Browse Network Neighbourhood with Java
hi,
I need to list ip addresses on my local network (ie my Network neighbourhood on WinNT) using Java.
Is this at all possible? Any non-JNI solutions would be preferrable, but if JNI is the only way, that's ok too!

JCIFS does allow you to list the machines in the Network Neighbourhood.
SmbCrawler.java is an example provided which allows you to do this.
To view the whole network, the file you start traversing @ is a new SmbFile("smb://");
All NT/95/98/2k and Linux machines use this protocol.

URGENT: Rest web service with get method works fine in browser but not with java client(Android)

I have created one REST web service which accepts two parameters send back JSON results.
I tested the it in browser with URL as http://+Inteernal server+/ords/utimes/login_info?p1=+first_param+&p2=+second_para+
Web service URL : http://+Inteernal server+/ords/utimes/login_info?p1={p1}&p2={p2}
But when java team wants to access it from java code it gives error as "400- Bad Request".
one more IMP thing : when I test it in RESTful web service by using "set bind variable" , it only set value of first parameter.

On certain web sites(with java applets embedded or rich content),sometimes browser hotkeys are beeing used with other functionality (eg.: youtube uses ctrl + tab for sliding between player controls).How can I prevent this ?

Hi everybody. I responsed a new university finising project. I will create a new game that multiplayer on a server. I am in a simple level on java. I have no java networking or no jdbc info. I belive I can success but I have no idea about which map i should follow. I will wait for your suggestions.
(Or can I find a muliplayer game sample with java networking?)Maybe you could use RMI if you haven't got latency problems (that u will encounter certainly if you intend to use it with 56k modem).
It's quite flexible and in java 5 also more usable. -

If I have already configured the network connection, my java application can work through it. But if I don't configure the network connection, how can my java application connect the nwtwork automatically? For example, popup a dialup dialog.

Problems with java j2re using mozilla

i'm using j2re1.4.2_05 plugin for mozilla in linux (Fedora Core 2). My internet access goes throught a router (SMC Networks ISDN Barricade SMC7301TA). It's settings can be edited throught a web browser LAN connection. And here the problems begin. On routers settings page a java output console (for error and other messages) is running, which doesn't work, despite java applications on other web pages work well (I tested it on sun's java test page and it's working properly). Java console exits the following errorr message:

Is there a way to fix this problem? Cause without the command output it's mearly unpossible to configure the router.Yes i can make changes. Not everything is realised with java, just the output console, which reports if the changes i made succeded, prints out logs, gives additional info about some settings etc. So, i can make changes, but i have no response, for example: everytime i save something i don't know if the save was succesful. I can't take a look at IP routing table and DHCP configuration...
On windows xp, using internet explorer (the default version for xp) everything works perfect. But mozilla for windows has also problems with java. I know i can still change settings on wins, but right now i'm having some problems with networking on linux and i have to set things up in it (besides i use wins only because of school purposes). -

Sure, it's been in every newspaper and network TV news. Java browser plugins below v1.7.10.19 are vulnerable to exploitation and have been disabled by Apple, Firefox & Chrome. You either need to update your installation to Oracle's Java 7 update 11 or do without. -
Machines not appearing in network neighbourhood
Hi,
It has been observed that some Win7 / Win 8 machines stopped appearing in the Network Neighbourhood.
We are running Windows 2012 Domain Enviornment...
Browser service is running on the machine.
Machine is appearing in its own NB
There is no AV Client installed on the machine.
We can browse the machine by \\MachineName, it works.
Kindly help troubleshoot the issue...

1. What is your network environment, all in the same subnet? wired or wireless?
2. When are the some of the Windows 7/8 stopped appearing in the network Neighbourhood?
3. Make sure the NLA is not set to public(Network Location Awareness (NLA) and how it relates to Windows
Firewall Profiles)
4. Check if Network Discovery is enabled on the machines(Enable or disable network discovery).
5. Check if NetBios over TCP/IP is enabled;
6. Check this hotfix:

My company has just upgraded to 14.3.1 and there are several issues that are taking place with our systems. The main issue is with JAVA. it appears that 14.3.1 doen't operate with java 1.7.51. Is there a work around for this. Also 14.3.1 was suppose to fix the slow functioning when clicking on CC monitor. this doesn't seem to be fixed. We have a large network of endpoint and do a large volume of calls daily and this is becoming a very big issue. does anyone have the answers that may help. we have tried java 1.6 and 1.7 up to 1.7 . 45

Issue Downloading Resources with Java Web Start
I'm having an issue with Java Web Start downloading resources. After executing the JNLP file, the download will start and the main Jar will download, then the download will just stop. The downloader is still running, but the progress bar just sits and nothing happens. This only will happen on some machines, even ones on the same network. Others download fine, and the application starts correctly. I thought maybe a setting with java web start needed to be changed, but the proxy settings are set to the browser, which are the same for all machines. The JNLP file is below (however, for security reasons the codebase/homepage are left out, but they are correct in the actual file). Does anyone have any idea of what the problem might be?

Hi I am using an iphone 4 and its was working fine. Presently its giving browsing error. Whenever I am trying to browse internet by using safari or any other browser it retruns with an error message "server not responding" Even the same thing is happening with youtube also. The worst part is am able to check my mails, able to chat and so on... only thing not able to browse through the browser. I have tried restore option also. This is happening with both Wlan and Data con. too

If you are on your own #G network then:
Go to Settings > then enable "Airplane Mode". Count to 10 and then disable it.
Then wait patiently until you get a good connection and then try again.
If you are on a nearby Wi-Fi connection then:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then disable then enable after counting to 10. Make sure that you are connected and then try again.
If all else fails, then you need to contact your provider for assistance.

Java is no longer included in Mac OS X by default. If you want Java, you will have to install it.
However, note that you should think twice before installing Java for such a trivial need as looking at stock market quotes. There are other ways to get that information that don't involve Java, and using Java in your web browser is a HUGE security risk right now. Java has been vulnerable to attack almost constantly for the last year, and has become a very popular, frequently used method for getting malware installed via "drive-by downloads." Applet failed to load when visited using HTTPs protocol with Java 7
We have a java applet on our website which worked for ages. Then Java 7 came out, people installed it. When people with Java 7 visiting our website using HTTPS, the applet failed to load (ClassNotFoundException). The same site and the same applet, when visit using regular HTTP, it works fine.
People with previous version of Java (1.6.x) can see the applet using either HTTP or HTTPs with no problem.
Anything we can do on our side to resolve this problem for people with Java 7 and like to stay with HTTPS?

Cannot print on a USB printer with Java PrintService in Windows 2000. Why?
I want to print a simple ASCII file on a USB printer under Win2K and
found 2 problems. Here is the 2nd one.
Even though
PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(<DocFlavor>, <AttributeSet>)
returns nothing when I specify any AttributeSet, I can still print on the default printer, which I get by
PrintService defServicedefService = PrintServiceLookup.lookupDefaultPrintService();
but only on a parallel printer (HP Laserjet 4 Plus), either directly attached or over the network. When I try the very same code on a locally USB-attached printer, the printer is obviously reacting, but nothing is printed.
In case of a Lexmark 730 (an ink printer), the driver even lies, it has printed 100%,
on a Samsung CLP-510 (a color laser) the ready light flashes twice, that's all.
The file to be printed has 5 lines and a "0C"X at the end in order to force a page eject at the end.
I tried it with JDK 1.4.2 and with Java 6, same problem.
I should mention that I can print that little file out of the editor Textpad without any problem.Thanks a lot for the quick hint, but it did not help.
I used BasicPrint.java and PrintJobWatcher.java of the samples for testing.
Printing a GIF file works both to a parallel printer and a USB printer.
Then I changed only the DocFlavor from DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.GIF to DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE, and that one works with my parallel printer, but on the USB printer the Ready light flashes twice, that's all.
The ASCII file must have a "0C"X at the end to force a page eject on the parallel printer
Maybe it is a matter of the DocFlavor, but which one?
DocFlavor("application/octet-stream", "java.io.InputStream") works like DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE.
DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.TEXT_PLAIN_HOST and DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.TEXT_HTML_US_ASCII cause sun.print.PrintJobFlavorException, and with DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.TEXT_PLAIN_US_ASCII just nothing happens on either printer, not even an error message.
I am getting the impression that nobody of the developers ever cared for testing such a simple thing as a plain ASCII file under Windows.
My printers I am using for the tests are
1. an old parallel-attached HP Laserjet 4 Plus and
2. a borrowed USB-attached Samsung CLP-510 color laser
