Broadcast a live musical performance through Apple TV through my home theatre system

I have small concerts in my living room regularly involving a piano, voice and wind instruments.  I'd like to use Apple TV to pipe this live music to other rooms in my house.  Is there a way to broadcast a microphobe wirelessly to my Mac and then through to my home entertainment system?

Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil app maybe?
If your Mac is Airplay Mirroring capable you might be able to send audio via that.
Is it a MAcBook Pro or Mac Pro (desktop)?

  • How can I play my ITunes music stored on my IMac via Apple TV through my home theatre system and control it from my IMac?

My ITunes library is stored on my IMac which is connected to B&W desktop speakers. My music system is connected to my IMac via USB through a Benchmark DAC. I use Pure Music software and am able to simultaneously play music on my IMac in my study and my main music system in the living room.
My home theatre system is connected by Apple TV via the home network to the IMac. I can access my ITunes library from the TV using the Apple TV remote control. But when I try to play music from the computer and stream to the TV / home theatre, I am unable to make the connection. I tried activating Airplay, but I still cannot get the music to play.
I would appreciate any advice on how to set this up.

Thanks for the suggestion. I subsequently realized that my Airplay settings on ITunes are ok. The problem is with the settings on Pure Music. I still havent figured this out. When i stream using just ITunes, it works fine, but when I play music using ITunes / Pure Magic, I still have an issue with Apple TV.

  • HT4437 Airplay not working through my home theatre system

The Airplay icon has been enabled to choose my Airport Express but there is no playback.

Not sure if this will resolve your problem but I had same problem. The airplay button would not show up on my iOS devices particularly my iPhone and I noticed the remote app was not working correctly also. For airplay and the remote app it wax a hit or miss the later being the most. The thing was my remote app usually never acted up before but than in remembered that I recently changed my router from an Apple Express to an Extreme. I had my Express set up in manual mode and I selected channel 11 manually. But when I set up the Airport Extreme I left the router in the default mode of "automatic". Upon changing the Extreme back to manual and selecting my own channel, everything has been great! So if most of you are like me and live in an Apple ecosystem and have Apple routers you may want to make sure the router is not set in automatic. I believe this to be what is causing problems.

  • Macbook pro for live music performance / power fluxuations

    hello,
I am looking at buying a MBP for doing live music performance and djing.
Here's my question: I often play downtown, where the power is flaky at best - I know that if I unplugged the MBP, power fluxuations would be irrelevant. But what if it is plugged in? Would I still need a quality voltage regulator to smooth out the voltage fluxuations? The RME audio interface is very picky when it comes to power.
    Thanks,

    Hello
I would get a good power conditioner and that should fix your issues with power.

  • Apple TV won't connect properly to Sony home theatre system using hdmi cable.

Using an HDMI cable to the port on the home theatre system I can get sound, but the picture is intermittent. It Comes on for 1second, goes of for 10 seconds.
If I connect directly to the TV using the HDMI to DVI-D cable it works, but because I am using a Fujitsu plasmavision it is a monitor only with no speakers.
Would really like to get this to work and don't understand why the video signal is intermittent from the blueray player. Other inputs into the player through the HDMI port work OK (such as a set top box).

Just installed my Vizio SoundBar with my new LG TV & Apple TV 2... The trick to get the Apple TV 2 to send audio to the Soundbar is on the Apple TV Menu under audio change it to 16 bit. Boom it works.

  • Sony HTSS360 home theatre system & Apple TV issue

I picked up this system yesterday and connected the Apple TV via hdmi but got no audio or video. Does it matter what brand of hdmi cable? Are there cables that are copyright compliant and some that aren't? Is this the issue or something else?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Does your home theatre system have an HDMI or optical input.

  • Recording live music/sound through iPod.

I know that there's a microphone to record voice for iPod, but could you also record live music through an output on an audio board with the use of the audio cord adapter?

as far as i know no one has come out with a mic adapter for the 5G iPod yet. so until someone does it is not possible.

  • Connecting Apple TV to Philips home theatre "Digital In" port

I'd like to be able to connect my Apple TV to my Philips LX3950W Home Theatre for better audio quality. The Philis user manual mentions a "Digital In" port (http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/l/lx3950w_01/lx3950w_01_dfu_eng.pdf). Can this be used with the "Optical Audio" cable from my ATV, and if so, what type of cable/adaptor do I need?

Thanks Winston. I can't check it right now but have found a different Specs sheet (http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/l/lx3950w_01/lx3950w_01_pss_aen.pdf) which calls it a "Digital coaxial in" connection. Is there an adaptor available or am I stuck with my TV audio?

  • MUSIC: Using MacBook Pro in live music performance

My band performs with guitars and loops. We'd like to integrate recorded and produced loops and songs into our performance. We'd also like to record live and playback the recordings. I imagine the MacBook Pro would be placed just upstream of the PA mixer.
What's the best software and hardware to do this?

Garage Band which is already preinstalled should work. Try their forum area for confirmation - http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=127
QuickTime Pro which you can use to record. Not sure if the free version has a record option. Also, not sure if Garage Band has a recording feature as I've never used it.
For all other software try researching on Macupdate and Cnet Mac Downloads.
    Hardware - Google search.

  • What is the best way to plug my iPhone 5 into a mixer for live music performances?

I'm thinking of performing live with my iPhone 5 or maybe an iPad that I haven't bought yet. What is the best way to get the sound for the device to a mixer or PA? I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with wireless options. I'm wondering if it is stable enough for live performance. There doesn't seem to be any audio interface options yet.

there is always the 3.5mm minijack out connector sure it's analogue but a cable with male minijack in 1 and and 2 rca in the other would work with most mixers and or pa's

  • I am trying to play my digital music off a hard drive onto my home stereo.  I would like to know if the mac mini can just hook to my processor and play music through the processor(preamp) on my home stereo speakers?

I currently have a nice home stereo component system.  I also have a 500 GB external hard drive loaded with music.  I am looking for a way to play the music off this Hard Drive onto my home stereo system.  I currently have a WD home entertainment box that I can play movies that I download off the Internet on my TV, of course piped through my home stereo for the sound.  I would like to know if the mac-mini could be used in this form also.  Just have the HD hooked to it, the TV would become my monitor and the mac mini would play the music ... RANDOMLY ... with the use of iTunes.  This of course would be hooked up to the home system with an hdmi cable and the HD hooked up through a USB connection.
Just would like to know if this could work?

    Yes. Is the short answer.
You can directly connect the speaker out port of the Mac mini to an input on the AV Receiver which then feeds your speakers. This would be an audio only solution. If you use a TOS-Link connection this will be a pure digital connection ensuring the best quality (important for audiophiles).
You can if you wish connect the video from the Mac mini to the AV Receiver, and if you have a Mac mini with HDMI or a Mini Displayport you can run the audio and video via a single cable. (Older models would use two cables, the aforementioned TOS-Link pus a DVI to HDMI cable.)
If you do connect the video output from the Mac to the AV Receiver you can then display this on your TV, and have as one possibility iTunes displayed with perhaps one of the iTunes visualisers playing along with the music. Another possibility would be to use FrontRow on the Mac.
A different approach would be to have the Mac mini stream over a network to a device e.g. the Sonos Zoneplayer which is then connected to the AV Receiver. An AirPort Express is also able to do this.

  • Creating an iTunes / Apple TV based home theatre

I have been searching everywhere for some documentation on how to set up/design a home theatre system with itunes and apple tv but can find nothing on the subject anywhere.
I have a 900GB itunes library, filled with music, tv, movies and podcasts, so as you can imagine it is jolly painful to move around, and stupidly painful to work with.
I want to know about location of the library, should I have more than one, syncing vs streaming, having multiple apple tv's, configuring them so that they are the same. Impacts of having multiple accounts in the one library etc.
I want best practises and most of all I want choices.
And I want it all in one place. I don't want to have to trawl through thousands and thousands of forums for hours just to find the answers.
Am I alone? Is there documentation out there? Or is it going to be expensive trial and error?

  • Can I connect my iMac's iTunes library via wi-fi to my Blu-Ray player so I can listen to the music on my computer with my home theater system?

My music library is on my iMac, located in a different room of the house than my home theater system with a decent Denon receiver and good Infinity towers. I have an iPod connector to the Denon which I can use, but the iPod has a limited library of songs, so I would like to somehow access my iMac music library and be able to play it through the home theater system. Hard wiring the components is out of the question due to length of run through several rooms of the house, no basement and cathedral ceilings. I already have my iMac and my Panasonic Blu-Ray player both connected to my wi-fi, and it seems there should be a way to connect both of them using the wi-fi. The blu-ray player is DLNA, but the Mac isn't, so that is out of the question. Is there any other way to get these components to talk to each other over wi-fi?

There is a DLNA media server called MediaLink that is designed for use with the Play Station 3.  It is not advertised as working with other DLNA clients but it usually will.  I use it to stream audio, video and pictures to a WDTV media player in my bedroom.  Works great, even supports iTunes playlists.  I believe it still has a free trial period so you can see if it works with your player.

  • Have to restart Apple TV to get Home Sharing to work, iTunes 12, Yosemite

I am running Yosemite 10.10.2 and the latest Apple TV software 7.0.3 and using the latest build up iTunes 12.
Nearly every time I sit down at the Apple TV to connect to my iMac through the home sharing system that is accessed when you click "Computer" on the Apple TV, I am unable to load video content. The videos just load (spin) forever. My Apple TV has a wired connection to a Apple Router being used as a Ethernet hub. Everything has a wired connection, but Home sharing only works intermittently. The sure fire fix is restarting the Apple TV which will restore connectivity. I have had this exact same set up for a while but have only recently experienced this issue after upgrading to Yosemite and iTunes 12.
I have tried changing the name of he iMac which restored connectivity after Yosemite was loaded initially, but I am still unable to figure out why I have to restart my Apple TV every time to get home sharing to work.

On the ATV go to settings and test your network. You must choose the proper network speed you have, its mostly a guess so you'll need to try again if needed. Once done then sign out of home share on the ATV and on the Mac then sign back in and finish by restarting the ATV. This was my sequence of events to get home sharing to work. Airplay is a good backup though.
