In any case, I notice two kinds of folders in
Aperture - brown and blue. (Yes, these are folders,
not projects or albums.) Clicking on a brown folder
that contains other containers doesn't display
anything in the browser or the viewer. But clicking
on a blue folder seems to behave the way I'd like - I
see the total of all images in lower level
containers.
Blue folders are above projects in the library hierarchy, brown ones below (or inside) projects. Blue folders serve to organize the library of projects as whole units according to your personal schema, brown folders serve to organize the internal structure of a projects, eg. in Albums or Books. Remember, only projects store your pictures, albums just keep a reference to pictures in projects, folders cannot contain pictures (at least OMM .
You create folders with the (context) menu command "New Folder": to create a blue folder, select the top level library icon to create a top level folder, or an existing blue folder to create another blue on inside. To create a brown folder, select the project inside which you want to create it.
HTH.

  • How to Preserve Transparency for Printing on Silver Vinyl (and Avoid Flattening Artifacts)

I have an Illustrator file that contains a number of icons that are "Placed" transparent Photoshop files (i.e. they were never flattened so there is no white background in any of these placed icon files). The Illustrator file is being printed by a commercial printer on silver vinyl and then cut on a cutting machine. Before giving the file to the printer I have been instructed to do the Object => Flatten Transparency operation to make sure that no artifacts are created during this process. (The file must be flattened because the cutting machine requires that this be done.) My problem is that when I do this a white rectangle artifact is created around each of the icons--and obviously this is not what I want to see when I am printing on silver vinyl! (I have read that one way to ensure that these artifacts are not created would be to select the layer containing all the icons, and then select the layer underneath it, so that the icons are flattened "onto" something. But in this case, there is no "layer beneath!") Does anyone know of a type of "fake" layer that I could put under the icons that would make the Flattening process work--but not impact the look of the silver vinyl? Does anyone have any other type of solution? (I am new to Illustrator and am basically desperate to get this problem solved!) Thank you very much in advance.

They are 720 dpi images being printed on the silver vinyl by a Roland XJ640 inkjet printer
Knowing now that the images in question are, in fact, full-color raster images, the first thing I would ask the printer is this: "Since you are printing onto silver vinyl, how are you going to "back up" the color images with areas of white so that the process color renders correctly?" The references I looked at suggest this is a six-head inkjet printer using 4-color process (CMYK). That would make it a "process plus 2 (spot color)" device.
The lists of compatible inks I saw included a metallic silver and an opaque white. So that suggests two ways this might be being printed:
Depending on the resulting area of "background" silver in the finished pieces, it could be practical for the project to actually be printed on white vinyl, not silver, and the silver "background" would actually be one of the printed inks. Typically, to accomplish that in a program like Illustrator, you would enclose your full-color raster images in a clipping path of the desired shape, draw a background shape behind the clipped raster images which will bleed beyond the eventual cut paths, and fill that background shape with a spot color Swatch which is named so as to be recognized by the software driving the device as its silver ink.
If the vinyl is, in fact, silver, then a white object needs to be printed first, and the CMYK inks printed on top of it. Typically, to accomplish that in a program like Illustrator, you would draw shapes surrounding your images in the desired shapes, and fill those shapes with a spot color Swatch which is named so as to be correctly recognized by the software driving the device. It is usually more convenient to position these objects in front of the CMYK images and set them to overprint. Or, if they are positioned behind the images, then the images themselves need to be set to overprint or the CMYK inks could be set to overprint in the Separations section of the Print dialog of whatever software is actually doing the printing.
The icons on the globe pattern are very small 1440 dpi placed Photoshop files....printing at 1440 dpi with bicubic interpolation...
This is a common misconception about printer resolution. Knowing that a given inkjet printer has a hardware resolution of 1440 dpi does not mean that maximum detail is going to be achieved if the full-color raster images are 1440 PPI.
1440 DPI is not the "extremely high resolution" it sounds like to some. To understand, consider normal commerical offset printing: A typical PostScript imagesetter has a hardware resolution of 3000 SPI (printer Spots Per Inch). And compared to the relatively "fuzzy" dots that are created by an inkjet device effectively "spraying" droplets of liquid ink on a sheet, the printer spots of an imagesetter are sharp-edged dots made by exposing a photo emulsion on film with a laser. And yet, designers wanting maximum fidelity and detail when printing full-color raster images do not go around creating their raster images at 3000 PPI, do they? Why not?
Here's the deal: Whether you are talking about inkjet composite printing or imagesetting, printing full-color images involves process color. "Process color" means you use little tiny dots of (usually) just four primary colors of inks to simulate all the colors in the image. In order for those little tiny dots to simulate other colors, they must do one of two things: They have to either vary in size (halftone screening), or they have to vary in number (stochastic screening) across a given area.
Common commercial offset printing employs the first method, halftone screening. Remember: the resolution of the imagesetter is 3000 SPI. In other words, that imagesetter just does one thing: It creates spots which measure 1/3000 inch. That's a fixed function of the mechanical hardware; the imagesetter cannot vary the size of the spots it creates. So how does it print the variable-size dots required by halftone screening? Here's how: Each of the variable-size halftone dots (the dots of ink that will actually be printed) are built up out of the much smaller printer spots.
This raises the question, how many printer spots are available to build up the shape of each halftone dot? That's where the halftone ruling (expressed in LPI; Lines Per Inch) comes in. And that's the value (halftone LPI) that you consider when determining best PPI for your images. The rule-of-thumb is one-to-two times the halftone ruling. For example, 175 LPI is considered above-average printing in offset lithography. It's one step above the most commonly used "magazine quality" of 150 LPI. So assuming a project being printed on quality coated stock at a halftone ruling of 175 LPI, appropriate raster image PPI would be 175-to-350. Using more is just needlessly wasting data that is going to effectively be "averaged away" anyway ("oversampling"). It can, in fact, degrade the printed results. Note that that's a far cry from 3000, the hardware resolution of the imaging device.
Composite inkjet printing nowadays commonly employs the second method, stochastic screening (also called FM screening, diffusion dither, etc.). Nowadays, 1440 is a common hardware resolution for even cheap desktop inkjet printers. Again, similar to the imagesetter described above, this means that the inkjet printer does just one thing: it bursts onto the substrate little fuzzy dots of ink which measure (roughly) 1/1440 inch. That's fixed; the inkjet printer cannot vary the size of the spots it creates. Note that this is actually less than one fourth the number of printer spots created by a typical imagesetter. So how does an inkjet render all the colors required to reasonably reproduce a full-color image? It prints fewer printer spots of each of its primary colors within a given area. And to avoid a discernable (and distracting) pattern, it distributes those printer spots in what looks like, to a human, a random pattern.
So once again, there is no 1:1 correspondence between each printer spot produced by an inkjet printer and each pixel in a full-color raster image. Trying to achieve that correspondence by making your image PPI equal to the SPI of the printer is just as silly in inkjet printing as it is in imagesetting. It's still just needlessly gross oversampling with absolutely no advantage.
In fact, one of the much-hoped-for promises of stochastic screening in the early days of desktop prepress was that it reduces the PPI needed for apparent sharpness in printed results. (In those days of low memory and slow processing, file size was of paramount concern.) That is, for "comparable detail and sharpness" stochastic screening required lower PPI.
What all this means is: You are not going to achieve any visible detail advantage by sampling your full-color raster images at 1440 PPI instead of at a much lower PPI. Ridiculously high PPI will not make a screened (halftone or stochastic) image include more detail when viewed under magnification. Increasing the PPI of your raster images to the moon does not overcome the rendering capability of the printing process itself.

How do I remove black spots on silver side of iPhone 5 and what is it?? Is it the silver rubbed off which I don't understand as I have been using a silicon case. Or is it due to trapped dirt within the silicon case somehow embedded now? I have tried to rub it off with a cloth and water but it doesn't work.

Hi no if you zoom in a bit on the photo you can see little black specks. I had to compress the photo as only a 2mb limit on here for files so it's quite hard to see. They are all along the side of it on the silver and at the top of the phone as well.

  • Please answer once and for all the boot green screen

I have searched everywhere for an answer since my issue.
    Relevant info:
    iPhone 3GS.
    iTunes version 10.7.0.21 (2012-09-12).
Doesn't matter what system I have since this is related to an iPhone device.
Fully charged battery before proceeding with the update.
Updated the iOS 5.1.1 of the iPhone to iOS 6.0 through required update recommendation of iTunes.
Never been abused, jailbroken, serviced or dropped. (never had issues until the update)
Once completed the updated process of iTunes and iPhone was done with the internal installation, the iPhone rebooted with a green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver". It loaded up to the iPhone Configure screen still with green color screen/hue.
I pressed on the power button for 5 seconds and slide "slide to power off" and the iPhone turned off. I waited about 15 seconds and pressed on the power button to turn the iPhone back on, hoping no more green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver" but returned to the original green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver".
    Failed!
It still showed green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver" and booted to the iPhone Configure screen still with green color screen/hue.
Remedies tried after searching the internet:
    Hard Restart/Reset.
DFU Mode. (even tried a restore process with iTunes again *so much time wasted to obtain the iOS download again*
Recovery Mode (even tried a restore process with iTunes again *so much time wasted to obtain the iOS download again*
Recovery from Backup is denied because previous version was iOS 5.1.1 and iTunes refuses the process so (even tried a restore process with iTunes again *so much time wasted to obtain the iOS download again*
Left the iPhone at the Configure screen until battery drained and then plugged it back into the USB port of system until it charged long enough for the iPhone to boot yet again green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver". It booted to the iPhone Configure screen which is still the green screen/hue and I left it charging until battery icon top right showed full.
Now, can someone give a straight answer while staying on this topic about this issue, please?
*I can understand if the apple logo was green then it could be a screen issue but it is not the case.
All help is greatly appreciated even if you took the time to read all of this but did not answer.
    Thank you!

  • Problem with Lightroom and Infrared Photography

This problem is specifically related to using LR & PS to process Infrared images. I apologize if this forum may not be the correct place to ask this question.  I am having problems processing Infrared Images when using LR & PS.  I take my IR images with a 530 IR conversion to a Canon G12 camera.  I learned early on Adobe products don't play well with IR images (they come in magenta when importing ) so I bring IR images shot withmy G12  into my computer with Canon Digital Photo Professional and then work in LR & PS from there.
If I then directly open this imported image from my hard drive into Photoshop and try and do adjustments such as blue sky adjustments with a red/blue channel swap, it works fine, just as I would expect.
(If you are not familiar with IR processing, I understand this introduction and question will not make sense)
But when using Lightroom, I sometimes have issues. I always import all my images into LR. Even with IR images, after using DPP to bring them to my computer, I import them into LR for cataloging purposes and to make other potential adjustments. Then my usual workflow is to move photos from LR to Photoshop via the "edit in" command. This opens a dialog box giving a choice of "edit a copy with LR adjustments" which is the default option and the one I always use, or "edit original".
Here's the interesting thing I finally discovered.
If I send the photo from LR to PS using the "edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments" option, I get a bad blue sky effect, where the sky is green and the foliage is pink instead of the sky being blue and the foliage yellow. But if I send it to PS using the "edit original" option, the blue sky effect works fine.
So there appears to be an issue when tring to send IR images from Lightroom to Photoshop. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

Thanks so much for working on this.
I fear the behavior you noticed was just due to the fact I cheanged the
file from 16 bit to 8 bit so the size was smaller and I could easily email
it.  When I open any of my regular 16 bit files, whether I send them to PS
as "edit original" or "edit copy with lightroom adjustments", they both end
up as 16 bit and as far as I can see, seem the same, though obviously they
    are not.
I don't really have a preset, but I'll walk you through the process.
    1. Choose Channel Mixer from the Adjustment Pannel
    2. Make sure the output channel is red, change the red channel slider from
100% to 0% and increase the blue channel slider from 0% to 100%.  You can
    type in the values.
    3. Change the output channel to blue.  Increase the red channel from 0% to
100% and the blue channel from 100% to 0%.
This is supposed to change the sky from brown to blue and the foliage from
blue to yellow and is what happens when you use the "edit original"
option.  When you use the "edit copy with lightroom adjustments", the sky
turns green and the foliage pink.  So you get 2 different behaviors,
depending on which option you use to bring the image from LR to PS.
That's my question, why do you get 2 different behaviors?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

  • Macbook Pro 13, i5 2011 awkwardly beeps and freezes.

I've had my Macbook Pro 13 inch i5 Sandy Bridge since it came out in March. I always noticed a bit of lag while having a few aps up.
When I'd make songs on garageband it would randomly turn silver and bring up a box saying something like "Hold Down the Power button" and you couldn't leave the screen. It would also shut down if I listened to itunes and worked on imovie.
When I upgraded to OSX Lion it got worse. I've been plaing Starcraft II on a Medium setting, now because I upgraded it will only run on a Low setting, and lags in late game. Like, seriously lags. You can't move or do ANYTHING. It's not only SC giving me issues, when I play Sims 3 and have Skype, Itunes, and Mail up it will freeze and shut the computer off.
Photoshop now refuses to open, so I ended up uninstalling it.
I can't use imovie at all.
My battery life isn't very good.
If I'm on the internet, listening to itunes, and chatting on skype I'll get a random freeze and the computer will beep once. Then do it again a few moments after.
I have an appointment with Apple tomorrow, I'm worried that they wont fix or replace the computer. I don't want to get stuck with this.
I mean, I played Starcraft II on a medium setting on my macbook air 2010. You'd think this thing could at least run it on high!

You could have a RAM issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2341?viewlocale=en_US
It sounds like you may also be getting the kernel panic screen, which could well be tied to your RAM issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3742
Since your Mac is new and under warranty, Apple is obligated to fix these problems for you. Your Mac is not operating properly for whatever reason, and as long as there is no user inflicted accidental damage, there is no reason why it should not be fully repaired under warranty.
    Good luck!

    Please can you help....
I ordered an iPhone 5s in early September from the orange shop in Chamonix Mont-Blanc France.
I needed a new phone as i dropped my iPhone and broke it so it thought i would upgrade.
I was asked in the shop if I wanted a black or white one, I asked for a Black one, as all my iPhones have all been Black as I DON'T LIKE White ones. (sorry)
I was told my phone would arrive in a week so I waited with broken phone for new one. The following week I was told it would be the following week, the following week i was told the same but the assistant in the shop told me they would ring me when it arrived. Three days later i recieved a text from the shop to say the phone would be in tomorrow, when I went in they said it had not arrived and they would call me when it was in the shop.
They called me on Thursday the 17th of October to say the phone was in the shop.
I arrived at the shop at 6:00pm after my work, the shop closes at 7:00pm. I recieved the phone, signed for it and extra unwanted insurance with I was told I could only canceled in a month. I was then told they didn't have any sim cards in the shop, i said no problem the Phone i assume will need charging so i will take it home and charge it and return for the sim tomorrow.
    So the Phone remained boxed.
When I returned home and opened the box I realised it was a white one, I replaced the lid put it back in the bag, and returned it to the shop first thing Friday 18th October, to point out the error, only to be told "to bad" ?? I was told I could have changed it the night before but not this morning? They said I had ordered a Black one but as I had signed for a White one nothing can be done. I was angry and left the shop. I returned later the same day with a French friend to try and resolve this problem, as I wasn't sure if something was being lost in translation. I didn't think I was being unreasonable, it is a very expensive piece of equipment and this wasn't what i wanted. They told my friend that the phone was not available in Black, that was the 5, and that the 5s was only available in silver and gold, and that mine was a silver one.
I then thought it was my mistake as it was a new phone. She put a sim in the phone put it in the box and I left for a business meeting only to arrive and see a Black iPhone 5s sitting on the table??
So I then returned back to the shop with the Black one and mine still all boxed and untouched to prove they had blatantly lied to me an hour ago, only to be told that there was nothing they were prepared to do.
Is this fair practice ? I am at a loss with this and am looking for help ?

A minor point, but it may avoid a little confusion if, instead of saying "black" in reference to the iPhone 5s, say "space gray":

  • Endless Issues and inconvenience while ordering a New iPhone

    05/22/2014
I had ordered a new Verizon Wireless iPhone 5c 16GB White with "1GB Unlimited Talk and Text Plan - $60 a month 2yr contract" on the internet. (Removed)
I had given the authorization for charging my credit card but it was not charged as they needed to perform a credit check.
On the following day, I provided with my passport copy and my social security copy.
    05/29/2014
For the next 7 days I did not get any communication from Verizon. So, I decided to check up with the Customer Care Department. And, found out that they have not processes the order yet as they needed a Visa copy as well. (I wonder why didn't anybody mailed/texted me regarding this all this time)
I asked the Customer Care, that since the order is not processed. I would like to change my order to iPhone 5s 16GB Silver. They agreed and said that we are attaching a note and this will be done.
I provided the Visa Copy and called the Customer Care again. They confirmed the receipt of my Visa copy. I asked them to confirm the order as I had requested for a change of device. They said "it says an iPhone 5s 16GB Silver".
Later in the evening, I got an email saying that your iPhone 5c 16GB White has been shipped (Whereas I was confirmed that it was changed to iPhone 5s 16GB Silver).
I was charged  $106.99 on my card account
    Order Number: 1298101
    Order Location: 1434901
    05/30/2014
On the following day, I called up the customer care again and asked them whether it was just the email or you have actually shipped an iPhone 5c. And, they said, an iPhone 5c has been shipped to you. Then I told them how I was confirmed that it was changed and I no longer wanted an iPhone 5c.
They said they understand and apologize. They asked me to refuse the shipment and have it sent back. And, call us again so that we can ship the correct one.
When the FedEx guy arrived, I did just that. I refused. And, called the customer care.
Now one needs to understand every time I am calling the customer care I have to explain the whole case again. (Can't you maintain notes from the last conversation tagged to an order?)
So, the real problem now starts. Customer care tells me that she can only restock and upgrade for which you will have to pay a restocking fee of $35 for now along with the iPhone 5s cost. But you can get it refunded later once you receive the phone (as a credit in your account). I clearly told her that please make sure that I get an iPhone 5s 16GB Silver. And, she confirmed. She said you will have to make a fresh payment for now.
I was charged $248.99  on my account
She also told me that once your returned shipment reaches us, we will refund your $106.99 to the same card.
After disconnecting, I realized that in the last 7 days, the iPhone 5s prices have been slashed by $100. So, the new order should still be of the lesser price ($106.99) but not 248.99
Then, I got an email saying that an order has been placed for an iPhone 5s 32 GB Silver (I had just now requested and confirmed that iPhone 5s 16GB Silver be shipped to me).
    Order Number: (Removed)
    Order Location: (Removed)
All this happened in less than 5 minutes. Now I called the Customer Care again. Explained my whole story to a new representative. She asked me to hold and hung up. I called up again, and explained the whole story once more. This call lasted over 45 minutes.
So, now I am told that my order has been cancelled. And, she has initiated a case to take care of this whole thing with getting refunds and getting the right order. I asked her to confirm that this will be taken care of and the 32GB iPhone 5s would not ship like the 16GB iPhone 5c did. I asked her to give her word. She said yes, the order is cancelled. Once the cancellation is complete, the money would flow back (as in a credit balance) and then they would create a fresh order. for iPhone 5s 16GB Silver.
I asked her how I would know, will I get any notifications. She said you will know when the new order will be places and shipped.
I am relieved. Later in the evening, when I return from work, I get a mail saying that your iPhone 5s 32GB Silver has been shipped (This order was supposedly cancelled)
I am sorry to say that Verizon's Customer Care staff is ill informed about their own system and make incorrect statements based on their know-how of the system.
    Cutting the crap short:
    1. I ordered iPhone 5c 16 GB White. I changed it to iPhone 5s 16 GB Silver before the order was processed. Paid $106.99.
    2. I still received an iPhone 5c 16GB White. I returned the parcel with FedEx (Declined).
    3. I called up to cancel what has been delivered and order iPhone 5s 16 GB Silver (New price is slashed by $100).
    4. Paid $248.99 (including a $35 Restocking Fee to be refunded later) and got a mail saying that iPhone 5s 32GB Silver (and not 16GB) has been ordered.
    5. I immediately called up to cancel once again. Was assured that the order has been cancelled. And, I will get the new order with iPhone 5s 16GB Silver and due refunds.
    6. I get a mail that iPhone 5s 32 GB Silver has been shipped. (I have been asking for an iPhone 5s 16GB Silver)
    Now, I have paid $106.99 + $248.99 = $355.98. I still do not have a phone. And, I know a model (iPhone 5s 32GB) that I NEVER ordered is on the way.
Can someone take this up seriously? Refund me $248.99 and make sure I get an iPhone 5s 16GB Silver?
I have been through enough trauma explaining my case to at least 12 different customer care and order department representatives. And, I am still far off from getting the product and service promised.
I have no energy and patience left to explain to customer care again and again. Please ensure that this is followed up properly.
You already have my mail id and contact number. Feel free to get in touch.
    Thanks,

I think I have very clearly mentioned. Stop being uselessly judgemental.
I ordered 5c on the internet. And, the order was not approved as I was yet provide documentation for credit check.
When I found that it is not yet processed, I asked the customer care if I can change the order as it is not yet complete And, they confirmed "yes, sure .. u can". Only, then I asked them to change it to 5s.
This is the only change I made. The order was then attached with a note that customer has requested for a 5s 16gb silver.
But when the order actually got processed, this note was overlooked and the original order shipped.
Now, I never asked for 5s 32gb. I was advised by Verizon to refuse the delivery and order a new phone by calling tele-sales. I did just that. It would be on records that during the call I said multiple times that I want to order (upgrade to) iPhone 5s 16gb silver.
But somehow, the sales rep. ordered a 32gb. I realized this only after I got a shipment tracking mail.
So, now I called again to cancel it.
I made only one change and that too after being advised that it is totally possible to change the order. As during the 7 day period I had realized that 5s prices have been slashed. For the whole week (22 to 29), my order was is suspension.
Had I cancelled the order by not providing the documents and ordered a new phone. There would not have been any glitch. But only because I asked to change the existing order, I invited trouble. As that change was never made as promised.

  • When checking mail. Signal, "E", time, and battery disappear?

Hey everyone I installed the most recent update on my iPhone but when I go and check my mail I can no longer see that little bar on the top where it would display the time, signal, and battery. It just turns grayish silver and the information that would normally appear doesn't. Anyone else having the same issues?

Yep, I'm experiencing the same issue and I've reported it to Apple via the iPhone Apple Feedback web site.

  • I have a new phone and when asked do iwant to start this as a new phone or do a back up from my last back up. i chose the last back up option and it has taken all my recent photos texts and call off and replaced them with ones frow about 18 months ago.

I have a new phone and when asked do i want to start this phone as a new phone or back up from last backup, i chose to back up from last back up and have had my recent photos texts and call replaced with ones from about 18 months ago. is there any way of undoing this?

A minor point, but it may avoid a little confusion if, instead of saying "black" in reference to the iPhone 5s, say "space gray":

  • My computer crashed and now it won't boot

I'm in a bit of a bind.  My scheduling won't allow me to go into an Apple store to get this diagnosed/fixed for an entire week; mainly due to Apple stores opening hours.  I'll be needing my computer (and I have no temp replacement) during that time to do extra work.
The computer was working fine until, suddenly, it decided to do a really awkward crash.  The entire screen was covered in brown vertical stripes and the audio was still working fine for another minute before completely hanging.  When I decided to reboot, the apple logo has glitchy stripes in it and then proceeds to be either a black screen or a white screen.  Then, after 5min, the fan starts to kick in like crazy.
I've tried resetting the PRAM, SMC, Safe Boot and Recovery Boot but nothing seems to make a difference.  I can't get past the black (or white) screen.
I know this isn't much to go on but I'd like to know anyone has any theories of what's going on and how I can go about to fixing this.  Thanks

It's plenty to go on. You have a serious hardware problem that only Apple or ARC can fix. So you have 2 options.
    1) Make, take, the time to get it fixed ASAP.
    2) Buy another computer.

    Community synopsis
From Dan Harmon ("The Sarah Silverman Program") and Emmy Award winners Joe and Anthony Russo ("Arrested Development") comes "Community," a smart comedy series about a band of misfits who attend Greendale Community College. At the center of the group is Jeff Winger (Joel McHale, "The Soup"), a fast-talking lawyer whose degree has been revoked. With some help from his fellow classmates, Winger forms a study group that eventually learns more about themselves than their course work.
Also among the series stars who comprise the group are comedy legend Chevy Chase ("Chuck") as Pierce, a man whose life experience has brought him infinite wisdom; Gillian Jacobs ("The Book of Daniel") as Britta, the 20-something dropout with something to prove; Yvette Nicole Brown ("Rules of Engagement") as Shirley, a sassy middle-aged divorcée; Danny Pudi ("Greek") as Abed, a pop culture junkie; Alison Brie ("Mad Men") as Annie, a high-strung perfectionist; Donald Glover ("30 Rock") as Troy, a former high school football star trying to find his way, and Ken Jeong ("The Hangover") as Señor Chang.
    YVETTE NICOLE BROWN
One word best describes the unfolding of
Yvette Nicole Brown's career, and it is:
    serendipity (noun)
    1. an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.
    2. good fortune; luck; blessing.
Yvette landed her first television role - - a two-episode gig playing Toni Childs' sister, Sherri, on GIRLFRIENDS - - by chance. Casting director Robi Reed called her in to audition from a post card submission. Yvette had no credits and no agent. That stroke of serendipity at the beginning of her career, taught Yvette that you never know how God is going to move in your life and career. Booking a series regular role two months later, on the first pilot she auditioned for further proved the point. That show, ABC's THE BIG HOUSE, only lasted a few episodes; but that experience proved to be a blessing as well. Through it, Yvette learned the transient nature of the business and to always "travel light".
Yvette has since appeared (and often recurred) on shows as varied as ENTOURAGE, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, THE OFFICE, THAT'S SO RAVEN, HALF & HALF, SLEEPER CELL, HOUSE, TWO AND A HALF MEN, THAT 70'S SHOW and BOSTON LEGAL - - where she got to perform "Big, Blonde & Beautiful" from Hairspray. It was a bit of a homecoming because Yvette is no stranger to singing. She was managed by Michael Bivins (of New Edition and BBD) and signed to Motown Records when she was just a teen.
Younger viewers may know Yvette from her recurring role on Nickelodeon's "DRAKE & JOSH," where she played movie theater manager, Helen Ophelia Dubois.  Landing that role was another serendipitous experience. The role of Helen was to be a one-time role; one that Yvette auditioned for while on hiatus from THE BIG HOUSE. That one-time role turned into four years of employment and introduced Yvette and her silliness to the best group of fans in the world...kids!  The cast of DRAKE & JOSH recently reunited in 2008 for the holiday movie, "Merry Christmas: Drake & Josh," a film that broke Nickelodeon viewership records when it was seen by over 8 million viewers the night it debuted. It has since gone on to become an annual holiday favorite.
Yvette is also the voice of the tough, sassy and smart Cookie on The HUB’s “Pound Puppies” which begins its second season in June, 2012.  The “Pound Puppies” are a team of fearless dogs whose sworn mission is to find homes for lonely puppies.  They only look like regular dogs.  In fact these pooches are dogs of action who match up pups with loving families while they keep the humans at Shelter 17 clueless.
Yvette has also had a successful career in commercials. She's appeared in over 40 national spots. You may have seen her in ads for BIG LOTS, PINE SOL, CITIBANK, FIBER ONE YOGURT, DAIRY QUEEN, HAMBURGER HELPER, ARROWHEAD WATER, HOME DEPOT, COMCAST, LG and DiGIORNO'S PIZZA to name a few.  Yvette has also been immortalized in puppet form as "Mrs. Lewis, from downstairs" in a series of NIKE spots alongside puppet versions of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
In addition to her commercial and television work, Yvette also has a burgeoning film career. She made her film debut in the romantic comedy, "Little Black Book," working alongside Brittany Murphy and Oscar winners, Holly Hunter and Kathy Bates. Her next film, Michael Bay's futuristic thriller, "The Island" put her on the set with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. Supporting roles in other films including "Dreamgirls" and "The Kid and I," - - where she first met and worked with one of her childhood heroes, Henry Winkler - - soon followed.  In 2008, she was in the box office hit, "Tropic Thunder" (directed by Ben Stiller) where she worked with Matthew McConaughey; as well as the family film, "Meet Dave" where she realized a childhood dream by sharing the screen with Eddie Murphy.
In 2009 and 2010, Yvette could be seen on the big screen again in the family film, "Hotel for Dogs" starring Emma Roberts and Don Cheadle, the romantic comedy, "The Ugly Truth" starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler, the indie hit, "(500) Days of Summer" starring Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt; as well as the action thriller, "Repo Men" where she played against type and shared the screen with Jude Law and Oscar winner, Forest Whitaker.
Currently, you can catch Yvette every week on the single-camera comedy, COMMUNITY, which airs Thursdays at 8pm/7c on NBC. The same Thursday 8pm timeslot that was once home to the hit NBC comedies: FRIENDS and THE COSBY SHOW...how's that for blessed?
In addition to her work on Community, Yvette can also be heard as the voice of "Cookie" on the NEW animated series, POUND PUPPIES; which airs weekly on the HUB Network (formerly Discovery Kids).
A proud native of East Cleveland Ohio, Yvette currently resides in Los Angeles California.

  • Minor modification to Dr Browns Image Processor Pro?

I came across Dr Browns fantastic script and I'm hoping there's a developer that might be able to help with a minor (?) revision to the code.
He has kindly released the source code on his website  http://www.russellbrown.com/images/tips_downloads/OpenSource.zip
I need it to do two main things:
Save 1. run a renaming convention on the original images and retain the file type/ extension
Save 2. resize the images for web (incorporating an action called up from PS to convert to RGB). No problems here.
I know I can do this in a two step process with bridge to rename and then use the script (or indeed a droplet) to resize for web, but I wish to keep this as a one step process.
Image Processor Pro does both of these fine except for one thing:
I need an option in Save 1. to save files in the format they already are - rather than forcing all files to save into a particular format.
I get hundreds of images from various companies (I work as a designer for an arts organistion) and they are all in a variety of formats and I want to maintain the highest possible quality file we are provided.
Basically I want the option of using the naming convention section of the script without the file save as file type bit.
This assue this could be done by either skipping the File Type/ Quality section altogether (but keeping the save to subfolder), or by including "keep current extension" into the file type drop down.
Things that would also be great:
    3. An option to delete/ replace originals in the process (as I will be deleting these anyway)
    4. The script can be made into a drag and drop application that calls up bridge/ PS?
Any assistance on this would be great.
PS- I have posted this over on the Photoshop discussion page as well, as that is where I came across the scipt in the first place.

    Thanks

Yup didn't realise you are on mac.
If you don't want to keep the originals with their original names (ie if you're just overwriting the originals) then why mot just batch rename in bridge first?  If you run an action or script then you'll have to wait whilst each file is opened and saved, whereas you run a batch rename and it's a file system task - virtually instantaneous.
Then just image processor, or a batch action from bridge (I'd create the latter because the. You can reuse it without needing to check settings or destinations over and over)

  • Macbook Silver display to vga doubler

I have a Macbook silver and I bought a SIIG VGA 2 port video splitter and I cannot get the signal to carry through. I have an old macbook the white one and that works fine. I want to use the new macbook with a QIT 300 tablet and a projector at the same time separately the macbook sends the signal to each one fine, but I can't seem to use it with this VGA 2 splitter. I have had no luck and Apple support has had no answers so far. Anybody come across this issue yet, or know of an answer? I would much appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Sorry, I'm still confused. You said, +"I have an old macbook the white one and that works fine."+
By this do you mean that you can simultaneously run the projector and the tablet with your white MB but with the silver MB it doesn't work?
