Bridge CC Thumbnails

have one folder with only 65 Canon raw pictures in it. Whenever I go to this folder, it will generate 25 thumbnails (info at bottom left). Even when I just minimise the window and again maximise it. Have purged the thumbnail and also tried deleting the cache folders, to no avail, it will always generate 25 thumbnail. It doesn't matter what thumbnail settings I use, it will do the same thing. All other folders are ok, some with 3000 photos in it
What could I do?

See this: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1115020
On second thoughts, don't. There's 14 pages of it.
Which version of Camera Raw are you running?
There's been a bug in ACR since at least version 6 (and maybe even earlier), where some crop settings can cause thumbnail regeneration in Bridge. Also, since ACR 7.3, there has been another (undiagnosed) metadata condition which causes even more regenerations.
We have been assured that the Camera Raw team has been alerted to this. Hopefully there will be a fix in ACR 8.2, but try not to hold your breath while you wait.

  • Bridge: Using Thumbnail Viewing TIF Files

Using the Bridge and thumbnail viewing, our TIF files do not provide a preview. What am I doing wrong?

I think I have things configured correctly in dc20 and dc30. I can view tiffs thru the gui (cv03n) and if I select a tiff from EasyDMS , right click , view thru gui and edit thru gui all work.
If I select a tiff and right click then click on "edit file", the file opens in the picture viewer and the little lock icon appears. I can also then check in the file.
The only item that does not work is the "view file" (without using the gui). I see the "Downloading File" box come up and I can see where the file goes into the temp directory, but the application never starts up.
    DC30 Workstation application entry:

  • Why does Bridge re-thumbnail after rename?

Does anyone know why Bridge re-thumbnails after renaming?  Is it not possible for it to use the existing cached thumbnails and save a LOT of time re-doing work it has already done?

    It does not
Either use the purge cache for folder once and/or refresh the Bridge prefs
by holding down option key while restarting Bridge and try again

  • Any progress on the ACR 7.3+ Bridge repeat thumbnail extraction problem?

Any progress on the ACR 7.3+ Bridge repeat thumbnail extraction problem?
It was very good news that the cropped lens-correction repeat extraction bug was fixed in 8.2, but this newer problem, surfacing in the ACR 7.3 update (and still present in 8.2), is causing a bigger headache than the older bug for some users of Bridge.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to identify a trigger for the condition, which is proving very difficult to recreate reliably, other than it very definitely being introduced with ACR 7.3. Adobe's Steve G told the Bridge forum that the 7.3+ problem had been recreated by Adobe, and was being investigated along with the other (now solved) problem. Has any progress been made? Or is it still a mystery?

    Been there, done that:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/unneccesary_bridge_thumbnail_and_pre view_extraction
They know about it, they just don't know how to recreate it.
Best thing we can do is reliably recreate the fault. My workaround is to only enable Lens Profile Corrections when necessary, as it is a combination of that and some other factor(s) which seems to trigger it.
If you read all the discussions, you'll see that there are two bugs which produce the same symptoms. One introduced in probably ACR 6.1, whichg was fixed in 8.2; and the other was introduced in 7.3 and is ongoing.

  • How do I edit the Bridge Slideshow Thumbnails in Dreamweaver?

I've made a slideshow in Bridge for a photography website in Dreamweaver. It's in an iframe and everything is great except I can't get the thumbnails to move closer to the big image! Where can I edit this?

    Hi Lily,
did you already have a look at David Powers tutorial "Incorporating an Adobe Bridge Web Gallery into a Dreamweaver Page"? There he talks about "Using an <iframe>" too. I'm sure that you will find there  and in the whole tutorial many important hints:

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 Thumbnails

I just installed Adobe CS4 couple days ago! Everything worked fine. I could see the thumbnail previews of all my pictures but today now I can't! It looks like I'm using Camera Raw 5.4 if that matters. I moved my Bridge and Photoshop Icons to my desktop if that makes a difference. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks Mike

    I
suspect (ok, know) that there are some obscure bugs related to files
opened from Lightroom and saved to a different format or filename.  We
try to maintiain the link to Lightroom a little too aggressively.
We're working with the Lightroom team to tighten up the workflow.

  • Bridge CS6- Thumbnails gone and metadata too!

    Hi everyone.
    I am in panic mode.
I am running Bridge CS6 (5.0.2.4) And PS CS6. I recently updated something Can't remember if it was DNG and/or Camera Raw.
My problem started today when i went to view a folder of DNG images in Bridge. Initially the thumbnails of the images showed up, but then one by one, the thumbnails turned into the Adobe DNG icon. This is happening with tiff files too.
I went to Tools>Cache>Purge Cahe for Folder... That did not help. I simply can not re-generate the thumbnails.
I've also noticed that when I click on almost any image, my metadata does not show up in the Meta Data Panel in Bridge.
Another odd thing is all my images are keyworded. I used to be able to click on an image, and see in the Keyword Panel the keywords I chose for that image. That is no longer the case, however when I open that image in Photoshop CS6 and get file info, I see that my keywords and Metadata is there!
And the very last weird thing: If I go to the Bridge menu>Camera raw preferences, nothing happens. I used to be able to set my TIFF and JPEG handling options there.
This happened as I was finishing archiving about 20,000 images so you'll understand that I am a little bit more than upset....
Your help would be most appreciated.
    Jonathan

After reading a few things online I decided to try re-installing the DNG/CR Update 8.4.0. That did not help.
I then decided to delete the ACR cache files, the Adobe Bridge 256, 1024, and Full cache folders, since there were tens of thousands of them.
I realize that Bridge might have to rebuild and it would take a while, but was wondering if something got corrupted there.
    (I hope this wasn't a mistake).
I relaunched bridge, and as expected, none of my images have thumbnails, but I also see no way to re-generate those!
BTW- All this has happened with my back-up of this archive on a seperate HD.
I am unable to get the CR preference window to show in Bridge but I am able to acces the prefs from within PS CS6!
    Going crazy!

  • Adobe Bridge CS5 Thumbnail

We are using Adobe Bridge CS5. How do you display the lens used to take the photo (70-200mm, 17-40mm, 400mm, 24-120mm, etc.) on thumbnail before editing?

In Basic there is still a lot to wish for in Bridge but in all honesty since CS4 Adobe has not shown much interest in developing it further and adding new features many wished for.
You can always add your wish for new features using the Photoshop family .com page, the more that wish the better chance it eventually get realized, but beware, don't hold your breath…
That said, while it seems logic in your workflow it is also a fact that not all lenses are capable of producing the needed metadata, nor is it standardized info

  • Why is Bridge displaying thumbnails in different sizes in same folder?

    Please see screenshot below:
I'm working with large image files, about 10k pixels square, 300Mb or so. They start out as tifs, but when I adjust in Photoshop, then save, sometimes the thumbnails get miniaturized (not always). File size is slightly larger, but that does not seem to be a factor.
NOW I just thought of something:
In Preferences, there is the "Do not process files over - - - size." Now, I have it set for 1GB, but I just checked it and saw this: "Previously cached files will not be affected by changes to this setting. This setting takes effect after the cache has been purged." So maybe what happened is that when I loaded CS5 recently, and changed the setting to 1GB, it didn't take effect as I did not purge the cache.
BUT some of the mini thumbnails files are actually smaller than their larger brethren. I would be willing to try purging anyway, except for my fear that it is going to take HOURS. I mean I have thousands of files, many of them this size or larger. Any thoughts?

I mean I have thousands of files, many of them this size or larger. Any
    thoughts?
This seems to happen randomly and might also be caused by having a very
large cache file in the preference folder combined with less free disk space
and doing some actions in Bridge to fast whilst previous job is still
caching in the background. But that is purely a personal thought without
    scientific proof I'm afraid...
However it is indeed cache related and purging cache is the solution. But
luckily there are other ways then purging the entire cache in one go. First
you can try is hit the F5 key to refresh the window (menu view/refresh)
    Sometimes this helps.
Second is to select the files that have the small icon. Sometimes this is
enough to rebuild them but quicker is to select one or multiple files and
with right mouse click choose 'purge cache for selection' from the menu. The
bigger the files the longer it takes to build the cache but with only a few
selected it is only a few seconds to a minute for it rebuilds itself.
And while having a coffee break you can choose from the menu
Tools/cache/purge cache for folder and let the folder recache. Depending on
the amount of content it surely will be done before you have emptied half of
of your coffee cup (that is also depending on size and content of coffee cup
    and your thirst...)

  • Bridge, no thumbnails

Just started to work with cs5 in win7, saved altered image to Bridge, why is there no thumbnail only file number ?

When you open View what do you have selected as an option?
Do all your images have no thumbnails?
If it is just the altered one check the file name carefully?  For example xxxx.jpeg.jpeg would be an error.

  • Bridge CS6 thumbnails

Does Bridge CS6 have to rebuild the thumbnails in a smart collection every time its opened? (Mac 10.8.5)

  • CS3 bridge: Tiff thumbnails overexposed...Why?

I'm working on a PC and I just upgraded to CS3 from CS2. In Bridge, when I save my files from RAW to Tiff, the Tiff thumbnails are all overexposed. All the Raw thumbnails are properly exposed according to the settings in Camera Raw. When I first save the tiff file, the thumbnail has the correct exposure settings, but then instantly changes to an overexposed setting. This happens to all the Tiff thumbnails and also to the large preview image, but not to the RAW thumbnails or preview images. When I open the Tiff file, the settings are correct.
I have a feeling it has something to do with the thumbnail preview settings in "preferences". Can someone help me please? I'm sure it's something simple.
    Thanks...

That option that you changed is not one for viewing JPEG and TIFF images in ACR, but for editing them in ACR. I have it checked on my system, and I have all my thumbnails. Problem is that Bridge seems to behave differently on different computers. It seems to me that there are more problems with the PC than the Mac. I have an older PC that is slow by today's standards so I just kind of limp along with Bridge. Yes, you can use other browsers. I have used Faststone, but although it is faster, all of the features are not there. I surely hope Adobe comes up with a better solution. There certainly won't be one in CS3, but maybe it will be one of the motivating factors to get people to move to CS4. It's doubtful (in my opinion) that we will see an improvement in this version.

  • Bridge jpeg thumbnails and previews get RAW settings

On jpeg files without any RAW setting applied, Bridge still applies RAW settings to the thumbnails and the preview are thus display incorrectly. Opening the file shows the jpeg as it should be, without RAW settings applied.
I have RAW preferences set to apply auto settings to RAW files without any current settings.
I have my RAW settings to open jpegs in RAW *only* when they already have settings. If I set this to disable jpeg support, then the RAW settings are not automatically applied to jpegs without existing settings. aka, Bridge redoes the thumbnails without the auto setting.
While it is correct to apply this to RAW files without settings, jpeg files are already "developed/printed" and should not get additional auto develop settings automatically applied.
    My Bridge is 4.0.4.2
    Raw is 6.3

Thanks, I did, since it is affected by a RAW preference I figured a double post was acceptable.

  • Bridge CS3 Thumbnail filenames different from actual filenames

    This is really weird query.
When I drag a selection of files into Bridge a small number of the filenames randomly appear with different and very abbreviated names (1or 2 characters) in the horizontal filmstrip i.e. 1.jpg, 2.jpg, A.jpg, AB.jpg.
Sometimes the changed filename seems to reflect the original file i.e. Bloggs_Joe_1234.jpg appears as BJ.jpg. The metadata of the files remain unaltered.
When I drag the abbreviated filename unto my desktop and rename it, it opens in the normal way displaying the full filename when I doubleclick it.
It opens in PS Elements displaying the correct name. The obvious difference is that I am by-passing Bridge.
The files concerned have been shot on a variety of cameras and processed originally on a variety of PC & MAC versions of Photoshop. I am presently using Elements 6 for the Mac. I am using OSX Version 10.5.6.
Thanks, in anticipation, for any suggestions as to where the problem lies.
    Victor

Thank you for your unbelievably fast response. I am using Bridge CS3 which was supplied with Elements 6 for the Macintosh. I will also try the Photoshop Elements forum.

  • Bridge Folder Thumbnails Issue

If I open a folder that has multiple folders in it, some of them are the normal size thumbnails but they don't say what the name of the folder is beneath it. Others (in the same folder) have a little tiny folder icon, with what looks like a sort of button over it, with the folder name on it.
I tried purging the thumbnail cache but it repopulated with the same icons.
    Any ideas on fixing this??
    Thanks

Hi. Not sure if I'm understanding correctly, but try going to the View menu and looking to see if "show thumbnails only" is checked. When I check that choice, I get folders with "buttons" containing the filenames floating on top of the folder thumbnail. when you uncheck that, the buttons go away and you get back your folder info., keywords, etc.
