Bt's distinct lack of ability to downgrade a packa...

I downgraded my infinity option 3 package to the infinity option 1 package and verbally agreed that the contract length would remain unaffected and was assured it would finish at my 18month point, 39 days later. True to their word, the package downgraded, but the contract length and extra charges and were whacked on, which was it agreed. I have raised several complaints, being told on every occasion that my telephone conversation would be listened to and I would hear back from BT within 5 working days. Day 29 and 3 complaint registrations later and yet again, nothing has happened. Are BT thinking that they are god and that they can do what they like? I would also like to point out that they have claimed money from my bank account that is currently being disputed - what about the law? You are not allowed to claim money that is in dispute! Are BT above the law? I think not! They will not send any letters detailing the current point of my complaint and have left me no alternative but to go to court for breach of contract by BT and also to reclaim all monies owed to me. Avoid like the plague! Only become a BT customer if you want hassle, pay through your teeth and want to speak to India all the time ( who haven't jot a clue) and you like to feel that you are being mugged off! Thanks for nothing BT, see you in court!

this is a community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods.  your posts on the forum do not go to BT.  if BT have taken money from your account by DD then all you have to do is get your bavnk to reclaim the money under DD guarantee scheme.

    Placed my order to move my phone to a new property on 27th March - had to replace the order on 24th April as BT wanted to charge me £130 for the privalige (after being a BT customer for nearly 30 years!) - order replaced and original date maintained - all ok so far, text message a week before we are supposed to move to say that install of new line is delayed by a week as OpenReach had only just done a survey and found that all cabling was not yet in place - where on my original order screen does it tell me that this is subject to a survey?Waited a week for the new date only to be told delayed by another week. Got to that date as received two text messages and an email saying that this would be installed last Friday (23rd) between 8am and 1pm - waited, waited, waited........ phoned BT at 1.30 to find out what was going on only to be told that Openreach had till not done their cabling - got put through to BT compliants manager - promised a phone call last Tuesday - call never arrived as when he did phone me on wednesday he told me that he'd only just come back after the BH weekend! Now been told that Open Reach MAY be doing something on 2nd June (ha ha - right) and that I may get a connection 2 weeks after this!!!
    Shocking seeing that I placed my original order on 27th March - fed up of promises being made and broken, fed up of excuses that its someone elses fault, fed up of people saying sorry - it doesnt get my phone connected!! If you say you are going to do something then do it!
    Should also add that a family relation has Alziemers and we have to keep in regular contact - my wife has Pay as You go and its costing her a fortune in calls on her mobile (she never uses it for calls hence PAYG) but will BT refund me those costs - doubt it very much!

  • Rebooting causes lack of ability to connect

    I made the switch to a MBP today after 13 years of windows. I have just about everything working great, except for some wireless issues.
    I have a linksys wireless router running WPA on channel 6
    I setup the wireless network from the icon in the top bar. Everything seems great - I just picked a network, types in the password and I was good to go.
    After a reboot though, I am unable to connect to the internet. Odd thing is, I see full bars visible on the airport icon in the top bar, but am unable to connect. If I drop it down and pick 'other' network and re-setup the wireless network, it once again connects and works - but I am forced to do this after every reboot.
    I tried open up my Network Preferences and switching between 'Automatic' and 'Preferred' but neither seem to make a difference after a reboot. This is with 10.4.6 and fully updated. Can someone please give me some ideas on how to fix this?

    I see. This somewhat poses a problem for me as I am unable to change to WEP for business reasons.
    Is there another solution that will allow me to connect everytime without issues? I dont mind paying for a program if it does the job.

  • What functions/apps affected by lack of voice+data support?

    I've been looking for an article or thread that pulls together what apps/functions would be affected by the iPhone 5/Verizon/Sprint issue of lacking simultaneous voice and data. A lot of people seem to be under the impression it would only hinder web browsing but since many apps/functions access data to work, I assume the problem would be wider spread. Wouldn't this issue also hurt the following functions/apps?
    FaceTime
    Turn-by-Turn
    Tango
    Any sports apps looking up stats
    Text or iMessaging
    Skype
    What if someone calls while your downloading music?
    Those are the first ones that popped into my head.

    I've been a Verizon customer for about 15 years. I can't say I've ever been negatively impacted by the lack of ability to do voice and data simultaneously. If I don't want to interrupt what I'm doing, I don't answer. The data connection, though momentarily interrupted, picks up again.
    By the way, text messaging doesn't use data. You can get text messages while on a voice call as anyone who's ever forgotten to flip the mute switch while on a call can tell you.
    Others may have a different experience.

  • Response from Verizon about lack of Lumia device support

    I am wanting to know what the exact problem is with issuing Lumia updates from this carrier. As of today in the United States the only carrier that has to issue an update to Cyan for Lumia devices is Verizon. We have the Denim update coming to Lumia devices here soon. Then there is the confirmation that next year when Windows 10 premieres devices that are running Windows 8.1 will be able to update but Denim, and subsequently Cyan updates, will be required to perform this update. Honestly I am very displeased with this support and this lack of ability to get the update out, whoever might be involved in that, but seeing as every other carrier in the United States has the update available then there has to be something that Verizon is making difficult in deployment. Seeing as really this should not be Verizon's decision as to when this update is delivered originally, because it is not like a computer's updates is dictated by an ISP, this is something that really is rubbing my fur the wrong way. Thus I would like to open yet another discussion thread on this issue and see if Verizon will give any additional details as to why they are the last service provider to update their old devices considering that they also have the smallest line of products from now Microsoft, they have reduced that line of product recently and they have yet to make any official comment on the issue or if we will ever see the device. I am very patient but 6 months to get an update is a little ridiculous.

    Verizon does not care about Windows Phone Users! It is very obvious. Why did they pull the Icon? Why did they not start testing the Cyan update in a timely manner? Why do they not respond? THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT WINDOWS PHONE USERS!

    Background - We have purchased WS 2012 SE licenses for one of our client. Few of client applications are supported only on WS 2008 environment. As per our setup, we had planned for few VMs alongwith physical servers. So the architecture will now be having
    fewer downgraded servers running on WS 2008 and rest on WS 2012 or ALL downgraded on WS 2008 - as per the licensing requirement and our best fit to them - based on our understanding on the following :
    Query 1 - WS 2012 SE comes with support of upto 02 VMs. Can we use 02 VMs + 01 Physical server through the same license ? or do we need to go on for more licensing ?
    Query 2 - If we downgrade to WS 2008 - how many VMs it will support with the same licensing ?
    Query 3 - Can we keep WS 2012 server on our base physical machines and run VMs on downgraded WS 2008 ?

  • Downgrade 10.1.0.273 to 10.0.10.90?

    Hi all is there a way of downgrading back to 10.0.10.90 from the new 10.1.0.273 OS as its screwed up my phone big time now, first off my Hub management is showing all accounts even though most are turned off from Hub management even after the normal reboots etc and the battery life has gone from good to worse and the screen gestures has been altered slightly it seems too as its now harder for me to slide out of one app screen to another etc, all was fine and dandy when set up on OS 10.0.10.90 and now we have 10.1.0.273 OS everything has been messed up and not happy at all with no ability to downgrade that i have found yet, not found any other issues yet other than some apps wont work with new os etc and also video seems to be laggy now when panning around it seems that the camera in video footage mode seems to have to catch up with your hand movement motion even when going slow?Will report any other defects with this so called "New OS FIx?" RegardsMrNeon8

  • HP Experts - dm3 Switchable graphics and a lack of bios functionality

    I currently own a dm3-1155ea with a switchable integrated 3200 and discrete 4330. I chose to put fedora 14 on my laptop which, when using proprietary graphics drivers (which are pretty much required for anything resembling battery life) only allow you to use the integrated graphics. Wishing to use the 4330, I ventured into the bios only to find a distinct lack of... Well, anything useful.
    I've talked to customer support and they've confirmed that the functionality to turn off the integrated graphics exists, but has been deliberately disabled... Why? I understand hiding voltages and stuff or perhaps implementing a hidden yet accessible advanced bios for more advanced users, but doesn't it seem a little excessive completely blocking access to useful features? Features that are presumably there to solve little problems like mine...
    So yeah, my question is really why so stingy with the bios features? Also, if you have any alternative suggestions about the switchable graphics in linux issue, I'd welcome them

    I also have a laptop with switchable graphics but Intel integrated and ATI 3400 discrete. I run Kubuntu Linux 10.10 and cannot get the ATI proprietary drivers to work properly. My laptop is a Lenovo and it gives BIOS support to set the graphics all integrated, all dedicated or switchable and you can also turn off OS support for switchable. The only way Linux works right for me is to turn off OS support for switchable. Then I can set it to either all integrated or all dedicated. Windows 7 64 bit can run either graphics system, but Linux only sees and works off the integrated graphics, even if the BIOS is set to dedicated! I have no complaint as I still have OpenGL support at least at  a minimal level (can run tuxracer). But if I try to install the add-on proprietary ATI driver I get the Linux equivalent of a blue screen....garbled pixellated log-in screen.

    My phone (iPhone 4) has had a lack of storage for a while (and I hope that putting photos on my computer then deleting them from my phone will free up quite a bit of space), and last week my iMessage stopped working. Will it come back once storage space is freed up? Lack of storage space is the only explanation that comes to mind when wondering about this problem.

  • Another customer having nightmare with XP downgrade.

    Should the Thinkpad SL500 come with a supplemental XP recovery disc?
    There isn't one in the pack, but the system refuses to accept 'no' for an answer.
    As the instructions in the pack and on Lenovo online help (also on forums) are either outdated, wrong or for a different machine, I've at a bit of a loss.
    I've seen a warning box saying 'debug assertation failed' a couple of times, but I've no idea what that means...  
    And the help desk is closed...
    The retailer was understanding - clearly this must happen a lot with Lenovo - so I'm tempted to return the machine to the retailer, and buy one from Dell (I swore blind I'd never buy another machine from Dell, but at least they pre-install XP and send the proper software rather than 'recovery' discs).

    The XP recovery disk? Are you saying that your laptop came with Vista OS, and you have XP pro downgrade disks included? There should be 3 disks in the downgrade disk pack.

  • I need to consolidate two iTunes libraries from different countries.

    I have been struggling for approximately 5 years now to resolve an issue which it seems is normal for those Apple users who move countries from time to time.  Specifically, I have ended up (inadvertantly in the first instance) with two distinct iTunes accounts -- one in Australia (which cannot be changed to UK as I don't have an Australian credit card and the balance at $1.04 is non-zero) -- and another in the UK (which I use all the time).
    I have tried again and again to get this straightened out with Apple, with iTunes support, with Genius Bar people, store managers and on and on -- however, for some reason which is beyond my humble comprehension -- and despite being a significant (£30k) personal Apple customer over recent years -- I cannot get anything other than "passing the buck" between the Apple Store and Geniuses to iTunes Customer Support online -- who, frankly, have demonstrated a complete lack of ability to 1) understand the problem in the first instance without a lot of going backwards and forwards, 2) fail to provide any suitable or acceptible answers that would help -- instead repeating (as if in a different conversation) the same words again and again (via text emails -- which I'll happily share further with all who are interested); 3) fail to demonstrate any capability of elevating this so that the issue is solved once and for all.
    I have a large library of music and music video's purchased in the UK and Australia (and some which was purchased in the USA when I was there -- thankfully without this particular set of problems).  The Australian account cannot be changed to UK as it has a non-zero balance of $1.04 -- and so I cannot hope to put a UK credit card on file in order to achieve my first goal of upgrading the music and music videos to non-DRM, high resolution, explicit etc. etc. and also sychronising with iMatch alongside my UK content.
    Every single time I attempt to do something with iTunes or my MacBook Pro (either of them), my iPad, my iPhone 5, my AppleTV, my Mobileme account etc. etc. -- it does not work properly due to the "split nature" of the music catalogue -- and the different countries which each are registered to -- where-as I am based in the UK (although may move back to the USA in some time again).
    I would appreciate a full refund of all of the content which was bought in Australia -- so that these purchases can be transferred or remade with my current account.  I also want to know how I am to manage this situation the next time I move country.  So far, it would be easier to steal the music via P2P than to continue paying over the odds for content which is not being "handed over" to me in a reasonable way. 
    I love my Apple experience so much other than this particular issue -- please can somebody help me fix this.  It is central to my whole experience of the vast investment I have made with joinging the "Apple Adventure"..

    if you're on iTunes 9, the easiest way would be to drag & drop the contents of the (external ?) hard drive into the *automatically add to iTunes* folder inside the iTunes folder of the target machine.
    you will have duplicates, which can be deleted later on (or kept and filtered using smart playlists).

  • 7.3.1 firmware breaks 6to4 IPv6 connectivity

    Can others confirm that the 7.3.1 firmware breaks connectivity to various 6to4 sites? I reverted to 7.2.1 and my connectivity is restored. I'm a Comcast customer in the USA, so the Airport "helpfully" prevents me from using a static tunnel with DHCP-assigned WAN addresses, thus I'm stuck with 6to4.
    It appears as though the 7.3.1 firmware drops inbound 6to4-encapsulated traffic if the IPv4 wrapper source address is not 192.88.99.1, the 6to4 relay anycast address per RFC 3068. Whilst it's correct to send to this address (and only a minor irritation that it can't be overriden) it's wrong to insist that return traffic come from this, since it's effectively a "virtual" address, by virtue of being anycast and advertised by any helpful IPv6 network operator. It's good practice for 6to4 relays returning traffic to use their "real" IPv4 address for accountability.
    Examples of broken sites:
    https://6to4.nro.net/ (so no reverse DNS registration possible)
    http://www.ja.net/
    http://www.exim.org/
    Return traffic goes via the 6to4 relay handling 2002::/16 which is nearest, IPv6-network-wise, to the node sending back the traffic; so traceroute6 starts showing "* * *" at the point where the remote side is using a 6to4 relay that believes in accountability and is thus rejected by 7.3.1 firmware.
    This is all by my observations, with the help of some IPv6 network operators and various looking-glass traceroutes. The lack of ability to sniff external traffic with an Airport somewhat hinders local diagnosis.
    Can anyone confirm or deny this? Or offer hope of this regression being fixed?

    I'm just confirming that I have noticed the same problem. With the help of a colleague, we setup two AEs (AirPort Extreme) at different sites. Each had a global IPv4 address so it could give its children "2002::/16" addresses (note, if the AE doesn't get a global IPv4 address on its WAN, it won't respond to router solicitations on the LAN). We then attempted to get a child from one network to contact a child in the other, but failed because the destination AE would return an ICMP "destination unreachable" message. If we downgrade the destination AE to 7.2.1, then communication works perfectly. The behaviour from version 7.2.1 seems like what's intended for a 6to4 tunnel, so I'm puzzled why the Apple engineers would take this out.

  • CS5 not opening CS5 project!!

    I am having this same problem in a FULL install of CS5. I am on a Mac, using all MOV footage encoded with CineForm NeoScene (and yes, I have the most recent versions of the codecs installed for everything). I have one sequence that is dynamic linked from After Effects, and it has given me no trouble so far. The project was started in CS5 about a week ago, and I have worked on it several times since. I have closed, opened, edited and exported it without trouble. Until today.
    Now I am getting the dreaded "This project contained a sequece that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type" error. Never mind how unnerving it is that the error uses the past-tense, making it sound like all hope is lost.
    I similarly get returned to the "Welcome" pane offering me new or recent projects to open (I should probably disable that), and the project I am trying to open never comes up. It won't open at all, so I can't check the sequence settings to see what's going on. As I mentioned, it all opened and worked fine two days ago, and as far as I know nothing has changed in my system since then.
    This is a big problem, since I need to make edits to this project, and I am hoping not to have to start it again from the ground up.
    Does my lack of ability to open the project at all indicate a bigger problem? Could it have something to do with Dynamic Link (it doesn't matter if I have that lnked file open in AE, I still can't open the Premiere project). I have restarted and tried opening it fresh, no luck.
    Can anyone give me some quick guidance with this? Thank you!

    Yep, turned out it was the dreaded Trial-reversion bug on an update. I uninstalled, cleaned, and reinstalled then updated from Bridge, and everything seems to be working well.
    I did have some distinct playback problems at first, but I dug in and found that nVidia had updated drivers for their Mac cards and for the CUDA cores. Installing those cleared everything up and I am now running better than I was before! Thanks everyone.

  • My Mac is bypassing a website filter... How can I stop it?

    I am a computer technician at our local high school. Right now, the school has about 800 Dell computers, but we are planning on introducing a few Macintosh labs within the next school year.
    Since they lack educational value, the school district's director of technology (my boss) has a web filter (Deep Nine) that blocks myspace, facebook, youtube, proxy sites, and other similar sites.
    Myspace is blocked via a keyword filter, any page containing the word "myspace" in the url, or in the document a set number of times, is automatically blocked. The other sites are simply blocked by URL. This filter works perfectly on our Dells, no one can access Myspace, Facebook, Proxies, etc.
    I brought my Macbook to work today, plugged it into the network, and logged onto the internet. I noticed instantly that my homepage (Facebook) loaded without being blocked at all. Curious, I tested myspace and youtube, and I could get on youtube fine, but myspace remained blocked.
    I checked on the Dell next to me, and all those sites will still being filtered and blocked. Yet my Macbook was able to access them without issue. So it would appear that my Macbook has some mystic ability to bypass the web address filter, but it can not bypass the keyword filter.
    I do not have any proxies configured. My Macbook connects to the network (and thus, the internet) the same exact way the other computers within the school do, with the exception of the other computers being within Active Directory.
    I need to find out if it is an issue with the Mac or with our Filter. I don't have any other Macs available to test with (Our only other Mac in the school is our DHCP server, and we do not use servers as "lab rat" computers).
    Has anyone had any similar issues with this? Or does anyone know of any way I can diagnose this with only one Mac and only one Filter?
    Specs: OS 10.5.5, Safari 3.1.2, wired networking.

    The DeepNines product works well and does much more than a simple URL filter. The problem lies entirely in your district setup and not in their product. If you're not using a proxy filter, then you have all access and routes designed to head out on typical port 80 traffic to your isp and ultimately the internet hence no proxy configs. The filter is integrated with LDAP accounts at each of your locations to tell it which users and groups are to get filtered at what level. That tie in is what breaks down who goes where. If you introduce new macs onto the network and they have not been configured to work with the DN appliance and are going out unfiltered... then there are 2 problems here. #1 is that you have computers attaching to the network, receiving leases and doing what they want. Use DHCP reservations or a whitelist to control who gets on your network. #2 is that your DeepNines filter has not been set to failover to BLOCK. Instead, it's allowing unknown users to bypass freely simply because it doesn't recognize their group/account. And Orange, stop slamming the company. They are a smaller business that has taken a much better approach to filtering than any other large corporation. Standard database driven URL filters DO NOT WORK....PERIOD! I challenge you to call any district that is running their appliance to get their opinion of it in comparison to any of the other basic url filters out there. I did just that last week and they had absolutely nothing but high praises for the DN product. One even laughed at Websense which they had before switching simply for the lack of ability to block anonymouse proxies.
