BT Infinty down now for 10 days.

Hi. Had bt infinty for around a year now. Recently on the 20th of april i had no internet. the broadband light was flashing orange. this has happened before so i left it thinking it would cure itself. The next morning it was still the same so i rung bt help. Spent over 40 mins on the phone trying various troubleshooting options, all of which i had already tried several times.
Finally the woman agreed to send an engineer out on thursday the 25th of april. He arrived and said there was a problem in the local area with infinity. He said there was a fault with the DSLAM power supply and it was due to be fixed that day.
He ran some tests on the phone line and connection from the master socket and said everything was fine. He called techsupport and told me there was nothing else he could do as the job had been contracted out by another company.
He said the job had a close date of the 30th of april, and went on his way.
The next day, still no internet so i rang bt help again, explained the situation to him. Put me on hold for around 20 mins while he spoke to his level 2 supervisor. Came back and said yes there is a fault on the line and the engineers are fixing it as soon as possible and told me all i could do was wait.
Today i still have no internet. But if i log into my bt account the fault checker says the fault has been closed and the problem fixed. There is clearly still a problem and i am loathed to ring bt help once again to be fobbed off.
I am paying £25 a month for a service i havnt been able to use for 10 days now. It's my birthday today and so far its been miserable trying to rectify this, please help :-(

So came home from work to find still no internet access. Waited for the promised phone call betweem 6-7 which didn't arrive either.
Called them up again and asked what was going on. He said oh yes sir they are working on the cabinet now. I look out of the window at the cabinet and no one is there. So i said no there isn't why are you lieing again? ohhh yes sir there is actually a problem at the exchange now. Then asked me to wait 10 minutes while he found out more info.
35 minutes later he comes back and says it will be fixed tommorow now but i may need an engineer to come out again to replace all our equipment (even though he tested it the first tie and said there was nothing wrong with our router/home hub and it was definately something wrong at the cabinet.
So 11 days without service and blatently lied to twice. I've contacted the mods yesterday but havn't heard anything back yet.
Don't know what else to do, feels like i'll never get this resolved anytime soon and i'm finding it more and more difficult to remain calm on the phone when i just get a pack of lies.

  • HT201263 I followed the instructions exactly, iTunes downloaded the whole file 790mb. However I then receive a message saying corrupted file. I have been trying now for 2 days to restore my ipad 2

    My ipad 2 keeps shutting down and opening. I followed all the advice and got to the point of restore my ipad 2 the files starts to download all 750mb. When the file has completely downloaded I then receive the message file corrupted try again later. I have been trying for 2 days now. HELP

    before storming into the Apple store i'm trying a couple of manual firmware restores..
    I should have an answer shortly but the idea is this:
    goto http://osxdaily.com/2010/11/02/download-ipad-firmware-ipsw/
    and download the firmware for your ipad model. if (like the rest of us) you do not know which ipad 2 you have, then download the first IOS 6.1 ipad2 file following these steps and if you receive a message saying "not for this model, or not compatible" then try the next file.
    small warning, this is a total factory restore so the downloads are around 700mb each.
    1. open itunes, ipad disconnected.
    2. connect ipad
    3. warning restore message appears
    4. (windows users) HOLD SHIFT and click the restore button. This should open a dialogue box allowing you to navigate to the file you downloaded. Select the file and hit ok.
    5. this should start the manual restore, if it fails, download the next file and repeat.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer                            
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    I am getting desperate trying to cancel by telephone a subscription to the NY Times since it expired on 01-15-13, and I tried to call to cancel and I even called the NY Times and spoke to an agent there that indeed located my subscription but could not help me cancel since I had bought it from iTunes.
    He did give me a tel. number for iTunes but he did not vouch that it would help me since it ended up being a technicl support number and the lady I spoke with told me that she could not even tell me where to go to cancel and she of course could not cancel it so back to square 1.
    I 'm concerned because my credit card did not have the funds to cover tha $34.99 charge, and escond, I have bought many apps. so far from your partners but now I am told that I will not be able to updare any of them as they offer updatings due to the payment problem on the NY Times although I  did not even wish to buy it again from iTunes at all.
    I have had an Apple I-phone as you can tell, for many years now and have the 3rd one right now and getting ready for May to come to upgrade to
    the latest model, but with this service, I'm inclined to "fuhgetetabout-it" and go to Galaxy, etc., that are begining to sound very atractive as of today.
    You tell me what is next and I will lsten, but I do not want to pay $34.99 just to throw my money away.  I will be willing to wait till May to finish my contract and move on to the competition if need be, I will not be bullied by a giant company that refuses to give me a tel. number to simply cnacel a subscriptin without wasting so much of my preciious times..

    What are you trying to download?  Which operating system are you using?  I would recommend canceling the download and trying again.  It is possible you choose a location which you do not have sufficient write access too.  Please try choosing the default download location of your User folder.

    I applied in North America on Aug. 13, and still under review. I asked them, it seems like their system is recovering from the maintenance. God knows how long will that take, I will ask them again today. Hope that helps!

    Someone changed my password for my iPhone 4. I have attempted to restore my device now for 3 days, continually being hooked up to the computer, continually having to restart, continually having to power off and then place the device in DFU mode.  I would LOVE to speak with someone from Apple, the only problem is to even begin to wait in line to chat with an Apple representative, I need my device's serial number to begin the lovely process of waiting in line.  How do I A)-Get the device's serial number when it is locked? B)-Begin to wait in line without said serial number?  I am beginning to think it would be much easier to just report the device as stolen, then contact my carrier and have them replace this device.  Am I doing something wrong for it to take 3+ days to restore? It has the most current, up to date software on the device, why in the world would it take 3+ days to simply restore to factory settings?

    If you open it to take out the battery from the iPhone then you forfeit all service for whatever reason from Apple in the future.
    Have you attempt to connect it to your computer and then restore it from iTunes on your computer?

  • Two Accounts. No updates for 90 days. How to Phase out one account?

    I now live in Australia. I have always had an iPhone. And when I moved, I had to create an Australian account to get access to my ANZ banking app here. Now I have two accounts that I have purchased apps under. These two accounts coexsisted with minor anoyances for the two years I lived here with my 3GS. But I upgraded to a 4S and started the iCloud experience. It still went fine until I turned on;

    Now I can't upgrade any apps purchased with my American account. No worries I said. I'll just buy them again with my Australian account and phase out my American account. I'm here for good. Nope. Tried to re-buy after logging in to my Australian account and it forces me to sign in to the account that I purchased it with. What is the fix for phasing an old account out and purchasing just with my one Australian account. Cause I need to update some of these apps to get full iOS 5 compatablilty on some of my American purchased apps. And it says I can't do that now for 90 days.Make sense? Couln't be as easy as merging two accounts. Could it?

    OK, You are right you can't merge. What I have to do is unauthorise my American account on my Macbook Pro in iTunes and repurchase the American apps (that are in Oz) on my Australian account. The part that I couldnt figure out was the authorisation. It would not let me re-purchase an app with my Australian account as it was telling me I already had it in my US account. It will mean some repurchasing but I will eventually get it whittled down to one account and then everything will run smoother.

    Did you call Customer Service to find out what is going on?  This is primarily a customer-to-customer help forum, so we have no way of knowing what is going on with your service.
