards,
    Shamila

    Hi Shamila,
    To me this looks like a configuration issue. You can trouble shoot it this way
    First try to check if the web services is up and running
    Second check your configuration, for this, in NWA Manage Processes application get all the 'failed processes'
    -check if your in-progress process is listed here-
    - if so then open the Error log tab for the process in the details section in Manage Process
    - See the logs listed here; generally the last log will tell you if your configuration is correct or not
    -if you figure out that the configuration isn't done or is improper then correct the same in provider systems and/or application communication configuration
    - then once this is done, re-query the failed process and use the "Recover" option

  • JSP-BPM Process-Web Service interaction

    Hi all
    I am new to Oracle bpm studio. I am having one very important question.
    I want to understand the JSP-BPM-Webservice interaction in Oracle BPM studio BPM Process, as we have an enterprise application having servlets, ejbs, etc, for these servlets & ejbswe are creating web services to expose their functionality, through a BPM process. We have created jsps for showing the result fetched from the external web services imported in our BPM process.
    So in brief, jsp and external webservices are imported in our BPM project, configured as interactive & global activity respectively.
    Please guide us for the JSP-BPM-Webservice interaction.
    How to make the webservice working in response of the jsp, getResult Button? So that on pressing the button on jsp the webservice can return the result and the result can be diplayed on another jsp?
    How to bind the webservice with bpm object, and pass the values through the bpm flow?
    Could you please guide me through this small demo application?
    Please please please reply my question, eagerly waiting for your reply.......................................
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Sujata
    Yes we did the same, as given in some tutorials how to create the "Web service catalogue component", we did it, introspected the webservice.
    Now we need to pass the inputs to the add method of the web service, so that it can return the result back to the jsp. So in order to achieve this we created one interactive activity component & object for jsp in the main BPM process and for the same jsp, one interactive activity component in the screenflow, and to interact with the webservice, we created the global activity in the main BPM process. We edited this global activity and dragged the add method definition there.
    So now we are facing issues with jsp-web service interaction, they are not interacting, so we want somebody to guide us how to enable this with step by step instructions if somebody has done it already. We have already gone thru a lot of tutorials & forum but we want to resolve this asap.
    Thanks & Regards

  • How to access a method in webservice catalogued component in BPM Process

    Hi
    Can anyone explain me how to access a method in webservice catalogued component in BPM Process using an imported jsp in bpm process.
    Thanks & Regards
    Ashish

    If Class B only has a reference to an Interface A, and that reference points to a concrete instance of Class A, then of course Class B can still call the method on Interface A. The method for concrete instance Class A is called behind the scenes.
    That's how interfaces work. That's what they're good for.
    Look at the code in the java.sql package for examples. Connection, Statement, ResultSet - all are interfaces. But behind the scenes you're using the concrete implementations provided by your JDBC driver. You don't know or care what those classes are or their package structure. All you do is make calls to the java.sql interface API, and it all works. - MOD

  • Interactive activity, external task example???

    Hi,
    I'm trying to search for a simple external task example, however it is totally imposible to find anything ... :(
    I would like to make a few questions about it. When you create an external task in a interactive activity, you can specify an URL where the request will be redirected when you click on a external task, but how do you send the information about the specific process you want to work with in the URL? is it possible to pass parameters to this URL ? which is exactly the correct use of the external URL configuration? if I pass the control to an external system, how this system is able to know which BPM process instance to work with?
    Regards,
    Antonio.

    Hi,
    I've recently found out that Aqualogic simply sends the information about the process as request parameters to the external system:
    taskIn:0
    activity:TareaExterna
    instanceId:/ExpenseReport#Default-1.0/6/0
    participantId:Peter Jones
    Very easy, however it is quite frustrating not finding anything about it. I agree with you that it is an upcoming technology, however the documentation of a product should have a minimum of quality, specially coming from an important company as BEA. They offer a functionality and simply do not explain how it works.
    In any case, thanks a lot for answering my question!! :)
    Best regards,
    Antonio.

  • Initiating BPM Process Instances from External Web Service Call

    I'm attempting to update the HelloWorld example so that I can create an instance of the process from an External Web Services Call rather than via the Workspace. Our current SOA Architecture is configured so that all BPM instances are managed through a .NET SmartClient via the Service Bus and the use of PAPI W/S and so I'm wishing to recreate this capability in the new BPM.
    I understand the replacement for PAPI W/S is Human Workflow so I've therefore updated and republished the HelloWorld Example with an Exposed 'TaskService' Service for the Human Task within the BPM Process.
    I've then attempted to reference the TaskService through our existing BPM, and have been able to import a number of generic WSDL's as follows:
    Task Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskService/TaskServicePort?WSDL
    Task Metadata Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskMetadataService/TaskMetadataServicePort?WSDL
    Task Query Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskQueryService/TaskQueryService?WSDL
    When I examine the available operations for these generic services, there are quite a lot, each of which have a fairly complex schema. I believe I should be using the TaskService: InitiateTask Operation to create an instance of my BPM Process but my questions are:
    - Is the above the correct method of interacting with BPM Instances from an external system such as the Service Bus?
    - Does anyone have any examples of a basic XML payload that would initiate a process instance?

    I created an process with a message start event and can call it from an external web service call. I can also pass input arguments and map those to process data objects. However I can not find how to return data as response to the external web service call as e.g. the process instance id.
    Is it possible to this?

  • Method of Interactive activity

    In BPM studio 10g, I create an interactive activity and its main task is a method (PBL). Then, I delete this activity.
    However, this method is still in the dropdown list when I add another new interactive activity. How to remove it?

    Hi YE,
    when you delete an activity, the method associated with it does not get deleted.
    To delete the method, open the "OutLine" view of the process (double click the process. The outline view should appear at the bottom left corner. alternatively go to Window ---> Show View ---> Outline). There you will find all the Activities and methods in the process. Right click on the method you want to delete. You will get the delete option.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers !

    Hi all,
    I try to use RFC webservice in my BPM as below:
    1. Expose RFC as webservice using CAF (import external service RFC and then create application service use this external service)

  • How to invoke BPM object instance variable from interactive activity?

    I have a screenflow with an automatic activity "A" followed by an interactive activity "B". "B" calls a BPM object "X" and uses a JSP presentation to show its attributes. Is there a way to use another BPM object, say type "Y", create an instance variable of that type inside "A", and get its attributes values from the JSP page associated to "B"?
    Edited by: user6473912 on 20/07/2010 03:37 PM

    Try this. It assumes you have:
    <li> a user named "auto"
    <li> a project variable named "customerType"
    <li> an instance variable named "orderAmount" that is a decimal
    <li> an instance variable named "order" that is a BPM Object that has attributes named "customerName" and "amount"
    ps as ProcessService
    xmlObject as Fuego.Xml.XMLObject
    do
      connectTo ps
          using url = Fuego.Server.directoryURL,
          user = "auto",
          password = "auto"
      instF as InstanceFilter
      create(instF, processService : ps)
      addAttributeTo(instF, variable : "customerType", comparator : IS, value : "Gold")
      instF.searchScope = SearchScope(participantScope : ParticipantScope.ALL, statusScope : StatusScope.ONLY_INPROCESS)
      for each inst in getInstancesByFilter(ps, filter : instF) do
        // here's how to get the value inside a primitive instance variable
        orderAmtObj as Object = getVar(inst, var : "orderAmount")
        // here's how to get the value of attributes inside a complex BPM Object instance variable
        //    - in this case this is an "order" object with two attributes (customerName and amount)
        orderObj as Object = (getVar(inst, var : "order"))
        xmlObject = Fuego.Xml.XMLObject(createXmlTextFor(DynamicXml, object : orderObj, topLevelTag : "xsi"))
        logMessage "The value of the order object's customer name is: " +
               selectString(xmlObject, xpath : "customerName")
        logMessage "The value of the order object's order amount is: " +
               selectNumber(xmlObject, xpath : "amount")
        // here's a rather uninspired way to retrieve who the participant is that was assigned the instance
        logMessage "The participant assigned to this instance is: " + inst.participantId
      end
    on exit
      disconnectFrom ps

  • How to  Instantiate Oracle BPM Process Webservice from the OSB

    Hi,
    In our project we have one requirement i.e Instantiate Oracle BPM Process Webservice from the OSB.After register BPM service in to OSB I am creating one Message flow to instantiate BPM Process.
    first call to startSession Operation, then use response of startSession operation is used as reqest for BPM process operation.
    Can u tell me how do we use response of startSession operation to the request of BPM process.
    Thanks in Advance.

    An easier way of instantiating a BPM process via a WS call is to set the authentication type to 'Username Token Profile' on your web service operation in BPM studio and then redeploy it. If you use this type of security on your bpm process operations you can start the process in one call instead of having to get a session first and then starting the process.
    Once you've updating the process, re-register the new process WSDL and business service with OSB (or import it manually) and you can just call the start process operation in one request (passing a username and password using the WS-UsernameToken method) without having to get a session first.
    Hope this all make sense,
    Mike.

  • Invoking 'active directory external authentication plug-in'  from login.jsp

    Hi
    I am using the Oracle AS 10g on Unix. We have a web application in JAVA based on OC4J Framework.
    Currently user use application url for accessing the login page, enters credentials and then the authentication is done through LDAP.
    Now we have to remove the login page from application. i.e. once user is successfully logged in Windows on his pc, and tries to access our application through it's url, he must be automatically authenticated using the credentials entered in windows and display the welcome page of application. Same as any intranet application.
    For this requirement, we have 'active directory external authentication plug-in' installed on server.
    What we need to know is how this process will work and changes required in our jsp page to invoke this plug-in and authenticate user by accessing windows-credentials automatically.
    kindly let me know

    Hi
    I am currently using NTLM to fetch the windows username and then creating an anonymous connection with the LDAP Server.
    Then i serach using the user name in ldap directory.
    NTLM is no longer required , instead we have 'active directory external authentication plug-in' installed on LDAP.
    as far as i know the plug-in will process the kerberos ticket generated by windows to automatically authenticate.
