[BUG | ADF Faces] af:selectManyShuttle description doesn't work in af:page

I am using:
- JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4
- ADF Faces 10.1.3.0.4
I have a selectManyShuttle component on my page (mapped to a managed bean) and nested inside a panelPage component, like this:
<f:view>
  <afh:html>
    <afh:head title="Shuttle Test">
      <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"/>
    </afh:head>
    <afh:body>
      <af:form>
        <af:panelPage title="Shuttle Test">
          <f:facet name="messages">
            <af:messages/>
          </f:facet>
          <af:selectManyShuttle leadingHeader="Available"
                                trailingHeader="Selected"
                                leadingDescShown="true"
                                trailingDescShown="true"
                                value="#{testShuttle.selectedValues}">
            <f:selectItems value="#{testShuttle.allItems}"/>
          </af:selectManyShuttle>
        </af:panelPage>
      </af:form>
    </afh:body>
  </afh:html>
</f:view>The managed bean is based on the ShuttlePageBackingBeanBase class described in the ADF Developer's Guide: How to Create a Shuttle.
This works fine - as you select each item in the list, the description field is updated with the correct value. If, however, I replace the af:panelPage component with an af:page component, the descriptions do not show up.
I think this must be a bug because the main difference between the two components is the menu structure. In all other ways, they should function in the same manner.

I have filed a service request on MetaLink for this problem and they have created a bug entry.
The bug is 5840131 - "LONGDESC" FROM SELECTITEM OF SELECTMANYSHUTTLE IN AN AF:PAGE IS NOT DISPLAYED.

  • Bug ADF Faces: af:table

    Hello,
    I found a new bug while working with ADF Faces. If you have a form on a page as well as a table and one of the field in the form is flagged required, then the table won't be sortable unless a value is put in the required field. The same holds true for row navigation.
    I already thought about flagging the table as immediate. That fix the row navigation but not the sorting.
    Regards,
    Simon Lessard

    Hello Frank,
    Thank you for the reply. Here's the complete project.
    It's only a little example to show ADF Faces components without any specific model technology. Therefore, the project is a single project with any well defined separation. As you can see, the table is based on a collection completely separated from the form.
    Note: I agree that sorting should fail with a required field if the table is not immediate. However, if it's I see no reason why it wouldn't work since the table and the form are not linked.
    Anyway, here's the case.
    1. A "shop" managed bean:
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.List;
    public class ShopBean {
        private Product newProduct;
        private List products;
        public ShopBean() {
            products = new ArrayList();
            newProduct = new Product();
        public String addNewProduct() {
            products.add(newProduct);
            newProduct = new Product();
            return null;
        public Product getNewProduct() {
            return newProduct;
        public void setNewProduct(Product newProduct) {
            this.newProduct = newProduct;
        public List getProducts() {
            // I also tried to return a CollectionModel here, but it didn't change anything
            return products;
        public void setProducts(List products) {
            this.products = products;
    }2. A product class:
    public class Product {
        private String name;
        private String description;
        private Double price;
        public Product() {
        public String getName() {
            return name;
        public void setName(String name) {
            this.name = name;
        public String getDescription() {
            return description;
        public void setDescription(String description) {
            this.description = description;
        public Double getPrice() {
            return price;
        public void setPrice(Double price) {
            this.price = price;
    }3. A single page:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
              xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"

    It is very hard to help you without
    seeing your page... do you have the files uploaded to a
    server?  Can you post a link, so people can look at the
    code to see if they can find a solution for you.

  • Portletizing ADF Faces - Portlet Unavailable - Is there a Working Sample?

    Hi,
    It seems I have run into a similar issue as some people before me. I have watched all samples, read all relevant forum threads and yet I cannot solve my problem.
    I have created a very simple ADF Faces applications that uses DataBinding - it displays records from a database table in an af:table component based on ADF BC. I have created the page, added the Portlet Faces Bridge library to the project, created the portlet.xml, copied and pasted and configured the Portlet.xml contents for my Portlet. Deployment is to a local yet standalone WebCenter containing OC4J instance. Note: deploying to the preconfigured OC4J also did not work.
    When I register the Portletproducer, consume the portlet in an otherwise empty JSF page and run that page, I get the Portlet Unavailable message in the page. The error log is shown below.
    I am wondering where to go from here, what can I try to analyze? And also: is there a working sample available for download of an ADF Faces based portlet that can successfully be consumed by an application?

    Hello
    I am trying to portlize an hello world ADF application but am unable to do so because of the situation describe below. I have tried all the options given on this post but nothing seems to resolve the issue.
    I have followed the instructions of portelizing at http://download-east.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/webcenter/files/owcs_10132_bridge_viewlet.html
    A simple portlets without AFD works fine in oc4h or webcenter or jboss, but when I include ADF in the project then none of the application server or the container works
    I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 and the embedded webcenter oc4j for this test
    I have two projects
    1) ui where the ADF appplication is and
    2) test1 where the producer is registered and is tested
    In ui I have a simple jsp page untitled1.jsp with just one adf component (ADF Command Link)
    Here is the source of untitled1.jsp

  • Print to pdf often doesn't work with multiple pages?

    When I try to print to pdf, it often doesn't work right.
    I can select, for example, multiple Excel worksheets to print. It looks fine with 4 pages in Preview, but when I select save as .pdf, it only prints 2 of the 4 pages, and it prints those in 2 separate documents rather than a single .pdf document with multiple pages.
    Is there a way to do this? Is this an Apple error or Microsoft error? Since it looks fine in Preview, my guess it is an Apple error?
    Mark

    It sounds like this is the problem with the way Apple handles multiple orientations in a pdf document. You can use Acrobat to print the files - it handles multiple orientations correctly. There was a previous thread on this:

  • BUG: ADF FACES 10.1.3 04: Crash w/nested UIXCollection & persistent session

    Use of a UIXCollection (af:table or af:iterator) nested within another UIXCollection causes a crash during processDecodes if the session state has been serialized and deserialized. The problem is that when the outer iterator restores its stamp state during iteration (in postRowDataChange), it ends up calling __setMyStampState on the inner iterator with an InternalState object that has been deserialized, and whose (transient) prevVarStatus member is therefore null (and not NULL, as it is normally initialized). At the end of iteration on the inner iterator, postRowDataChange attempts to restore the original value of the varStatus variable. Since prevVarValue != NULL, it thinks it should put the value back, but if there is no varStatus attribute on the iterator, iState._varStatus is null, and the assertion in _setELVar is triggered. As a workaround, setting a non-empty varStatus attribute on the inner iterator avoids the crash.

    James, what Venkat and Prashant are trying to do is something like this...
    1. If I connect to the DB using scott/tiger then in the preLogin method of the Toplink Session Listener class, the proxy user will connect using something like admin/welcome1 and in the database audit view, the name that shows up SHOULD BE that of admin and NOT of scott. This is called proxy authentication if it works fine.
    We developed the above scenario but in the audit logs, we still see scott instead of admin as the user who connected.
    2. This feature is available in the DB but our objective is to use it through TopLink
    Also see Toplink Proxy Authentication Not Working
    I hope I was able to explain the scenario clearly.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Regards,
    Amit

  • TP4[BUG]: Memory profile and CPU profile doesn't work for MAC

    I'm using Mac OSX 10.5.4.
    When I try to use Memory profile and CPU profile, I got following error:
    Error occurred during initialization of VM
    Could not find agent library in absolute path: /Shared/jdevstudiobase1111/jdev/lib/profiler15.so
    But the file actually exists.

    My MAC version is OSX 10.5.4.
    I don't have a stacktrace. It just fails silently.
    You can easily reproduce this bug by reformat a readonly file.
    Here is the code I reverse engineered from oracle.jdeveloper.refactoring.util.Util.java:
    public static boolean setReadOnly(java.net.URL url, boolean readOnly)
    boolean ret = false;
    java.lang.String cmdarray[] = null;
    java.lang.String platformPathName = oracle.ide.net.URLFileSystem.getPlatformPathName(url);
    java.lang.String osName = java.lang.System.getProperty("os.name", "");
    if(osName.startsWith("Windows"))
    cmdarray = (new java.lang.String[] {
    "ATTRIB", readOnly ? "+R" : "-R", (new StringBuilder()).append('"').append(platformPathName).append('"').toString()
    else
    if(platformPathName.equalsIgnoreCase("Linux"))
    cmdarray = (new java.lang.String[] {
    "chmod", readOnly ? "u-w" : "u+w", (new StringBuilder()).append('"').append(platformPathName).append('"').toString()
    if(cmdarray != null)
    java.lang.Runtime runtime = java.lang.Runtime.getRuntime();
    try
    java.lang.Process process = runtime.exec(cmdarray);
    if(process.waitFor() == 0)
    ret = (new File(platformPathName)).canWrite();
    if(ret)
    oracle.ide.model.Node node = oracle.ide.model.NodeFactory.find(url);
    if(node instanceof oracle.ide.model.TextNode)
    oracle.ide.model.TextNode textNode = (oracle.ide.model.TextNode)node;
    textNode.isReadOnly();
    catch(java.io.IOException e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    catch(java.lang.InterruptedException e)
    e.printStackTrace();

  • Bug: "Move to" in email application doesn't work if activated before message fully loads

    I've hit this many times when going through email. If you click on a message in the email application, then go to "Move to folder" in the top-left menu before the message finishes loading, the list of folders in the move dialog will be completely blank. The only way to get it to work is to wait until after the message loads or to navigate back and then do it again after letting the message load.
    I hit this a lot for my Gmail account as I use this feature a lot to archive and categorize mails that I don't need to read the contents of to Gmail labels.
    Known bug? Going to be fixed?
    Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    The reason why it does this is that the email is apart of the application. This is why you cannot move the email till it loads. If you feel this needs to be improved I would suggest that you leave us feedback at www.palm.com/feedback

  • Bug in report sorting? Sort doesn't work in last group level.

    Is this a known error? Is there documentation from Oracle about it?
    My query is a simple select from a table. I then created three group levels. Each group contains a value for sorting (up arrow next to column). However, data is not sorted by the value in the third group.
    Try:
    create table test_sort (a number, b varchar2(5), c varchar2(5));
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (1, 'A', 'X');
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (1, 'B', 'Y');
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (1, 'B', 'Z');
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (1, 'A', 'Z');
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (2, 'A', 'Z');
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (2, 'A', 'Y');
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (2, 'A', 'X');
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (1, 'A', 'Y');
    insert into test_sort (a, b, c) values (1, 'B', 'X');
    Create a query tabular report with the wizard (select * from test_sort). Then make the groups: first a, then b, then c. Make sure that there is an arrow next to the values (sorting).
    The report only displays a and b values sorted.

    Hello,
    This is the normal behaviour documented here :
    http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/reports/10.1.2/topics/htmlhelp_rwbuild_hs/rwcontxt/props/pi_col_break_order.htm
    Restrictions
    Break Order has no effect on columns that belong to the lowest group of a particular query.
    Break Order only affects columns in groups that are above the lowest child group of a query.
    You have to add an "ORDER BY" in the SQL query in order to sort the columns belonging to the "lowest group"

  • Bug - iTunes 5 - Postcasts - Sorting columns doesn't work

    Podcast columns in iTunes 5.0 (34) do not sort. The only clickable column is release date, and nothing changes except for the arrow. Would be nice if the other columns were sortable as well.

  • Bug or feature? Panel layout doesn't work when Stage contained in class

    I have found a very strange behavior. But can't really understand what goes wrong. So I hope I can get some hints here.
    Just try the following demo:
    import javafx.stage.Stage;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    import javafx.scene.layout.Panel;
    import javafx.scene.shape.Rectangle;
    import javafx.scene.paint.Color;
    import javafx.scene.layout.Container;
    public function run(   ) {
      //Remove the next two lines for a miracle!
      Asdf {}}
    public class Asdf {
      def stage: Stage = Stage {
          scene: Scene {
            width: 800
            height: 600
            content: [
                def p: Panel = Panel {
                    width: bind stage.scene.width
                    height: bind stage.scene.height
                    onLayout: function (): Void {
                      p.resizeContent();

  • Justify text doesn't work correctly in Pages 2

    For some types of document I like to specify line breaks and at the same time keep both ends of each line justified (rather than right-align or left-align). This works for unbroken paragraphs in Pages 1 & 2, and in Pages 1 I achieved this result for specified line breaks by using <SHIFT-RETURN> at the end of the line where I wanted the line break to occur. Now text I have prepared in this way in Pages 1 is no longer justified, but just left-aligned.
    How can I achieve this result in Pages 2 without having to insert arbitrary numbers of spaces (which doesn't always work anyway)?
    Thanks.
    Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hello John,
    this is because of the "sero point" where the calculation between the "text paragraph align" settings and the ruler differ. In "left aligned" and "justified" the calculation begins from the left, similar to the ruler, so all works fine. But in "centered" and "right aligned" the calculation begins from the center or from the right, but the ruler calculation is in both cases from left to right.
    This is a limitation of the overall system. To get this right, the ruler has to change it's calculation direction by setting "centered" and "right aligned", too. But you continue writing from left to right, so what about the inversion of the "left" and "right aligned" tab stops?
    I don't know if you have done this, but you can send a feedback to the developer with some suggestions about this: http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html
