BTN overflow channels during football season

Any word from Verizon regarding Fios offering the Big Ten Network overflow channels during football season?  My alma mater just annouced that its first 3 games will be on the BTN, but they will likely not be on the main BTN channel.  Thanks.

Great news!  Thanks for the info.  This was the only concern I had when I swiched from DirecTV in January.  Gotta love Fios!

  • Will the Big Ten Network overflow channels be available in my area by Sept. 5th?

It seems that the majority of the nation has gotten the Big Ten Network overflow channels on 330-333.  These came on-line sometime in late July.  However, I have yet to receive them and the supervisor at Verizon whom I spoke to yesterday says that my "region" doesn't have them and doesn't know if I'll be getting them.
I have the regular BTN channel and the BTN HD.  Why is it that folks in the town next door to me, folks in Virginia, and folks in Califormia have these channels, and I do not?
Will they be available in time for the first Big Ten football games on September 5th?
I live in Lawrenceville, NJ, and have the "Hopewell Township" line-up.

For everyone that is serviced out of VHO8 (Philly area, DE, South Jersey) - we should see the channels come online the last week of August.
Additional project work is in progress at the VHO which has held up the launch. No worries - we'll have them before the first PSU game.

  • Big Ten Network overflow channels

In years past, Verizon has offered all 4 overflow channels that the big ten network uses to show all of its college football games on channels 330-333. They are still listed on the channel lineup page for my area. However, at the moment, the program guide only shows two overflow channels 330-331.
Can we expect the other channels to be turned on before game day? I called fios but didn't get much help. She seemed to think I was having a tech problem, but even the fios mobile app and website only list the 2 channels on their tv listings.

Having looked at the listings on BTN, it looks like maybe they have scheduled the games so that they no longer need more than 2 overflow channels.  Someone following the Big Ten more closely than me might know better, but I seem to recall on the past that there was generally just the early kickoff for the Big Ten games on BTN.  It appears that with as many as 3 daily start times, they are spreading the game out through the day so there are never more than 3 games (regular BTN + 2 overflows) at a time.
    Hopefully all is well.
But I agree with the previous poster.  I would love to get BTN2Go.  This seems like the kind of perk Verizon usually offers us.

  • Teradata OBIEE numeric overflow occurred during computation

    Hi Guys,
I have union of two queries in OBIEE and backend data base is teradata. report and sql generated by query are throwing an error " ][ODBC Teradata Driver][Teradata Database] Numeric overflow occurred during computation"
same query ran in teradata and there also getting same error.
report should fetch sime number may be 5 digit but not sure why I'm getting this error.
    Any idea? appreciated
    Thanks
    Jay.

    Hi Jay,
May be you have these as smallint and the aggregation does not fit in smallint. But knowing your data demographics is the only solution. Run that query in the database and I am sure you will get the same error and change the datatype of those columns.

    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hi Krishna,
    The slowness may caused by:
    1. Operating System. Please keep track of OS usage (like iostat).
    2. Network. Please keep track network flow (like tcpdump).
Note: Please don't use SYNC log transport mode across a wide area network (WAN) with latencies above 10ms.

  • Selecting audio channels during capturing

I am in the process of capturing a interview style documentary that was shot with a Panasonic AG-DVX100B. The interviews that were shot on location used a handheld wireless microphone connected to line 1. Normally, I would set the capture setup to only capture line 1 of the audio so that the built-in camera mic on line 2 would not be captured and create an echo. I would then capture the entire day's shoot into one clip. The shoot is about 45 minutes in total.
During this particular day's shoot we shot some footage in the car using only the built-in camera mic. The camera was still set to use the wireless receiver on line 1, so only line 2 has audio (from the camera mic). So as you can figure, when I captured my normal way with only line 1, there was no audio for the car scenes.
The audio from the car scene was recorded fine on line 2 so now I need to come up with a different process for capturing this show... and maybe reconsider the way way I capture all together. I have not started editing so it's okay to recapture at this point.
    My question is:
    1. Should I capture each of the three locations seperatly with different audio settings and do a batch capture? ie; Location 1 (line 1 for handheld mic) Car (line 2 for camera mic) and Location 2 (line 1 for handheld mic).
    2. Do I capture both line 1 and 2 into one 45 minute clip and select the audio channel that I want from within FCP?
    3. If answer 2 is the recommendation, how do I do that without having to deselect an audio channel in each edit in the timeline.
Thanks in advance for the assistance!

    go for option 2,
you can de-select the errant audio track from the source side when you create your sequence so you don't have to do it to all edits. thats one of the joys of editing!
you may find you have some good sound on the other mike though don't just throw it away
    best regards
    andy

  • Will iTunes have a season 4 game of thrones season pass during the season?

Can anyone answer this as I saw that in Australia Itunes will not have a season pass...???

No-one here will know.  There was an exclusive rights deal between HBO and Foxtel, but the HBO/Foxtel exclusive rights issue is over and done with already. GOT S4 is available right now on Google Play - so why not iTunes?  I think it likely the ball is in Apple's court now, so I hope they start negotiating with HBO soon, because I would prefer to have all my seasons of GOT available on the same platform, but it won't be the end of the world if I buy the android version (which is selling pretty cheap for some reason).

  • No Big Ten Network on FIOS for the start of the season?

Verizon signed a contract with BTN in July and I still won't have BTN to start the football season in Philadelphia! Time Warner and Mediacom just signed this week and will have the games available for Saturday. Comcast signed a contract at the same time and started BTN coverage Aug 15. I live in a Big Ten state where there is demand to see PSU, what gives?

I am actually an Iowa fan, so I am hoping that FIOS will have all the spillover games as well. If they don't I am switching back to Comcast because Comcast has all the spillover games. I am upset that I have to go to a bar and grill to watch the game instead of staying at home to watch them because that will mean I have to limit my comments and I will undoubtedly get crap from Penn State fans for watching the Iowa game, which is not so bad because most of the Penn State fans have been pretty nice. I just called Big Ten Network and they didn't have a specific date for me as to when I would get BTN, just that FIOS planned to roll it out between August 25th and September 16th. I told the guy that I was frustrated and he hinted at the fact the BTN was a little disappointed with FIOS for not providing the games to its customers for the start of the season. He also said that FIOS has not been telling people when they will get BTN, for others they have added the channel late, and in some markets it has just shown up without an announcement. I am happy with all other aspect of FIOS TV, but this one just makes no logical sense. I am sure we are in the minority, as most customers could care less if they get BTN.

  • Big Ten Network - Alternate Programming

I'm  recent transfer from DirecTV and am confused about the Big Ten Network programming on Comcast.  BTN routinely broadcasts multiple games at the same time on football Saturdays.  On DirecTV, channel 610 carried the primary game, and channel 611 or 612 carried an alternate game.  When I switched to Comcast, I was told it worked the same way ... channel 37 is the primary BTN and channel 255 is the alternate.   But, this past Saturday, while DirecTV carried both the Penn State and Iowa games, Comcast carried only the Penn State game.  It was televised on both 37 and 255.  This coming Saturday (Sep 11), DirecTV is scheduled to carry both the Minnesota game and the Purdue game.  Comcast is scheduled to carry only the Minnesota game, on both 37 and 255. Can anyone help me with this?  Does Comcast carry the alternate BTN programming like I was told?  Am I just looking at the wrong channels?  Thanks.

In your area of Minnesota, the Big Ten Network can be found on channel 27 and in HD on channel 867. Overflow channels are channels 692 and 693.

  • Am I correct that Quantum does not support the eSATA external drives?

I bought an eSATA external drive when they first became available and I get a huge amount of storage space (something like 120 hours of HD).
Can you mix and match your old DVR with the new Quantum DVR?  In other words, could I keep my old one up in the bedroom or is quantum all or nothing?
The 6 channels at once thing is appealing - particularly during football season ... but going backwards on recording capacity is a dealkiller, regrettably.
    Solved!

So I've renewed my FIOS contract.  If/when the six-channel DVR starts supporting eSATA, I'll reconsider switching to it.  If the port is on there, it's a shame that they're not enabling it.  I guess that they want an upcharge for extra capacity rather than letting you buy it yourself.
The VMS boxes are in a sense using older firmware such as the guide being the older version then what the multi room boxes use right now which is why the ports arent enabled yet. I'm sure once they release a new firmware upgrade they will be enabled.

  • Cannot listen to recorded track

I am pretty much a novice with Garage Band. I do a weekly podcast during football season the last time was in Dec 2007. Last year I would record, then then I could listen to the track to edit, then add my opening and closing.
So last year I would finish recording, go back to the start and hit play. When I do that now is says its playing and I see the screen, but no sound. Mute it not on, I open ITUNES and the sound is working right.
What am I doing wrong??? HELP??

  • Well, Verizon, you may lose me.

I upgraded my phone on Friday December 6, 2013.  I WAS told that I'd 'lose' my unlimited data and that it'd be replaced by 6GB a month FOR THE NEXT CONTRACT.  That's fine, I barely go over 2 most months, and only get close to 6 during football season watching stuff on my phone.
Right now, I'm looking at this for my 'usage' data:
This is your data usage since your recent plan change. You have exceeded your prorated plan allowance
    Data
    6.418 of 1.600 GB used
Estimate as of 12/08/2013 at 6:32 PM Date and time reflect last Data usage we received. Usage estimate and allowance may not include data used outside your local calling area, roaming charges, and may not take into consideration any promotional or bonus allowance you may have.
4.819 GB over current data plan
I'm thinking "WOAH, WOAH, WOAH".  This data was used Over the past month BEFORE I switched.  My 'billing cycle' ends 12/12/2013, but it started on December 5th.  I will not accept a partial month's data plan for an entire month's usage and be billed extra for it.  I have two weeks to return the phone, and I have ample reason since it doesn't work to call people unless I'm on speaker phone.
If I'm going to be billed an extra $50 for the 'overage' when I had unlimited data until the 8th, I'm done being a Verizon customer.  I've used less than 1/3 of my allotted 'amount' ( <500mb of 1.6gb) since getting the phone, and almost all of that was getting apps back on my phone.  This wasn't explained to me during the sign up process, just that my data plan would be changing to 6GB, which I accepted on the understanding that it was a full month's amount.

First of all, if you previously had unlimited data, the pro-rated amount for the first part of the month would be irrelevant since a pro-rated amount of unlimited is STILL unlimited.
Next, you say you made the change on Dec 5 and your billing cycle ends on Dec 12. That means your pro-rated data allowance for these last 7 days of your billing cycle would be 7days/30days(7/30=.233) * 6 GB = 1.4 GB. The charge for this pro-rated data allowance would be $18.67. You will also get a credit on your next bill for the pro-rated unlimited data for the last 7 days of the month which would be $7.00.
Of course, these numbers would be adjusted if you had any discounts thru your employer.
