BTsync over a HTTP proxy?

Is there a way to bypass an http proxy using btsync? It works on my home network environment but I can't seem to get it working on my university.

According to [1], it is possible to configure a proxy server. They do mention that it might cause some problems. If it still doesn't work, you can also try syncthing, a similar program.

  • Mail over HTTP Proxy

    Hi,
I have a peculiar problem, while trying to access Gmail over office wifi (this has a HTTP proxy) my i-phone 3G keeps checking for mail, but doesn't update anything. If I disable wifi and access the same over edge it works.
I checked the proxy configuration by launching other apps and safari. All of these work fine.
Is this a known issue? Any help on this please?

I've got some similar issue here with proxy authentication over wifi, but none of the apps (except Safari and AppStore) works. Check these threads, please:

  • Http proxy authentication for JDev 10.1.3

    Hi,
I found the http proxy settings in the "tools->preferences->Web Browser and Proxy" but there are no settings for the username and password. Is there some other way that I can add these.
The problem is that whenver JDeveloper wants to do some http stuff it (or something else is doing it) asks me for the proxy user name & password - this happens over and over again. If JDev is doing this then surely it should remember the username & password.
I sometimes get a JDeveloper dialog "waiting for the connection" come up over the proxy auth dialog and I have to cancel the function so I can authenticate, then re-request the function.
I wish I didn't have the proxy authentication but I have no choice in this dev environment. I do get to choose JDeveloper at least.
    Regards,
    Simon.

    Hi,
I get it when I 'check for updates' and I get it again when I 'go to JavaDoc' - and this is the one where the "waiting for connection dialog" pops on top of the proxy log in and I have to cancel it to log in. Then all subsequent 'go to JavaDoc' requests go straight through.
I would prefer it if I could just configure (in proxy preferences) the username and password so it never asks me. I dont care if it less secure storing the password since I think authenticating proxies are a dumb idea anyway. If the password is not supplied then JDev can ask for it like it does now to keep the security-paranoid people happy.
Also, this morning I got this Exception which appeared at the same time I got a proxy auth window. When JDev finally started all my previously open windows were lost. No real problem but unexpected. Here is the stack dump:

  • HTTP proxy server connection error

My iPhone4S can't connect well to 3G, only works properly with WIFI connection. When i try to navegate with safari or other apps, HTTP proxy error is shown. I only receive notifications, but when i try to open the specify app: server error. Its weird, because for instance, whatsapp and mail clients like sparrow works properly with 3G. I can update my mail and send whatsapp, but i cant receive or send any attachments.
I've tried to reset my iphone, and reset my network configuration, but the problem is still there.
    Thanks everyone!

I had this problem. It started when I took my unlocked iPhone from Australia on a Telstra SIM to the U.S. and put in a Straight Talk SIM. I used unlockit.co.nz to generate a new APN for my phone while on Straight Talk, which worked fine.
However, upon coming back to Australia and reinserting my Telstra SIM, I couldn't access HTTP. My VPN would start over 3G and I could get push notifications and data in some apps, but anything that used HTTP, including Safari, would give me the proxy error or a network timeout error. Wifi worked perfectly.
I called Telstra and they said it wasn't them. I was sitting on hold with Apple Care when I thought to try inserting my colleague's Telstra SIM into my phone and, voila, it worked perfectly. I hung up and called Telstra back to complain but while on hold I put my own old Telstra SIM back in only to find that I had fixed my problem.
So try inserting a known, working SIM from the same carrier and see if that fixes your problem. Stopping into one of their stores may be the answer if you don't have any other SIMs handy.
I suspect that somewhere in the iPhone an HTTP proxy for 3G setting was set and stuck, and trying a new SIM erased that setting.

  • XML Strings as method parameters with HTTP + proxy.

    Hi,
We are stuck with the following problem...
We have a client making a remote method call to an SessionBean, and one parameter of this method is a String, which has some well formed XML structure in it.
When we call this method with RMI-IIOP over TCP, there is no problem. However, when we call the same method from long distance (like another building) using RMI-IIOP over HTTP (we have used HTTP Tunnelling facility of IBM WebSphere), some strange things happen.
When we print the incoming XML String in the first case, all is well. However, in the second case the incoming string is just full RUBBISH characters (some binary stuff I guess).
    Configuration is such,
App Server = IBM WebSphere 4.02
App Server OS = Linux, Red Hat
    Client = Standalone Java Application
    HTTP Proxy = Squid
If anyone knows why such a thing can happen, please help. Even a trail would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance...

make sure you got the same encoding on both ends....

  • HTTPS Proxy Settings

    Hello,
I'm trying to connect to a HTTPS URL through a proxy.
Everything works fine if I set the https.proxy and https.port properties:
    System.setProperty("https.proxyHost", "proxy.ieci.geci");
System.setProperty("https.proxyPort", "8080"); or if I set the JVM settings
    -Dhttps.proxyHost=proxy.ieci.geci
-Dhttps.proxyPort=8080But I would like not to set this system properties, because all the applications over this JVM will run with this settings. I would like to do in a different way, but I don't know how.
I have tried with the next URL constructor, but it doesn't work.
    URL url = new URL("https", "proxy.ieci.geci", 8080, "https://apuc.cert.fnmt.es:443/TimeStamp/TimeStampServer");
    Please, help me.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello again,
With a JVM 1.5, I get it through the java.net.Proxy Class. But I'm using the JVM 1.4 so it is not a solution for me the class java.net.Proxy. Any idea?
    Thanks !!

  • VPN and unwanted HTTP proxy

I have a VPN tunnel working to my customer's site. However, it forces an HTTP proxy setting which routes all my http traffic through their proxy server. A side effect of this is that I can't access internal machines because the proxy server is only set up to access machines outside their network. This kind of defeats the point of the VPN.
So, my goal is no http or https proxy. DNS should resolve based on search domains. This all works for non http/https requests. My mac can resolve all the domain names properly and can send traffic to the machines just fine. Ssh, vnc and other non-web access works great, both hosts over the VPN tunnel or just out my WAN interface.
It's just the web proxy that is causing grief.
    Thanks for any help.

Another piece of information. I screwed up and had a bogus entry in the /etc/hosts file for the machine I was testing web access to. Now I can access internal machines at my customer's site. However it looks like the web proxy is still in effect. If I set the Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains to * I see the change take effect with the scutil --proxy command. However my traffic still goes through their proxy server.

    -Dhttp.proxyPort=3126
    -Dhttp.proxyUser=<someUserName>
    -Dhttp.proxyPassword=<somePassword>
Accessing the page in Internet Explorer or Firefox is working fine. Somebody knows any additional configuration to this case?
    Thanks in advance

In osb you can configure a HTTP proxy server. Once this is done all BS http/https requests will be through the configured proxy server.

    Hi Jani,
    Thanks for your reply.
I am new to webservices and we are trying to do a POC on invoking FinancialUtilService using HTTP proxy client. I am following steps mentioned in attached pdf section "Invoking FinancialUtil Service using Web Service Proxy Client". I have imported certificate using below command.

        wsbp.setOutboundHeaders( new StringHeader(WS_ADDR_VER.messageIDTag, uuid), replyTo.createHeader(WS_ADDR_VER.replyToTag));

  • Sending files via File Adapter through FTP having a HTTP proxy as firewall

    Dear  experts,
I am having a issue trying to send a file via FTP with the File Adapter. My client has a HTTP proxy with authentification required as firewall  in order to send files via FTP.
I've tried several solutions but I cannot find a way to add the proxy name, user and password in the communication channel.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards

    Hi,
Unfortunately those changes didn't work. The adapter is not able to establish a connection within the FTP server. These are the parameters I added:
    -Dhttp.proxy.user=<usename>
    -Dhttp.proxy.password=<userpassword>
    -Dhttp.proxyHost=<proxy.domain...>
    -Dhttp.proxyPort=80
    -Dhttp.nonProxyHost="*domain1.com domain2com"
    -Dhttps.proxy.user=<usename>
    -Dhttps.proxy.password=<userpassword>
    -Dhttps.proxyHost=<proxy.domain...>
    -Dhttps.proxyPort=80
    -Dhttps.nonProxyHost="*domain1.com domain2com"
And just in case, we tried with these other parameters at the same time.
    -Dftp.proxy.user=<usename>
    -Dftp.proxy.password=<userpassword>
    -Dftp.proxyHost=<proxy.domain...>
    -Ddftp.proxyPort=80
    -Dftp.nonProxyHost="*domain1.com domain2com"
The errors in the adapter engine's log are:
Error MP: Exception caught with cause com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool: com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: ConnectException: Socket connection timed out: <ftp ip address>

By the way, we are using  PI 7.0.
    Thanks in advance

  • Sending vectors over an Http connection

Hello, I want to send vectors from my midlet over a http connection to a servlet. Is it possible by using a DataOutputStream in combination with an ByteArrayOutputstream? is it possible to send a vector over an http connection from j2me to jsee?

I guess what you're saying is that you'd like to use a ByteArrayOutputStream wrapped by a ObjectOutputStream, marshal in the java.util.Vector, get the byte array and send it via HTTP somehow, and then do the reverse on the other side.
That will work if you need to use HTTP. Otherwise, you could setup a non-HTTP connection or use a higher level system like RMI or RMI-IIOP.
