Bring window to front - appactivate does not help :(

I am coding with vbscript.
I have a need to make certain that sendkeys commands are sent to the proper program.
I can use this to activate a window:
success = WshShell.appactivate("MyProgram")
if success then WshShell.sendkeys "(% ) N"
But in Windows XP and 7 the window does not come to front. The program is activated, BUT left blinking on the taskbar below. And the key N is sent to any program that is currently open on top, for example windows explorer, which now minimizes.
How can i make sure that the command "(%) N" is sent to MyProgram? I have not been able to find a solution for this dilemma.

The developer replied the situation cannot be changed.
Is there other, a better way, i could send key commands to the program, instead of sendkeys?
The concensus here is 'No'. You cannot do what yo aretrying to do. The developer should be able to explain why. We have tried.
Window sprotect its programs well. It attempts to prevent rogue capture of teh mouse input while allowing for a certain amount of automation. SendKeys is rapdly coming into disuse due to changes to the way Windows forms are generated and managed.
If a developer wants to allow remote control then they will provide an automatin intreface that will allow you t ocommunicate with teh program.. Ideas like 'SendKeys' are a leftover from DOS basic and Windows 98 and earlier. Microsoft has made no attempt
to keep thi sworking in newer systems while it still supports most existing use of teh feature.
What you are trying to do is 'LEGACY'.
Perhaps if you reqord your question to ask how to accomplish some objective then we can point you at a solution. SendKeys is not that solution.

If you still have the problem after retoring the iPOd to factory defaults/new iPod then The iPod is likely defective and replacement is required. You can make an appoinment at the Genius Bar of an APple store or take it back to BestBuy if within warranty

[AIR] May I catch "bring window to front" event?

Hi,
I wonder who is responsible for bringing windows to front when user click on that window (application contains more Windows components inside). Is it operating system or AIR runtime? Or perhaps AIR runtime send event to operating system which does it? In this case there would be some chance to catch and stop propagation of that event not to let operating system bring that window to front. Am I right? Any idea how to do it?

I am having a problem accessing Hotmail email messages via Fireflox server. When I am in the Inbox, reviewing messages, it either freezes up or a "1 item" small icon window follows cursor and does not allow me to enter messages or do anything. Have to log off and start over. Suggestions>?

Can you detect any pattern to it, whether related to messages with attachments, or particular advertising on the page, etc.?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
(Usually the dialog will refer to live.com rather than hotmail.com, that's normal.)
Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?

The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.7 Lion is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Instead of restoring OS X in order to reinstall Safari, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Windows Vista and iTunes does not work

I have the new Windows Vista but iTunes does not work good.
And I have to use it, to manage my music on my iPod.
When there will be a Vista compatibles Version of iTunes??
And when will come an 64-Bit Version?

iTunes running under VISTA does not recognize media burned by iTunes Backup (v7.0.2) from a non-Vista machine.
The original machine recognizes the media just fine, but the new VISTA machine does not recognize the dvd at all.

If it is warranty, bring it back to the Genius bar and insist on a replacement. If out of warranty, you can get a replacement iPod with a new battery for $79 at the genius bar.

A pop-up window requiring a response does not close after being responded to.

A club membership database uses pop-up windows to request preferences for displaying information on the database. The window should close after the preference is saved. This closing occurs with Internet Explorer, but not with Firefox. The requested information cannot be retrieved unless the pop-up closes.

Force Quit .
Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time. Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select Safari, if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window. Wait.
Application will quit.
If this does not help, press the power button for 7 or more seconds.
Computer will shut down.
Restart.
Hold the shift key down and launch Safari.

Window 10 build 10041 does not work with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet on ASUS motherboard

I updated a computer I have which is a quad core i7 that I built and includes an ASUS motherboard with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet built in. Windows 10 preview 9926 worked fine with this network adapter. Window 10 build 10041 does not, and I have tried
it twice so far. I even went as far as buying a Thunderbolt-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (Broadcom, sold by Apple)... and while it installed the driver automatically, it did not work either. Each time you try to view the properties of either of them, it locks
up or give an error. In fact, doing much of anything with the Intel adapter icon assures you of not being able to do a clean reboot... have to kill power. I have finally gone back the previous version 9926, which has its issues but no where near as bad
as not having any network connectivity! Does anyone have this issue and a workaround?
Note, there are two images on the windows 10 preview forum that I posted this question on. I could not post the full link as I was getting a message here that links and graphics are not allowed.

Thanks Roger, I posted the following yesterday in the other thread (thinking it was this thread - confusing after they moved it here)... It may be that the new driver fixes the issue that 10041 has with it, but I have not tried that yet. If I do I will update

I have more information about this, which basically exonerates any issue with the Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet hardware or software. I have 3 computers with Windows 10 preview so I have multiple angles to see issues from. With this I have found a culprit
(but I suspect not just the only culprit) in this above mentioned problem...
10041 build combined with installing (or attempting to install) CISCO VPN Windows 7 64bit 5.0.07.0440-k9 client causes the issue mentioned above. I confirmed this on a completely different machine with a totally different Ethernet adapter. First machine
is an ASUS motherboard in a tower system I built, with the Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet hardware built in. Second machine is a Gateway Laptop from 2008 which has a Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit adapter built in. Build 10041 will work fine with my 2008
laptop, including the MS VPN client (which I have tested). However, if you attempt to install or even uninstall the Cisco client you will have to do a recovery to a restore point (as I have done twice) in order to get your network working again. Installing
or attempting to install (because it never even does install properly and times out), CISCO VPN client will render your entire network unusable. Going back to a restore point saved me and I am still running 10041 but I can't use CISCO VPN client any longer.
I could with build 9926, including on all 3 machines. I now have 9926 on two machines and 10041 on only the 2008 laptop.
Hopefully this above information helps someone resolve the issue. I will also mention, even though my network is working on the 2008 laptop, I still can't go into the Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and right mouse click on the Marvell
Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit adapter icon. I get an error when clicking on Properties menu popup : "An unexpected error has occurred". So something is still up with my network adapter driver or windows software, but it could be a side effect of all
that has happened with the Cisco software install attempts under 10041.
Another note: CISCO Anyconnect also has the issue.

TS1363 I have itunes in windows 8 but it does not recognise my ipod. Any tips on getting it to work and be able to Sync?

Error -69 suggests a possible problem with the source files on your computer. Check the source disk for errors and backup if you don't already do so. See HT1210: iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod for more details.
The SyncToy backup program is also a good way to identify exactly which files cannot be read. Repeated runs may succed in copying files which won't copy over on the first attempt.

It may also help to disable any AV software while syncing or set exclusions on the media folder and the iPod's drive.

Xfce broken completely and reinstall does not help...

Dear All,
I installed Xfce and it was working just fine until I got a strange error with unmounting a usb stick. After that the Xfce panel somehow disappeared after reboot. I don't remember exactly what I did, but now it is completely broken - I see only the "tips and tricks" window after login. No panel, no wallpaper - just nothing.
I removed xfce4 and xfce4-goodies completely and wiped all relevant config files, which I managed to find. Then I installed xfce again and it does not help!

Try deleting anything related to xfce in your home directory and start xfce again, also do not save the session, I have found that saving the session can cause problems like this.

I ended up having them call me then was able to give them 1 of my secret questions right and they reset things so I could reset all my secret questions.
Try going into contact support and see if you can schedule a call. There seems to be some issues with peoples' id's and this update. iTunes thought that I'd never bought anything from my computer or device before, and I clearly had, so it's like it got confused. THen I tried to get my questions reset, but the mail never came, which is why I just got a phone call because I felt it was 'real person' time.

I have a second hand HP Scanjet 3770 scanner.
After downloading and installing driver there is only 1 icon on my desktop - Image Zone.
There is not icon of HP Director software, neither on desktop nor in C:\Program files\HP folder

Some things that pop in my head- your CD/DVD drive may need cleaning (laser eye). There are discs to do this or you can use a cotton swab sometimes to wipe the laser. OR- the last recovery may have been the last fatal strain on the CD/DVD drive and it is now not functioning. Maybe you could borrow the drive from the other Dv4 and try it- or borrow/buy a USB CD/DVD drive to try.
