Broken power button for a BlackBerry Z30 bought on amazon.co.uk

Hello BlackBerry community,
I use a BlackBerry Z30 which I bought from amazon.co.uk. I am super-excited with the device, in terms of usability, performance and battery lifetime.
Unfortunately the device fell of the table and the power button was broken.
Any idea where can I buy a spare part - power button? Unfortunately amazon.co.uk does not have it available.
With many thanks,
Dimitris

• HP Pavilion dv6-1360us Entertainment PC power button broken, power button board removed for use.

After working on my wife's laptop for the last week and not being able to find "the" solution online, let alone a pic of the power button board. I thought I'd try to share my shortcut with anyone that can benefit from it and hopefully avoid unnecessary repairs and costs. Of course we don't want even more money going to HP for no reason.

The problem:
My wife was messing with our dog and a little pop splashed on and under the left front of the laptop. This was near the power button and underneath near the ram cover and vents. We unplugged the laptop and removed the battery as soon as I'd learned what happened. We dried it as best we could and after awhile started it back up. It started for shorter and shorter periods of time until it wouldn't start at all. I spent the next couple days trying all the forum solutions like holding the power button down, removing and inserting the battery and power supply ...blah, blah , blah. Eventually I came across somebody talking about the power button board. At this point the laptop with the battery only did nothing and had no lights, noise ...nothing. If the power supply was plugged in we had a light next to the plug and a front left panel light on. If the battery was removed and it was only the power supply we had only the light next to the power supply input. Everything i found said it was the motherboard or GPU. I feared the worst lol. I took it part for the 4th time and looked at the power button board and noticed the side of the power button itself had cracked all the way through. I decided i would try and start it without the power button board or cable connected instead of the shorting out process blogs were talking about.

The solution:
I removed the DVD drive, hard drive, ram, keyboard, bezel and hard drive then 1 by 1 added the DVD drive, ram, hard drive ...etc. and each time used the remote control to power on the laptop. It worked!!! Eventually I had everything back together with the power button board and cable completely removed and the laptop was up and running. I put some superglue on the cracked power button and plan to order a new power button board and cable along with a new bezel and power button if necessary but for now we've got everything working and all the important files she was working on at the time have been recovered. I did pull the hard drive the first day and put it in a portable USB shell and copy all the files to our backup drive. Anyway if the same kind of things are happening to yours at least you won't have to go thru everything i did. Good luck and i probably won't be back very often if at all to reply to any questions or to be told how i could've done it easier/more efficiently.

Power2dapeeps! lol

Hi,
Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
IDT Audio Driver - Windows 7.
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, restart the notebook again and check if the mute led now changes colour correctly.
Regards,
DP-K

• MacBook frozen with broken power button

i have a 2010 MacBook Pro that has a broken power button, which seems to be a common problem with this model. To turn it on, I have to open the case and short out two pins on the motherboard. Lately, my MacBook has been freezing on me, which leads to a solid black screen. I can move the mouse around but there is nothing to click on. Since my power button is broken, I cannot just hold it down to force a shutdown like usual and I do not have time to let the laptop's battery burn itself out all day so I can start it back up.
Is there anything I can do to turn my Mac off while it's still running? I have the back case open and the fans are going. I'm afraid to poke around in there while it's running.
Thanks.

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

• Broken power button

broken power button

I sent in my iphone5 for a repair/replacement unit on november 9, 2013, I was having an issue with the power button "doesn't work at all". It has no dents or any other issues aside from the POWER BUTTON. The good thing about apple is that the customer is always updated as to what exact stage of your iphone is at. After 20days, I received a text message: I went to apple to get the replacement iphone5. The POWER BUTTON issue is resolved but i noticed some other issue on the replacement unit. New ISSUES: Dents on the right side near the screen and it also has screen discoloration on the screen itself. It got worse! There might have been some other issue on the replacement unit if I had used it for a couple of hours. I am so disappointed about the service. I asked the manager to have it replaced but I need to wait for another 2 week to 1 month TAT turn around time. Apple would lose a lot of its loyal customers if they would not do anything about it for improvement of their service when it comes to replacing a defective unit.

• Iphone cant restore- Broken power button

Hi. My friend bought a factory unlocked iphone 3g from a friend here in norway which had a broken power button. he thought it would be ok without it until...
IT GOT BRICKED!!!
"Somehow" he bricked it and it doesnt want to turn on. i tried getting it into dfu mode/restore mode or whatever its called by holding down the home button while plugging it into itunes. it worked the first time but while it was downloading the new firmware, the cable got unplugged. we tried to get it to get recognised by itunes, but this time it didnt work. not sure where the original owner got it from, i think maybe from norway, but im not sure. can he repair it here in norway and how much would you expect the price to vary from (any currency ok)

no

• IPhone 2G restart loop/broken power button

My original iphone has a broken power button. Yesterday, out of nowhere, after taking calls, listen/watching podcasts, texting, etc, I get the restart loop. I waited until the battery died so maybe I could get it restored if I sync it to itunes. Didn't work. itunes didn't recognize it and it charged up to looping again. Any suggestions? Is this a brick for good? I preordered the 4S last week; jealousy maybe?

Usally they will just give you a a brand new iphone 4 assunming you are still in a apple care plan? But i dont think they will give you a iphone 5 even at cost.

• Broken power button on iMac G4

I am considering the purchase of this iMac. It has a broken power button. What are the implications of this? The present owner says that he just plugs it in and it starts up, and that besides he just leaves it on all the time anyway. How big of an issue is this? Can you advise me on how easy a power button might be to repair or if it is very necessary to repair it (assuming their is a workaround-keyboard startup?).
Thanks in advance!

Given the said iMacG4 model and year are not discussed, one possibility
may be to buy a third-party for Apple Macintosh keyboard with power key.
If nothing else is wrong with the computer, it may run awhile without trouble;
but access to the physical power key (on the logic board; may be hard to
buy the part by itself to replace it) is handy in troubleshooting or restarting
when something freezes up. Unplugging and re-plugging the iMacG4 to
make it go/make it stop is not recommended. Issues can result; I am
aware of a few problems in the G4 and earlier G3 iMacs and others, due
to the owner unplugging the machine instead of performing maintenance
or repairs in a timely and orderly fashion.
Since that machine is likely no longer covered under an AppleCare Plan,
you could either have someone else eventually replace the logic board
or other parts as you find them; or if you are technically minded and have
a good attention to detail with adequate work habits, fix it yourself. The
service manual, a download in PDF for techs, may still be available. It
was intended for trained personnel, and damages worse than the first
problem may result from improper procedures being done inside the iMac.
That said; good luck & happy computing!

How to restart iPhone 5 with broken power button and frozen home button?

hmm..just realised that waiting here for answer is like watching paint drying.. Thanks Apple!
So best option is..
1) backup your phone
2) log to iCloud
3) erese your phone
4) pug and restore your phone from backup
.. I'm clearly starting to dislike this company and seriously considering switching to someone else.

• My MacBook Pro 13in Mid-2010 won't start unless I hold the power button for about 10 seconds! Help Please!

Hello.
I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch (mid-2010):
Processor: 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
Running Mac OS X 10.7.2
Yesterday I opened my computer (was sleeping as usual) and the screen just flasehed white and the computer powered off. The magnetic electricity thingy was connected and was green, so it was fully charged, and connected to the electricity.
Since it powered off, I tried turning it on again, and again, one second after starting to boot up, screen flashed white and the computer powered off.
I read somewhere I should hold down the power button longer, so I did, and it booted up. That's why I am able to write this. But every time I turn it off or put it to sleep, it does the same thing when I boot up.
If I don't hold the power button for 10 seconds or so, the computer won't work.
Then today, I did a backup of my entie hard drive, just in case. Later, I started using Excel, and about 1 hour after I was on it, suddenly it got really slow. Like I would click on a program like Safari, and it would take over 30-45 secs to start and be ready. And my computer is usually really fast!
I went on the Internet again, started in safe mode, boot up with option+command+P+R to reset PRAM, and nothing worked. Then suddenly on one turn-off/turn-on (since I can't restart because the computer only starts if I hold the power button for 10 seconds), again it is working at normal speed.
What can this be? Any ideas?
I really appreciate your time and help in advance
Gaby

Are you running the Apple-supplied RAM? Have you run Apple Hardware Test? I don't know what else you've tried, but this may be time to do a fresh install of Lion if you have not done so since installing Lion.

You need to connect to iTunes and restore.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
You may need to put the device into recovery mode, this is covered in the link on this page.
Did you back up the device?

If you can't get it to shut down or restart when holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons and you can't get it recognized in iTunes to restore it, the iPod may have suffered a hardware failure and will need to go to Apple for service. Someone else here may have additional suggestions, though.
There is no "fifth generation" iPod touch, by the way, just for the sake of clarity; not yet, anyway.

• "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for seve..."

Hello,
I have recently been getting this same message "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the Restart button." whenever I start up my computer. It happens about 95% of the time. I have been reading on different forums that I should reset the PRam and the NVRam and I have been doing so and it does help as it does EVENTUALLY start up (sometimes takes me 5-10 min. to get it to start up).
I have also read that it may be the RAM that is loose, so I did check that and made sure that the ram is properly placed (which it is).
I don't know what else I can do. Should I reformat and reinstall Mac OS X?
Here is the exact error form the dump:
IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:87
AppleACPIPlatformExpert::start failed
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x55c095): "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"Macbook 2,1\".\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1504.9.26/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1389
Debugger called: <panic>

Well just got around to installing the new HDD and RAM yesterday, and I am sad to say... that the problem persists. :/
I reseated the memory and made sure they were in there properly, and I also installed the HDD and ran DiskUtility before I erased/reformatted and installed a fresh version of MacOSX Leopard, then updated to Snow Leopard.
As long as I am using my computer everything works fine, the problem occurs when the machine is shut off or put to sleep for a long period of time. Because when I shut it off and turn it right back on a few minutes later it works, or if I shut the lid and open it 10-20 min. later everything works fine, it's only when the machine is off or asleep for long periods of time.
So, I do not know what else can be wrong.
Should I try to take out the old RAM and just leave the new module in and see if that works out? See if that specific module is faulty?
