Buffer displayed records for ALV Table

Dear Experts,
when showing large tables (whide structures, many records) I'm facing the issue of reloading times, when a user scrolls down the ALV. I guess this relates to rebuffering the records from the AppServer to the GUI. Is there any way on setting up how many records are loaded initially?

what is the actual problem ... you might thing that it is feature not a bug.
The ALV sends only some records to the frontend and reloads others when they are really needed to be displayed.
What would you like to change?
Maybe your problem is only a bad sort! Try to sort in a way that the most interesting records come with the initial load. Or try to select better in way that your result is smaller. These are simple examples, but maybe it can guide you in the direction to a proper solution.

I need to implement F4 help for ALV table field.
I my scenario, I am using two views. If we click on any record in fist view then it displays the popup window (second view) with relevant record details.
Here one of the columns having fieldnames corresponding values (old values), for correcting old values I have created new value editable column, we can enter new value for old value then we can save it. Till this functionality is ok.
Then I have included OVS help for new value field. Here I need to get f4 help for newvalue field relevant to fieldname.
For example: user clicks on f4 in cell (new value) then if corresponding fieldname is u2018WERKSu2019 then it shows the plant values
Here I can get fieldname, domain name and value table using method set_attribute ().
Same concept I have implemented in ALV using F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST. It is working fine
Here I have little bit confusion. Please advise me how to implement in OVS.

you'll have to create a method for the OVS search help (define it in the "OVS component usage" field in the context).

Want to display records for the specified month only

Hi all,
In my report I am displaying records for the specified month only.
I am able to display it in range of the dates, but i want to display name of the month at the top of page.
e.g.
i am giving range like
01.04.2008 to 30.04.2008
then, it shoud display April, 2008.

and then using TOP-OF-Page event print the month.

Global Setting for ALV Table in webdynpro

Hi guys,
We are in process of upgrading to EHP7 and ABAP-7.4 and we are facing one small issue on default ALV table setting where we are not getting
Grid line = 'All' insist we are getting Grid Line = 'Horizontally'.
I have seen lots of thread suggesting that we can customized it based on application but as we already have lots of webdynpro application and it not a good ideas to go in each and every application and change it.
I have a feeling there should be some place where we can set the default setting for the same may be System or Global .
Any idea on the same.

according to what i understood from your explanation you want that inspite of scrolling you need to do so on user clicking some button or some action ....
i did the same in a scenario...
what i did was just giving a input field on the screen.
and in code i just checked number of records to be less than or equal to the number user puts in the i/p field .
I chose onactionenter for doing this .
firstly i used node->invalidate.
again filled the internal table with number of records matching and displayed the same.

How to display records from base table as well as some other table?

I have a requirement to develope a form described below:
One control block and database block.
DB block is based on table T1 (USER, Table_name, Column_name, ACCESS);
In control block, there are three fields,
User, Table user will enter , and DB block will query based on control block fields(user, table_name).
In table it is not necessary that all the columns of any table will be given.
suppose there is a Table X consist of 10 column.
Initially user give access for all the 10 columns through this form.
if we query for user , table, all the record will come from table T1.
now consider the case, when access given to table X number of columns were 10. after that 2 new columns added later.
now there is no info of added column in table T1. i want if user query DB block, these newly added column must display in DB Block.
Please help me out.

You need to modify your form and add the two columns as base table items. Forms does not add two base table items by itself.

How to set title/text for ALV table column header in WD ABAP

Hello,
I am working in WDA using SALV_WD_Table to display data in table. I need to change the column header text, the obvious way is to get the column header and call the method SET_TEXT to set new text / title. However, this method does NOT work, it does not change the column header text. I also tried the SET_TOOLTIP, this one works, but SET_TEXT does not work. Anyone has idea why this not working and do you find any go-around solution?
My version is NW 7.0

Define F-Code for ALV Button & context menu for ALV table

Hi,
I have some Buttons in ALV Toolbar like for example 'copy row'. Is it in browser environment possible to assign f-code to the button? Like by pushing e.g. F4 the method for 'copy row' action is fired?
Or additionaly, is it possible to define a custom context menu in alv table?

BDC Recording for ALV Grid in containers

Usually it is not a good idea to do recording over a transaction which includes frontend gui controls, such as, tree controls and ALV controls, for this exact reason, among others. Try to use a older version of the transactoin if possible or a BAPI. For example, if you are trying to do a recording over say ME21N, it is recommended to do the recording over the non-enjoy transaction, ME21, or simply use the BAPI.

Display records from database table

My database table has 495K records i want to display them all in se11 tcode and than download into excel ...but because of huge records it timeout.
Do I need to write a program for this?
Or is there any other smarter way.

Hi,
Please follow the steps below:
1. Go to the selection screen of SE11 and provide your selection criteria (if required).
2. Click on Settings menu->User parameters->ALV Grid display.
3. Now click on Program menu->Execute in background->Provide output device name as LP01 or LOCAL or any valid printer parameters->Click continue->Click Immediate button->Click Save.
4. You can see the background job for this in SM37.
5. Once the background job is completed, it will appear in gleen color.
6. Click on the completed job and then click on Spool button.
7. Once the output is displayed in spool you can now easily download it to excel by clicking on System menu->List->Save->Local File.

I have a custom table ztable (kunnr, vbeln, erdat, erzet, flag). Using these values I would like to display the following
Client Number (4) = '1234'
Filler (6) = space.
Record Type (1) = 'A'

This information should be displayed in the following way:

Okay, I see. Is your client number always going to be '1234'? If not, then do not assign a value to it. Otherwise, you'll want to assign the value during your selection statement because the field will be emptied each time you clear the itab line.The same thing goes for your record type 'A'. You need an address number, a date, and a nation as the key for table ADRC (so you need to put the necessary values into w_nation and w_begda). I'm not sure if your customer number corresponds to the address number. Try this:

I can't believe this.
TOP-OF PAGE page is triggered before the first line is written to a page. That means TOP-OF PAGE is triggered by first write statement in program. INITIALIZATION is normally not used to write anything.
You must avoid to write more than one page during TOP-OF PAGE event because this will trigger TOP-OF PAGE recursively endless.
Think about it.

How to display records of int. table in list tree?

friends,
   i want to display a list tree using fm RS_TREE_CONSTRUCT and RS_LIST_DISPLAY.
this is the data that i have to display
Matnr      doc no.        Stock qty.     Age
1     45601236           100          55
1     45601237           10          54
1     45601238        11          53
1     45601239           101          52
now, only the first record should be displayed with a + symbol... when the user clicks the + symbol, then the node has to expand and display the other 3 records pertaining to that material...how to display 4 fields of an internal table in one line and like that, 3 records...i have seen some threads relating to this, but they all display only one value in the child node..how to display multiple fields like this?
please address this functinality using FMs alone, as i am not exposed to objects :!

Before passing the Node name ,Concatenate all the values of record in one string and pass that string as node name.Now it will work.
To develop the basic logic simple program name is :
"SAPSIMPLE_TREE_CONTROL_DEMO" In this program use above logic.

Ctx.SaveChanges() creates new records for related tables

Ok, this is my first stab at EF Code first, so forgive me if this sounds stupid.
I have a simple database and want to add a record in the main trans table. It has 2 foreign keys to 2 reference tables. I wire up the data entry screen in WPF (MVVM) and populate the entity. This entity has the correct references to existing records in the
reference tables.
However when I call save changes it adds the trans record, but also ADDS new records to the reference tables (producing duplicates). I do not want to add records to the reference tables, but rather use the existing records.
I'm sure it's a simple thing, but I am stuck. Any help would be appreciated...

I have a simple Warehouse attendance app that will record when people are absent and the reason. I have 2 fixed reference tables. One is a list of employees, the other is a list of reasons (s - Sick, V - Vacation, etc...)
User enters a date, then selects a employee from a drop down and a reason from a drop down.
01/08/2015      Joe Smith     S - Sick
Both the employee object and reason object (in my record class) point to valid existing records from their reference tables.(i.e employee Joe smith has an Id of 57)
When I call ctx.SaveChanges();
it adds the record to the attendance file, but also adds a record to the employee and the reason table. I now have 2
Joe Smiths in the employee table as well as 2 S - Sick Reason codes.  Joe Smith was added again and now the employee object points to Joe Smith with an Id of 58.
Here is the record class:
