Bridge bypass acr on open raw file to photoshop?

In cs5 one could select a raw file in bridge and open it one of two ways: press Enter to open the raw file in acr (then open button from acr to photoshop), or Shift-Enter to open file in photoshop bypassing view in acr.  This does not seem to work in cs6.  Is this a bug or was this function intentionally removed?

Robert, I wasn't aware of the Shift - Enter facility before, which appears to be a shortcut way to just tell the raw converter to use the existing (or default) parameters - much as if you open ACR, then just press the Open button.
I think this may be an inadvertent omission...  Or maybe a config entry that we haven't found yet...
It seems the functionality is still there.  Try this:  Hold the shift key down, then right-click a raw image and choose Open (and remember to let up the Shift key right away).  It functions as you remember, opening into Photoshop CS6 without displaying the Camera Raw dialog.
Let me just add that discovering a 64 bit version of Bridge with Photoshop CS6 was pleasant.

You can't directly but can use DNG Converter to convert your files so ACR can read and process them.

  • Can I open raw files using photoshop elements

Can I open raw files using photoshop elements

Yes, depending on the Camera Model and version of PSE.
All camera makers like to make slight changes to the RAW format for their new models. Adobe then take a few months to produce a camera RAW plug-in to process the new format.
Give you PSE version and camera model and we could be more help.

  • Opening RAW files in Photoshop CC

Why can't I open my RAW files in Photoshop CC?  I am only able to open the jpgs.  I browse the thumbnails in Bridge and then correct in the RAW menu but when I request to open them in Photoshop, they cannot open.

If you can open the RAW files in Camera RAW, then you don't need to update, but it won't hurt to do so.  The thing is, if youare able to do your edits in Camera RAW, I can't think of a reason they wouldn't open in Photoshop when done.  Nor have I heard of such a problem before.  Are you definitely clicking on Open image, and not Done?
Try opening a JPG in ACR.  Select it in Bridge, and use Ctrl (Cmd) r.  Make some adjustments and try and open in Photoshop.

  • Actions Possible Without Opening Raw File in Photoshop?

Is it possible to record certain actions on a raw file without opening the file in Photoshop?
Let's assume I have 250 files, all needing lens correction (and maybe other common tweaks) as a basic first step.  I'd like to be able to record an action that (1) opens my NEF file in ACR; (2) makes the lens correction based on the profile for the particular lens I used; (3) [other tweak--say noise reduction]; (4) [other tweak--say color temperature]; and then (5) closes the file generating nothing but the .xmp file.
Then when I go to work on each file, all my basic corrections have been made so that when I reopen later in ACR, I only have to make custom changes before finally opening in Photoshop.
I've tried a few things, scanned the forums, checked the online help center, gone through a few Adobe TV tutorials, but I can't figure out how to do it.
    Any help?
    I'm in CS6.
I just realized that this question probably belongs here rather than the ACR discussion.  I apologize for cross posting.

No...an Action is something that records something in Photoshop. Yes, an Action can record ACR settings....but you need to actually end up opening the image in Photoshop and it will render the file.
What you really want to do is to look into Camera Raw Presets and using them while in Bridge. You would open a representative image, adjust the image, save a preset and then apply that preset to as many images as you want to in Bridge. Also note you can open multiple images in ACR, select them and adjust multple images at once. You can also adjust an image and then in Bridge, copy the settings from the one file and paste them to others.
Lots of way to accomplish what you want but not really by Actions in Photoshop.

  • Bridge CS4 won't open RAW files from Canon 70D

I have Photoshop/Bridge CS4 which used to read CR2 Raw files fine from old Canon 30D@.  I've just purchased a Canon 70D.  Bridge CS4 will read the MOV video files fine, but not the Raw CR2.  I've downloaded and installed Adobe DNG Converter 8.5, but when I open it and it asks to open files to convert, the CR2 files are still unreadable and greyed out.  I'm on a Mac OSX 10.9.4.  Is there some way I could  preview RAW files from the 70D in Bridge CS4, and open in Camera Raw?

You need to upgrade to PSE12. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software) You could also use the Canon software that came with your camera to convert to tiff, which would open in PSE11.
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • How to open RAW files in photoshop cs3

Three years ago I purchased a Nikon 7000 and the cs3 will not open the Raw files

That would require ACR 6.3 which shipped with Photoshop CS5. Your best bet is to convert your Raw files to dng format  and then they should open in CS3.
Get the latest DNG converter here:

  • Opening raw files in photoshop cs3

can anyone help please, can i open raw image files in cs3? do i need a plug in or a download?

You need Adobe Camera Raw (ACR).  Go to the download page and download the last vesion for CS3, believe it was 4.6.
Be aware that each version of Photoshop has its own series of ACR.
So if you have a latter model camera it might not work with an older ACR.  To check look here  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407111.html

  • Can't open Raw files in Photoshop CS6 using Nikon D7100?

I have a Nikon D7100 and recently did a photoshoot where I shot in Raw. Upon uploading my images and then attempting to open them in Photoshop it came up with a pop up saying that photoshop is unable to open that camera raw file. I have downloaded the adobe recommended converters but those don't seem to work either. Help?

The Nikon D7100 didn't get support until Camera Raw version 7.4; CS6 shipped with 7.0 (and is compatible up until 8.3). Did you go through Help > Updates?
Also, versions of Camera Raw above version 8.3 won't work on anything below Windows 7 or Mac 10.7. You'll have to "upgrade" to at most 8.3 to continue using it on the other operating systems.

  • Trying to Open Raw file in Photoshop Elements 4

Does anybody have any ideas how I can open a RAW file from a cannon G10 camera in Photoshop elements 4.0?  The file is coming out of the camera as *.CR2.  I am working on a MAC with OS 10.5.7.
When I try to open a CR2 file in PE 4.0 it says it can not complete my request because photoshop elements does not recognize this file type.
I have also tried to run the file through the dng converter version 5.3 and when I try to open it with PE 4.0 it gives the same message above.
Any ideas of how to get this open and take advantage of the RAW format would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

There is no PSE 7 for mac. However, you may be able to find a version of the Adobe raw converter that will work in PSE 4 that will open your G10 files. I would start with the latest version (5.3) and keep working backwards till you find the latest version that will work in PSE 4. Camera raw updates for PSE mac are here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Macintosh
although the recent updates are listed for PSE 6 only, it's often possible with PSE to use updates that are supposedly too recent for your version of PSE, especially with PSE/Mac.
