BT Infinity & Steaming via WMC and Xbox

Hi,
This seems to be a fairly well known issue but since upgrading to BT Infinity and getting the new Home Hub I am having problems streaming content to my pc via Xbox and Windows Media Centre. I basically have to reset the modem and HH everytime I turn the xbox on. I have assigned the xbox the same IP via homehub settings but that hasn't helped. I've tried forwarding the ports but get a conflict error in homehub settings despite it being the only configuration. From reading other posts it seems a problem with the new infinity homehub.
Has anyone found a solution to this? I think I'll just buy a Netgear WNR3500....
Paul

FIGURED IT OUT!!!!
This has taken me 2 days and finally I can relax!!!
I could set up WMC on the Xbox streaming from my PC with an ethernet cable no problem at all. Until I turn the Xbox Off and try to use it again later on it would lose it's connection. The only way I could use it again without going through the pain staking time of setting it all up again or to swap Ethernet cables on the back of the router... That wasn't convienient......
I had tried all the things under the sun, port forwarding, turning firewalls off, wireless connection, wired connection.....
after trying again for another 2 hours this afternoon, I sat back and thought about it...
What is the Protocol Called to Stream Media?
I wrote this into google and this came up - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Streaming_Protocol
RTSP - Real Time Streaming Protocol
I then thought does The Hub Manager have this Protocol Under Application Settings, YES IT DOES!!
I applied it along with the Xbox Live Setting.....
I turned my router off for a minute, my xbox off and restarted my PC.....
The Anticipation that filled up in my body waiting to see if it worked was unbelivable!!!!
IT WORKED....... YES!!!!!
HANG ON A MINUTE! I Turned my XBOX OFF again and retried it, IT WORKED AGAIN HAS WORKED.....
Any Longer trying to figure this out might have made me return to Sky Broadband........
For A Guide to Add the settings to the Xbox Follow this: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091110130828AAOYFkK Once completed to it again with "RTSP" instead of "Xbox Live"
Hope this all works for you as it did for me as its sooooooo frustrating!!!!

  • BT Infinity, Home Hub 5 and Vonage VoIP not compat...

    Hi
I have just (last Wednesday) switched from Sky Broadband to BT Infinity. I have a HH5 to which I wirelessly connect a TP-Link W8968 in wireless router only mode.  I have all this set up and it all works, but I cannot get a dial tone from my Vonage VoIP phone line.
It did come online for about 12 hours on Friday evening but has dropped off again.  It was plugged into the TP-Link router.
I have now plugged it directly into the HH5 to try to get a signal.
I have spent 4 hours on the phone with Vonage who have now told me (4th different person to speak to) after countless 'unplug it' and 'reset it' that the only way a Vonage line can operate with the HH4 and the HH5 is for all BT parental controls from within mybt.com to be deleted.  I have now done this but must now wait 2 hours to plug the Vonage box back in.
But, I need the parental controls for the children's internet use and do not want to have to delete them.
Surely there is another way for the Vonage box to work with an HH5?  It worked perfectly through my TP-Link with Sky Broadband.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks in advance.
    Martin

Giving the VOIP device a static LAN IP address, outside of the DHCP range is best, as the home hubs will quite often issue different addresses via DHCP, and tend to ignore lease times. The fact that it worked for a while would suggest that maybe the LAN IP had changed.
This page should help with the settings.

  • BT Infinity loss of connection and problems connec...

I am writing on behalf of my parents who have BT Home Hub 2.0 Infinity. They have had the Infinity package for about 2 years and only recently started suffering problems with connections and dropouts.
my mums imac has trouble connecting via WIFI and sometimes have to restart the WIFI connection on the machine. also intermittently various ipads, iphones, laptops, macbooks try and connect and sometimes fail to do so
this doesnt happen all the time, but regular enough through the day to cause problems
there has always been an imac, laptop connected and 2 x ipads
more recently extra ipads, and macbooks have started to connect to whenever spouses are round the house
i dont think it is a problem with two many devices as at any one time we can have macbook pro, imac, laptop, 3ipads and 2iphones connected and never seem to have problems
and the disconnections occur sometimes when only the imac is trying to connect
would really appreciate any help with this, let me know if you need any more information
    thanks

This could be a problem with a neighbour having a new router or changing wifi channel to conflict with yours.  Install inSSIDer (base version free on PC) or iStumber (free on Mac) to check out what channels are in use and what the signal strenghts are.  I don't see why that should only effect the iMac: maybe its got slightly poorer wifi.

  • AirPort Express and xbox

    Hi all
I recently got an Airport Express for Christmas and want to connect it to both my home sterio and xbox. I have an existing wireless network at my home using a 3rd party wireless router.
I know that I can wirelessly send music to my home sterio (via the speaker jack), but I can't seem to get the xbox to discover the network (via the ethernet cable). Can I even do this?
    Please let me know, thanks.

i've tried both automatic, and i've tried manual setting by inputing the IP from both the airport information and the network settings, all with the same results. I know for a fact my internet provider doesn't use PPPoE so that's not the problem. Is there somewhere in the xbox360 settings where I can determine if it's set to DHCP?

  • WRT54GX4 Wireless Router and Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter

I just got an Xbox 360 with a Wireless Networking Adapter.  The adapter will recognize the network, but won't connect to it.  Even if I remove the security, the Xbox 360 won't connect.  Is there something else via the router I'm supposed to be doing?  I called Microsoft and they said to open the port settings, but I don't know if that's really the issue and I don't know how to do that if I need to.
The ports they gave me were:
    TCP 80
    UDP 88
    UDP 3074
    TCP 3074
    UDP 53
    TCP 53
Thanks for any help if you can.

    IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    6) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox

    7) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    8) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

  • Internet Sharing and Xbox 360

I want to share my Airport connection via ethernet to my Xbox 360. When I go to the internet sharing pane in system preferences, Ethernet does not show up as an option to share over. Any suggestions as to how to get it to show up? I have a late 2006 macbook.

I also recently got an Xbox and have been researching this same topic. This has been the most consistent solution to the problem that I've found:
you can share your internet connection through your Mac using a wireless network, but you have to connect your Mac to the Xbox via ethernet:
modem > wireless router > (via wireless) mac > (via ethernet cable) xbox (equipped with the Xbox wireless adaptor)
most people advising this solution were using a portable mac so it was easy for them to move it around.
The question that I still have not found an answer to is this: can I connect my Xbox WIRELESSLY to the internet via my iMac's airport connection? i.e.:
modem > (via ethernet cable) iMac > (via WIRELESS shared internet connection) > Xbox
I'm going to try the first solution for my 1-month free membership, but would rather not have to use my macbook as a wireless bridge if I can keep everything wireless by getting the Xbox wireless adapter.

  • WGA600n and Xbox horror

I just purchased a WRT110 and WGA600n and an xbox.  I have the router and the adaptor talking to eachother.  I want to access media center via the xbox, which is the big goal here.  Media center will come up, but it wont be stable and will crash.  I am not sure what the problem is.  I have consulted xbox and Cisco support.   The problem has not been solved.
I suspect that the WRT might not have enough power, but the adaptor and xbox are one floor below.  Monitoring the signal strength, it actually seems faster in WEP than WPA, but it bought this congfiguration for the draft N, which I was led to believe was more roboust.
Please advise before I lose my mind.

I had the same problem spent two days working on it with support help from linksys never got anything to work  from them
But on a whim i reset both my router and my wga600n and instead of using the discs that came with them for setup used windows software even used WPA password protection worked on all my devices.
Plugged the WGA600N straight into the xbox360 (did not configure on pc first) had xbox 360 look for networks typed in passcode and everything works like a charm i can stream hd to my xbox.
Hope it works for you to

  • WRT54G v2 with Strict NAT when connected via ethernet to Xbox 360

Hello, I apologize if this is in the wrong board as the router, although it is a wireless model, is connected to the Xbox 360 via ethernet cable, so I was a bit torn on where to place it. Router Model, Firmware version: WRT54G v2, v4.21.1 The problem and details are as follows: The Xbox 360 is running on the default settings. Literally, I plugged it into the router via ethernet and it automatically grabbed an IP (192.168.1.101) and the right information to connect to Xbox Live. The router is still running the default range of 50 IPs, so 100 to 149; the 360 was just the second thing to connect. Another computer is connected to the router via ethernet and a laptop is connected wirelessly, if this might affect the case at all. When using the Network Test feature of the Xbox 360, everything is operating perfectly except the NAT is giving me a Strict reading. Some of my games require an Open NAT for me to be able to access some features such as hosting a co-op match. Simply put, what do I need to do inside the router's settings that would give me an Open NAT on the Xbox 360?

well try reducing the MTU values to 1365 on the router, also try triggering 88, 3074 ports on the router...

    Hi,
Is there any way to be authentified by XML DB via WebDAV and SSO ?
If the access to our infrastructure of database servers is controled by SSO, once I'm authentified by OID (SSO), is it possible to pass that authentification to XML DB through standard port 8080 ?

  • I transferred some photos to my iphone via email and they come up in camera roll as low resolution.  How do I fix this?

I transferred some photos to my iphone via email and they have very low resolution.  First I sent them from iPhoto with highest resolution, then I transferred them to my desktop in highest resolution and added them to an email, opened the email and saved to my Camera roll.  They all look like low resolution photos. This is the exact method I have used to transfer photos in the past with my 4S and never had a problem.  What am I doing wrong?  Is this a bad camera?  HELP please!  Thank you!

My husband has the same phone, we purchased them at the same time.  I sent him the same photos in the same email that I downloaded them from and on his phone they show up with the normal higher resolution.  Is it possible that there is something wrong with my iPhone or is there a setting that can be changed?  I'm still learning to use it.  All my other photos are of normal resolution.  Does this make any sense to anyone?
    Please help!

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

When I connect my Mac Mini 2011 with Lion to a TV via HDMI and an earphone cable is plugged in, it´s not possible to choose sound out via hdmi, as opposed to connection via the minidisplay port. Anybody knows how to fix this?

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
    Go to your Finder
    Choose the Go Menu
    Choose Computer
    Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
    Choose your "Library" Folder
    Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
    Empty the Trash
    Restart from the Apple Menu
    When you are back up and running;
Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
         Choose Sound
In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation
