I assume it is related to the fact that in DB02 in detail analysis for table edi40 I
see that there is no SAPDBA storage analysis performed:
    .  .         :  :00       SAPDBA Storage analysis
    Data from DBSTATTORA
No data from SAPDBA Storage analysis availible
How to perform SAPDBA storage analysis and is it something that is recommended to be performed on edi40 table (this is very big table 200GB and it has LONG ROW data type).

    Hi Andrija,
Brspace output makes me think the table EDI40 does not have any statistics in the database. You can doublecheck by querying directly on sqlplus:
    %sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
    %SQL> select last_analyzed from dba_tables where table_name='EDI40';
there should be a null result to that query.
About statistics creation I do recommend you to read SAP notes 588668 and 122718.
    Good luck.

  • Brspace -f tbreorg -t "*" -a cleanup command

    Hi All
we have  around 124GB for stuck #$ table after online reorg fail, can you please update me how safe is command brspace -f tbreorg -t "*" -a cleanup  command in running system?, and its impact on EDI40 table?
    Thanks
    Dinesh

    Hi Dinesh,
    > can you please update me how safe is command brspace -f tbreorg -t "*" -a cleanup  command in running system?, and its impact on EDI40 table?
It is safe and has no impact on the original table. The database objects with the suffix "#$" are related to the interim (table) object and it is cleaned up with PL/SQL procedure DBMS_REDEFINITION.ABORT_REDEF_TABLE (and following drop).

  • BRSPACE create new tablespace for compressed table

    Dear expert,
I'm plannng to create new tablespace  PSAPCOMP for compressed table by brspace.
the current total size of the tables that i want to compression is 1T.
Now i have  2 question about the brspace script
1.How big size should the PSAPCOMP be , let's say 500G?
    2. i'm confused about the datafile_dir value i should put (please refer to the attachment for current datafile_dir design)
Could you help to correct/improve the scritpts as following?
    scriptA : brspace -f tscreate -t PSAPCOMP -s 5120 -a yes -i 100 -m 15360 -f sapdata4 -l 2 --> assign to sapdata4
    repeat scriptB for 20 times
    scriptB : brspace -f tsextend -t PSAPCOMP -s 5120 -a yes -i 100 -m 15360 -f sapdata4 -l 2 -f1 4 -f2 4 -f3 4 -f4 4 -f5 4 --> extend 25G in one run
Qestion: is it OK to assign the PSAPCOMP only to "sapdata4"? or i should specify "-f sapdata1 sapdata2 sapdata3 sapdata4" so the table data can distribute among different sapdata_dir?
    Thank you!

    hi Kate,
some of the questions depend on the "customer" decision.
is it OK to assign the PSAPCOMP only to "sapdata4"?
how much space is available? what kind of storage do they have? is totally stripped or not? is there "free" space on the other filesystems?
1.How big size should the PSAPCOMP be , let's say 500G?
as I explained to you already, it is expected that applying all compressions you can save 1/2 of the space but you have to test this as it depends on the content of the tables and selectivity of the indexes. Use the oracle package to simulate the savings for the tables you are going to compress.
do you want the scripts interactive (option -c) or not?
The SAP Database Guide: Oracle has all possible options so you only have to check them
    brspace -f tscreate -t PSAPCOMP -s 5120 -a yes -i 100 -m 15360 -f sapdata4 -l 2 --> assign to sapdata4
if you want to create a 500 GB, why you limit the maximum size to 15360?

  • Partitioning a table with brspace

    Hello,
we are under SAP 46C and oracle 10.2.0.2.
we have a table that size over than 200GB, we would to go ahead with partitioning and archiving into a lot of parts.
    My question:
in the past we use a full oracle method with exchange partition. Actually we would use brspace, but i cannot find the command line to use to partitioned a new table.
Can you please help me on this issue?
    Thank you

    > As far as I know that it is not allowed partitioning on brspace. Instead you can check the note 1333328 - Partitioning Engine for Oracle
Well, it is in fact allowed, allthough it takes a small ride through some notes.
You should know what you are doing, but
    - Note 104047 (point 60.) allows partitioning (with minor restrictions)
    - Note 722188 describes partitioning in general and esp. the syntax required in the sql statements.
    - Note 646681 describes (point 5) how to stop brspace after createing the ddl.sql file to have the possibility to adjust as needed.
I applied hash partitioning on a a table once using this way (editing ddl.sql) with an online reorg using brspace and that was way back in version 9.
So I think it is still valid, but you should verify the procedure on a QA-system first and may be do a 4 eyes check on ddl.sql!

  • Brspace error

    I did a :
    brspace -f tbreorg -a reorg -i psapods2i -m offline -n psapods2d -s psapodsd -t "*"
    then a:
    brspace -f tbreorg -a reorg -i psapodsi -m offline -n psapodsd -s psapods2d -t "*"
Now dataloads are failing.  They are trying to create things in PSAPODS2I which does not exist any more.  When I created the DDL for one of the failing loads I get the following.  Notice the PSAPODS2I at the end?  Where is that stored?  I have looked ALL over SAP/Oracle..
    Oracle 10.2.0.2 on HP-UX Itanium 64
    BRSPACE is version 33.
    Thanks-
    Vince

Not sure if this can be done with brspace. (And I am too lazy now to scrutinize the documentation.)
Maybe someone else has a quick answer?
Are you on Oracle? (edit: silly question; this is Oracle forum!)
You could run an SQL script from operating system, with contents like this:
    alter index SAPC3T."ARFCSSTATE~05" rebuild online;
That's the way I am doing it sometimes.

  • Can BRSPACE online reorg 'SYS' 'SYSTEM' tables?

    Dear expert,
I would like to know can we reorg (in order to OLTP compression table)  the table under the schema 'SYS' or 'SYSTEM'
    Thank you
    kate

    Hi Kate,
BRTools does not allow you to reorganize system tablespace as stated in the here under note.
It might be possible to reorganize some tables depending on their usage, but it could be risky.
Why would you reorganize the system tablespace ?
Reorganization should only performed when important deletion took place to either reduce fragmentation or reclaim space.
Do you have such big segments in system tablespace that a compression could make sens ?

Of course, you CANNOT reorganize the SYSTEM tablespace by using the methods described in this note. From a logical point of view, you can "reorganize" the SYSTEM tablespace by recreating the database. Note 748434 describes how this action can be performed with BRSPACE.
748434 - New BRSPACE function "dbcreate" - recreate database
The new "Create new database"/"Recreate database" (call: brspace -f dbcreate) allows you to recreate the system tablespace. Logically, this results in the SYSTEM tablespace being "reorganized".
    541538 - FAQ: Reorganization
Table reorganization can be useful in
Move hot spots at disk level
Low table fill level: If blocks of tables are largely empty (archive, del.) => unnecessary number of blocks are read to Oracle buffer for a small amount of data.
Changing the storage parameters of blocks that were already allocated: If you want to change memory parameters such as INITRANS (Note 84348) or FREELIST_GROUPS (Note 619188), you can only do so within a reorganization process.
Moving segments to another tablespace (isolate a table in a specific TS)
    Reducing chained or migrated rows
Reducing extents =>  DMTS with a large number of extents -> avoid unforeseen ST enqueue problems (see Note 787533).
Converting from LONG columns to LOB columns
Change to table entries: In certain cases, it may make sense to rebuild a table with a particular sorting -> improve clustering factor of an index (Note 832343).

  • Will Rebuild Index (use brspace) also release hard disk space ?

    Dear all,
I use brspace to rebuild my SAP Oracle table weekly, I just want to know :
Other than index reubuild, will brspace also release hard disk space to me because I found some times, after having index reubild, my free hard disk space increases.
    Am I correct ?

    > I use brspace to rebuild my SAP Oracle table weekly, I just want to know :
Why the heck are you doing that? Too much time?
    > Other than index reubuild, will brspace also release hard disk space to me because I found some times, after having index reubild, my free hard disk space increases.
Whatever freed space on your harddisk, it had nothing to do with the Index rebuilds!
Once allocated Oracle won't ever release space in the filesystem unless you drop or resize datafiles.
    regards,
    Lars

  • BRSPACE to compress all the index

    Dear expert,
Currently , no table no index is compressed in our ECC.
So we want to first compress all the index then later will thinking about compress the TOP 20 tables.
i would like to run the following scripts
    brspace -u / -c force -f idrebuild -o sapsr3 -s PSAPSR3 -i allsel -c cind -ic ora_proc -p 4
But do you suggest i'd rather compress all the index by brspace table reorg?
Do you suggest i run the index compression directly on productive system ?
    Thank you!

    Hi Kate,
You can perform index compression online on Production provided you are performing it during low load period as it may impact performance.
Refer SAP note for more details on the options available with brtools to perform index compression
1464156 - Support for index compression in BRSPACE 7.20
    Alternate option is available.
You may perform table compression which will automatically rebuild all the indexes for that table. Refer SAP note
1907700 - Different approach to compress tables
    Hope this helps.

  • Error while scheduling VerifyDB in DB13

    Hi,
I am facing an error while scheduling VerifyDB through DB13 in my SAP ECC 6.0 system. This problem is occuring in the entire landscape(Dev, Quality & Prod) after i did an oracle upgrade from 10.1.0.4 to 10.2.0.2. The error is as below:
    BR1301W Error message from likeywlib:
    ===...could not load SSF library libsapsecu.so .
    BR1301W Error message from likeywlib: likey_init: Couldn't load SAPSECULIB ("libsapsecu.so") using function SsfSupInit (), rc = 10.
BR1302E Initialization of license key library likeywlib failed, return code 1
BR0602E No valid SAP license found - please contact SAP
I also checked the note 912969 which gives the below solution:
The error is corrected in BRSPACE 7.00 patch 10
But the BRSPACE is already on a higher patchset (18). Patch 10 is already applied.
Can somebody please guide me on this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Smitha

    Hi Andreas,
the error is exactly the same.
The database is Oracle 10.2.0.2 and the backup is performed with a mix of BRtools and Legato.
    Any idea?
    Thanks
    Gianluca
