i see 5 or more times a day the following log entry
Broker dvai1mq01_svvai10_inst02 is unresponsive, attempting to takeover
We have a enhanced cluster with two brokers on the same server, same ip. i do not understand why one broker thinks the other is unresponsive. we have very low message traffic. the server has sufficient RAM and CPU. The cluster runs on a solaris 10 SPARC server. the ha store is an oracle 10 db.

A broker thinks the other is unreponsive because it didn't receive or see the other's heartbeat for a specified amount of time, which can be affected by the network (between the brokers and between the broker to the database) speed (bandwidth, latency,etc.), which can be fluctuate during the day, and the load on the database, etc.
You can adjust the following broker properties based on your network/database environment, please see Administration Guide on "Failure Detection Properties"

Rebuilding the thumbnails is okay to do and should not cause problems. (Although I've read several threads where the database broke after a rebuild attempt. I don't know why this happens.)
If your backup is current, from right before the upgrade, I think you should try to have iPhoto open it as your library. Is it a backup of the entire iPhoto Library folder, with all pieces inside intact? (Or did you only copy folders and files inside that folder?) A complete iPhoto Library folder should work. Here's how to do it.
Make a backup of your backup Library folder, just in case. Move the current, broken iPhoto Library folder (the whole thing) outside of your Pictures Folder. Rename it (iPhoto Library Broken). Move your original backup iPhoto Library folder into the Pictures folder. Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto. You will be asked to create a new library or choose one. Click choose, and navigate it to the backup library. If the backup is a version 5 library, iPhoto will probably tell you it needs to update it. Allow it to update. Hopefully nothing goes awry again. Perhaps you should disable your Mac's sleep mode before doing this, so it doesn't try to sleep or shut down during the library update.
Old Toad has a tip about a file inside the iPhoto Library folder called "Library6.iPhoto". This is only created by version 6 of iPhoto. If your update is successful this could help in future. Keep a current copy of this file, because in the event of a power disruption while iPhoto is writing to its database, this file can get corrupted and ruin the whole library. If you keep it backed up and the database gets damaged, you can replace the broken file with the backup and restore your library without having to start over again.
Let us know if your backup is able to update and function properly. If it doesn't work, you will need to elicit the help of Old Toad or Terence Devlin.

Q10 Won't turn on tried all the suggestions

Q10 started acting unresponsive, attempted to restore to original using the post here security settings.
3 hours later it still wasn't finished apparently...took battery out, reinstalled....now it won't turn on.
Plugged into wall charger, waited an hour removed batt (still pugged into wall) put it back....nothing.
repeat, repeat , repeat...nothing
Well once I got an orange light for a split sec.

Sierra Wireless EM7700 device experiences device code error 43 or not “USB device not recognized.” There are also times where there are two or more instances of the same device in Device Manager.
When the problem occurs, users are unable to see the mobile broadband device under Network connections menu (Charms menu->Settings->Network Connections). Installed drivers on system: Sierra Wireless QMI Lenovo Driver Package 2.6.1.209.0. Experienced this issue with the Lenovo pre-load image and corporate image. The problem has been reported by 10+ users/systems;

The problem is intermittent; it often occurs after waking the system up from sleep or starting the system from a cold boot. As a workaround, the user has to restart the system a couple to several times in order for the device to be recognized.
Wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this on the Helix 3701XXX Windows 8.1 Enterprise? Any advice is appreciated.

I get similar problems with the Ericsson C5621 wireless card.
To be honest, almost every 3G\4G internal card I've experienced (in Dell, Toshiba and now Lenovo) have suffered from the same two problems (when used against UK mobile providers):
i) issues resuming from sleep - typically the card not responding or not found until doing another sleep\resume or power cycle
ii) issues when moving quickly between cells (e.g. if using the device on a train etc.), when the card will stop transmitting traffic although claims to be connected, and then will become unresponsive attempted a disconnect and reconnect. Again power cycling the card (via sleep\resume, reboot, or occasionally disabling\renabling or uninstalling\reinstalling the driver) will resolve this.
Given that these cards are typically used in mobile devices where sleep\hibernate and being on the move are pretty common scenarios, it is frustrating that the 3G\4G hardware companies still can't get them to work reliable.

The client logging "Packet acknowledge failed" during reconnecting is expected if the broker hasn't completes the takeover - the client runtime will simply try reconnect again

Dataguard 11gR2 - Apply Patchset Max Availability

Hello All,
I would like to apply the April PSU to single instance with a 1 physical standby.
When I try to switch off the log transport I get the error ORA-16627.
My question is whether I need to temporarily change the protection mode to max performance for the primary while I shutdown and apply the patchset to the standby?
I am using the note : *How do you apply a Patchset,PSU or CPU in a Data Guard Physical Standby configuration [ID 278641.1]*

     operation disallowed since no standby databases would remain to support protection mode
Cause:      This status is returned in the following situations:
- The broker rejects an attempt to change the configuration's overall protection mode since it could not find any online, enabled standby databases that support the proposed protection mode.
- The broker rejects an attempt to enable the configuration if it determines there are no online, enabled standby databases that support the overall protection mode.
- The broker rejects an attempt to disable or remove a database that, if disabled or deleted, would result in no remaining standby databases that can support the configuration's overall protection mode.
- The broker rejects an attempt to set the configuration offline if doing so would violate the configuration's overall protection mode.
- The broker rejects an attempt to set a standby database offline if doing so would violate the configuration's overall protection mode.
- The broker rejects a switchover attempt if doing so would violate the configuration's overall protection mode.
- The broker returns this error during a health check.
Action:      - If changing the overall protection mode, confirm that at least one standby database satisfies the new protection mode.
- For enable failures, confirm that at least one standby database has a LogXptMode configuration property setting that supports the current overall protection mode.

I'm tending more toward my last suggestion. Esp if it's the white connector block with the open back.

I've got an adapter here that has the tip broken off. It seems that there is a center connector that has come off with it. It would seem that if the tip broke off and no attempt was made to plug in a new connector that center connector would be retrievable with a nice pair of tweezers (like a dissecting type). I've got a pair here and it would seem like they would have to be ground very thin to do the job. Perhaps with a slot to receive the pin. If one had tried to plug in another adapter plug that pin would be skewed or driven deep within the plug body.
Otherwise to take the power in board out to work with it you'll have to remove the battery, bottom case and bottom shield. (this is for the G4 14.1")It's held in with one screw.
While it's out make sure the solder connections to the board are good and not loose. This often happens with stress on the connector.

Somewhat odd problem networking TC

Hello - I have a Timecapsule which I am using to back up a variety of Maclaptops and desktops; it also serves as my router and wifi. A little while ago, I tried using my airport express to extend the network (I have a separate structure on my property which serves as an office). All **** broke loose after I attempted to use it (I was unable to get on my network, the DHCP assigned was wonky, etc, etc). I have since discarded this attempt with the Airport Express. HOWEVER, there is a weird residual effect - it does not see the Time Capsule by its correct name - for example, under time machine preferences, it tells me I am backing up my information to share 'Data' on volume 'Glenns-airport-express,' The time caspsule is named 1579TC1, and in fact is reported as such by my other device. A further hint is that when I attempt to mount the volume in Finder, I first get the message 'resolving alias,' which is then followed by a successful mount of the directory structure.
What gives? I suspect an explanation for this might also help explain some of my earlier weirdness (which is contained in a separate post).

Forgive my ignorance - I don't think I see any entries pertaining to the PC. There are a bunch of certificates that look like they are from the internet. Nothing else. I have always just connected to the PC as a guest without a password.

And offcourse that I delete my files and documents is not an Iweb problem, but because my English is not that good, that I thougt I try to tell the whole story, and hope people can read trough the lines.
Why I didn't use Iweb to upload to the server is because the server company recommanded to use file zilla. And I am a nobody with this kind of things, so I did exactly what they tell me to do.
No, i did not make a backup of Iweb and the domain file, but reading other messages on this forum showed me that I can maybe try to make empty the cashfile (?)
and otherwise I have bad luck and have to make my website again. Offcourse I have a lot of examples from all the pages (copied from the local map to my USB stick) and my website is aprox. 15 Mb, (not so big) so it will cost me a few nigths.
But I'm still hoping on a miracle :-)

Multiple podcast login windows cause iTunes to be unresponsive. How to prevent attempt of authentication from unsubsribed podcasts?

I have several podcasts that I have been storing following the subscription service. These podcasts in recent updates to iTunes have been attempting logging on (for what I assume) to check for updates to the podcasts. This occurs at initialization of iTunes and at periodic intervals while iTunes is running. When the login/password window appears, iTunes becomes unresponsive. Any media that is currently playing continues to play, but cannot be paused, fast forwarded, etc. After a period of time, iTunes becomes responsive, it can take 10+ minutes. At this time, I can cancel the login windows by hitting cancel the number of times I have individual password protected podcasts (that I do not have active usernames/passwords for).
I have opened the settings for each podcast and they are all "unsubscribed" and have set every setting that I can find so that the podcasts do not update, but I am still getting prompts to login causing iTunes to be unresponsive.
I do not want to delete the podcasts, because I still want to use the podcasts and associated podcast documents. Any suggestions on how to prevent the podcasts from attempting to authenticate?
Note that I have had these podcasts for >1yr as unsubscribed podcasts and have not had this issue until recent updates to iTunes. (Since 11.1 or 11.2.)

I've had a problem similar to yours since the iTunes update in January 2014. I have not subscribed to any paid podcasts...mine are all free, and I don't recall that any have needed a password. Since January, when I have iTunes open and click on Podcasts, I get a pop-up window that says "Authentication Required" needing username and password. I can try 5 times with entering username/password, then iTunes locks-up, and if I click cancel on the pop-up window, iTunes locks-up. I start Task Manager then alt/control/delete...that's the way I have to close out the iTunes window. Any updates since January has not fixed the problem. In about mid May, quite by surprise, I clicked on podcasts and it opened without the pop-up window showing and I was able to click on any of my podcasts. After another update, I was back to the same problem. The problem has to be with that update in January. If you run across a "fix" for the problem, please post, I'd really like to get my iTunes working again. I use Windows 7.

ESXi 6 fails/becomes unresponsive when attempting to create Datastore on OCZ SSD

I am trying to bring a Mac Mini 5,3 online with vSphere 6. The system originally came with two 500GB 7.2kRPM drives, and I swapped one with a brand new OCZ ARC100-25SAT3-480G SSD. I am booting from a SanDisk 64GB USB plugged into the back.
I brought the system online, added it to my vCenter, created a new datastore using the remaining 7200RPM drive, and all was well up to that point. As soon as I attempt to create a new datastore on the OCZ drive, the host becomes unresponsive to either vCenter or the old thick client. At the console I am still able to log in and look at the logs but that is about it, and it will even hang if I attempt a restart from the console so I have to manually power cycle it. If I leave it running, after a very long time (more than 10 minutes) the thick client will eventually throw the following useless error:
Call "HostDatastoreSystem.CreateVmfsDatastore" for object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi "octo" failed.
So I tried using partedUtil to remove partitions and do it again, with no change as soon as I tried to create the datastore (UI becomes unresponsive). Then I booted the machine using an external drive with OS X 10.10.3 on it and tried partitioning the drive MBR/FAT32, wrote and read a few files to make sure the drive actually seemed to work, and booted it back on on vSphere 6. When I attempted to create a Datastore again, I still got the same behavior.
After a reboot, this is what partedUtil reports for the disk:

Doesn't work, in fact ESXi seems to just hate this disk. Since my original post, I've tried a few more things.
First, I tried to use both partedUtil and disk to delete the partition on the drive. This does not work.

So I yanked the drive out, which is not trivial on a Mac Mini, and attached it to a windows box, then used diskpart to run the clean command on it. I stuck back in the Mac Mini and had the same freezing and uselessness. So I thought I'd try a different system. I have an older SuperMicro X8SIL system in the rack that was easy to pop the top off of and hot insert the drive after another round using clean with diskpart. After refreshing the storage controllers, the X8SIL machine saw it, so I told it to try to partition the device, and I got the exact same behavior. Since this machine has a disk activity light, I can see that the disk light is pegged on.

Attempting to Save Makes Keynote Unresponsive

I have a file, admittedly large (5.1G file).
When I try to save, it gives me an error (didn't write it down) saying something like 'Ketnote encountered an error saving the File. Please quit Keynote.'
Then, if I try to do anything with the app, even just select a pulldown menu, anything, the spinning beach-ball of death comes up, and Keynote hangs. I tried leaving it unattended for over a half hour, and it is still spinning away "unresponsive" and I have to force quit out of it. Subsequently, the file I have saved is then horribly corrupted, all the content on every page, except for the text, is gone on all 120 pages.
I have had Keynote 9 do this once before, on a file not very large at all. I frequently create large, media heavy files in Keynote and never once encountered a problem like this until Keynote 9.
I know one should save often, yet when the very act of saving often makes the application crash, it makes one fear saving the file. I end up doing a lot of work, and then saving new versions of the file in about 1 hour intervals. Every time I go to save, I hold my breath. I've lost several hours worth of work today. I'm not in a very good mood.
I am going to try deleting and reinstalling Keynote.

I'm chopping it into chapters.
I've found that the "Hyperlink" can link to another Keynote file.
So, I can go through a chapter and then click the link and it continues on to the next Keynote as if it were all part of the same file.
Now what I'm hoping to find out is if there is a way to activate a Hyperlink without having to click. In other words, can the page transition in some way activate a hyperlink. I run my Keynote using Apple's iPhone Keynote Remote Control App. So I'd like to be able to keep the flow of the slideshow without having to walk over to the computer to click on a link. If I could control the Hyperlink via the page transition, for all practical purposes it would behave just as if it were still all one file.

I'm using .NET and I only get this error when I create a console
application. With windows application everything goes fine.
I've tried reinstalling GW client, running fixmapi utility, installing
different versions of MAPI CDO, but still got this problem.
Any ideas?
